About testimonies

What are testimonies?

Every in-person and online Wednesday service includes a time when all attendees are invited to share testimonies, or experiences and comments related to Christian Science.

Anyone can submit text comments and testimonies of spiritual healing related to Christian Science in conjunction with this Wednesday online meeting. Simply scroll down to the bottom of the main web page.

Submitting testimonies for the Wednesday online meeting

Time

You can submit a testimony for the Wednesday online meeting any time during the week. If we receive your testimony after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, it may be read the following Wednesday.

Character limit

Please note that there is a 3000 character limit for Wednesday online testimonies, which is similar to a time limit at in-person meetings. The system will not accept a testimony of more than 3000 characters, so it can not be read.

Review

Anything submitted online is reviewed before being read, and not everything is read.  Currently, we are only accepting text submissions for online meetings.  Unlike testimonies printed in The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel magazines, the testimonies shared during online meetings are not verified for accuracy. Verified healings can be read and listened to at JSH-Online.

Guidelines

If you would like to submit a testimony for the Wednesday online meeting, here are some guidelines from the Church Manual, page 47:

Testimonials. SECT. 24. “Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (St. Paul). Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, “who healeth all thy diseases” (Psalm 103:3). This testimony, however, shall not include a description of symptoms or of suffering, though the generic name of the disease may be indicated. This By-Law applies to testimonials which appear in the periodicals and to those which are given at the Wednesday evening meeting.

Submitting a testimony for enduring publication

If you would like to submit a longer version of your testimony and/or have it available to the public for more than 24 hours, you are invited to submit it to The Christian Science Journal, Christian Science Sentinel, or The Herald of Christian Science at JSH Submissions. Further guidelines for submitting testimonies to the periodicals are also available here.

Verification

Please note that a testimony submitted to the publications listed above will need to be verified by three independent parties. Some examples of verified healings are posted in the healing section of this website.

Please note

Testimonies submitted for the Wednesday online meeting are intended for that meeting only and not for general publication. Unlike testimonies printed in the Journal and Sentinel magazines, the testimonies from online meetings are not verified for accuracy. Therefore please feel free to listen to these testimonies online but note that they are not authorized for further distribution and unauthorized publishing.
