6/11: Rhythm of the universe

6/11: Rhythm of the universe

  1. Thank you Christine for presenting the beautiful truths of Christian Science in this peaceful (high above mortal thought) setting. In C/S we learn that, "All is under the control of the one Mind," (S&H page 544) The universe can't help but express the order, purpose, and harmony of its creator. Not only is this seen on a grand and majestic scale but also in our individual lives. It is seen in the simplest acts of kindness to the ending of wars. The demonstrations that we make every day attest to this fact.

  2. Thank you. That was very comforting.
    Thank y

  3. Thank you for this reassuring lift. I will try it tonight and see if it works for me. Internal harmony is a life-giving gift from God. Just accept it, naturally as a child. My sister seems to constantly be concerned over her health. I am seeking ways to divert her mind. Hopefully a night out under Australian skies might help. We can look for the Southern Cross or Centaurus in winter. God bless.

  4. Thank you, Christine, for this inspiring and healing message!

  5. What a glorious background for your solid message. Thank you, Christine for Truths of the universe which Mary Baker Eddy knew and shared in her writings. Such beauty, harmony and constancy are just before us at night.

  6. We can see God’s universe as an example of the perfect order, harmony and rhythm; with nothing out of place.
We can also feel part of this order if we understand that God’s image and likeness is a vital part of His spiritual, perfect creation.

“if you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science, — namely, that man's harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe, — you cannot awake in fear or suffering of any sort.” Retro. 61:8

Retro. 61:10

  7. Thank you Christine, for this lovely Lift; what a beautiful place to live in! My thanks too, to response #1 - most helpful.

  8. What an inspired view...order, harmony, balance, rhythm...peaceful, isn't it? All God-ordered and maintained. A healing message to snuggle in with tonight and in prayer share with the world! Thank you!!

  9. Harmony within. Thank you Christine.

  10. Christine,
    Thank you

  11. That was fantastic! Thanks!

  12. Thank you

  13. Thank you, Christine,

    This was really beautiful.

    Sweet dreams.

Truth, Wisdom, Love and Sincerity, to ALL mankind.

  14. Thank you for this thought !

  15. Thank you Christian!!!!!!!!! That statement from Retrospection p.61 is one of my favorite statements, and relating it to God's creations now help me more to understand it.
    I am grateful.

  16. Thank you.

  17. Thank you, Christine for this convincing illustration of Principle and harmony in the universe and so also in man. It is a big help and opens the eyes for still more signs of Gods unerring law and - Love . Thank you!

  18. Many thanks Christine for this inspiring healing lift. Yes. "We are right now Love's perfect spiritual creation." Although I try always to fall asleep conscious only of the truth of Christian Science, I awoke this morning suffering from the belief of an 'upset stomach', which very quickly disappeared after seeing your lift! "Cleanse the lepers, heal the sick./ Cast out demons. Raise the dead./ Truth is revealed in every place,/ Throughout all time, throughout all space." (Christian Science Hymnal Supplement #453).

  19. I too love to look to the natural universe for confirmation of God's control, so beautiful and eternal. Contemplating the moon and stars, sunsets and sunrises, the change of seasons makes me feel secure and happy to be an "idea" in the divine Mind. To be able to glimpse a small part of this universe helps remind me of the immensity of God's thought and from Science & Health we read,"The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness." To know that God is ever maintaining us and all creation, is very comforting indeed. Thank you Christine for turning our thought to the infinite in such a beautiful way.

  20. A powerful and healing presentation for which I am most grateful . Thank you Christine for reminding us of the universal rhythm ,the manifestation of God which includes us His spiritual creation .
    Thank you Christine .

  21. Thank you so much for this Christine, I really enjoyed it and have listened several times, especially the MBE quotation, WOW- when you really digest that it sure does bring a beautiful sense of peace and eternal harmony to every situation, so I am so so grateful Christine. Thank you again.

    Love Cheryl xx

  22. Carol, Switzerland
Dear Christine, this lift is so encouraging and peaceful, thank you indeed.

  23. Thanks a lot, Christine. We, living in the southern hemisphere, do not have the Big Dipper but the Southern Cross, rounding around the Celestial or Gods South Pole for the eons.

  24. Thank you Christine, I feel your message this morning, I have been feeling the peace of His love for sometime. Reading tonight on humility, feeling God's grace.

  25. Thank you, Christine, for your powerful and healing message. The video helped the grandeur of CS.
    xoxo

  26. We have some big skies down in this part of the world, too, Christine. It was so beautiful to lie in bed and see the constellations in their seasons. Your Big Dipper is our Southern Cross, but we're happy to share. In winter the stars look to be so close to the earth, whereas in summer in the three days between moons we can't see outside. With a full moon we could see colour. It's amazing that with a small population and small cities, we seem to have an unobstructed view. With so much beauty one's heart is full of wonder and joy. And all for the glory of God.
Thank you Team Daily Lift - great to finish with a flourish!

  27. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much. :-D

  28. Thank you Tina. What a beautiful message, the constant presence of what God created, all good, all powerful, right here, right now, forever.

  29. Thank you for this wonderful message, reminding us of the perfect, harmonious universal order of which each of us is included. The Truth is so simple, perhaps complex, but certainly not complicated and chaotic. Thank you for this message which helps to clear and purify my thoughts.

  30. Thanks so much, Christine, for reminding me of this verse: “if you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science, — namely, that man's harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe, — you cannot awake in fear or suffering of any sort.” (Retro. 61:8) It is just what I needed. I loved the video and the beautiful scenery above and below. What a peaceful place to live. Viewing the sky at night gives us a sense of the limitless creation of God.

  31. Thank you!

  32. This is such a lovely, powerful message, Christine. Thanks. Thanks to everyone who shares.

  33. I am reminded of a lake named by the Indians "the smile of the Great Spirit" referred to by Mary Baker Eddy (S&H 477). We truly behold the expression of God in the harmony and order of the universe governed by divine Principle. Thanks so much for this inspiring "Lift".

  34. Thank you Christine for this lovely and inspiring video. I also, live in the southern hemisphere and when I am ot of town I love to watch the stars. It makes me remember that I am part of that universe created by God. But when I am in town, during the week days, I tend to forget to look up to the skies and your lift was a reminder that I must go to sleep with that peace, that sweet assurance. The verse from Retrospection and Introspection came in the right moment to me. I am very grateful.

  35. Such beauty and harmony expressed in this unique lift and the responses! Thank you.

  36. Anytime I hear “rhythm”, I will always think about training horses. The regularity of the horses gait, whether he is going forward or turning to the left or the right is more than trained skills. It is evidence of balance and confidence without disturbance. Good riders can help nurture rhythm.

I find it interesting that we are sort of the same. Our balance and confidence comes from God, which gives us the ability to go to the right or the left without disturbance. This rhythm is the heart of us.

Your video, Christine, reminds me of Hymn 329
The heavens declare the glory Of Him who made all things; Each day repeats the story, Each night its tribute brings. To earth’s remotest border His mighty power is known; In beauty, grandeur, order, His handiwork is shown.

  37. What a lovely and universal treat (and treatment) today! As I listened, I thought of hymn 329 from the CS Hymnal, "To earth's remotest border His mightly power is known; in beauty, grandeur, order, His handiwork is shown." I'll reflect upon this divine order more reverently for myself today (and ongoing) and for all creation. Sincerest thanks, Christine, Daily Lift Team, Lifters all!

  38. Thank you Christine. This video provided a sense of peace and serenity. I am vibrating at a higher frequency. Blessings to everyone today.

  39. Helpful quote and message, and a reminder to have a few moments of prayer as we turn in at night.

  40. Christine, thank you for bringing balance and order to my prayers this morning. The ideas in this Daily lift really lifted my thoughts to look in a more progressive direction.

And #35, Nancy from Yellow Springs, thank you for sharing another facet of this beautiful rhythm found in the universe. It really is confident building to know that I inherently include balance in my life- that balance is a natural state of being. I am going to enjoy entertaining this angel thought that God has given each one of us the ability to move about his or her daily affairs in such a beautifully, "gaited" manner.

  41. Thank you Christine. Just what I needed today.

  42. What a beautifully put inspiring lift today! I've always loved thinking of man as part of the orchestra of the spiritual universe being expressed as one grand harmonious whole.

Before I listened to it, I was thinking about the statement from Science and Health on page 300, "The universe reflects and expresses the divine substance or Mind; therefore God is seen only in the spiritual universe and spiritual man, as the sun is seen in the ray of light which goes out from it." We are Truth's rays of light as 'God's beams' blessing all mankind. Thanks so much Christine! and the Daily Lift team and all the inspiring thoughts from the commenters.

  44. Simply beautiful....thank you

  45. Thanks for this lift....I love to think of the universality of Principle and man's unique and cherished place within!

  46. Beautiful, peaceful and comforting lift, Christine. Thank you so much for bringing to the forefront of thought Mary Baker Eddy's comforting promise in Retro 61:8:
“if you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science, — namely, that man's harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe, — you cannot awake in fear or suffering of any sort.”
I will think about this passage tonight as I go off to sleep.

  47. The statement you read from Retro 61: 8-12 beginning with "... if you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science,.." has just been written in the space at the bottom of page 442 in my textbook of Science and Health.
Eddy's "Take Notice" instructions from MY 237: 12-14 asks us to "give daily attention thereto" in regard to SH 442:30-32. The truth cited in today's Daily Lift supports us in being a law to ourselves of no harm "...either when asleep or awake." Thank you, Christine!

  48. Thank you so much for reminding me of the unchanging and enduring nature of the universe. While I cannot readily see the expanse of stars as you can in Wyoming, I often look up to the Big Dipper for reassurance of its endurance. This comforts me in times of mortal upheaval.

  49. Wonderful... Thank you for this message!

  50. Is that an alarm I hear ringing? I've heard of a "wake-up call" and have always been alert to start each morning by preparing my thoughts for the demands of the day. How appropriate to know we also have a "go to sleep call". We naturally clean our teeth before going to bed. How much more important to clean our thinking as well?

I looked up and read Mrs. Eddy's entire quote to see it begins with the sentence, "fear [or disease] is formed unconsciously in the silent thought". How many nights are we lulled to sleep by mindless drivel or driven by exhaustion into unconsciousness? Understanding that unconscious silent thought is a breeding ground for error deserves its own alarm, and not a silent one.

Before falling asleep we must first wake up to the need of filling our thoughts with divine Truth, Life and Love instead of leaving an empty space for something unwanted to fill overnight.

In divine mind there is no state of unconsciousness so, whether awake or asleep, every moment is an opportunity for man to be in control of his thinking. No more falling asleep while listening to the TV or mentally rehearsing the trials and tribulations of the day. I just gained another eight hours a day of prayer.

  51. Beautiful scenery, beautiful imagery, beautiful message. Thank you!

  52. Dear Christine: Thank you! Your lift today reminds me of Mrs. Eddy's words from Miscellaneous Writings: "Let us open our affections to the Principle that moves all in harmony, — from the falling of a sparrow to the rolling of a world. Above Arcturus and his sons, broader than the solar system and higher than the atmosphere of our planet, is the Science of mental healing. What is the kingdom of heaven? The abode of Spirit, the realm of the real. No matter is there, no night is there — nothing that maketh or worketh a lie. Is this kingdom afar off? No: it is ever-present here."

  53. Beautiful, deep and moving video, Christina.
Thank you for your insights this morning.

  54. Often I look to the sky for comfort and assurance of the permanence, order and sanctity of God's creation. Thank you for this analogy and the reminder that God's law is ever in operation including man and his undeviating part in the peace and harmony of the rhythm of the universe..

  55. Thank you so very very much Christine, such a big help to me. The quote from Retrospection and Introspection is one I hadn't read before. I've been waking and immediately starting to worry about challenges I'm facing, fearful that needs won't be met. It's taken me time to lift my thought to what I know to be true and sense God's presence & love. That quote is just perfect for me!
Thank you also #19 Lynn in Texas, your ideas are so very helpful! What a joy to be a part of this community!

  56. Thank you, Christine, for “Rhythm of the universe … this reliable rhythm is evidence of the true spiritual nature of the universe … ‘why don’t I see evidence of that rhythm?’ … but we can see it right here, right now … ‘man’s harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe …’”

The rhythms or patterns we perceive through the human senses of sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell, happily remind us of the order and beauty of God’s great goodness and power. But if it seems as though stars are falling out of our constellations, we are not helpless!

“Human law is right only as it patterns the divine. Consolation and peace are based on the enlightened sense of God's government.” (My 283:26).

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and … Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end …” (Isa 9:6,7)

Mrs. Eddy wrote in Science and Health (vii:27), “Since the author’s discovery of the might of Truth in the treatment of disease as well as of sin, her system has been fully tested and has not been found wanting; but to reach the heights of Christian Science, man must live in obedience to its divine Principle. To develop the full might of this Science, the discords of corporeal sense must yield to the harmony of spiritual sense …”

  57. Rhythm of the universe is truly a wonderful thought to contemplate.
I like to remember "this is the day The Lord has made , be glad, give thnks, rejoice" and I used to send the kids off to school with this thought.
Thanks to all of you for the uplifting comments.

    Daily Lift Team
The quote above is from Hymn 342 in the Christian Science Hymnal (Laura Lee Randall).

  58. Thank you Christine and thank you all other lift family members!
    Wonderfully soothing thoughts....

  59. Beautiful video and message. #1 also had a wonderful response.

  60. Thank you Christine and all commentors. #29 Diana: I need to be reminded that Truth is simple and complex, not chaotic and complicated, as you have stated. Simple in that the divine order never changes. Complex in that this is infinitely so; and that each individual human consciousness must be elevated to the recognition of its simplicity.

  61. Thank You for this lift

  62. Thanks, Christine. I so needed this inspiration today. And I love the quote beautifully applied!

  63. Thank you so much. I love the quote from Mrs. Eddy!

  64. Thank you for the wonderful lift with the shared video as prove for the truth within; how comforting and a reminder that we all one in the rhythm of Gods creation.

  65. Thanks for turning our gaze to the grand wonder of the night stars. My most memorable view was during a night we spent on the Grand Canyon where our view was free of any earthly light pollution. Amazing to think of the billions of stars and galaxies always in their right place and permanent. They teach grand lessons about harmony, it's Principle and reality. How do the fears and discords of the human mind fit into this harmonious universe? They don't and can't.
A statement in Science and Health reads
"The hosts of Aesculapius [the Greek and Roman god of medicine] are flooding the world with
diseases, because they are ignorant that the human mind
and body are myths." (Mary Baker Eddy, pg. 150).
Thanks Christine for pointing our gaze up toward the Principle of harmony and beauty, and away from the floods of mythology.

  66. Thank you Christine. A truly beautiful and inspiring Lift. It brings to mind the song "How Great Thou Art". God's love fills the universe of which we are all part of.
I too love the quotation from Retrospection and will remember it.

  67. Thank you so much Christine for reminding us that we are always a part of God's perfect, harmonious creation. Such a lovely, peaceful video!
Mrs. Eddy says on pg. 127 of "Science and Health": "If God, the All-in-all, be the creator of the spiritual universe, including man, then everything entitled to a classification as truth, or Science, must be comprised in a knowledge or understanding of God, for there can be nothing beyond illimitable divinity."
Thank you also to the lifters and their messages and the Daily Lift Team.

  68. Thank you, Christine, for sharing your thoughts and your home. Really beautiful!

  69. 50, Michael, please write an article. Here's your title "Unconsciousness is not a substitute for rest." :) Thanks.

  70. Thank you, Christine! Wonderful, Lift team! The ideas are very helpful and inspiring and I will definitely share this video with my family that I am visiting in Ohio. (neither like to do computer stuff much!) I felt wistful for the beauty, then excited for an upcoming trip to Colorado where I'll be able to see stars better than home in LA, but I was then alerted to not think I needed to see the stars in order to feel the peace of knowing they are there. The promise is spiritual, not material. The balance and order of the universe can be discovered in daily living - even in traffic! I loved the comments, too. Especially the two hymns shared so far and the other examples of order & balance. Thanks to #42 Kay, for that Misc. Wrings citation. I feel grateful that we are given examples of God's grandeur & order in ways we can understand, right now, where we are, and that they lift us even higher to that knowing of eternal balance and order.

  71. The rhythm of the Universe goes on without any retardation what so-ever because mortal mind is no more to be found in that rhythm. It doesn't have doubts or fears as mortals have. So what does one expect from worrying, fearing, doubting? Harmony? No, let the Universe be a roll model for us, for it follows God's law of harmonious action.
    By TOBIAS A. WEISSMAN

  72. Dear Christine,
Thank you for the lovely illustration of the universe and the so inspiring lift that left me with a comforting thought that I will cherish all day.

  73. Thank you - I never feel alone when I am gazing up at the stars, or in the wonderful mountains, or anywhere in nature - I feel so a part of it all. I understand that the great vastness and beauty and diversity of God is mine as he has provided for my every spiritual need. This thought sustains and comforts me in the midst of trials and gives me hope for healing and resurrection from any dark imposition of error.

  74. Thank you Christine, you are so joyous when you speak, what an inspiration, and you must love the wise comments from others, as I do. I'll be sure and declare these truths you've shared with my husband next time he wants me to go out and look at the night sky through his telescope with him.

  75. Beautiful and inspiring! Thank you. We are God's creation. We are God's works. Perfectly harmonious at all times and under all circumstances. We should be very grateful for this!

  76. Thank you, Christine. As always, the absolute firmness of your conviction of the Truth comes through in every word, gesture, and your tone of voice. This is also, no doubt, why your healing work is so effective.

  77. An absolutely beautiful Lift! It fits right in with the theme of a series of books on the Universe which I am currently translating from Russian. Your Lift has given me new impetus for my continuing work. Thank you so much, Christine! (I still remember your lecturing for our church -- in both French and English -- here in our Canadian capital in 2007.)

  78. Thank you Christine for such a beautiful DL. I remember as a child when I would lay out under the stars when having a sleep over in west Texas where there were few trees and a huge sky. I was always so amazed how the millions of stars made me fill I was being lifted up into the universe. I must do that again...and think of your comments. With love! Sammie

  79. With love! Sammie

  80. Thank you for this awesome Lift! The rhythm of God's universe protects and supports the harmony of all of creation, always. How wonderfully you have declared this. Thanks so much!!!

  81. Thank you Christine. What you said was so very beautiful and for me today - hit the nail on the head. Thank you so much.

    Kathi

  82. Thank you for your understanding of our harmonious universe and it's relationship to Christian Science..The video is beautifully produced, and your sincere knowledgeable presentation is very inspirational.

  83. Thank you Christine

  84. Thank you for this helpful thought. It is so beautiful and well stated it will stay with me all day. .

  85. Thank you everyone for contributing to my Daily Lift with such powerful thoughts. Mrs. Eddy's message that our harmony and the harmony of our homes, our communities, our governments, our environment, our economy, our health can never be undermined nor invaded for a moment, is a message we can rejoice in every single second of every day wherever we are. And we can and must affirm it for everyone and everything in this universe. This divine order, natural rhythm and uninterrupted harmony of God, divine Love govern every aspect of creation--the wind, the sea, the rivers, the moon and sun, the rain and snow, fire, the elements comprising the earth, the atmosphere and weather. So there cannot be any destructive elements, no excess nor lack, no disease. Harmony and health, peace and security are natural to every single person, animal, plant and element in this universe. So as we go to bed or when we wake up or when we are suddenly hit with a picture of discord, we can always stop, lift our thought up to the Christ understanding of God's unerring and uninterrupted, harmonious government, and we can simply REJOICE!

  86. Excellent inspiration and to all the lifters and DL team thank you

  87. Very timely lift and thanks for your added comments above, especially relating to no excess (i.e.floods) nor lack (droughts), as we are experiencing in California. And, as you suggest, it behooves us all who pray to keep in mind the necessity for a sense of universality in our prayers - being other-centered and all-inclusive.

  88. Thank you Christine for sharing this lovely video message, it is so good to see the beautiful different parts of the world as we are so privileged to do so through the Daily Lifts.
I love what Mrs Eddy says in S&H page 264: 32 "The universe of Spirit is peopled with spiritual beings and its government is divine Science." Also, page 503: ......"God is All-in-all", and the light of ever present Love illumines the universe. Thank you dear "spiritual beings" for all your inspirational comments.

    Thank you

  89. I love your lift, Christine! Thanks so much!

  90. Thank you so much for bringing that quotation on pg. 61 of Retrospection and Introspection to our attention. it's just exactly what i was needing. I copied the whole paragraph for study. Loved your video!

  91. Thank you so much Christine for this inspiring and helpful Daily Lift. I have prayed with this quotation - first when being helped and then using it to help and share with others whenever the opportunity arises. You presented it in such a wonderful way and one which could be easily understood. That must be beautiful seeing the night sky from your home. Thanks to all the other Daily Lifters for their helpful comments.

  92. Thanks Christine. Nice thoughts. What a great adventure the Good Lord has given us in this big beautiful universe.

  93. Amen ! Boy did I need that ! Thank you xoxo

  94. That's a Wonderful message, and just what I needed to hear and feel inside myself. Thank you for such a wonderful assurance!

  95. When I was a teenager going to school in the French-Swiss Alps for the first time, I remember looking up at the Big Dipper or Grand Wagon and thinking, This is the exact same thing I see from my parents’ backyard in Massachusetts U.S.A. Thank you for the video. I could camp out on that deck. God is an ever-present help.

  96. Thank you Christine for remining us of God's harmony in the universe--and your follow ups in comment number 37 & 85. When I let spiritual thoughts put me to sleep, I often wake up with hymn 342 "This is the day the Lord hath made"-----and ending with "Be glad, give thanks, rejoice" As you point out in comment 85, we have much to work and pray for and we have the tools to work with, thanks to Mrs. Eddy. Love hearing from you in the DL.

  97. Thank you, Christine, for the lovely thoughts and visuals!

  98. Thanks for the message on pure metaphysics.

  99. Thank you, Christine! Truly beautiful and comforting.

  100. This is my eighth time listening to you, and I shared it with many. It gives me something to re-set my perspectives on. Thanks!

  101. Thank you so much Christine for this wonderful message so grounded in Truth. I found it so comforting and helpful.

  102. Thanks for this inspiration. It hits home with me.

  103. Thanks. So helpful and so good. Couldn't listen until now, and I am about to go to bed -- so especially appropriate.

  104. Thank you so much Christine, for the great and lovely message.

  105. Thank you Christine to show us within the workshop of the Owner of the creation. A marvel.

  106. health and peace are mine now trusting god in this magnificent universe he (GOD) created; amen

  107. Thank you, Christine, and fellow Lifters, for turning my thoughts "on high". When facing challenges, it is easy to have earthly worries and forget the "much BIGGER picture". Now, instead of worrying about the small things I can't control, I will try to rejoice in the daily goodness of my existence as a child of God and dwell more in the secret places of the God's beauty and perfection in my everyday life. Focus on the good, the true . . . .

  108. This message has been a great help this week, imparting a firm consciousness of sure protection - also during the day.

It really makes such a difference when I take a few moments to realize divine Love surrounding me before I go to sleep. For example praying Mary Baker Eddy's Prayer for the little children. Better sleep and happier awaking.

  109. Thanks so much for this message and the quote from Mary Baker Eddy!!!
