9/6: What can we do about injustice?

9/6: What can we do about injustice?

  1. I will join you, Leide :-) Thank you for your lift and your beautiful smile on the picture. It so much shows your love for God and joy for Life.

  2. Thanks for this powerfull and honest lift. I'm not only joining you but i'm also sending this message of peace to all my friends. God bless you and yours as well as all the team of Christian Science.

  3. Elisabeth Groß, Germany, Munich
Dear Leide Lessa, thank you very much for the wonderful Lift.
MBE said: "Thoughts are things." "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into experience propportionably to their occupanci of your thoughts." Page: 260:33
That is the best protection for me and injustice can't contact or touch me. GOD is good and I'm His reflection. So I'm also good as GOD is. So I can neither do injustice nor can do this another person. GOD is All in all. He is omnipotence. So can be not there another might. Injustice has now power.
    Elisabeth Groß, CS

  4. I will join you, too. With great yoy and looking forward to peace in all of us.

  5. Mary Baker Eddy says that the law of Life and Truth, the law of Christ, forgives the false sense by pursuing it and punishing it (sin) until it is destroyed and nothing remains to suffer or to be punished.
Principle, Mrs. Eddy says, when used to signify Deity seems distant and cold until better apprehended, God becomes to us All-in-all which is and always has been He, or She, if you will. Mrs. Eddy says that as divine Principle is comprehended, God's All-in-all-ness will dawn on mortals, and the notion of man as a creator/taker of life will disappear to our enlightened consciousness. (No and Yes, pages 30&20.) My earlier-life experience overseas, or across domestic borders for school or adventure or to visit family was a sheltered one in which I was always protected. Jonah did not want to save Nineveh, because he feared that Nineveh ,the foe, would destroy Israel if saved by God. But God saves all without respect to nationality when they turn to Him. This is why we can pray unselfishly for the world. I am grateful that the same Christ which heals sickness destroys sin and this Christ is divine Love. I love to read and study my King James Bible because I love poetic expression, which is to me, song, hidden from the visible world but known, understood, in the secret place of the most High. (Psalms 91.)
Thank you for this lift and the Sentinel article in September 10, 2012 issue.

  6. “Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?” Mal 2:10
“This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise” Is. 43:21
When will humanity understand that God created ALL of us for Himself, our purpose is union, not division.
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Phil. 4:7

  7. Thank you, Leide, I am knowing that peace follows justice, and these the honest heart upholds with Divine Love's support.

  8. Thank you.

  9. Right with you! Very healing, freeing Lift!! Thank you!!

  10. Yes, let's stand in for genuine peace, which is present in God's realm.

  11. Yes, I'm delighted to add my thought to the cause of peace.

In hymn 263 we find the words, "Only God can bring us gladness, Only God can give us peace; Joys are vain that end in sadness, Joy divine shall never cease." Endless harmony of all God's ideas is assured as we turn to Him for our joy and comfort in the sanctuary of divine Mind.

Thank you for your bright clarity on this important subject!

  12. Thank you for your prayers for peace and spreading the good news for the day world wide.

  13. Many thanks Leide for inviting us together in prayer. Yes. "We all have to know that [Love] the God of peace [keeps us all] innocent [blameless, harmless], protected and safe." "There no tumult can alarm thee,/ Thou shalt dread no hidden snare;/ Guile nor violence shall harm thee/ In eternal safeguard there." (Christian Science Hymnal #33).

  14. Tha.nk you. Yes it is true that God can only give us peace

  15. Thank you for this inspiring uplift today!

  16. Lovely healing Lift! Am praying for God's peace to be established in me and in all. Thank you, Leide, and all peacemakers!

  17. Thanks for the ideas for praying for the world. I received an email request called the One Minute Prayer to pray at 6 PM for the world for just one minute, trusting that the prayers of many at the same time would be effective. I have included in my prayer the 4th verse of hymn 141: "Cleansing men of fear and hate, Lifting hope above the sod, Truth will summon, soon or late, All the earth to worship God." And the Daily Prayer as given in the Manual p. 41 "...and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!" And many other hymns, quotes from the Bible and Science and Health - whatever comes as fresh inspiration each night. Our collective prayers for the world can only help to bring peace to everyone. All you Lifters are invited to join in.

  18. What a great lift, thank you!

  19. Thank you for this wonderful lift!

  20. "... and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind and govern them!". It ends in an exclamation point! Man 41:25 I never saw that before. And, with a little more research... it appears to be the only exclamation point in the Manual!!!!

  21. Oh! I want to be a part of that!! I am in Virginia so I should Pray at 9:00 Pm? Sounds wonderful! I'm all
In! God blesses all and no one is excluded!

  22. Thank you, Leide! Your prayers and the prayers of the Daily Lifters will be a great help to a family member and me today as we demonstrate how justice brings peace to our own cities and to the world.

  23. Thank you, Leide! Here in the U.S.A. we are deep in the thros of a Presidential Election - having Party Conventions and then Debates. We can all pray to know that all men and women express Love and Honesty in the political arena and that these qualities will bring a sense of Peace to the Election proceedings. Only One Power, the God of Peace, is present! "Let there be Peace on Earth and Let it beging with me!"

  24. Thank you, Leide for this important invitation to pray together for peace. Thank you lifters for your supportive & inspiring responses. I especially am grateful to know about the One Minute Prayer at 6PM that #17 Lori in CA shared. I love the structure of joining others committed to praying for the world everyday at 6 PM.

  25. Wow, great lift, imagine what enlightenment, peace and harmony can be revealed!

  26. One of my school associates, before passing, told me about belonging to a group that all prays together at an exact agreed upon- a-time. I had never heard of this before. It is individual decision. A request for help is each one's right to accept or reject. I love to think in terms of praying without ceasing, which is easy. It simply means always doing the right thing, which every one can do. We would never dream of stealing, for instance. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Two horses and one driver can pull more than one horse alone, and the Amish demonstrate an amazing long line of horses wheeling in lock-stop. We can only ride one individual horse at a time and we always get what we pray for. All we have to do is put our desires into practice. Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy kingdom come." (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, pages 15 and 16.) We always get what we pray for.

  27. Thank you.

  28. Thank you Leide! #17 you showed how -- the one-minute prayer! And I will join in this much needed prayer circle -- embracing all of humanity! All!

  29. Thanks so much, Leide - for your own inspired message, and for spurring others to fresh thoughts on this topic that is calling to us for help. I love the reminder from Robert (#5) that "Jonah did not want to save Nineveh, because he feared that Nineveh, the foe, would destroy Israel if saved by God. But God saves all..." I had to ask myself if there are any people, groups, nations, that I resist praying for, because I don't want THEM to be helped in their endeavors! But "God saves all" - which means that if there are any wrong or harmful endeavors or intentions, these will be neutralized - destroyed, and found to be powerless, nobody, nothing. What is ultimately left is the earth "filled with the glory of God, as the waters cover the sea!" (Hymn 82) Love to you, Leide, from an old friend from Bible Study days!

  30. Yes! Thanks very much for the invitation

  31. Yes! Count me in. I will join you. World peace can be a constant prayer and it can begin with me.
"Yea, our God is merciful." (Psalms 116). We can be like him - merciful, gracious, forgiving, consistent.
We can increase our trust and "faith in God's disposal of events". (Miscellany pg. 281)

  32. As I have quoted in numerous Appellate Briefs, Mrs. Eddy also said: "Justice is the moral signification of law." We might note that when she writes of the case of mortal man being on trial for liver complaint, the Counsel, Christian Science, does not appeal to a "higher" court of material error but instead goes to the Court with real jurisdiction- the Court of Spirit. I see injustice at high levels in my environmental cases and it is a challenge spiritually to unsee the error! One person can make a difference but it takes all of us to make all the difference. Just as we cannot have peace without freedom, we cannot save our environment from harm without loving God's creation and putting it above material gains in our personal choices and our prayer.

  33. How can I -- or anyone -- do other than accept the call of the world for peace? I accept! Thank you.

  34. Thank you for your thoughts. I will affirm that Man lives right now in the realm of Spirit that is calm. The troubled false unpeaceful picture can be removed by the Christ presence just like Mary Baker Eddy felt for so many people.

  35. What a wonderful lift, thank you Leide! It's especially wonderful because one of the first thoughts I had this morning when I woke up was "unfairness is not part of God's kingdom." Certainly injustice, too! I am glad our prayers are already joined in this truth.

  36. YES! I will join you in prayer right now. I acknowledge the one God, the Great omnipotent I AM, divine Principle-Love, all-good, righteously(justly, morally) and perfectly governing, maintaining and sustaining His entire universe as its only Cause, Creator and King. Universal Principle intelligently rules its kingdom in perfect peace, order, balance, and abundance, so there's no room for tyranny, domination, oppression, disorder, greed or lack of any sort. Anything contrary to the supremacy of God's laws is denounced and must fall away because it has no divine authority for existing, no basis of operation, no existence, no Creator, no power, no place, no operatives.

We insist upon seeing evidence of Principle manifesting itself everywhere now, all things working together for good, because man's true, Christly nature as God's image and likeness can only be what God caused it to be, all-good, loving, caring, divine law-abiding, abundantly rich in all needed to be good and do good, generous, unselfish, fulfilling God's holy purpose for it and loving every step of the way. We are awake to these facts & thank You, Father-Mother God for them, knowing that as we pray, others wake up to their innate Christliness and infinite capacity for good alone - from the bad dream to the reality and royalty of their being as the Sons of God. "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord"..the earth is filled with the glory of God (the Christ in me, you and all) as the waters cover the sea.

  37. I enjoy thinking of peace as the connection of inner mental peace, peaceful/just interactions and behaviors, peaceful/fair families/groups/communities, peace-oriented businesses, peaceful nations/international relations, global economic justice, peaceful stewardship and cherishing of our environment. Each situation involves empathizing with our universal human needs which are spiritual qualities demanding expression. Those needs? Love, connection, safety, meaningful contribution, clarity and shared reality/understanding, hope/inspiration, growth/development of talents, play, equality/justice, purpose, community, effectiveness, nurture/nourishment, etc. These can have many different strategies for meeting the needs (expressing our inner character/purpose). After we see the please and thank you behind each action to meet those needs, then what? Respectfully and compassionately collaborating to meet those needs, and the gratitude/security of meeting those needs for ourselves and others. After 40+ years successfully working in warzones, prisons, strikes, Marshall Rosenberg says that within 20 minutes of really hearing/empathizing with the others' needs, genocide/retaliation is ended, wars are stopped, labor/management strife resolved, conflicts turned into answers, etc. because the practical, specific win-win solutions are clear when Love opens the mind/heart, and each individual/group/nation can then feel the motive and power to follow through with integrity. S&H 340.

  38. I was awakened in the night with this insight: replace the cross mind with the Mind on the Cross. Be better, not bitter. The Way to/through/from the Cross is Divine Love, humility, forgiveness, patient faith in God, gratitude before material evidence, mental discipline to always glorify GOD, obedience to God as our only Mind, responding only to God's will. S&H 497:24.

This way, so-called "justice" is not about retaliating by causing more resentful victims and self-justifying, self-deceiving anger or abuse of material "power". There are no losers, no losing of patience or faith, no losing tempers, no one losing anything good. Only winners in Christ.

  39. Thank you.I join you and #17 in prayer for peace.

  40. Thank you, Leide, and I'm with you! World peace, justice, freedom is essential, and no one fully has it if all do not, for we are a victim of still believing in injustice.. This Lift also inspired me on another form of injustice. A recent article presented Christian Science incorrectly, and I've heard others than myself submitted corrections, but it seems these were not accepted, nor has a correction been forthcoming. Innocence is one quality this Lift mentions. Learning wrong information as if it were true fact is a form of mistreatment. God, Principle is in control, not a publisher, nor a prestigious writer. Anyone involved loves Truth, Principle, Love, too. I'd been praying, and prayerfully supporting action taken by others concerned. This Lift helps me see how to handle this. Thank you for reminding me Mrs. Eddy said devotion of thought would make an honest achievement possible. I also thank #3 Elizabeth for her healing quote. I'm hopeful & expectant of a proper resolution. #17, Lori, I'll add my prayer, too, but it's important to remember that one with God is a majority. One pure, understanding prayer is all that is needed. Healing of the world isn't a need, in reality, but in joint prayer more can be receptive to see this, and it demonstrates taking a stand for good. #20 Nancy, Thanks!

  41. I will join you also! Thank you for this lift.

  42. Thanks, Leide, for “What can we do about injustice? …I like to start with prayer …our prayers can contribute to a change …world peace is an honest achievement …contribute to its realization…” When I read the title of this Lift about “injustice,” I didn’t make the immediate connection to “world peace.” After listening to the Lift, I vaguely remembered something else I had heard a while ago, linking injustice with world peace …after a quick online search, I found it. “‘Without justice, there can be no peace.’ - Martin Luther King, Jr.” Dr. King’s words and your Lift come together today for me, as I decide to bring my contributions for justice and peace into the focus of every day. Justice is being fair, keeping the “playing field level.” Justice builds the trust that leads to a peace of mind that can bring peace to the entire world – not through world leaders and policies and procedures, as much as through the everyday “good will to all” that is Divine Principle lived by each of us. In Science and Health, Principle is offered as a synonym of God, in whose image and likeness each one of us, God’s child, is created. What can I do? I can be increasingly alert and even devoted to being fair, which is the way of the Golden Rule, really. In this way, I can contribute ever-increasingly and more consistently, to the honest achievement of realizing world peace through justice, guided by God through prayer. Thanks again, Leide.

  43. Thank you Tia Leide. I am joining you, for sure. ;-)

  44. Yes, that is a wonderful prayer for all mankind. Thank you

  45. yay! 6,000 "lifters" subscribing now! Thanks so much for these daily reminders of God's Love.

  46. Good to know what to reject as "no part of us!"

  47. Thanks for this choice of topic today! Friday lunchtime in the Olympic Reading Room, set up close to the Olympic Park in London we have an open Forum on World Peace. With so many nations coming together for the Paralympics this is a wonderful opportunity to pray about peace in the world, and your lift has got us off to a flying start!

  48. Yes. I will join you. Lifters might also want to visit
www.allmep.org for websites of over 50 groups of peacemakers in Israel (Jerusalem Peacemakers who facilitate the Abrahamic Reunion, a group od Jewish Christian, Muslim and Druze religious leaders and women peacemakers working together to reclaim religion as a source for peace, Seeds of Change in Maine that brings Israeli and Palestinian youth together, Pakistani and Indian youth together, Bosnian and Croatian youth together at Peace Camp, a group of 250 Israeli parents and 250 Palestinian parents for peace who have lost children in the wars, "Let our loss be the last." --- most touching and powerful, sports teams with Muslims and Israelis on the same teams, multi-cultural music venus, etc. Contributions of prayer and financial support are appreciated/encouraged as that is how these not-for-profit groups survive and thrive. Happy are the peacemakers!

  49. At the least and at the most, peace

  50. Yes, I will happily join you! Thanks for the lift today.
