12/19: God's peace and goodwill

12/19: God's peace and goodwill

  1. Thank you Lesley for another great Lift. We learn in Christian Science that Gods nature is peaceful and blessed, expressed in all His creation. The gift of the Christ allows us to demonstrate dominion over the mind that is mortal which tries to paint a completely different picture than what we know to be true. Mary Baker Eddy says in S&H page 261, "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts." A suggestion to new students of C/S: As we approach a new year many students of Christian Science will again read the textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, from cover to cover. Me being one of them. I recommend it as a wonderful worthwhile endeavor. However, based on what was once passed on to me is that it should not be read as one might go quickly through a mystery novel in anticipation of finding out "who done it." The ideas in this book need to be absorbed slowly, as it begins making changes to thought immediately. What has been helpful to me is to read a few pages a day-always with receptive thought. When you realize that each sentence has the healing power of the Christ behind it you will not want to hurry through it, but rather savor these newly discovered truths.Thank you.

  2. Thank you, Lesley..

    Love you DL community..

  3. "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. " Luke 2:14, was the angel's message of the first Christmas.
It was the peace that was coming along with the great gift of the Savior's birth, a gift that was going to stay with us perpetually, we'll benefit of this gift as long as we acknowledge it.

Oh, and dont' fear, the wold will not end, "Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty... Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Psalm 104 1:5

Jehová, Dios mío, mucho te has engrandecido; te has vestido de gloria y de magnificencia... Él fundó la tierra sobre sus cimientos; no será jamás removida. Salmo 104 1:5

  4. Gods Peace and Joy & Power to all. Thank You for this inspired daily lift

  5. Dear Lesley, Thank you for this message of peace and goodwill, emanating from our stillness, which affirms 'Christ in you, the hope of glory'. Let us all spread the love!

  6. Thank you Lesley, this is s wonderful lift!

  7. I love that idea, like a lake, we reflect more of God's beauty when we are mentally still and peaceful. And we can claim this peace for ourselves, since it is the gift of Christ. Thank you so much for this healing message, Lesley!

  8. Many thanks Lesley for this inspiring advice. Yes. "Be peaceful. [Love's] will for [all of us] is only and eternally good." "Come, all ye heavy laden,/ And I will give you life./ O peaceful words of Jesus,/ Which come to end all strife." (Christian Science Hymnal #43).

  9. Dear Lesley,

Thank you for this wonderful lift - I will send it to my beloved parents-in-law, who live near Liverpool by the way. I could not have expressed my good wishes for them this Christmas and the new year more beautifully!

  10. Lesley, Thank you

  11. Dear Lesley,

Thank you for the loving message at this special time of year. It is a gift that will renew and nourish me for now and for the coming new year.

In gratitude and love for the Daily Lift and the DL community,
    Belinda

  12. Thank you.

  13. What a dear angel message. Thank you for listening and sharing, this is just what I needed.

  14. Thank you for this lovely and inspiring Lift and to Martin #1 for the reminder of reading Science and Health through this next year or starting it now. Many thanks to every one for your thoughts.

  15. Thank you Lesley, Just what I needed to hear at that moment. In order to feel that sense of peace, our thought must be still, in the same way that if we want to see a clear reflection the water must be completely still, and to do this as Martin in #1 quotes Mrs Eddy, where she tells us to " hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true....."No wobbly there.....just steadfast assurance that, right now, all is well, no matter what the mortal senses may be seem to be saying.they only tell us lies.Life is God, and we cannot be separated from God, therefore neither we, nor those we love, can be separated from the Love of God. Thanks again Lesley.

  16. Thank You so much. This is just what I needed today. It will be read and thought of over and over today.

  17. Stillness speaks in times of fear or quiet reflection and invites God's ever present loving peace and guidance into our lives. Thank you Lesley for prompting those thoughts.

  18. I loved the music and the message - thanks to all. Adding to #1 Martin's suggested reading is "The Greatest Thing in the World" by Henry Drummond. And a tradition in my family was the reading of "The Story of The Other Wise Man" by Henry Van Dyke on Christmas Eve. Good reading to all!

!NAVIDAD!

    Muchas gracias Lesley

  20. thank you

  21. Lesley, thank you for your calming message!!
I treasure these daily lifts and the so inspiring comments from my lifter friends!! Very helpful.
Love to all and so much gratitude!

  22. A beautiful message for Christmas and the New Year! Thanks Lesley!

  23. Thank you Lesley for the lilt. When you have that peace in your heart. That is when any.healing takes place.

  24. Truly a great lift!...and the musical accompaniment is outstanding. Thank you.

  25. Thanks Lesley for the reminder that we are "...bearing witness...." thanks folks for sharing.

  26. Lovely... thank you for this peaceful lift!

  27. Thank you, Lesley, for “God’s peace and good will … the angel message of the first Christmas … ‘on earth, peace, good will to men.’ … Be peaceful. God’s will for you is only and eternally good … reflect and experience the beauty of divine being … bear witness to the Christ … claim this peace, rejoice in it … receive this peace anew every day …” and at any moment in every day! God so loved us that He gave us the gift of Jesus to show us how to live out from the Christ consciousness. The angels’ message was as a gift tag, spelling out the equation, which Jesus would prove as the shortest distance between two points: Peace on Earth = Good will to men; Good will to men = Peace on Earth. Jesus proved that God’s will for us is good will; that God’s will for us is peace - freedom from sin, sickness, disease, and death! Jesus explained and demonstrated. “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise” (Luke 6). And Jesus demonstrated and explained … “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also …” (John 14). What a gift we have been given - a gift to receive and to share! And what could be merrier than a “God’s peace and good will” Christmas??? Happy healings to one and all!!!

  28. what a wonderful christmas message..a spiritual gift..many thanks to this lift today Lesley, have a peaceful christmas celebration to all...!!!

  29. How lovely! It was just what I needed to hear today.........so peaceful and loving. The music at the end perfectly expressed the message. Thanks, so much to all the "lifters!"

  30. What a lovely idea--whatever comforting thought that brightens and strengthens your day will do the same for every one your consciousness embraces! Thank you! A perfect way to comfort those who seemed to suffer loss at the hands of another's mental turmoil, or lack of peace. Which of us would be willing to testify to such a horrible thing? But are we consistently testifying to what God is really doing through His Christ Truth?

  31. Thank you Lesley, so very lovely said. And to you have a very blessed peaceful Christmas.

  32. Thank You.

  33. Peace! Thank you, Leslie!

  34. Thank you! Oh how I love and cherish these Daily Lifts! What a gift! Thank you as well to all the commenters! More gifts of blessings! I am grateful beyond words, thank you!

  35. I used to think that when something very evil happens, like the killings in Newton Connecticut, and then hearing C/S speaking of it in a loving way, that this was cold and unrealistic. But it took this horrible killing of innocent children to wake me up to the fact that by not condemning the perpetrator to this or any other killings such as Terrorists and by loving the "HELL" out of them is the best way of lessening the evil that seems to attach itself to really God's wonderous creation. I hope I have expressed my feelings correctly.

  36. Dear Lesley,

Your Lift-message is so timely, I really need to feel that inner peace at present. Thank you for all you are doing to share the message of peace with mankind.
    much love,
    Anne

  37. Dear, dear Lesley, you are a Messenger of Peace and Goodwill to a world in need! Calming the thought, getting quiet and going within - listening to the Angel Messages from the realm of High Being - is what will help and heal our Planet at this time. We are indeed under the watchful eye of our Heavenly Loving Father/Mother. Let's open wide our thought to thisTruth and Love and see it manifested and spread over all our world and over all the universes of planets and stars and galaxies - to Infinity and Beyond! We are One!

  38. thank you.

  39. Thanlk you Lesly and ALL the liters
    for the unspeakable rich presents
    of PEACE!

  40. Thank you, Leslie. It is the time to think of these things all of the time. And, within these concepts, we find "peace and joy and power!"

    Don

  41. Thank you, Lesley, for bringing Peace to our Hearts and Mind today! Much Love to All!

  42. This is just what I needed to hear this morning, it helped me to feel that sense of peace and goodwill. Not just for me and my family, but for the entire world. I also pray for the brotherhood of man. Thank you Leslie and the daily lift team. Much love and peace to all, Amen.

  43. What a wonderful and peaceful message. By stillness and waiting on God we reflect the beauty of divine being. Holding steadfastly means no rocking the boat so to speak. Keeping the water or thought so filled with His presence that NOTHING can try to disturb and cloud the real true imagin of honor, peace and goodwill toward men and every situation.

  44. Thanks so much, Leslie...I feel Jesus' words..."my peace I give to you"....

  45. Thank you so much Leslie! I felt the peace of divine Love flowing through my whole being as I listened to your beautiful lift. I was reminded of the last few lines of a poem I wrote many years ago about reflections in a still lake:

    In moments of tranquillity,
    The farthest, faintest goal
    Reflects in deep reality
    Within one Mind, man's Soul.

Thanks also to #27 Nela, and others too, for your comments.

    Love and peace to all,
    Marilyn

  46. Thank you!!

  47. Thank you so much!!!

  48. Stillness, peace and watchful love add up to a blessed day and a year of blessing to look forward to. Thank you for this lovely Lift.

  49. Thank you for this Christmas present. The clear thought of "stillness and reflection"was so inspiring and understandable.Your good work blesses our "lift family", and all.

  50. Thank-you, Lesley, for this very clear and beautiful message/Lift! And thank-you #35 (Tobias) for your insightful & practical, spiritually loving thoughts. There is an expression: "All HELL breaks/broke loose!" which seen/interpreted with the-light-of-the-Christ, correlates with your insights: "by loving the "HELL" out of them is the best way of lessening the evil that seems to attach itself ....." Thank-you One & All.

  51. Thank you!

  52. Thank you, Lesley, for this powerful lift on peace. God's will for us it "totally good."
Also, thank you #1 for your comment to read through S&H slowly with receptivity. It's vitally important and subsequent healing will occur. Good reminder for me :-)
    xoxo

  53. Thank you - so peaceful. My heart is moved.

  54. Lovely! And with more living experience, I find the words, "be not afraid," more and more meaningful. Thank you, for your heartfelt and loving words! Merry Christmas, one and all!! --Rob of the Rockies

  55. Following on #35 Tobias A. Weissman:

Yes! I think you're really on to something. I love how you expressed it.

What we've seen through spiritual sense about the permanence of Life and Love does give us some stability and the ability to move forward rather peacefully. And part of seeing through evil's false claims is not reacting to its appearance or persuasive tactics. We don't want to agree with it in our inmost thoughts, but rather, to reverse the picture for the Truth of deathless life (and birthless Life). Of course this scientific law includes everyone.

What I've learned since Friday, though, is that we're not meant to be "macho" or "tough" in doing this, but rather, we need to be completely meek as we turn again and again to the kind and light-filled messages (angels) from God being presented to spiritual sense...our listening hearts at prayer. We're not being stoic or cold when our actions square with what we've been given in such heartfelt prayer...just honest. In my experience, those actions tend to be forward-going, life-affirming, rather than backward-ooking or frozen in anguish.

Still, a warm affection should keep us compassionate and sensitive to anyone going through a loss, even as we gently lead them out of the pit, mostly by example.

  56. thank you lesley

  57. What a powerful lift and healing message to trust to be more positive to overcome anything in our daily life. Especially after listening to a local sermon where only the hardships of the Holy Family were mourned about.

  58. Thank you, Lesley! The message gives us perfect thoughts to consider.

  59. Thank you, Lesley. On Wednesday when I first heard this Lift, it was exactly what I needed. It calmed my thoughts and I felt like those angels were speaking directly to me as you described "Be peaceful! God's will for you is only and eternally good." I wrote it down and also something from our Bible Lesson and carried it with me all week. I have also prayed to know that each individual expression of God, hears the Christ Truth speaking to him or her; that the angels are constantly communicating comfort, peace, and inspiration and that their messages are received and bear fruit. They are the only true communication: in fact "We would hear no other voices" (from hymn 58). This Lift supported my prayers for my personal peace needed for a busy week, as well as fortified my prayers regarding the Connecticut shooting. Don't let the smaller number of comments mean anything about the power of this Lift.

  60. Thank you, Leslie, for that wonderful image of a peaceful, still lake and how it is able to reflect perfectly the scene before it. I love that idea, and your beautiful Podcast!
