How appropriate since we received word after almost 10 years of searching for Bin Laden, with numerous obstacles, our dedicated military never gave up and found him. Our presidency never gave up. And fear and hatred are conquered. Thank you for this daily lift, to go forward, listening to God's direction, with courage and trust.

Sometimes on my way home from work in the afternoon, I would stop at my neighbors house and we would have a little tea party. As we were sipping tea and visiting, she mentioned that someone had given her a new drape for a large patio door. Where is it I asked, in the closet was the reply. Without giving it too much thought I found a little stool and took the old drape down. Then I grabbed the new one and and there was the new drape. This was not the first experience hanging draperies.
I went back to my tea and my friend mentioned that she was absolutely overwhelmed at the prospect of hanging that drape. In sincerity, I replied that I was overwhelmed with the solution.
Then it occurred to me, why could I not be overwhelmed with answers to every problem that came my way? Jesus must have been overwhelmed with the idea of walking on the water.

Thank you Ulrike, I was feeling quite daunted today with studying and have gotten up from my desk and found other things to do instead of confronting what I believed to be an obstacle. I am now enthused to 'work' through this puzzle as you have 'walked' through yours. Many thanks again for your inspiration and God's.

The best advice I ever heard is, “Go right through life with the absolute conviction that God will guide you through all obstacles. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by any disturbances, reach your goal, let yourself be guided by God and go right through.”
MBE explains: “Self renunciation of all that constitutes a so-called material man, and the acknowledgment and achievement of his spiritual identity as the child of God, is Science that opens the very flood-gates of heaven; whence good flows into every avenue of being, cleansing mortals of all uncleanness, destroying all suffering, and demonstrating the true image and likeness. There is no other way under heaven whereby we can be saved, and man be clothed with might, majesty, and immortality.” Mis. 185:7
“If one lives rightly, every effort to hurt one will only help that one; for God will give the ability to overcome whatever tends to impede progress” Misc. 115:25

Thank you Ulrike, for this really great Lift. At one time I just loved touring on my bicycle. People asked me "How could you ride so far every day?" And I said "I never did. I just cycled the kilometre in front of me." At the end of the day I could look back at the road and the hills and set up camp. The moment we turn to God we are guided by love.

Thank you for this demonstration for the benefit of those behind you. It has applied to my own experience when in school, learning to ski or roll a kayak or rappel down a Mississippi River Bluff, for example.
It is so much easier when we are guided. I love what the Apostle Paul says along these lines, Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Good morning,
God, good and love of mankind has stilled error, the walking through trusted to the integrity of courage. Love reflecting Love. The judicious stones of David have prevailed. As Mrs Eddy tells us on p. 340(S&H), "....annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed".
Thank you Ulrike for your lifting thoughts.

Thank you for this clear example Ulrike.
I remember walking through a barrel at an amusement park and discovering that if I kept going I didn't turn up side down. We can "walk thou with courage each step of the way". and possess the "Grace to go forward, wherever He guide thee" (Christian Science Hymnal 278). And Margaret #15, I used to belong to a biking group and with an infant seat on the back, cycle with my toddler long distances at times. We took it one mile, one hill at a time.

Thanks, Uli! "When you walk thru a storm, hold your head up high....." - and the Bible talks about walking thru the fire or when the waters overflow thee, I will be with thee. Fear tries to make us stop and look at it, tries to rise up like a wall in front of us, but as we keep walking thru, we see it for what it is, really just an illusion of material sense. The announcement of Osama bin Laden's demise last night is so symbolic of the defeat of the illusion of error or (T)error. Terror, or Fear made active, only has the power we give to it by bowing down to it and worshipping it. We can face it head on and defeat it with courage and persistance and with never giving in to it's supposed power. Hooray for Victory today!

Danke Uli ! It's simple advice, very simple. But how important it is never to forget to listen for that "still, small voice of Truth, God" before we make decisions and move. God loves us all, and directs our every step when we acknowledge Him!

Thank you Ulrike. I am really inspired by your words.
I work for my Father, His business is to guide the world through the valley of false . beliefs, without a pause. He demands that we work out our own salvation and walk on through the valley, don't look right or left, keep your goal always before you, it may seem difficult but you are never alone when leaning on the sustaining infinite. My business is not to interfere, to examine my thoughts and keep them pure. I don't need any rest from my work. It gives me peace and strength as I follow my Leader as she followed Christ Jesus.

This was just what I needed today, with the fear of an important paper deadline looming over me. I am also finding Hymn 195 very helpful. It starts out, "Not what I am, O Lord, but what thou art . . . Thy love, not mine, bids fear and doubt depart, / And stills the tumult of my troubled breast." This encouragement to let go of individual ego and attribute all to God is so comforting. It continues on: "I work and pray, and follow still my guide, / And fear no foe, escaping every snare. . . . I lean on Thee, in weakness I am strong." Thank you!

Thanks #2 Anonymous for the heads up about Osama Bin Laden.
Removing Osama in this way is, well, the "lesser of two evils". Moral evil has no legitimate place in Love, and death has no part of Life. I am compelled to think about our troops again. Never having walked through a rotating barrel, I can't relate to doing that, ha. But I can relate to the fact that when we sincerely turn to God for guidance, get human will and attempted reasoning out of the way, we get the answers we need to heal whatever situation presents itself. We are mentally guided through whatever steps we need to take. I have had a couple of scary personal experiences long ago where pray to God protected me and guided me to safety. Thanks lifters for your responses too.

While I am grateful that Osama Bin Laden is out of the picture and has come to a close, I can't help but see the parallel between that whole situation and many of the stories in the Old Testament! Same horrible descriptions, same nasty events - even simiilar physical locations! We need to keep raising our thought and keeping our eyes fastened on Jesus' perfect pattern!

Ulrika, I loved that you shared how the person behind you in line whispered to just walk on through. And, you listened with courage. That's like us having the joy of expecting to hear Divine guidance and then willingly listening to "the still small voice" of Truth in every situation that seems like a chaotic turning barrel. Also, commenting on the Osama Bin laden comments, I like to remind myself that death is never a solution and evil is not person or personal. I was so touched years ago when teaching a Sunday School class, when a child suggested during one session that we could pray for Goliath. Thanks everyone from all around the world. Thanks Urike, no wonder Jesus taught with parables-they are so vivid. Thank you John K for -'over whelmed with the solution'. When I was 3 or 4 yrs. old. An older child was trying to teach me how to ride sitting on the handle bars of their bike with my feet on the front fender. They yelled at me to stop 'steering'or we would fall down. I had no idea what 'steering' was. I finally figured out if I made myself one with the handlebars and held evenly with both hands on each side, turning which ever way the handlebars went, I didn't do this terrible thing called 'steering'. I have thought of this often as a comparison to being guided by God. Just hold tight to the handlebars, focus on the fact that we express God's qualities because He made us capable of doing it. We only do this. We do nothing else. "destroy the foe and leave the field to God" as Mrs. Eddy says in S& H. Clearing the field is God's job of steering. Thank you all so much for your comments. I was feeling very afraid this morning and am uplifted.

You bring back memories, Ulrike, of great fun at a now long-gone local amusement park, where there was a Fun House packed with all kinds of "adventures." The barrel walk in that Fun House was a little challenging to start with (I was probably about six or seven years of age), but my dad was walking with me, holding my hand and coaching me right along. When he had shown me how, he let me try on my own, still available to assist if it was required. It wasn't long at all before I had complete dominion and that barrel became one of my favorite things in the Fun House.
This puts me in mind of how grateful we can be that our loving heavenly Father walks with us every step, sending His loving angels to guide our feet, coach us along the way. He shows us that we do, in fact, have dominion over what our eyes (and all the deceptive material senses) might fool us into thinking was difficult, or even dangerous. The spin of the mortal thought's view simply cannot knock us down nor render us helpless when we keeping walking His way, listening every step for God's perfect guidance, putting our feet down on solid spiritual ground. By experience, we learn to have confidence in His guidings and trust our God-given dominion. It means we are just as sure-footed, unconquerable and fearless as He is, because as His image and likeness, we reflect all the qualities of His kingdom, power and glory!

I really like this lift.
The courage you describe reminds me of the way the author of Science and Health describes moral courage, as " 'the lion of the tribe of Judah,' the kind of the mental realm. Free and fearless it roams in the forest. Undisturbed it lies in the open field, or rests in 'green pastures...beside the still waters' " (p. 514)
You were like a lion walking "free and fearless" through the seemingly scary, upsetting rotating barrel, Ulrike!
Bless you, #73, for the gentle admonition, supported by those three S&H citations, that "peace and love alone are victorious."
These statements by Mary Baker Eddy helped me this morning on the same subject -- about evil never being person -- but they also apply to this DL about evil not being in a moving barrel!

Love my neighbor..bless mankind!

S&H 264:4
We must look where we would walk, and we must act as possessing all power from Him in whom we have our being.
S&H 426:5
The discoverer of Christian Science finds the path less difficult when she has the high goal always before her thoughts, than when she counts her footsteps in endeavoring to reach it. When the destination is desirable, expectation speeds our progress. The struggle for Truth makes one strong instead of weak, resting instead of wearying one.

I am not at all sure about this wonderful Daily Lift being linked to events in the Middle east. It reminds me of this quote by Martin Luther King...
"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." - Martin Luther King Jr
I love to be guided by divine Love, to love more spiritually, in ways that heal our seeming broken world, and to see God's creation in the past, present and future with a love that knows no hate.

Thank you, Ulrike, for that clear and powerful message. I love it!
Thank you too to No.s 73 and 79 for those words of love. We must always be alert not to name error/evil. It is no person, place or thing. As soon as we believe in an evil person we have fallen for the Adam dream - belief in a power or mind apart from God. There is none; God is all. The world needs us to know this. We celebrate only the destruction of the belief in evil. This comes when we see that it never was.

- 5/2/2011Sometimes on my way home from work in the afternoon, I would stop at my neighbors house and we would have a little tea party.

- 5/2/2011Thank you Ulrike, I was feeling quite daunted today with studying and have gotten up from my desk and found other things to do instead of confronting what I believed to be an obstacle. I am now enthused to 'work' through this puzzle as you have 'walked' through yours. Many thanks again for your inspiration and God's.

- 5/2/2011The best advice I ever heard is, “Go right through life with the absolute conviction that God will guide you through all obstacles.

- 5/2/2011Thank you Ulrike, for this really great Lift. At one time I just loved touring on my bicycle. People asked me "How could you ride so far every day?" And I said "I never did. I just cycled the kilometre in front of me." At the end of the day I could look back at the road and the hills and set up camp. The moment we turn to God we are guided by love.

- 5/2/2011Thank you for this clear example Ulrike.

- 5/2/2011Thanks, Uli!

- 5/2/2011Danke Uli ! It's simple advice, very simple. But how important it is never to forget to listen for that "still, small voice of Truth, God" before we make decisions and move. He guides us and protects us each step of the way, if we listen. I have always regretted not doing this, and thinking i knew better!
God loves us all, and directs our every step when we acknowledge Him!

- 5/2/2011Thank you Ulrike.

- 5/2/2011Thanks #2 Anonymous for the heads up about Osama Bin Laden.
Removing Osama in this way is, well, the "lesser of two evils". Moral evil has no legitimate place in Love, and death has no part of Life. I am compelled to think about our troops again. They can walk right through this spinning barrel because God has their back, whispers to them "My kingdom". Promotion guaranteed!

- 5/2/2011Never having walked through a rotating barrel, I can't relate to doing that, ha.

- 5/2/2011Thank you, Ulrike! I love that example of going forward. Too often, we "ruminate," which means to turn over and over in the mind. - 5/2/2011Thank you so much for the lift today. I remember as a child going through the rotating barrel at an amusement park. - 5/2/2011What a precious lift for me this morning! I am facing what would appear to be an undaunting obstacle, as I move forward in helping a loved one to progress. I have been following that "whisper in the ear" which has led me to this point, even though the human scene is raising quite a fuss. - 5/2/2011While I am grateful that Osama Bin Laden is out of the picture and has come to a close, I can't help but see the parallel between that whole situation and many of the stories in the Old Testament! Same horrible descriptions, same nasty events - even simiilar physical locations! We need to keep raising our thought and keeping our eyes fastened on Jesus' perfect pattern!

- 5/2/2011Ulrika, I loved that you shared how the person behind you in line whispered to just walk on through. So much healing inspiration from these sharings.

- 5/2/2011Thanks Urike, no wonder Jesus taught with parables-they are so vivid.

- 5/2/2011You bring back memories, Ulrike, of great fun at a now long-gone local amusement park, where there was a Fun House packed with all kinds of "adventures." The barrel walk in that Fun House was a little challenging to start with (I was probably about six or seven years of age), but my dad was walking with me, holding my hand and coaching me right along.

- 5/2/2011I really like this lift.
These statements by Mary Baker Eddy helped me this morning on the same subject -- about evil never being person -- but they also apply to this DL about evil not being in a moving barrel!

what are my goals (goal)?
To heal, to help, to love, to support, to bless,
to be ready and willing, to give, to promote Christian Science!

- 5/2/2011I am not at all sure about this wonderful Daily Lift being linked to events in the Middle east.

- 5/2/2011Thank you, Ulrike, for that clear and powerful message.
