Intern with the Records Management team at The Mary Baker Eddy Library and help support the history and mission of The First Church of Christ, Scientist (TFCCS) by engaging with the organizational records of The Mother Church. The Office of Records Management (ORM) is responsible for managing the lifecycle of documents created in the course of business at TFCCS. This process includes ensuring that all documents are kept as long as needed for legal or business reasons, as well as preserving documents of historical value.
As an intern you will be exposed to a wide range of archival and records management tasks, from processing records and collections to assisting with an ongoing project to assess and digitize recordings from TFCCS’s collection of analog media. You will be introduced to the church’s records management database (M-Files) and digital preservation system (Preservica). You’ll also learn the proper procedures for processing archival collections, including the use and implementation of metadata and appropriate practices for records handling and storage.
At the completion of the internship, you will have helped to accurately and appropriately describe and preserve business records for TFCCS employees and future researchers.
