9/17: Love redeems

9/17: Love redeems

  1. First u must Love yourself.

  2. I can only speak for myself, but thanks for helping those of us with no voice who are on the bottom of the totem pole.

  3. Thank you so much Brian. A much needed and beautifully, spiritually addressed message to all humanity. It is so easy to feel anger and hate at the work of evil, but evil is neither person, place nor thing and it is so important not to become part of the problem, (hatred and anger), that seems to plague these times, instead be a steady ray of Love's expression.

  4. This Daily Lift indeed lifts our thoughts to a much needed higher divine level.
    Thank you.

  5. Thanks Brian! What healing words that touch - bring forth peace!

  6. Amen!

Truth, Wisdom, Love and Sincerity to ALL mankind.

    Rob Scott
    Chicago, IL

  7. Wonderfully reassuring. Thank you.

  8. Political mishaps shows us that we still live in a world ignorant of God’s Love.
Man can very well be distant from God, but all we need is to identify ourselves as created by the same God to see that our Father is always ready to help us coexist.
“We should measure our love for God by our love for man...“ S&H 12:28
His children are not the enemy, we fight on the same side!

  9. How wonderful to know and really believe that GOD never stops loving us. This is very uplifting and so reassuring, and can only strengthen our resolve to go forward "Trusting TRUTH the strong deliverer" Much LOVE to all whereever you are and whoever you are, for as one of the Pop songs says "We are family" June uk.

  10. Thank you for this much needed lift. Mortal mind's "news" that those dear individuals have been killed is the Liar's claim that it can usurp some corner of reality and govern there. Reality is infinite and has no corners. Each of those individuals is an expression of Divine Love, not an impression of matter. Let us each prove today that Love, and therefore they, are alive and well and at home in Love, where all of us have always been. Thank you to Farida (No 3) for emphasizing the importance of our collective role.

  11. Many thanks Brian for echoing all of our thoughts. Yes. *Divine Love will always be with us all." "I know Thy presence every passing hour,/ I know Thy peace, for Thou alone art power;/ O Love divine, abiding constantly,/ I need not plead, Thou dost abide with me." (Christian Science Hymnal #7).

  12. Yes, Divine Love,God,is always with us at every minute, and second."a very present help in trouble",Trying to keep our thoughts constantly "God conscious" in divine harmoney and trying to guide those near us to feel the same will surely be a drop in the ocean towards world harmony. Not always easy ,but of course the world IS already in total Divine harmony.I join June above in sending LOVE and PEACE to all, as she says ...whereever and whoever you are.,and thank you Brian for your loving message.

  13. Thank You for this message

  14. Thank you, dear Brian, for comforting me today.

  15. Thank you for putting the world's need - and our's at times in these comforting words !

  16. Thank you.

  17. Thank you!

  18. Thank you!

  19. THANK YOU!

  20. DIVINE LOVE . . . THE SOURCE AND CENTER OF OUR BEING is more obvious in the lives of believers and yet we our faith will guide us to see it in those who have not come to recognize it in themselves. The spirit within us all is God. Thank you for sharing your easily recognized and ILLUMINED spirit with us all this morning Brian.

  21. Thank you, Brian. "... he that humbleth himself shall be exalted" and then he will be bidden to "go up higher" (Luke 14:10, 11). Love's redeeming power for all is here now and forever. May mankind accept so grand a blessing.

  22. Thank you, Brian, for this far reaching lift, "voicing good." It was very helpful to me.

  23. THANK YOU .
What a great way to start our day - week. Love is always with us no matter what.

  24. Thank you for this wonderful reminder!

  25. I'm so grateful for this healing message. Thank you, Brian and Daily Lift Team! I'm knowing these healing thoughts and truths are going with me today (and always) and with all humanity.

  26. Hi Brian,

Thank you for this quiet healing message. Sometimes it appears hard to still love when one is the focal point of an aggressive act. I often remember the immediacy with which Christ Jesus healed the man's ear after it had been cut off just as he was being taken away. The immediacy for me has always stood out.

The healings Jesus demonstrated helped and help to change thought. In Ephesians we read that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities.". I have come to realize that our role, at times, is to help purify the water. We are confronted with aggressive signs of hate and dismay so that we may help change thought.

I mentioned, before, an incident involving a visitor to the island that felt a need to stab one of my dogs because she barked as a visitor passed. The attempt happened just as I was going to Church. It delayed my departure and temptation came and said "if you did not have to go to Church you could stay here and handle this situation"

This "principality'" wanted me to react to and live in fear. I did take the situation to Church but for it to be handled, and it was. We must not allow the acts of others to prevent us from demonstrating our true individuality. Love, not fear, ought to inform thought & action.

My prayers are with the US Diplomatic Missions, the International Aid Communities and all individuals who seek to help one another. Walk with the "shield of faith" & "word of God" (Eph 6:).

  27. Thank you Brian, your gently metered voice, bringing healing in the Truths you share, a blessing to ALL! for we are all, One.
    Beannachd,
    Shelagh

  28. Thanks, Brian, for “Love redeems … Jesus taught us to love even our enemies … out of suffering we can grow to love instead of hate … Love will not forsake anyone … move past hatreds that divide us … Love unites us … be blessed and bless others …” Herein is the Christian of Jesus’ defining. “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth … Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven … For if ye love them which love you … And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? … Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5) An “eye for an eye” seems so much easier. But Jesus has called Christians to prove the power of Love under all circumstances, according to God's laws of Love. “… For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds … Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ …” (II Corinthians 10) When there is a temptation to hate or fear, I have the Divinely authorized power to love. As I turn to our “God is Love” (I John 4)) for guidance and protection, healing happens.

  29. Hatred and revenge in the area of religion have been so destructive in history. Yes, Love needs to be at the center of worship and religious practice, and identifying as children of Light means doing a lot in this direction with Love. We all have one Soul, God, as Christian Science reveals.

  30. I appreciate the encouraging reminder of divine Love's gentle presence, Brian, so we can press on as hymn 12 reads, "Go forward then, and as ye preach so let your words confirm your speech, and prove to all with following sign the Word of God is power divine."

  31. Thanks, Brian. This is the message for our community, too, currently dealing with repeat episodes of senseless, brazen violence. Our job is to see through the hatred and fear to Love's strong, ever-presence.

  33. Thanks so much, Brian, for a very timely and inspiring message. There was an article in the May 2012 Journal by Kathryn Merrill titled, "THERE IS NO ENEMY." She begins with, "In Christian Science, we learn to separate the error from the person - to impersonalize the false belief we see manifested by someone, and destroy it in our own thought." And continues, "Our greatest protection is found in loving our neighbor compassionately, filling our thought with goodness, holiness, and purity." Although this is written in regard to one person, it can certainly be appied to many people or a specific class of people. We must watch and pray not to be tricked into believing hatred in any of it's varied expressions, but to love all of our neighbors. As hymn 179 so beautifully puts it, "Love one another, word of revelation; Love frees from error's thrall, Love is liberation. ....Love bids all discord cease, Conquering hate, enthroning peace, Love, Love alone is power."

  34. Thank you Brian, that was so beautiful!

  35. How good to know that divine Love will not give up on us. Thank you for your message today, Brian.

  36. Each one of us can be an effective healer in this situation by separating the hateful act from the person who committed the act. No crime, no matter how heinous, causes a person to be unloved by our Father Mother God. This person is always cherished, always divinely guided and cared for. The crime is denounced as a lie of mortal mind. The spiritual idea of the person who committed the crime is forever loved and held dear by God.

Thank you, Brian, for inviting each one of us to be healers today.

  37. Thank you for such a Christian response--turning hatred to love, sadness to hope for me. You are truly a CHRISTIAN Scientist. grateful for this Uplift.

  38. Many thanks Brian for this most needed lift as we begin our study this week on Reality. Certainly Love is the only real. To Bob #30, I too love Hymn #12, but in checking found that it is our 'works' rather than our 'words' that confirm our speech. An important distinction to ponder. Love to all on this new day of discovery.

  39. Thank you Brian for your wonderfully calming and assuring words to start this new week. May Divine Love bless you, your family and all mankind today and forever.

  40. Loving our so called enemies requires watching on the level of words as well as action. These violent outbursts occurred in reaction to hatred expressed not physically but verbally and artistically. It appears that there have been victims in California as well as Libya. The actors and technicians who were apparently deceived into participating in a hate film, and the man who felt moved to create something that was hurtful and offensive to millions around the world need our prayers as well. Of all the freedoms that our constitution guarantees, freedom of religion is the most beautiful and most important. Let us vow to honor it in thought and spirit as well as deed.

  41. It is important to mention that according to the BBC 8 Libyans also lost their lives besides the ambassador and three other Americans.
Omitting this fact reinforces the perception that the "others" do not count. This is the link with that fact: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19607834
Let's pray for all and also clad with the panoply of love the 8 libyan families and whenever possible correct the record.

  42. Thank you for this lovely calm and powerful message!

  43. Thank you for this beautiful message. I was very helpful and confirming.

  44. Thank you Brian, for this Lift. Such a blessing for the familes and friends at home, and for the efforts of many to retain calm and quiet in the face of a noisy clamour of a supposed opposite to divine Love."
We are standing firm, we are those in the right, "No mortal sense can still or stay the flight of silent prayer, Unceasing, voiceless, heart desire That seeks God everywhere." ( Hymn 194)
Thank you Nate and the team; the BoL and lecturers; and the Daily Lifters, already there before being called upon.

  45. Dear Brian, All I can say is "Thanks from the bottom of my heart."

  46. You can't know how healing this message is for me this morning. The humanity in your words is so beautiful. Being reminded that Love is all there is, is what I needed to meet a claim of gross injustice in my own experience. The example of Mrs. Eddy's life, as well as her words, also speaks to me this morning. Thank you.

  47. Thank you for this Brian-it is so helpful and speaks to the heart.Michael.England.

  48. Thank you for this message - it goes straight to the heart - may we not forget to ALWAYS love and honour ourselves and our fellowman/woman and to watch and pray for the world... Divine Love is truly the only way.

    Carolyn

  49. Dear Brian: Thank you or helping us know the reality of the outreach of Divine Love. God blesses all mankind. I need to remember this in disappointment and sadness. Thank you or the reminder, dear friend.

    Ann Botts, Banning, Ca

  50. Your comments remind me of the strength of divine Love, which never gives up.
    Thank you.

  51. Mary Baker Eddy wrote "Revenge is inadmissible" (Science and Health 22:32). In everyday life, it can be so tempting to idly wish for some kind of punishment to befall people who attempt to assassinate our character, throw us under the bus, or frustrate us in other ways. But we can be alert to the serpent's poison, handling revenge immediately in our own thought. "Revenge is inadmissible." This is a great place to start, I feel, as we also hold the wider world in our prayers, knowing that God is All, and that evil is powerless.

  52. Beautiful Brian.
    So helpful.
    So reassuring.
    Very needed.

    Grand thanks.
    Susan

  53. thank you to name.no1 and to Troy of Barbados.
Yes, we must remain in Faith.
I had an incident this weekend, that deeply disturbed me, someone I thought I knew without provocation, criticized and insulted me deeply. I felt stunned and shocked and had just taken a step out to renew my faith in people in this group after much offense and disloyalty, abandonment and general falsity. Wow, I was in disbelief that someone could treat me so poorly, when her husband had in generosity befriended us. So, now I can, after two days, let go and let god knowing this person was as out of line as the person who would stab an animal. I will not blame myself for not knowing who to trust, because if I continued along the lines people like her have driven me to , then I will be all alone without a prayer.

  54. Divine Love always and in ALL WAYS unites all. Thank you for this wonderful lift!

  55. To Nancy, 38, thank you for the correction.

  56. Thank you Brian! Your message is certainly timely in keeping "crime in check" as Mrs. Eddy requested Christian Scientists do. With our Daily Lifts, a wonderful reminder is sent out through the internet that arouses thought to be Love centered. I am most definitely "lifted" by this one!

  57. Thank you Brian for this healing message for all of humanity.
And we can rebel against hate and murder, sadness and loss.
In the words of a poem by Mary Baker Eddy..."Love more for every hate..."
So many healing prayers from all of you,
Thanks to this Daily Lift family.

  58. P.S.

I want to thank Mr. Brian Talcott, and also give gratitude from a deep place in my heart for the model of respectful and honest journalism provided by The Christian Science Monitor. Today's Daily Briefing is a healing journalistic response. Let us keep the world's journalists in our prayers.

  59. Brian thank you, very reassuring.

  60. Thank you, Brian, also Nathan and team, also Annabelle #41 for her remembrance of and compassion expressed for the 8 Libyan families.

  61. Thank you for this comforting, and helpful understanding of God's eternal love.

  62. Brian, what a beautiful expression of practical Christianity. Your warmth and caring so fulled your message. It was very healing for me.

  63. Thankyou Love for all those with a charitable heart who go out each day in Gods work. " For they shall see God ". The Mind of God must always be at the heart of the community transforming the lives of all who seek Good for its oake . God bless akl wih a charitabke heart.x SUE

  64. A powerful message and so needed.

  65. Thank you.

  66. Thanks Brian, thanks Sunshine, #21, for a great Bible reference…

  67. most needfull

  68. What a healing lift. I pray this message heals the sores of the world. Then, every person, and thing, who breaths should, in some way, sing the popular song "Let There Be Peace On Earth and Let It Begin With Me." Thank you Brian.

  69. Thank you, Brian for remembering Chris Stevens who was a friend of my son. Chris helped William when he was in Libya in the conflict. They both worked, and work tirelessly for conflict resolution. And thank you, too, Annabelle for remembering all who lost their lives so needlessly. "------may Thy Word increase the affections of all mankind and govern them."

  70. This inspires me to continue my quest "to grow to love" and not let it just be nice words, read or spoken.. Heartfelt gratitude Brian and all Lifters.

Father, heal me today of any false or fleeting sense that harm and death are genuine effects of God, divine Love.

  71. Well, I certainly needed to hear that today...on many levels! Thank you for the wonderful lift today, and every day.

  72. Thanks, Brian, for such a beautiful, touching lift. This quote from Mary Baker Eddy came on the heels of your lift:

"The depth, breadth, height, might, majesty, and glory of infinite Love fill all space. That is enough!"

The marginal heading reads "Love and man coexistent" (Science and Health, p. 520:3)

We can know and are collectively demonstrating that infinite Love fills all space. There is no room for anything but omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient and omniactive divine Love, God. Man and all creation are comforted and satisfied with this wondrous Love. It IS enough to bless, redeem, heal, comfort, redirect, restore and rebuild relationships.

  73. Thank you to Brian and all the lifters. My son and daughter-in-law are currently living in a Muslim country and I need to keep myself focused on God's love overcoming "misguided hatred".

  74. That was a beautiful message Brian. I bowed my head and listened as a prayer to your reassuring words. I will keep this in my personal mailbox for future needs. Thank you so much.

  75. As we all prepare a way for the Lord (Love) each day, we are clad in the panoply of Love. This is the full armor we wear as we live and move and have our being in Love. We practice and live Love. Love does make the rough places plain. Our proactive witnessing of all of the good in and around us helps us wait and love more in the face of misguided, unacceptable, hateful actions. Thank you, Brian, for the redirection of thought from sadness to the ongoing healing power of Love. All things are possible to Love, including world peace.

  76. Thank you Brian for the helpful thoughts. (=

Thank you Annabelle for informing us of the 8 Libyans also killed so we can include their families in our prayers of love and comfort. <3

  77. There was once a man in Northern Ireland by the name of Gorden Wilson who's daughter was killed by the IRA, who, when interviewed was asked. "What do you think of those guys who killed your daughter." And his answer was; "I hold no grudge, I hold no hate, I will pray for those men that God forgives them." The more we hate those that hate, the more we bring to humanity the very thing that we want healed.

  78. The news that inspired this Lift isn't what we usually get here, but one so necessary. We can make a difference through loving in the face of unloving acts, even ones so strong they lead to tragedy. The families of all, coworkers, those Ambassador Stevens knew, and the public he served need healing prayers. Those responsible need healing prayers even more, for we must end any claim that divine Love is not omnipresent. This is a lie that presents what looks like "proof" and yet, God would have to have done this, inspired this, for it to be true. God is pure, total Love, the only Creator. The key to healing this is measuring our love for God by our love for man, as you reminded us from Mrs. Eddy's "Miscellaneous Writings", pg.12:28. 1st John 4:20 compares hate for one we have seen to a claim of love for God whom we have not seen, and says such expressions of love are lies. Likewise, any lesser degree below pure love, affection, and compassion for our fellow man would reduce our wholeness of love for God. Today's Lift could bring the happiest of all feelings, if we work daily to love the ones that seem difficult to love. We can refuse to let hate shown in this act of violence gain any more ground by strongly loving, by only loving. Please note: Having just looked up the quote in Misc. 12:28 to post this, I saw dear #6 Elena, incorrectly attributed the quote to S&H.

  79. A beautiful healing message for us and the world. Thank you so much.

  80. Good enough. Perfect. Cannot be any better.

  81. I needed to hear this today. Love will win. Thank you!

  82. Thank you.

  83. Amen!!!!!!!! and thank you Brian.

  84. thankyou and also #51.... in the course of daily life and hardships you sometimes forget to find the love you so badly need at the time.. after the spell is over i qiuckly run to my studies and i find my peace and love. yes god is love , every thing in side of me changes to how it should be . love like i was always meant to be everything of goodness clarity and just being , how i know , how i want to be. many thanks .. gisele

  85. Thank you Brian for this much need Daily Lift!

  86. Thank you.

  87. A message / lift much needed today and every day - thank you.

  88. thank you so much.

  89. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR DEAR RESPONSES. What I find so special are the prayers from so many of you in response to the Lift. May your prayers "enrich the affections of all mankind" as Mary Baker Eddy understood and expected. You are all so kind and thoughtful. More blessings from divine Love for humanity--and each child of God.

  90. Terrific... divine Love unites us!! Thaks, Brian, we all need that...

  91. Thank you for the inspiring forgiveness!

  92. Thank you for this gentle, uplifting message today. I jotted down the blessing at the end of the Lift on a sticky note and posted it on the computer: "May you be blessed and bless others through divine Love today." What more could one ask for, what more can one give? Thank you, Brian!

  93. What a beautiful loving Lift. I'm reminded of Mrs. Eddy's admission in My., page 174, to First Congregational Church, "Each day I know Him nearer, love Him more, and humbly pray to serve Him better." And as in the Daily Prayer "...and mayThy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!" (I just noticed your response to all responders.) Thank you for your compassionate message blessing one and all.

  94. Thank you for such a powerful reminder so beautifully delivered.

  95. Brian, thanks for being so responsive to the great need of the moment. Your deep love has blessed us all.

  96. Thank you aLL for so much love expressed and shared, you kept me scrolling to read as many as i could and now I'll read more in the daylight tomorrow -- ayem. Oh, it's already AM. I add my love to all. We all need it always.

  97. Your kindness in bringing out this ambassador's gifts is appreciated. But I have to ask: Was the world diminished because of the death of Christ Jesus? It has not been the case. My current knowledge and
appreciation of the ambassador has increased since I now know of his love and service. His story of unselfishness inspires. Our world needs the qualities he embodied, and our government needs to be wiser. The outrage relating to perceived (and disseminated) callousness and ignorance continues. There are lessons to be learned, and it will serve us better if we, as Christians, can love the violence and ignorance out of our neighbors and ourselves. My father passed on this summer, so I am learning new lessons. And the one that stands out brightest right now is the inseparability of man from His creator. We are one. And Love endures.

  98. Brian, The love that you speak about that that redeems and blesses mankind is all there is and your words were very comforting as is the Divine Love tjhey reflect. Thank you

  99. That message was so helpful. Thank you.

  100. thank you so much and thanks to everyone who commented. the responses and message are humbling and comforting ,

  101. What a beautiful and reassuring message. Thank you.

  102. This was just what I needed this morning (I'm a couple of days late) as I read the news about my home city being over run with misguided hatred & how the locals want to 'take back' their city with the same misguided hatred. I was slowly letting fear into my thinking and I really needed to set my thinking straight, which I'm constantly doing as I go about my day, and know that Divine Love is with us all.

  103. Thank you for addressing this so compassionately, Brian, Love forsakes no one…

  104. Hello Thank you for this lift. I have let myself feel distant from God. I feel the love in the daily lifts and know that I need to acknowledge my relationship to the loving and caring God. I need to look to God for guidance to find my way. I do believe that in a quiet way and I need to be more up front with this in my daily thought. Thank you for the love that is expressed in the lifts and in the responses.
