Oh, John thanks soooo much. Just seeing the title and your name started a smile that has turned into a gigantic grin. Sometimes we need a reminder to let our light shine. And each time I smile or see someone else smile, I'll remember that we are celebrating the presence of Love!!!

I was actually just about to choke back a tear, as I am working through what seems to be a tough situation. As I finished an email, and went back to my inbox, there was the title of my Daily Lift!! SMILE!!
Could God be any greater??!! And it is that easy.... just smile!!
I am so grateful for having these inspirational thoughts passed around the world each day!!

JOHN, I love that name I have it too on my three names. NO seriously. I loved this morning lift. Yes I did the exercise of smiling that you gave and Yes it spread such a surge of good feelings throughout my entire being, and lasted till the end of your daily lift. I'm doing TaiJi, and my teacher says to smile. Through you, I have now understood what he is getting at. WOW ! I will be everso more pleased to just let it out, as naturally as it is. THANK-YOU, JOHN !

That's nice and easy to do, thank you, for suggesting and stating the best motive for smiling, Mr Tyler. When I first visited the U.S. I noticed that people smile at you most of the time which I thought was lovely. And I decided to take that habit home since -most?- Germans tend to show earnest, unsmiling faces probably questioning the reason if one gives them a smile. Knowing and showing Love is good reason to smile. Thank you!

Thank you John.
Your 'Daily Lift' helped remind me of a little song I used to sing once:-
'You can smile when you can't say a word,
You can smile when you cannot be heard,
You can smile if its cloudy or fair,
You can smile anytime, anywhere'.
I am going for my daily walk singing this song and I will count
the smiles I give and the smiles I receive.

This "Daily Lift" is one of the best yet. I've been playing it over and over again today, smiling and smiling again. And, yes, it does feel good to smile, even when my body may not be "smiling" -- feeling good. Thank you so much for taking my thought off of my body and re-directing it towards divine Love and the joy of Life.

Thank you so much for this heartwarming message. When we smile, when we smile with that light from within, our eyes smile too and we have that moment of divine consciousness where we are seeing and feeling and expressing the beautiful expression of love. We used to sing: "A smile is something - you can give it away, give it away, give it away,
A smile is something - you can give it away and it comes right back to you!
It's just like a magic penny, hold on tight and you won't have any,
lend it, spend it, give it away and it comes right back to you!
No one can sing it without smiling to every one!

I just love these lifts! I have told many about these and encourage more to sign up to receive them each day. What a glorious way to start the day. It also keeps our thought on track as well. Thanks again. The "hey, hey, hey" at the tntroduction of the lifts is a smile in itself. Remember the TV show, Candid Camera? Well instead of their popular saying here is a newer one, " Smile, you're in God's kingdom."

Thanks so much John!! I was in Russia last year, and smiling a lot in the subways, etc.. out of habit I guess. But the Russians don't smile, and it made me wonder why. Probably because they have been through a lot of sad times, and things are hard there. Then a Russian told me, if one smiles, they think you are an idiot! Well, I thought, that's OK, because I am not giving up my joy because of that belief! It's great to show a smile to the world, and refuse to nuckle under to mortal mind! (Good to hear from Annette in Berlin after a long hiatus!---(smile).

Thank you John!
What a wonderful message to wake up to this morning.
It made me remember a time when my world was full of reasons not to smile.
One early morning I was on the bus to go to work. I had a long commute to a job I didn't like and I couldn't cry, which I felt like doing, because I would have mascara running down my face when I got there.
Silly, but my vanity turned me to God. I prayed "God please help me not cry." And what came to thought was "Give me a little SMILE!" No one could see me so I mechanically turned up my lips in a poor excuse for a smile and it was like a light turned on in my thought. I suddenly felt loved again.... It was wonderful..That simple gesture reminded me that God's love is always with us no matter what we are going through.. We are loved and can smile.....Thanks for that powerful reminder...

Thank you so very much for confirming what I have been doing for years. Just letting God shine through my smile. I had someone ask me one time, if I smiled all of the time. I answered, "I try to!" It is love being reflected as opposed to the nothingness of error that would try to absorb you. Thank you again, for reminding us of "letting your light so shine"!

Thank you, John. I have a long picture above my front door. It is a greeting card that I had framed. At the beginning it says, "The thought for the day, this is followed by a string of their signature little animals, each with a big grin, at the end of the three foot card is the word SMILE. I always point it out to my guests because that way they can't leave without a smile. It has been in my home in CA, TX, GA, TN, and again GA. See how far a smile can travel. Thanks again for your inspiring lift.

It did feel healing to smile----and it did shift thought from me-first concerns about the day, problems to tackle, issues I thought I had to resolve. Then to link it to God illuminating, inspiring, designating and leading the way, and all we have to do is follow shows us why there is a reason to smile throughout the day. It does set us free. Our smiling throughout the day can be a reminder that Love is in control, so we don't have to try to be. Thanks!

"SMILE". What a wonderful message to wake up to. You know John, I've been accused of smiling too much for the longest time in my life, but I can't help that I am God's daughter who loves to express His perfect idea and qualities. HI Mr. Tyler,
I loved hearing this lift today. I was in your Sunday School class many years ago in the late 80's when I was an undergrad student at Carnegie Mellon Univerity in Pittsburgh. I wish I had had the thought that I have now, then. I learned a lot from you although I wasn't in the class probably past my freshman or sophomore year. I ended up taking a bus out to Mckeesport each Sunday to be their soloist. What a dear group of people that was. I still embrace them in my thought, and all the good I learned from you as well. This, made me SMILE!

Joy. Love, Happiness, are contagious when we smile. I loved the songs #12 and #31 especially. I write down thoughts that resonate with me each day that I listen to the Daily Lift. It's kind of like journaling. I wrote down those 2 songs and hope to memorize them soon. Thanks.

You made me happy, John.
I was taught that as a reader we are not supposed to smile when reading the Welcome to the visitors, because "a smile is a human emotion and we are only here to radiate a higher spirituality".
I always felt like you that a smile is:
"Letting Love, God shine. We're setting love free... celebrates it's presence. Let that love be visible to others. Love inspiries."
You liberated me from what I was taught CS is. Thank you. I hope that the people who have been trained like me, and those doing the training, learn about the positive benefits of a "human" smile. It is really a way to let God, Spirit, show through.

I have always loved C. Chapliin's song "Smile" and the other references made by your listeners today. A smile is the best face-lift any of us can have. I am a volunteer in a facility serving those who have Alzheimer's. I have found that even those persons who are mostly unresponsive, do respond to a genuine smile, a loving touch and the knowledge that someone cares about them. A smile is the least expensive and most valuable gift you can give to anyone and it always lifts you up also. Thank you , John for this wonderful lift today.

What an enlighting definition of Smile! Much better than Webster's! Recognizing the power and purpose behind our smiles is so important. Thank you for this new and inspried meaning. If you take the time to smile
Then before you're through
Someone will be smiling back at you."

It is late in the afternoon in Virginia...and for a couple of reasons I did not feel like smiling when I opened the computer..
However your admonition to 'just give it a try' just smile
indeed made me smile ...so simple and it broke right through the
messmerism of stormy days and stormy thoughts..How Perfect..
I also loved Peter's .#12 thought about a smile "when it is cloudy or fair"
how perfect...a simple smile is not inhibited by sun or rain or even a sad
thought or two :O)

A smile celebrates Love’s presence-
to celebrate is to praise, show respect...to rejoice...
I can't think of a better way to share than with a heart-felt, Love filllled smile!
Pure joy!!

John, as a new student of Christian Science, I attended my first Christian Science lecture which you gave in the church I attended. I don't remember the topic of your lecture, but when I went down to greet you after the lecture, I told you that I was new to Christian Science and was told to not let anyone complicate it for me but to "keep it simple." And I think that you smiled when you said that! That inspiring message helped me, as I know your uplifting message of today to just simply smile in order that Truth and Love shine and brighten our path and that of others, will help me to keep it simple as I smile today and every day.
Thank you for your advice back in my early days of studying Christian Science and for your loving message today.

I just came home from a busy, hectic day at work and i couldn't wait to read the daily lift. (I missed it before work.) I really needed a spiritual lift and boy did I get it! I smiled, then I laughed, because I realized I had been giving power to error. All better now!! Thanks for the "smile" and the lift!

Thanks for this happy reminder.
A smile comes from inside, but shows up outside!
And it feels so good.
Then, not surprisingly, when you're walking down the street you pass someone and they are smiling back at you! --and you didn't even realize you already had a smile on your face! Happens all the time!
"Each smile a hymn -- each kindly deed a prayer." (from a hymn)
So smiling is (like) praising God when we sing.

How wonderful! I have been so missing my "Daily Lifts" as I have waited a whole week for my new modem which I have just configured, enabling me to be 'online' again. As the masses of e-mails are flowing into my 'inbox', I snuck a look at this and have kept smiling through the 143 comments and intend to continue to smile whilst reading through all the e-mails. I must say I have no difficulty in smiling or being happy but you have put a different slant on it all. Thank you John, so much!

Thank you, Mr. Tyler!! What a lot of Love you have turned loose today!
All of these passages that have been opened for "the streams of Love,"
(Hymn 182). I am so grateful to you and all the other contributors to the Daily Lift - I feel like I am joining hands (well, thoughts) with the "brotherhood" each day.

What a beautiful daily lift. Paramahansa Yogananda tells us "Be a smile millionaire!" Even if you don't feel like it, put a smile on your face and see how much better it makes you feel. This fits so wonderfully with your lift, the idea that sharing a smile is taking us out of ourselves and our personal problems and sharing God's love with those around us. And it makes us feel so much better! Thank you again.

I'm laughing as I just checked the number of comments being made on the various posts.. and the 155 comments to yours is the highest number of recent posts.. And I was not surprised after hearing its message.
What stood out to me was the realization that it Was/Is divine Love that 'inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way'. As many years as I've been familiar with that statement, I'd never thought about putting the emphasis on Love rather than the words that follow. A Major insight..
Once again reminded, "For it is God(divine Love) which worketh in you both to will and to do of His(Her/Love's) good pleasure." - Paul Phillipians 2:13
Thank you!

... that seems to be the proof: a simple smile, and a rich rain of responses to that smile all across the world. And what inspiration I've received from your messages!
Let's keep it up: the smile and what's behind it are obviously powerful, and contagious.
Heartfelt thanks to you all.

I have been enjoying all the Daily Lifts for about a month now, but this one moved me to tears. I had just been talking to a CS friend about how hard it is sometimes to just love. Thanks, John! Let's all remember to smile as we sing our hymns in church, as we listen to the soloist on the platform during Sunday services and as we listen to the wonderful lesson-sermon being read on Sundays and during the readings from the desk on Wednesday. Aren't those wonderful times to let Love be expressed! Also the idea just occurred to me to substitute the word "pray" for "smile" as applicable to the I Thessalonians passage "pray without ceasing." Wouldn't that be something wonderful!! Just think of the power and presence of Love being actively witnessed 100%!! With God such things are possible!!

A seeming disfigurement has been tempting me to keep my lips closed rather than burst into a full smile/grin. What a beautiful thought that a smile "celebrates the presence of God." Paraphrasing one of the hymns in the new hymnal, "How can I keep from smiling!" knowing that I'm celebrating and sharing the presence of God. Thank you for this healing message. I'm smiling fully knowing that nothing can mar the presence of God.????????

I am so grateful for your message and all of the comments above. I have listened over and over the past few days and find even more inspiration each time I listen. It is opening up my thought to ask the question "Is healing as easy as smiling?" I love the idea that we are letting go of our burdens and setting love free when we smile. Love is illumining and leading the way. Love is in control. We don't have to do it!
When I think of my two-year-old grandson, I have to smile, because he smiles all the time. He has an inner joy that just bursts out and you can't help but be filled up with the love and happiness he expresses.

Hi John...You know me through my son Matt and he smiles a lot. He has learned so much from your spiritual wisdom and I was so happy to hear you lecture a couple of years ago in Burlington, Ontario. My little grandson knew I was sad one day and he rushed and got a pencil. He said to me, "Mimi - put this sideways in your mouth holding it with your teeth and guess what...you will be smiling!".It was true, but I liked your message even more. Smiling is when you are happy and someone then said..."if you are happy, you need to tell your face about it". Thanks so much.

WE ALL HAVE PLENTY OF GOOD TO SMILE ABOUT!
"GOD...THE GREAT I AM. THE ALL KNOWING.. ALL SEEING... ALL ACTING"... ABOUT COVERS IT.
WHAT AN EFFECTIVE HEALING POWER AND TAP ON THE SHOULDER IT IS ...TO SIMPLY GIVE OURSELVES... PERMISSION TO SMILE.
EVERY TIME WE DO SHOW A SINCERE SMILE WE (CAN) ACKNOWLEDGE AND EXPRESS OUR LOVE AND GRATITUDE FOR GODS' COMPLETE CARE AND CONTROL OF OUR EXPERIENCE.
GOD IS TRUELY... "ALL ACTING" !!!
THANK YOU JOHN ...

After watching the BoD in Asia tonight, I ended up listening again to last Annual Meeting's closing hymn, led by the always-aglow Julia Wade. The featured singers around the globe encircled the UNIVERSE with their Siyahamba Smile! It brought tears of joy and a huge grin.
To top that off, I finally listened (5 days late!) to this "Smile" Lift and smiled my way through all 177 comments above. Wow, as #77 becky put it, "my cheeks hurt."
I even learned as new smile symbol from one of the posters: :>) -- cute!
Gonna go listen to this again, then forward it to a couple of friends who love learning about C.S. through the Daily Lift angel messenger.

- 11/12/2009That's nice and easy to do, thank you, for suggesting and stating the best motive for smiling, Mr Tyler. Thank you!

- 11/12/2009Thanks so much John!!

- 11/12/2009Thank you John!

- 11/12/2009Thanks John!! I always smile and always get it back. But I love your explanation of what a smile is - letting God shine, setting love free, make it visible and the best that Love is always there and a smile celebrates Its presence! :) :) :)

- 11/12/2009Thank you so very much for confirming what I have been doing for years. Just letting God shine through my smile. I had someone ask me one time, if I smiled all of the time. I answered, "I try to!" It is love being reflected as opposed to the nothingness of error that would try to absorb you. Thank you again, for reminding us of "letting your light so shine"!

- 11/12/2009WOW! John, thank you for that powerful lift! Moved to tears of gratitude. I love the way you interpreted MBE's "love inspires, illumines, designates and leads the way" as we are not responsible - LOVE is! Thank you. It is so comforting to know there are so many of us out there being blessed and blessing others as a result of these daily lifts.

- 11/12/2009This reminds me of a dear retired lady who visited our association one year. I'll never forget her saying that she gets up in the morning and walks around Boston smiling at everyone she meets. What joy she must bring to others! And what joy she must be expressing herself. Thank you for the reminder to smile.

- 11/12/2009John, that was WONDERFUL! and you smile a lot and what a concept to have of the smile. "Letting go", freeing love's expression, ---thank you so very much.
I do love to be in the grocery store and smile at anyone - especially those looking a bit down. Usually I get a response - even if it is a little smile. I am always grateful.
Thank you, thank you,

- 11/12/2009Thank you, John.

- 11/12/2009Thank you, John. I love to smile - it's like a prayer, as Mary Baker Eddy says in her hymn, Christ My Refuge, "My prayer, some daily good to do, to Thine, for Thee; An offering pur of Love, whereto God leadeth me."

- 11/12/2009Thank you, Hans. So nice to hear your voice this morning with such a simple, uplifting message. From your sister --(with a brighter day because of you.)

- 11/12/2009It did feel healing to smile----and it did shift thought from me-first concerns about the day, problems to tackle, issues I thought I had to resolve. Then to link it to God illuminating, inspiring, designating and leading the way, and all we have to do is follow shows us why there is a reason to smile throughout the day. It does set us free. Our smiling throughout the day can be a reminder that Love is in control, so we don't have to try to be. Thanks!
Peggy A.
- 11/12/2009I love to smile and always have a lot.. it was just natural for me....I had not thought of it in that way.. as letting God shine through.. thanks so much for this wonderful insight...and that is my responsibility to let Divine Love' s presence shine through, and I do so love the smiles in return!

- 11/12/2009What an outpouring of joyous, healing Love! I have always made it a personal practice to smile, BIG, especially when I don't feel like it--not in any fake way, but as an insistence on joy. YOur Lift today has helped me identify the healing power behind those smiles. Thank you so much--everytime I smile now, I'll be knowing that it is God shining through me.

- 11/12/2009"SMILE". What a wonderful message to wake up to. You know John, I've been accused of smiling too much for the longest time in my life, but I can't help that I am God's daughter who loves to express His perfect idea and qualities. And it doesn't cost us not one penny!. The beauty of it is, letting our light shine and sharing it with others through our smiles. That's a great feeling, and truly it makes my heart sing!!. Have a great smiles day!!!!

- 11/12/2009HI Mr. Tyler,
I loved hearing this lift today.
Patty
- 11/12/2009Joy. Love, Happiness, are contagious when we smile. I loved the songs #12 and #31 especially. I write down thoughts that resonate with me each day that I listen to the Daily Lift. It's kind of like journaling. I wrote down those 2 songs and hope to memorize them soon. Thanks.

- 11/12/2009Smiling to set God's love free! What a great way to express God! I can't help but feel God's love when I smile. And others can't help but feel God's love when I smile at them! Blessings all around! Thanks so much for today's lift.

- 11/12/2009I've always thought it is very important to smile. Now I have completely new and wonderful reasons to smile. What super thoughts and suggestions you shared! How freeing it is to know that there is no responsibility on our shoulders! The light of divine Love and its presence within and everywhere is certainly something to celebrate with a smile. Thank you! Thank you!
Dave Christensen
- 11/12/2009You made me happy, John.
Phyllis
- 11/12/2009Thank you John. I am smiling and yes, I am letting go and setting Love free and celebrating!

- 11/12/2009Your message reminded me of another benefit of smiling and that is that most of the folks who see my smile often smile back. I love that reflection of love, and it reminds me that I have been smiling without even realizing it.

- 11/12/2009I have always loved C.

- 11/12/2009Such a simple, wonderful concept! I've often thought that the absolutely simplest way to take ten years off your looks in a matter of a split second was to simply SMILE! Talk about a face-lift! Give yourself a smile in the mirror tomorrow morning and see how you instantly look and "feel" years younger!! Thank you so much for these daily lifts!

- 11/12/2009What an enlighting definition of Smile! Much better than Webster's! Recognizing the power and purpose behind our smiles is so important. Thank you for this new and inspried meaning. I will hold it in thought as I smile to others, knowing that the real purpose will be received by those that I see, enriching both of our experiences. Thanks so very much.

- 11/12/2009Many thanks!
This reminded me of a song we sang at camp.
"Smile don't you know God loves you
Come to think of it, I love you too
If you take the time to smile
Then before you're through
Someone will be smiling back at you."

- 11/12/2009It is late in the afternoon in Virginia...and for a couple of reasons I did not feel like smiling when I opened the computer..

- 11/12/2009A smile celebrates Love’s presence-
to celebrate is to praise, show respect...to rejoice...
I can't think of a better way to share than with a heart-felt, Love filllled smile!
Pure joy!!

- 11/12/2009John, as a new student of Christian Science, I attended my first Christian Science lecture which you gave in the church I attended.

- 11/12/2009I just came home from a busy, hectic day at work and i couldn't wait to read the daily lift. (I missed it before work.) I really needed a spiritual lift and boy did I get it! I smiled, then I laughed, because I realized I had been giving power to error. All better now!! Thanks for the "smile" and the lift!

- 11/12/2009Thanks for this happy reminder.

- 11/13/2009How wonderful!

- 11/13/2009What a beautiful daily lift.

- 11/13/2009I'm laughing as I just checked the number of comments being made on the various posts.. and the 155 comments to yours is the highest number of recent posts..
Thank you!

- 11/13/2009... that seems to be the proof: a simple smile, and a rich rain of responses to that smile all across the world. And what inspiration I've received from your messages!
Let's keep it up: the smile and what's behind it are obviously powerful, and contagious.
Heartfelt thanks to you all.

- 11/13/2009I have been enjoying all the Daily Lifts for about a month now, but this one moved me to tears. I had just been talking to a CS friend about how hard it is sometimes to just love. - 11/14/2009Thanks, John!

- 11/14/2009A seeming disfigurement has been tempting me to keep my lips closed rather than burst into a full smile/grin.

- 11/14/2009I am so grateful for your message and all of the comments above.

- 11/14/2009Hi John...You know me through my son Matt and he smiles a lot.

- 11/19/2009After watching the BoD in Asia tonight, I ended up listening again to last Annual Meeting's closing hymn, led by the always-aglow Julia Wade.
