I am a fourth-generation Christian Scientist. As with every student, there comes a time to make Christian Science truly one's own. When I was in high school, the example of my Sunday School teacher, a practitioner, played an important role in my own commitment to Christian Science. After graduation from Principia College, I received Primary class instruction. At that time, I was a partner in an advertising agency in Newport Beach, California. That year, my first patient, a staff member in a client's organization, who was not a Christian Scientist, asked me for treatment and was healed.

There are many misunderstandings about Christian Science and its Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, on Wikipedia. Entries appear like jumbled puzzles with missing sections, pieces forced into the wrong places, and other pieces that simply don’t belong. The church is offering this encyclopedic entry on Christian Science, with permission, that comes closer to the heart of the religion.

I have practiced healing prayer for others since 1992. My family came to Christian Science through my dad’s healing of acute depression.

While growing up in California, my three siblings and I had many challenges but also many blessings. Our parents were dedicated church and community supporters and instilled in us the idea of living one's life in a way that would help the world. I had several meaningful healings in high school and college that cemented my desire to grow Spiritward through a study of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s writings.

The Cross and Crown is a registered trademark of the Christian Science Board of Directors and has long been used on Mary Baker Eddy’s writings and the Christian Science periodicals to indicate The Mother Church as the authentic source of these products. As the Cross and Crown trademark is expanded and more widely used through licensing, we expect the public will become increasingly aware of it as a visual identifier of genuine Christian Science services offered in local communities by The Mother Church and its branches and other associated activities.
