Thank you for this "Back to Basics" reminder; the simplicity of it all! Let go and let God. It's all so true when we realize we alone can't solve our own problems, nor those of others.

Jesus found strength in humility. He never took credit for what he did but he honored God in all he did. http://bible.cc/john/5-20.htm He taught us to be still and watch God work in our lives. He taught us that if we accept this fact we too can do what he did, and better yet. http://bible.cc/john/14-10.htm,
I remember the strong point when I took Class Instruction in Christian Science, “Get Elena out of the way and watch God act in your life.” It’s not an easy task to let go of the control, but when I did it wonderful things took place in my life.
It was a childlike feeling of just letting God do the work and trust in His Fatherly care.

Thank you Brian for that inspiring lift. Yes, "Because divine Love is always present and active, the primary wisdom is to 'be still' and then watch carefully to follow divine Love, leading us to the solution." Thank you Brian for your daily lift, very useful and relevant to looking for a job! The message is straightforward and so too is the requirement of us, to be child like, to listen and trust. I have certainly been active in attacking the problem. I'll endeavour to be still, take self out of the equation and acknowledge God's presence and work (supply) for all his children.

Thank you Brian, and No 6 too for the hymn reference; it's a big one to grasp for me so I love the story of the little boy watching while fascinated by all he saw. Trusting in God's plan. Good morning,
Listening and watching for what 'the father' is about, a wonderful reminder of just whom it is that we best witness and reflect. So it is as we 'rise up and walk' this day and every day, loving our Father's work and doing better with our work. And, watching the little and always growing children of the true Father, they with their willingness and good, now there is a key to knowing better, "Our Father, which art in heaven,...".
Thx Brian, as always 'spot on' stuff.

Oh thank you! I just loved that illustration of a one year old watching at a construction site. Many a little one in my experience has been quieted and fascinated in this way. I am picturing all ages (Grampa included) at similar sites looking on with interest at the big trucks and equipment moving and accomplishing so much on a grand scale, then thinking how we can watch Mind work on an infinite scale. The humblest turn of soil with a trowel in the garden is still an expression of Mind at work. And we can prayerfully get to God's (Love's, Truth's, etc.) construction site to watch healing go on. Wow. Thanks.

Thank you for the reminder to be still and know that God is right were we are. Hymn 82 I find has been very helpful " God is working His purpose out" and with Hymn 46 " we put our times in God's hand s" we can't go wrong. Every thing has to be right.

As your message unfolded, I immediately thought of being held, supported, carried in the arms of God's love as we all are. There is no need to think that we have a task before us that is too hard or too complicated. We watch and see that nothing is too hard for God and therefore nothing is too hard for us. Thank you!

- 6/13/2011
Also, it's important to recognize that your grandson, in his innocence and purity, had no judgment or criticism of the work going on but sheer fascination. He wasn't thinking, "That excavator SHOULD BE or SHOULDN'T BE doing this... That dump truck isn't unloading fast enough... I wonder if they really know what they're doing... I need to get in there and give them my opinions because I don't really trust what's going on... It probably won't get done when I think it should, etc, etc, etc."
No, we need to completely trust that the master plan is being fulfilled, trust that "God IS WORKING HIS purpose out," (Christian Science Hymnal) and simply love observing all the good that is PRESENT NOW. Release all judgement, criticism and fear. Wow, what a difference!
Gratitude and grace to all!

What a beautiful "picture" of calm and trust you painted in our thought. I have the feeling that by now your granson loves to go anywhere as long as he is in your arms. Kind of what happens to us when we are in His arms. Right?

- 6/13/2011
Thank you, Brian! What a calm and loving tone in your voice and message! It reminds me of what Jesus said, "What I say unto you, I say unto all, Watch." To be childlike, to be still, and to know that our (man's) watching is what brings God's work into focus for us is truly "knowing the truth"! We also need to see that our focus, our sights, are always and only on God's works, to make sure that no subtle error creeps into thought that would tempt us to leave our "Watch"! Truly the way of Watching is straight and narrow, the way to see God's kingdom present on earth now!

Thank you. A great reminder of who is "doing" - especially at the start of a busy week. Tempted to think I wasn't prepared enough for company and work projects ahead - I love the idea of watching God work it all out! In the past that idea didn't calm me, but the image of the child in arms trustingly watching in awe and the comments above - especially #26 Mary and #27 J, washed peace over me. I also loved how this Lift echoed for me the Psalms & Isaiah citations in this week's Bible Lesson which tell us to be aware of and to praise God for all His marvelous works. I am sitting here humbly aware of all the good unfolded over the weekend that allowed more time for preparations for the company, as well as quality family time before their arrival.I'm so grateful to have had this lovely reassurance that God Good is working in every detail of our life.

I walk with my 1 year old grandson and dog everyday by a construction area to watch the "twactos"(tractors). Yesterday I woke up with a shooting pain in my hip and couldn't walk without pain. Then the dog started limping for some unknown reason and I thought, 'What is going on here?'.
I finally got very still and watched God's glory all around all day long. So it was really fun to wake up to your LIFT ~and of course both the dog and I are pain free and ready to head off to the construction site again this morning with a fresh spiritual way to watch it for sure. Thank you

Construction sites are so fascinating to watch for young and old alike. Construction fences often have holes cut in them so passers by can stop and watch the work.
This lift reminds me of Jesus words "...the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise." (John 5:19 English Standard Version).
What a great invitation to stop at the construction site of the "eternal builder" and see what our heavenly Father is doing, and hear what our heavenly Mother is saying.
We might come home to find our own "house" improved.
Thanks Brian.

This is a wonderful message for me today. When I finally took me out of the picture and let God do the work, those involved came together hamoniously and decided on a color and arrangement to make our Sunday School bright and cheery. Wonderful, wonderful. Your lift reminds me of the words of a beloved Christian Scientist who said that when he first started in the practice of Christian Science healing he thought of himself as working with God. What a remarkably fresh view on an age-old topic! We do need to be reminded of Who does the work! All too often we limit ourselves by thinking we have to handle a problem on our own, while (as you point out) the real Creator/Constructor/Healer -- our divine Helper -- is right with us all along. Thanks so much for this 'lift' today!

In Japan, I often took early morning walks. It was always an inspiration to come upon a home being built by workers in the traditional Japanese style---no power tools---but chisels, mallets and pull saws. A few times a worker would notice my admiration of their skills and invite me to come in and even try out a tool. I have always enjoyed working with hand tools. The patience involved prompt holding in thought "the house built without hands --- eternal in the heavens." (S&H p.454)

And how lovely to realize that we can watch in His arms as " consciousness constructs a better body as faith in matter is conquered," as Mary Baker Eddy wrote.
Mary Reed in Highland,CA.
- 6/13/2011
Could a phrase from today's quieting lift be one of the "models in thought"
of which Mrs.Eddy speaks? She wrote,"We must form perfect models in thought and look at them continually, or we shall never carve them out in grand and
noble lives."(248:Science and Health). From the many inspiring Daily Lifts, here are a few that one might choose from as models: "Let Christ be the wings that lift thought upward." "The nowness of newness." " Do a good deed and another." "God is in the driver's seat.Mind is present and in control." "Feel the"sustaining infinite" hugging you as you lean forward." " We are already at our destination: wholeness." "Love is not something to get, but what we are." " Bless others when it's hard and you don't feel like it." "Brake for angels. Come to a complete stop. Look and listen for angel messages." "Fish in deeper waters. Think more deeply than selfishness."
Most of these,I think, are in accord with your great "Watching God Work" idea, Brian.
Thank you and all the other dear lecturers for giving us these clear ideas
to ponder and put into use.

Thank you Brian! As I started to listen to the lift, I looked out the window and although it is a very misty day here, I saw a rainbow in the mist. Very unusual! During the whole lift I listened and looked. Since my father passed away two years ago, rainbows have been a personal symbol of my dad for me, so this lift symbolized the wonderful works of our heavenly Father created in beauty and splendor as well as a medium for my earthly father to say "hello". Since my father and I share(d) the same the same line of work as dancer and choreographer, and I am about to embark on creating a dance piece where I hope, in my humble way, to reflect the joyous grace of God, this lift is a good reminder to "let go and let God" do the work of glorifying His/Her creation as a grand celebration of beauty! What a lovely start to the day!

Thank you, Mr. Talcott, for turning my thought to watch God work. Yes, I knew we are to be childlike, and yes, I knew we treat our problems by thinking about what or how God makes and keeps Creation, including us, the very ideas of divine Mind, but I hadn't thought of such simple, childlike approach to learn what I needed to know. You highlighted this very necessary thinking and watching, presenting it as sweet and observable, as well as knowable, and even fun to discover all the ways to watch each day. God is holding us, while He works. We can watch, learn, and as Jesus said, do likewise. I'll always think of this Lift when I read John 5:17-21 where Jesus revealed he had been watching the Father and had more, even greater to watch and do. You elevated these verses from being an intellectual thing, to a family relationship participation. No matter how much I know the Bible, and use it, These Daily Lifts just make it sparkle and bloom, like live, true roses, but made of precious jewels.
Thanks to all above, they were inspiring and enlightening comments.

Thanks Brian. As soon as I hung up the phone this morning from listenng to your DL, I sat still and watched as God revealed the solution to a problem I had been actively trying to resolve 'my way' for several hours during the night. Of course, the resolution was there to be seen all the time!

Brian, thank you so much. My email sometimes delivers the Daily Lift a day late. So here it is Tuesday, 14 June, and I was spinning around like a top this morning finding it hard to settle my thought. In came your Daily Lift and broke that mesmerism and enabled me to just "watch God." What a blessing!

Love this message! It is so easy to make a "problem" part of us, when in reality it has only the power we give it. I will make a special effort to remind myself to be still and watch God work today and every day.

Thank you, Brian, for this and many other thoughtful messages. What you expressed today reminds me of Jesus' teaching, "What I say unto you, I say unto all: Watch", and "Seek and ye shall find", and Paul's, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus". All these encourage us to cultivate an attitude that is attentive to God, to "Be still and know that I am God". So many times I have found comfort, and healing, and answers to problems by practicing watchfulness and attentiveness. And this is actually witnessing God's work, what He has already done. Much gratitude to all the speakers and to the staff for these Daily Lifts that express the Christ Science so concisely, so clearly, for all to practice.

Thanks Brian, I had listen to the message on Monday and could not write any comments. I was 'dealing' with a problem that seemed to persist regardless of my efforts by means of prayer. This morning, two days after your 'lift' was publised I noticed that I was not childlike, not still, not watching the work of God but listening to mortal mind confusing my understanding. I listened to your message again and immediately noticed that I don't have to do God's work but just stop, be childlike, still and watch how He does the job. Such a peaceful solution overcame all troubles at hand. I am so grateful for this inspired program and the helpful comments.

Gracias Brian.

Thank you, Brian, and all the divine comments of fellow Lifters around the world! We are so blessed to have this wonderful "daily treatment" mentioned earlier. I love the tone of your voice, Brian, so calm, so reassuring, that if we simply have that childlike trust we are all born with, all truly will be well! It is so easy to forget what it feels like to just YIELD and let God do His work through each of our lives. So tempting to want to give "suggestions" along the way! But as you touched on, why not just watch and accept. instead of suggest!

I like that this entire audience for the Mother's Church Lecturers, . . . the entire audience has a perfect, unostructed view.
We can all view God's work expressing our God-given energy, equality, and dignity.
Nation, gender, age, belief fall silent when we watch, reflect, God's work.

- 6/13/2011Jesus found strength in humility.

- 6/13/2011Thank you Brian for that inspiring lift. - 6/13/2011Thank you Brian for your daily lift, very useful and relevant to looking for a job! The message is straightforward and so too is the requirement of us, to be child like, to listen and trust. I have certainly been active in attacking the problem. I'll endeavour to be still, take self out of the equation and acknowledge God's presence and work (supply) for all his children.

- 6/13/2011Good morning,
Listening and watching for what 'the father' is about, a wonderful reminder of just whom it is that we best witness and reflect.

- 6/13/2011Oh thank you! Wow. Thanks.

- 6/13/2011Thank you for the reminder to be still and know that God is right were we are. Hymn 82 I find has been very helpful " God is working His purpose out" and with Hymn 46 " we put our times in God's hand s" we can't go wrong. Every thing has to be right.

- 6/13/2011As your message unfolded, I immediately thought of being held, supported, carried in the arms of God's love as we all are. There is no need to think that we have a task before us that is too hard or too complicated. We watch and see that nothing is too hard for God and therefore nothing is too hard for us. Thank you!

AB
- 6/13/2011Also, it's important to recognize that your grandson, in his innocence and purity, had no judgment or criticism of the work going on but sheer fascination.

- 6/13/2011Thank you so much Brian for a great lift!
What a beautiful "picture" of calm and trust you painted in our thought. I have the feeling that by now your granson loves to go anywhere as long as he is in your arms. Kind of what happens to us when we are in His arms. Right?
Very healing message.
Thank you!
Be Watchful
- 6/13/2011Thank you, Brian!

- 6/13/2011Thank you.

- 6/13/2011I walk with my 1 year old grandson and dog everyday by a construction area to watch the "twactos"(tractors).
Thank you

- 6/13/2011Construction sites are so fascinating to watch for young and old alike.

- 6/13/2011This is a wonderful message for me today. When I finally took me out of the picture and let God do the work, those involved came together hamoniously and decided on a color and arrangement to make our Sunday School bright and cheery. Today the painters start and your message reminds us to go and watch the beauty of the one Mind come to fruition. This is a very timely Daily Lift for us. Thank you ever so much for your inspiration.

- 6/13/2011Wonderful, wonderful. Your lift reminds me of the words of a beloved Christian Scientist who said that when he first started in the practice of Christian Science healing he thought of himself as working with God. As he progressed he changed his thought to working for God. And finally his thought grew to the realization that he was WATCHING GOD WORK.

- 6/13/2011In Japan, I often took early morning walks.

- 6/13/2011And how lovely to realize that we can watch in His arms as " consciousness constructs a better body as faith in matter is conquered," as Mary Baker Eddy wrote.
Mary Reed in Highland,CA.
- 6/13/2011Could a phrase from today's quieting lift be one of the "models in thought"
of which Mrs.Eddy speaks?

- 6/13/2011What a great reminder . . . I have to laugh at the times I still find myself praying and asking God to help ME do something . . .when what is needed is for me to surrender any sense of a separate self, and see God as the supreme Doer, and me as His unfailing reflection . .

- 6/13/2011Thank you Brian!

- 6/13/2011Brian your message and reminder that God goes before us in working his perfect solution in our lives to meet our every need is indeed the inspiration needed for my daily lift. Thank you.

- 6/13/2011What a wonderful image! And your calm, sweet tone just matched the the message. Too often, I forget that I'm not the engineer of my life and its activities! This Lift was just a perfect antidote and will stay with me far more than just today!

- 6/13/2011Thanks to #57 - sharing the 3 part progression of your practitioner friend and to #69 for saying they would take their hand "off the tiller [the steering mechanism/wheel of a sailboat] and watch [God do the work]".....all the the comments are SO inspiring and thanks to the Lift "team" for all that you do Monday thru Friday...and beyond!

- 6/13/2011I love this message from God, who chose the perfect messenger to deliver it.
I also love #30 AB's comment, including its "Gratitude and grace to all" benediction.

- 6/13/2011Thank you, Mr.

- 6/13/2011Thank you so much- that was a wonderful reminder and boy, did I need it! I've been worrying about finding the ideal new home for me, now that I have a buyer for my house. But now I will just watch as God leads me to my hew place. After all, I am home already so the right place is already assured.
All the best and many thanks,

- 6/13/2011This is wonderful. I listened around 6 a.m. Maine time, but didn't have time to leave a comment. I have just re-listened, and will do so again tomorrow. This is helpful to me and I know to many others.

- 6/13/2011Thanks so much, Brian, for this simple and powerful analogy. And thanks to all the Lifters who have added their valuable thoughts. I especially enjoyed #30 AB's comments and also #81, J.S.'s comments. A final thanks to all the Daily Lift staff and to the BofL for providing this valued communication.

- 6/13/2011Thank you Brian for today's message. I made it a point to be still and listen today. I especially love comments # 30, # 40 # 67 and # 76 - very meaningful to me.

- 6/13/2011Recently I was in a situation that was a bit frustrating. I was too far from the problem to manipulate a solution and I was starting to feel a bit helpless. There was nothing left to do but trust God. Lo and behold, things worked out beautifully. Next time I plan to do the trusting thing before the feeling helpless thing! Thanks, Brian, for your beautiful reminder that an important part of our job is to bear witness to God's ongoing, glorious work!

- 6/14/2011Lovely, Brian. And #52 for your 'lift'. You said you 'watched God's glory all around all day long". A practitioner once wrote and said, "the only thing going on is the good passing before us."
Grace will see us through. So appreciate all the gracious comments.

- 6/14/2011Thanks Brian. As soon as I hung up the phone this morning from listenng to your DL, I sat still and watched as God revealed the solution to a problem I had been actively trying to resolve 'my way' for several hours during the night. Of course, the resolution was there to be seen all the time!

- 6/14/2011Brian, thank you so much. My email sometimes delivers the Daily Lift a day late. So here it is Tuesday, 14 June, and I was spinning around like a top this morning finding it hard to settle my thought. In came your Daily Lift and broke that mesmerism and enabled me to just "watch God." What a blessing!

- 6/14/2011Love this message! It is so easy to make a "problem" part of us, when in reality it has only the power we give it. I will make a special effort to remind myself to be still and watch God work today and every day.

- 6/14/2011Thank you, Brian, for this and many other thoughtful messages.

- 6/14/2011Thank you, Brian, and all the divine comments of fellow Lifters around the world!

- 6/18/2011Here it is many days after this was shared and it is still blessing. The words were just what I needed to hear today (Sat.). Thank you, thank you. So beautifully shared. Loved the image of Grandpa and Owen sharing a precious moment just observing.

- 6/29/2011I like that this entire audience for the Mother's Church Lecturers, . . . the entire audience has a perfect, unostructed view.
We can all view God's work expressing our God-given energy, equality, and dignity.
Nation, gender, age, belief fall silent when we watch, reflect, God's work.
