Thank you for this Daily Lift. I hadn't thought of God doing the demonstrating (I thought I had to do this!) It is the confidence in acknowledging and accepting that God, good, is the on;y power and presence, the All-in all that can possible demonstrate anything. Christine, I think this Lift needs to be printed and illustrated in a little book for the Sunday School kids. Of course we wouldn't stop big kids from buying and reading it, with the pretence they were buying it for their children. This Lift has it all, doesn't it! The Science of the Divine has always been and always will be present. The greater understanding of this has enabled me to redeem several past negative experiences by knowing that right when and where they seemed to be going on, there was our omnipresent God, being and knowing His own omnipotence and omniscience, thus immediately disolving the apparent disturbing event. A recent lift encouraged us to not take yesterday's regrets into today. Recognizing our true relationship to our all-loving and all-powerful God enables each of us to do this consistently.

Yes, what a crash course in Christian Science. I love that idea. Such a wonderful perspective Christine! I also love #2's quoting Mrs. Eddy about Truth being as "Ancient as the ancient of days." God--Truth and Principle--always was, is, and ever will be--existed from the beginning and extends throughout eternity. God is Truth and the ever present power. We owe so much to Mrs. Eddy for expressing God's message in a way we can understand, helping us to grasp the Bible spiritually. Such a precious gift. Yes, as that marvelous marginal heading on page 146 reads, CS is as old as God. this doesn't mean that "our" religion is better than all others--CS is so very much more than just a denomination. Rather, the truths illumined in the teachings of CS are simply the truths about God--His nature made evident.

Thank you, Christine, for “A crash course in Christian Science … evil has no power because God/Good is all powerful … infinite Good is the only power and presence … always in control.” Here’s what comes to me: Moses was told by God to first throw down the rod, which turned into a serpent and then to pick up the serpent, which turned back into the rod - or, lesson learned, turned into “The Rod.” The rod is part of my every day experiences - something I’ve learned to lean on, taking for granted that it’ll always be there for me. The rod could represent my happiness, my health, my wholesomeness - any person, place, thing, or circumstance I’ve come to count on. The serpent appears when in some way or another, my rod is compromised or fails me - when sin, sickness, disease, or death threatens me, in any way. When I lose a person, place, or thing, or circumstance that has come to mean so much to me – to my matter-based reality. What then? I don’t need to be afraid or run away. Instead, God calls me, as Moses, to challenge the illusion of a rod or serpent – good or evil in matter and to claim the one and only ever-present God/Good – “The Rod” – Spirit-based reality. In the image and likeness of God/Good, the only “powers that be,” I have the power to claim the blessing in the midst of what appears to be a curse. My understanding of rod and serpent is expanded from a mere physical prop or threat to “God with us” and “signs following.” I need only to pick up and lean on “The Rod.” :-)

No other system on Earth can ever explain the reality of life as C/S can. No other system can help man solve the many annoyances as C/S can. It takes away the burdens that beset mankind. Just the simple understanding that God carves out our life experience and that experience must be good since God is good is really all the understanding we need. Make prayer simple, not some hard thing we have to do.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how our job is to bear witness to God's supremacy, #3 June and #12 Dennis R. Indeed, God's infinite power and presence are established fact, since in actuality we live in His creation. It's our job to hold consciousness to that fact, and actively affirm and reflect that light of understanding to the situation around us.

Thank you, Christine. This really meets a need this week. And thank you, Nela, #27, which helps me to see that a special person who appeared to have treated me very badly, really couldn't have and that I need to challenge that illusion. Many thanks to all who contribute and especially to Nate and the Crew for providing this wonderful way to start each day and to come back to during the day.

Wow! Just want to add to the chorus of gratitude! This is great! God's demonstrations. love #30 reading thru the Bible and seeing what God is demonstrating. I've heard too in physical science that there is a difference between a demonstration and an experiment. A demonstration is where you know the outcome, and an experiment is where you wait to see what happens... we'll see....

Thank you for this. What I love about Christian Science is the proof, the evidence and the signs following that come with it. From the first moment I began thinking spiritually, supported by my study of Christian Science, I got to experience God in a big way, and the signs just keep on coming!

Thanks to All!! Read the BL -Unreality- wrote out some thoughts and then-the Daily Lift was at the top of my email. So grateful for the One Mind's unity and universality of its teaching and lifting us. "Light emits light without effort" MBE. Acepting that "Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts conscienceness and leads into all truth." MBE. Just like the omnipresence of the law of mathematics. God doesn't 'know' about our efforts to undesrstand Him. He doesn't measure our worthiness to recieve. The Bible's explanation of His perfection is He maketh the rain to fall and the sun to shine on the just and the unjust. He is the everywhere present: power and knowledge of good. Can any thing material disturb the availability of 2+2=4? Can it be exploded by a bomb, attacked by illness, starved, or murdered? Can its ability to function be confined, put in a box and hid? It makes one giggle at the silliness of the images. The "unwinding our snarls and learning to divide between sense and Soul" MBE is seeing what is infinite and what appears to belong to a finite self. Standing for the fact that all we are is what God made and this is all He sees. This pure perfect creation has no possessions of its own that are seperate things or ideas. Jesus said I can of nine own self do nothing. Can this also mean I am nothing and possess no body, experience of my own? Or as another translation puts it " of mine own inititive". "unself mortality" MBE. Watch Truth's presence.

12 Dennis R - When things seem out of control like a screaming tornado, it helps me to: #1) Look at God and cling to God as infinite and supreme. #2) Take one step at a time in thought and action - think a simple thought over and over, take small but determined steps to express good. No lie of evil is ever bigger than God and we can calmly and patiently prove it. Don't give up.

One of my earliest lessons was to learn about the "Adam dream" as revealed in Christian Science.
So just as we overcome the fears of a nightmare, or illusion by waking up, we find peace and health by waking up to the presence of the Christ and the Father.
This is what Moses did when he took off his shoes and turned aside,
"The illusion of Moses lost its power to alarm him,
when he discovered that what he apparently saw was really
but a phase of mortal belief." (S&H pg. 321)

Great question, Dennis, (#12)! When Moses was overwhelmed at first by the picture of a dangerous serpent, and God told him to grab it by the tail, he was obedient and his obedience opened his eyes to the Truth--that evil was an illusion. Obedience to the First Great Commandment--Love/trust/obey God, Spirit with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and have no other gods or powers apart from Spirit--is the foundation of Christian Science and is what enables us to demonstrate, prove, realize and see the presence of health, peace and wholeness right before our eyes.

A number of years ago I was in the middle of what seemed like a storm of personalities fighting with each other and causing great suffering. In spite of my prayers, it seemed to continue. I knew how to pray but each time I saw and heard with my physical senses the "hell", I found myself reacting to it and believing it. Then suddenly one day I thought, "Since God, Spirit, is infinite divine Love embracing all creation and is the only Mind knowing only goodness and harmony eternally, then this picture is an illusion and I do not need to respond to it or pray it away. I simply need to lift my thoughts up to the Christ understanding of perfect God, perfect man, and rejoice in that truth. The next time it happened, that's what I did. And literally, the picture changed before my eyes, the yelling and anger stopped. I had to respond in the same way two more times; then the inharmony vanished and peace reigned.

Thanks for helping us "drop in" on the course, Christine. I see comments in online local news if a topic mentions religion. Many laugh at belief in the Bible, or that God exists. If only they knew healings my family has had! Many conditions would have gone away, more could have been treated medically (prayer healed faster), but enough stand apart from these, being considered incurable. I have seen a bigger example of the burning bush, more than once heard a voice. Healed were medically diagnosed grand mal epilepsy, 3rd degree burns ceased to be painful in less than an hour (closest med help was full hr. away) and physical evidence vanished rapidly, and so many more that space in comments above couldn't hold my testimonies. No condition was wanted, but are treasured blessings in memory. I got a crash course in CS in 3 days reading S&H along with a Bible I saw with fresh understanding. Our kids got a crash course in one Sunday School lesson and were healing right away. If I never experienced a demonstrated healing again, I could not doubt there is God, and the needs are healable. People who doubt, would have to realize cause & cure they believe so real, isn't so (even if religion weren't mentioned) if they heard Martha Moffett's lecture telling of body scars not there later, but appeared again when one diagnosed with multiple personality disorder changed personalities, even on the same day, proving matter isn't true. Spirit, God, not matter, rules. Thanks #27 Nela.

Thank you. I live all alone. I tried to listen on my home PC at 3.00am but the lift was not available, and I was happy enough to listen to Suzanne's of the previous day (nothing wrong with that). I went out about my business and at 8.00am, while on the road at a Diner, 38 miles away from my home apartment, I called on my cell phone (never while driving) and heard the Christine Podcast. I was grateful that it made it on the air. It is fun to listen to the Lift while in a public place, even though nobody but I can hear it.
I was once surrounded by a group of armed young men who could have done anything to me, and told me so. I spoke to only one, who appeared to be asking the questions, and only him, despite what the others were saying, and within a short time they made my way clear to go on my way without harming me. When we remain calm and know that only good has power, we win, because everyone wins. Even in the presence of our own fear. Even on Warren Street, in Roxbury, Massachusetts after dark, if that is where we find ourselves.

In Exodus 4, Moses lost his fear by accepting God’s control over him. I am learning to do the same thanks to Christian Science, to let God control my life.

Christian Science lets me think by myself, to find my own “aha” moment.
Is a freeing crash course.
No personal counselors to tell me how to think, nothing forbidden, and I can use my own sense of what’s right …
I even learned from the Bible the infinitude of one God and the falsity of whatever pretends to oppose Him/Her.

Thank you Chrisine, your explanation and the Moses story, serves to demonstrate more clearly an incident involving a poisoness snake that happened to me two weeks ago. I was walking along on a grassy slope, when suddenly something said Stop. I looked down and saw that I would have stood directly on top of a Green Mamba with my very next step. But my immediate thought was not fear, instead I thought to myself -That was the saving grace of God that prevented me from standing on the snake. As a result both the snake and I went on our way. I felt so in awe of that order that had told me to stop, that I thought about it all day and thanked God for protecting me.
