Thank you, Shirley, for this wonderfully inspiring and helpful Lift! The video illustrates it beautifully as well. It's reminding me of Hymn 72 from the Christian Science Hymnal, "Glory be to God on high" (words by Charles Wesley and John Ryland), which describes goodness as "one eternal stream". And nothing can ever stop it flowing! :D

Just like the water which never quits going downstream and it will always find its way down, likewise, God’s love for His children never quit. Regardless of our fears, excuses, doubts or human circumstances, God, our deliverer, is always a thought away.
We don’t need to inform our loving Father-Mother of our problem for help to get us out of a jam, all we have to do is to know —and acknowledge— that we are already part of His al-loving thoughts and the light bulb will go on.
Remember that God was with Moses when he ordered him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and gave Moses the courage to ask Pharaoh, “Let my people go” http://bible.cc/exodus/9-1.htm.
We can rest assure that God will be with us as when we need Him. “If God is for us who can be against us?” http://bible.cc/romans/8-31.htm

Dear Shirley,
Like a mountain stream, your animated video lift, and the audio lift were fluid, clear, and refreshing. I loved how the visual version was able to illustrate some of the things that would try to impede the forward movement of the stream, and also alluded to biblical references in Exodus about many frogs on the Egyptian land which convinced Pharoah to let the Hebrews go out of Egypt under the steady guidance of Moses.
We could also think of the power of God to bring light and motion in our lives when considering voltage being applied to a circuit, and the electrical current overcomes any resistance in the circuit, and the light bulb always lights to dispel darkness and fear when the switch is thrown to complete the circuit.
God is always impelling His idea forward, and He removes any obstructions in the way, or guides us around them or through them, bringing us into the light and harmony of each and every day. Our work each day is to glorify Him by keeping ourselves in the light, and remembering how and when to "throw the switch" so we can bathe ourselves, and our communities, in that light. What cannot God do?

Thank you for this Lift, Shirley, and that wonderful stream heading single mindedly to the sea. At various times it would seem I had presented God with brick walls, obstructions and resistance, but "He never never quits!" And once that logjam is past, life is so joyful and freeflowing to be on God's way again.
Thank you for this week's list of Lifts, Nathan; to the BoL, the lecturers and our Lifters.

I'm trying to work out how to record a video-graphic of applause and place it in this little box that I usually reply along! Thank you,Shirley, for these streams of living waters to comfort and enable us today. Really appropriate to my need. I had a sleepless night in study and prayer handling a boulder or two that seem to be obstructing the flow. This is a really lovely thought to wake to, and keep with me throughout what seem to be big challenges! The second part of the hymn ..where streams of living waters flow, continues, "And where the verdant pastures grow, with food celestial feedeth" In this consecrated place of Love I can, we all can, be nourished with solutions and healing. Happy weekend, blessings and love.

I like your choice of that Bible quote because it includes us all: "if God be for us who can be against us?" And to know that as I pray for myself, all are being blessed and helped along the way.
As Mrs. Eddy so wisely discerned in her definition of the "I or Ego" from Science and Health page 588.....Divine Principle; ... there is but one I, or Us, but one divine Principle or Mind, governing all existence."
Thanks for helping to jump-start the day!

Thank you, Shirley, for a new view on how I manage to get past the wall. I've hit that brick wall so many times, it should be weakened enough by now to push over, by anyone after me. When I hit it, I”d often mentally collapse in despair, maybe cry. Soon, however, I'd find myself mentally trying to find a way around, over, dig under, or maybe find loose bricks to remove and wiggle through a hole. Eventually, I'd get by it for I knew there HAD to be a way to get beyond. Prayer helped. I never likened this to God as a stream insistently taking me forward. CS Hymn # 182, by Trench, says:
“Make channels for the streams of Love, where they may broadly run;
And Love has overflowing streams, To fill them every one.”
Instead of my struggles with the wall, what got me beyond was my certainty that there was a way. That was making a channel for Love's streams, which moved me away from the wall and forward. Before, I could almost visualize there was something with the wall that would yield a way. Today I see it was the flow of Love's streams carrying me past obstacles. This will help my efforts, too, if there is a “next time”. I know I'll remember this Lift!
The hymn's next 2 verses may hold clues to why we hit brick walls, why we cease to see a way through. We may need to share Christian Science more, and give more of ourselves to Church, community, & for people we know. Love flows through us and we mustn't try to dam it up to avoid getting involved with others' problems.

Dejemos correr las aguas
que bajan puras desde lo alto
del pensamiento divino...
Cuando las dejamos libres
sin estorbos de temores y dudas
ellas bajan suavemente...
Como caricia de niño de pecho
a traves de nuestra confunción
limpiando de asperezas el cauce
con torrentes de cristalinas aguas.
No hay dique de construcción humana
que contengan la omnipotente marea
y como a Moises, cierra sus cauces
para que pase el pueblo de Dios.

Both the message and the video express such a clear thought of the everflowing channels of good coming from our divine source, God, that absolutely nothing can obstruct. To add to #24 J.S. in Kentucky. here are the next two verses of Hymn 182 just in case someone doesn't have a C.S. Hymnal:
But if at any time we cease
Such channels to provide,
The very founts of love for us
Wil then seem parched and dried.
For we must share, if we would keep
That blessing from above;
They cease to have who cease to give;
Such is the law of Love.
Thanks to all who haven't ceased to share their good thoughts!

Thank you for this beautiful inspiration, Shirley! So much to think about...
There have been times in my life where I have looked back and been grateful for "obstacles" and the lessons they have taught me...
I have always loved this quote by Wendell Berry:
It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work and when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.”

Hey Shirl! Welcome back! We've missed You! Loved your streaming words of the constant, assuring Love of God, flowing no matter what! This wonderful Lift reminded me of a quote from Mrs. Eddy's Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "Fear never stopped Being and it's action." What a wonderful key to hold on to - not any of our Fears, Doubts, Discouragement, Hatred, Sadness, Madness, etc. can ever stop God's constant care for us. Sooooo we might as well - "Go with the Flow!" Happy Flowing Weekend to All!

Dear Shirley,
THank you for the beatiful lift. As a child in Hawaii, our yard had a lovely stream at the back of it, and we spent hours playing it it. Sometimes we used to take leaves and place them in little eddies where the water seemed not to be moving, and then watch, fascinated, knowing that the stream would flow into that area quickly or eventually, and off the leaf would go.
Sometimes when things seemed to be stalled, caught or not moving as we think they should, we can cast all our cares on God, knowing that there is no stagnation in God, and that nothing but good exists.
Kindest thoughts,
Kalani

As a veteran ultra runner, I have "hit the wall" many times, whether its a 4 hour or a 24 hour race. Interestingly, the toughest wall usually appears about three quarters of the way, regardless of the race length. But it has taught me to focus on Love--loving the course, the volunteers and fellow runners, family and friends who have encouraged me--and through this love, to "see" the "divine energy of Spirit" being manifested through my colleagues--and thus to be so very grateful. Much enjoyed #25 and 34. We must share--in whatever way Love directs.
I have learned that I will always "go through" that wall--which is really a "wall of illusion".

Oh my. THANK you, Shirley, and DL team. This message just washed through me and helped recalibrate my thinking.
I can feel God's Truth flowing through me, not even hesitating at whatever mortal life would set up as "obstacle"--mortal mind calls it obstacle, but stream of Life calls it something to swoosh and swirl around and past. And as it flows past, I hear that lovely "singing" of the water. It doesn't stop and fight with the obstacle, or moan about whyohwhyohwhy . . . it just keeps on its way, fluid and joyous and free.
Amen.

A streams flow can be blocked by a dam. I have been very grateful for the Christian Science insight that the big dam to our perfect and free-flowing experience as God's children is the Adam and Eve dream. When we see the falsity of that dream nothing interferes with the harmony of life and we don't have to search for a "garden of Eden." Perfection is everywhere. There aren't any dams.

Thanks, Shirley for your clear Lift. The message is so simple. Nothing, not matter, circumstance, power, place, or the belief of material origin can obstruct the inflowing and ever flowing of Mind's perfect and powerful presence. There is always a way that Mind knows to move its own perfect ideas forward. The ideas of God take us forward in our spiritual growth and therfore move us forward in our every day lives. "Progress is the law of God..." We can't excape our movement forward just like the water in a stream can't stop moving. God is with us every step of the way on our journey forward.

Shirley: Thanks so much. As an ex-Boating Instructor, I could really relate to what you were saying about the stream. You have to "read the topography" of the stream in order to navigate forward through it; so, in our spiritual journey in life, we have to navigate "the water" of our experience, not running into the the "rocks" of doubt, fear, or disillusionment".
Another thing about water that is significant is found in the book of Acts where Paul talks about the shipwreck at Malta where the front part of the ship was responding to & hit by the waves whereas the "the hinder part was stuck", and was dashed to pieces by the waves....We must not be stuck in any part of our experience, but if we are wise, we will focus upon/center our lives on spiritual things to help us respond better to some of the daunting challenges life throws our way...Then WE will not be dashed to pieces either........................Really great to hear from you.................................Bob Weiss

A great, clever example. Going down the stream, or "with the flow" is really staying with God, as there is no "flow". All is infinite Spirit surrounding us right now and right where we are. But Shirley's example of the stream or river with rocks of fear, doubt, procrastination, lack of energy, lack of integrity, etc., whatever it might seem to be (suggestion/illusion) in the way, divine Mind intelligence just carries on without interference. Thank you for the excellent example.

Wow! Wondeful! Words, music, and animation so appropriate and meaningful.
I loved the excuses on the logs and boulders, but the water keeps on flowing.
I loved the No, No, No! I am not one who takes no for an answer very often. In sales, when a person first says "No", the salesperson usually asks, "Why?". The customer usually gives one or more reasons. Usually, a salesperson's real 'work' is just starting with a "no". This gives the salesperson an opportunity to tell more about the product and all that the product can do, as solutions for the customer. If the salesperson can find the solutions, they usually can make the sale.
This lift reminds me that God's solution is ALWAYS THERE. We might have to look for it, acknowledge that it IS there, and then ACT on it, but it is always there.
I am reminded of the word neutral. Especially in an automobile, but also in life. In neutral gear, one neither goes forward nor backward, just stays in one place. (stagnant? inactive? ),One can move forwards towards a goal using forward gear in an auto. One can also put the auto in reverse, and appear to be going backwards, but can steer the car in a half circle and go in the direction of the goal and can reach the goal, maybe not in the way imagined, but still possible to reach the desired goal. Did you know that the lights for forward and reverse gears are green (go!) and Neutral is red (stop). Don't stay in Neutral! FLOW! RIDE THE LIVING WATERS! LIVE!

I'm a fan of Wendell Berry's essays, so I enjoyed seeing #35's inclusion of that thought-provoking quotation.
As I read everyone's posts, I started to think about how not to push change, but rather to open my spiritual sense to see what God is impelling or helping me to see of Her already-perfect creation, unfolding perfection.

Thanks Shirley and DL Team for the message and video--love it! I was really right up against a very solid wall when I tuned in this morning--almost in desparation--and of course, as is so often case, the DL was right on target. Your message did indeed carry me up over the (mental) obstruction throughout the day in a very practical way! Sooo grateful!!!

Thank you Shirley for this timely lift. I just had a Pharroh judge ask me on Friday where my irreparable harm was after days and days of testimony to save a pond on a case where a man took out hundreds of trees on a high slope land leaving soil barren to migrate into a pond and kill the fish. When I brought up the 30 huge dead trees and the dead fish- the Judge was somehow not so impressed. He told me I only had photos of a few dead fish. Yes and expert testimony about what is going to happen further if the guy does not put erosion control measures in.
Thank you for your analogy of the stream and reminding me that God over-rules all the improper decisions of the world. All the obstacles to good will be overcome. No brick walls- the matter is under advisement and I am knowing God will advise.

Many thanks to you, Shirley, for this wonderful reminder of the constant flow of God, Spirit, never being held back by any false beliefs. I, too, have spent many wonderful prayerful times being led around (never touching) problems that would confront me. Hymn #182 in the Christian Science Hymnal has come to me in many a dark hour, gently and firmly guiding my thoughts in the channels of "streams of love".
I'm so grateful for all these beautiful Daily Lifts.

Thank you, Shirley, and the wonderful DL Team! Audio and Visual! Now, that's carrying God's ever-flowing stream of Love and Truth and goodness in a great way! The reminder about Moses and his "never giving up" is such a good message for me. I will erase all the "no's" just as the graphics show in the video. I am so grateful for these Daily Lifts.

It's reminding me of Hymn 72 from the Christian Science Hymnal, "Glory be to God on high" (words by Charles Wesley and John Ryland), which describes goodness as "one eternal stream". - 9/16/2011Just like the water which never quits going downstream and it will always find its way down, likewise, God’s love for His children never quit.

- 9/16/2011Dear Shirley,
Like a mountain stream, your animated video lift, and the audio lift were fluid, clear, and refreshing.

- 9/16/2011Thank you for this Lift, Shirley, and that wonderful stream heading single mindedly to the sea.

- 9/16/2011I'm trying to work out how to record a video-graphic of applause and place it in this little box that I usually reply along!

- 9/16/2011I like your choice of that Bible quote because it includes us all: "if God be for us who can be against us?" And to know that as I pray for myself, all are being blessed and helped along the way.
As Mrs. Eddy so wisely discerned in her definition of the "I or Ego" from Science and Health page 588.....Divine Principle; ... there is but one I, or Us, but one divine Principle or Mind, governing all existence."
Thanks for helping to jump-start the day!

- 9/16/2011Thank you, Shirley, for a new view on how I manage to get past the wall.
“Make channels for the streams of Love, where they may broadly run;

- 9/16/2011Both the message and the video express such a clear thought of the everflowing channels of good coming from our divine source, God, that absolutely nothing can obstruct. To add to #24 J.S. in Kentucky. here are the next two verses of Hymn 182 just in case someone doesn't have a C.S. Hymnal:
But if at any time we cease
Such channels to provide,
The very founts of love for us
Wil then seem parched and dried.
For we must share, if we would keep
That blessing from above;
They cease to have who cease to give;
Such is the law of Love.
Thanks to all who haven't ceased to share their good thoughts!

- 9/16/2011Hey Shirl!

- 9/16/2011Dear Shirley,
THank you for the beatiful lift.
Kindest thoughts,
Kalani

- 9/16/2011As a veteran ultra runner, I have "hit the wall" many times, whether its a 4 hour or a 24 hour race.

- 9/16/2011Oh my.
Amen.

- 9/16/2011Thank you Shirley, I love it! And thank you J. S. from Ken., your comments reminded me of an article of Mrs. Eddy's on body,Jan.19, 1886. Divine Love fills every avenue, flows through every channel and removes every obstruction."

- 9/16/2011A streams flow can be blocked by a dam.

- 9/16/2011Thanks, Shirley for your clear Lift.

- 9/16/2011Shirley: Thanks so much.

- 9/16/2011A great, clever example.

- 9/16/2011Wow!
LIVE!
Hi Daily Lifters,
A sincere thank you for the Paul Stark Seeley article in the Christian Science Journal vol. 62 about No memory of evil. It was suggested earlier this week to read and it was worth it, as I went to the reading room today.
And thanks Shirley for the daily lift on The Stream. Very true, Love always has a way, there are no obstacles in God's kingdom. Love keeps flowing always.
Thanks also to Marta Greenwood CSB for the 911 lecturer as I got to hear that at the reading room too. Hooray for the Reading Rooms all over the world!

- 9/16/2011Dear Shirley,
Such a good message! I really enjoyed it, and the video was an added bonus. It's always interesting to find how many comments take the original idea and expand on it in very helpful and inspiring ways.
Love to one and all.

- 9/16/2011very lovely illustrations, but a profound metaphysical idea; that GOD, devine Love is always for us, on our side to help and guide us through all seeming obstacles, how big they may seem - thanks very much!

- 9/16/2011Thanks, Shirley, and lovely animation team.
God is always expanding our experience in ways beyond our imagining, while keeping us safe and comforted. Thank you, God.

- 9/17/2011Thanks Shirley.
I loved your lift today.
I thought that the stream was going to represent mankind and remind us that we should never stop moving forwards. Suggesting that the stream represents God made me stop and think, of course, nothing can stop God's love for us.

- 9/17/2011Thanks Shirley and DL Team for the message and video--love it! I was really right up against a very solid wall when I tuned in this morning--almost in desparation--and of course, as is so often case, the DL was right on target. Your message did indeed carry me up over the (mental) obstruction throughout the day in a very practical way! Sooo grateful!!!

- 9/17/2011Thank you Shirley for this timely lift.

- 9/17/2011Many thanks to you, Shirley, for this wonderful reminder of the constant flow of God, Spirit, never being held back by any false beliefs.

- 9/17/2011Thank you, Shirley, and the wonderful DL Team!
