About internships

Each year, university students and recent grads intern with The Mother Church in Boston to gain professional experience, new friendships, and deepen their commitment to Christian Science. They bring fresh ideas and unique skills to the Christian Science movement. New this year, we are offering a fully-online Fall 2024 internship program!

The 2024 Fall internship program will run 8 weeks, from September 9 - November 1. It will be fully online. Applications are considered on a first-come first-served basis starting July 1, 2024, with a hard deadline of August 13. What Do Interns Do?

Interns spend about 90% of their time working for a single church department and 10% of their time as a group. This dynamic structure allows them to work with a lot of people at The Mother Church and receive professional mentoring from a variety of supervisors. During group time they gain a deeper understanding of the full range of resources and programs which The Mother Church supports, and will have opportunities to contribute to them.

What Kind of Work?

Internships are offered in a wide variety of study areas: editing & writing, and program & event planning. Ideally, each intern finds work directly related to her or his field of study.

What Do Interns Do as a Group?

About 10% of the interns’ time will be spent as a group where they will:

  • Learn from Church Officers and managers around the organization

  • Gain a greater understanding of church

  • Provide feedback on new resources and products

  • Support the organization through special projects

Who Can Apply?

Current university and graduate students, as well as those who have graduated within the past year are eligible. Applicants are spiritual thinkers who are proactive in their churches, communities, or universities.

  1. Access to stable and fast internet

  2. Fluency in English

  3. A commitment to working normal business hours, based on Boston’s time zone

Above all, interns must be committed to the healing mission of Christian Science.
