“I have no time to pray, I have to find my car keys” I said while my husband waited by the car to get our gear for the trip loaded.
My mom said firmly: Stop! Admit it, you can’t do anything without God! And she too went outside to wait by the car. I needed to be honest with myself, stop searching and put the matter in God’s hand.
Then as I sat down I said humbly, “Father, you know what we need”, and as I sat down I saw my keys waiting for me on the same chair.
ESPAÑOL
“No tengo tiempo para orar, tengo que hallar las llaves del auto” dije mientras mi esposo esperaba al lado del auto para cargar las maletas.
Mi mama me dijo firmemente: ¡Alto!

Yes, I need God's help. And I am receiving God's help. Expecting fruitage in all areas of my Life, one in particular, at this time. "Goodness and mercy" are not merely following me, but "are pursuing me all the days of my life," to quote the Hebrew text of the 23rd Psalm. Am pausing, allowing goodness and mercy's fast embrace. Knowing the Truth, moving hearts and minds. . . Having God's vote, I am one with the Majority. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

I had the opportunity, a request this past week, to think about the youngest. So it came to me along these same lines of thought, that tiny children need to be helped to put their boots on and with riding their first bikes. It goes on from there, as they grasp spiritual ideas. No key is needed for a barrel horse ride, but we do have a Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and we use it for every helpful skill.
How many times did Mary wash her infant Jesus' little feet, before he came to wash his disciples' feet?
We all need help getting started, so that we can learn to do for ourselves what God has already done.
As followers, are we all walking and sometimes running in the spiritual footsteps of our Master.

Sometimes things seem to demand struggling to achieve a goal. When I look back, however, I cannot count how many times God has caused me to "sit down" and see "my keys waiting for me on the same chair." as Elena (2 above) says. "Trust in the lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding." How simple the solution is. Thanks, Evan. How clearly and simply you have explained this for me!

My son was preparing to go into University this morning to give the presentation which is the final step in his Masters degree. With his father waiting, car keys in hand, my son could only find one shoe. His room seemed to be in absolute chaos and I could feel the strong temptation to despair and criticize him for it, but realised that God was loving both of us and that my son had everything he needed right now. I declared my son's innocence and told him to turn right away from the picture of loss and despair and to demonstrate the presence of God by calmly and peacefully expressing order by beginning to tidy up his room. My son did not even move physically but suddenly realised that the other shoe was right in front of him on a shelf under a piece of paintball kit. Turning to God had brought instant freedom and joy. Thank you, Evan, for this lovely lift.

Thanks Evan. I struggled with this very verse last Saturday, at a football game. We got cheap seats without a back on them. I didnt want to bring seats that could give me a back. Because, I felt the game would not be sold out and I could sit elsewhere.
I was right there were empty seats. First, I started with handicap seats and the ushers said that was "okay" for the time being. Then, they said we had to move and I went for empty ones until the people whose seat they were, needed them.
I moved a third time to empty seats. But now, feeling guilty. I am thinking," am I honest?" I bought the ticket saying, I would be sitting up there and I am trying to sit else where. This all start, because Friday, I had listen to the Christian Science audio chat about gambling by John Minnard CSB and there was a comment from someone, that chances of risk are everywhere, from driving without a seatbelt, etc. I never thought about it, in that way.
Honesty is spiritual power and I struggled. God didnt make it easy for me. And I am still not at peace. And there is another football game this Saturday and the temptation is great. I am glad you are making me think of this again. Because the issue was that I felt I didnt need spiritual power at a football game as it was a football game, pure pleasure. But I should have realized there isnt a moment that I dont need spiritual power.

You really nailed it today Evan...('scuse the pun) Honesty is the Heart of everything! I love to read the coments, resulting from the lifts...Sometimes there are way too manyand I don't see them all, if I leave it too late in the day. There are always special letters that get me thinking. Today I read and re-read no. 14. I get the feeling you put so much love and feeling into that letter. This is the heart of the Lifts...we can speak our truth. Being a Kiwi, we are reknown for our self- effacidness, and it goes without saying that I confess quite frequently to not knowing what I'm doing, and ask "Help me please.!" I feel no shame; because I know it makes people feel good when they help someone. We are brothers and sisters, after all.

A valuable Lift Evan. Thank you! In the early 1930's one summer evening as darkness had fallen our mother remarked to the family that the diamond to her engagement ring was missing. The five of us had just returned home from an errand we had run. Each of us turned our thoughts Spiritward as we best knew. Father had seen a sparkle in the grass below to retrieve the diamond like object, knowing that such a true idea could never be lost. Some seventy years later while visiting the Toledo, OH zoo one night before Christmas my wife's sister remarked an earring had unknown to her dropped from her ear after leaving home. My brother-in-law and I returned in the rain to the parking lot across the street in search of the jewelry. In our individual ways, he and I had turned in prayer for divine help. Upon recrossing the street (returning to the zoo) I saw a glimmer in a puddle of water on the street and picked up the earring. No matter the idea, large or small, costly or not, an expression of one of God's ideas can never be lost from Spiritual consciousness. This is a true fact; honestly!

This is another winner from you, Evan, and thank you very much for the simple and very of-the-moment help, Many times I pray for a lost whatever, and find I'm looking right at it. I tell friends, "It was hanging off my eyes." Recently I 'lost' the keys to the church. Most importantly the key to the tiny little padlock downstairs: the key to the executive loo. I asked, phoned and emailed, but no one had them, or could help. But Beth Packer, in her lecture at our Summit, told of how her husband had lost his most prized possession, a gold Parker pen he had in his shirt pocket when he was kite flying at the beach. Beth explained the steps of her prayer and on looking down, saw the pen on the ground where they hadn't been walking. I held to this recovery of a lost article all Monday, and in the morning when I searched my handbag once again, the keys were there! Christian Science demonstrates God's Law of Love, and not only lost articles are recovered and redeemed, but so are relationships feared to be lost, and seemingly lost opportunities in life.
Thanks Nate and the team; the BoL and lecturers; and the Lift family of "honest seekers for Truth."

Aren’t we funny? We love to have a “go” at fixing things. I am reminded of a company which started up because people, who watched the home improvement shows, while inspired, often failed miserably. This company advertises as specialists in completing projects for you. Sweet.
Ever try to explain a problem to a real expert? They seem politely unconvinced in the magnitude of the problem as you see it. They won’t be convinced and you can feel sort of alone with it. Hmmm.
Jesus was compassionate but apparently unconvinced about problems. So many people, who were honestly humble, turned things over to him and most importantly, he to God!
What a great reminder for us to accept the help of an ever present Expert. Thanks a million, Evan!

Just a few days ago, my nurse aide, who has been taking care of me, misplaced her most valuable piece of jewelary, and panicked. I, as most times do because of what I had learned in studying C/S, prayed to know that in God's kingdom, nothing can be hidden that can't be revealed. The next morning, she woke me up with a happy yell; "I found it!," I can't count how many times she misplaced things, and I, with that simple thought, to myself, have helped her find things. One important thing you have to keep in mind, is that God is the one that reveals.

Oh Evan, that's just Beautiful and so humbling! As Human Beings, we are so priviliged to have God's promise that She is always with us! I think, perhaps, our biggest challenge, as we walk through this Journey of Learning, called Life, is to humbly and sweetly Surrender our wills and our lives over to God's Loving Care. Learning to drop the Human Will, to Let Go and Let God, and to trust that God really does have our best interest at Heart, even if we want what we want when we want it - is something I have been learning over and over this summer. Frankly, I have sometimes been shocked at how much my will is screaming inside and how hard it has been to Surrender and Trust and to Ask God for Help! I often hear myself, like a 2-year old, saying over and over, "I can do this by myself!" I was just recently rescued from making a Huge Mistake, when I listened to the very still, small voice and at the last possible moment, surrendered and was saved! Thank you, God, I am so Grateful for all the Learning Lessons and for your constant, tender Love and Forgiveness of all my foolish ways! Happy United States Labor Day and Love to All!

When I finished my degree at an older age, I truly did not know what to do next. I felt frightened and hollow, completely without a plan. I prayed with my whole heart, because I knew that God would somehow be able to fill the "seeming vacuum." Very quickly, I did receive a clear answer about two things to pursue next, and one of the two things was Christian Science. Neither answer seemed to provide any immediate monetary income, but I was exceedingly grateful to have an answer that I knew was from God. I also had the idea to use colorful pens and large paper to draw a "road map" about how to go forward. This was helpful, because it gave me a sense of planning in multiple dimensions. Quickly, I understood that I would be living in a very simple place for a while, which I named my "Hutka" after a friend's retreat cabin. I thought of it as the shelter at the beginning of a ski lift, with my two pursuits like two strong cables pulling me up on a Poma lift--all I had to do was relax and balance on my skis and be pulled up (by God's power). And indeed, my two pursuits have been fulfilling, and have led to stable employment that is also fulfilling. God fills my days with right endeavors! I try to listen with my whole heart every morning. So grateful for these Lifts, for Evan, and for the tenderness and honesty expressed by all Lifters!

What a great lift! Thanks, Evan. It's imperative to healing to be honest with oneself, especially if one is not getting anywhere with their own work or their application/practice of Christian Science. We need to 'fess up [confess or admit you need help - the poor in spirit know their need of God!] and ask God for direction, whether it means going to your computer specialist, calling a CS practitioner, CS nurse or CS teacher for help! After all this is the Science of the Christ, and as we align our hearts with it, it will heal us. It has too. It's God's Science. 2+2=4 - as simple as that.

Thank you Evan. I 'll work with what you brought out, for I've long asked for help in several situations and have not found solutions. Time & space seem formidable enemies. Perhaps this Lift will reveal what I yet need to work on, instead of the situations themselves. I know in any part of life, honesty is essential. To be less than honest is to play make-believe, including that God is not over all. Anyone victim to dishonesty from another individual has been treated as a fool, and the dishonest one will reap the dreadful condemnation Christ Jesus warned would result from their "outside of Truth" dreamworld, a nightmare (Matt.5:22). Perhaps we treat ourselves as fools more than we recognize. I like the Lift brings out the importance of honesty in simple situations that don't involve deliberate lies. These hidden catches that error would trick us to be part of, are important to purify every part of our consciousness of Truth, Mind, Love, all synonyms of God. This form of dishonesty could be likened to tiny cobwebs left unnoticed as we diligently scrub a home of all other dust and clutter, even mentally purifying anyone who enters this house of consciousness. This Lift is going back over with a fine-toothed comb of Truth. Asking for lost items, I learned a simple rule. The solution isn't complicated. When a daughter searched high & low for her yarn needle, as in the proverbial "haystack". Angels said, "it's in a simple place.". It was! A nice collection of comments above!

This is another example of finding a lost item which was given at a Wed. evening testimony meeting. A lady told of helping her son go around on a very rainy, stormy night and collect from people on his paper route. As they started home, her son realized that he had lost a large sum of money that he had just collected. Her son was devastated. The mother was adamant that God controlled every instant of their lives. As they retraced his steps through the heavy rain and wind, the money was found. This young man was in my teenage Sunday School class and he always asked thought provoking questions demonstrating a deep desire to learn. Years later when I saw him in the grocery store, I asked him if he remembered his Sunday School classes. He said, "I think going to the Christian Science Sunday School was one of the most important events in my entire life. When I have children, I want them to attend the Sunday School too."

- 9/3/2012Many times when searching in vain for keys/glasses/whatever, my husband would say "Have you asked Mind? (Meaning diving Mind/God.)When I did, I found them pretty quickly. Now, I mostly ask God first, and find things. Thank you Evan. Never thought of that in connection with "Honesty is spiritiual power".

- 9/3/2012So many thanks! Yes, indeed, honesty is spiritual power, and the realization that we do need and always have God's loving help and guidance serves to uplift our daily outlook as we start our day's activities.

- 9/3/2012My son was preparing to go into University this morning to give the presentation which is the final step in his Masters degree.

- 9/3/2012Thanks Evan.

- 9/3/2012Many thanks Evan for sharing this great truth for all the little things in life. But look what happened to Christ Jesus for being honest about the big things in life!" - 9/3/2012You really nailed it today Evan...('scuse the pun) Honesty is the Heart of everything!

- 9/3/2012A valuable Lift Evan.

- 9/3/2012This is another winner from you, Evan, and thank you very much for the simple and very of-the-moment help, Many times I pray for a lost whatever, and find I'm looking right at it.

- 9/3/2012Aren’t we funny?

- 9/3/2012Just a few days ago, my nurse aide, who has been taking care of me, misplaced her most valuable piece of jewelary, and panicked.

- 9/3/2012Oh Evan, that's just Beautiful and so humbling!

- 9/3/2012Thanks, Evan. This is parallel to my prayers to see that I am not bound by a feeling that I can do it myself -- a false egotistic kind of independence. Seeing the resolution as a form of honestly is very helpful!

- 9/3/2012I agree with comment #26. Thank you Evan for this message, short, sweet and right to the point. As the author wrote, "above all, to thyself be true" and another wrote, God is Alfa and Omega, the first and the last. Yes, honesty is indeed spiritual power.

- 9/3/2012When I finished my degree at an older age, I truly did not know what to do next.

- 9/3/2012What a great lift!

- 9/3/2012Thank you Evan.

- 9/3/2012Thank you for your inspiration and message. It is through our Daily Lift that a long-time friend and I found each other. I honestly had been searching for her over the several decades, and found that she, also, had been searching for me. - 9/3/2012This is another example of finding a lost item which was given at a Wed. evening testimony meeting.

- 9/4/2012"I'm going to fix this, so help me God!" If we haven't said this, we've probably heard it.

- 9/4/2012Interesting how we can put a label on something and hide the truth. I might have felt more like, I should know this, or I can learn this or I need to sit down and take more time to figure things out from now on. But the simple answer just, HONESTY makes more sense and solves the problem better. Thank you, Evan
