Thank you so much, Mark, for “Better than gold…’this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased’…not because of what he had accomplished…but because of who he was…as children of God, God clearly is pleased with us…bask in that wonderful blessing…He loves you…simply because of who you are…” Wow! To go through each day “basking in that wonderful blessing!” Makes me smile just thinking about it! Does something for my level of expectation of what this day and each day holds for me and all the other “baskers.” I want more than ever to “…attain the bliss of loving unselfishly, working patiently, and conquering all that is unlike God” (Science and Health, 262) And every time I consciously love God and love my neighbor, I’ll bask, knowing that God, Love itself! - is well-pleased. That’s why I can rejoice and be glad as my chosen lifestyle – the GOOD life!!! Thanks again, Mark, your Lift is better than gold for me this morning. :-)

Wonderful reminder, Mark, thank you.
Gold medals come and go--by the time the next Games roll around, who woll be able to remember the gold winners in these Games?. But who we are, as God's reflection, never can be altered, nor is our relation to Him conditioned by our being "the winner". Thank you for reminding us of that truth.

"And lo a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Matt. 3:17
God is pleased with us too, because of who we are!
Jesus saw us as God's legitimate children just like himself, he said; "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father..." Matt. 6:9
The Lord’s Prayer is the only prayer the Master taught and is better than an olympic gold medal!

Oh Wow, Mark! What a Boost this morning! It's making me cry, as I see so clearly how the "world" would try and tell us we are only valuable for what we achieve and that we have to prove our worth by what we do, how much money we make, how many "toys" we have, etc. A popular saying in 12-Step Groups is: "Your worth comes from your Higher Power." To get, really GET, that I am worthy because God created ME as His/Her precious child is just so amazing! I can see now why, in the Christian Tradition, we must be "born again" - we must come to the realization of Who We Really Are - in God's eyes! Why is it so hard sometimes to really GET How Much God Loves Us? Maybe it's because we have been so covered by the "mud" of material existence, having lived thru hard childhood experiences, having been hypnotized by false beliefs about ourselves, etc. that we seem to have lost sight of the true GOLD within us. And take the "L" out of "GOLD" and we get "GOD"!! Thank you so much, Mark, for sharing your GOLD with us! May everyone out there find their Gold or God within! I feel so Blessed!!!

This is a wonderful lift! In watching the Olympics, we admire and respect the dedication of each athlete, as they continually strive for perfection in their sport. So, we are dedicated and striving to lead the best, God filled life today, by knowing that our heavenly Father Mother cares, guides and guards us in all our activities. This is, indeed, far better than gold. Thank you, Mark, for inspiring us to achieve higher spiritual goals.
Joy H in Alberta, Canada
- 8/1/2012
This is great Mark. A great way to watch the Olympics. Awesome idea. God is already pleased with us, for who He has made us [not what we have accomplished] -- or failed to achieve.
It is what God has done -- made each of us as pure, 100% spiritual likeness of God,--already blessed, and with dominion! . And no losers. None excluded from the honour! This is God's blessing too, where there appears to be a mistake or injustice in who gets a medal and who misses out on what seemed a deserved medal. Each one of them (us) -- on all sides, is God's loved son or daughter. And God is well pleased with each one. They (we) are all on the podium.
Thanks to God! Let's sing HIS "national anthem!"

Isn't it wonderful to know that right now, not later, that we are the beloved Sons and Daughters of God. The burden that Mortals put on us, to excel this way or that way, and until we do, then we are beloved. How foolish, that kind of attitude, will cause stress, ill temper, and culminate in illness of one kind or another. But C/S teaches we don't have to go by that road. We are blessed and beloved now and forever.

What a lesson I have had with this DL, so unexpected and pure. In 2002, my two daughters applied to have their Dad carry the Olympic torch in our community. That torch is hanging on my family room wall. As I look at it today, it is much more than a physical object, but a true expression of Love. Of two girls who were able to honor their Dad, a dedicated marathoner, who passed away soon after that thrilling experience. I have always looked at that torch knowing the the spirit was so much bigger than the object, which reads "Light the fire within", but this morning it is lighting up the Love and joy in a whole new way. Thank you Mark,

If everything anyone does is a call to Love, an attempt to be whole, at one with God, we can rise to that challenge greater than any athletic competition, to love more as Love does. That call or behavior might seem to us to be unconscious or conscious, effective or dysfunctional, fearful or ungrateful, faithful or cynical, yet we can just love him/her more dearly through knowing that our Father-Mother created and loves him/her, knowing he/she is always perfect. The more he/she cries out for Love, often the more we dislike and misunderstand that calling, so the more we can seek and see God's grace and goodness expressed, and the more we can express those qualities we would rather see in that dearly-beloved of God. This loving seeing another as always perfect and beloved of God is the reward, the "win". The gold, the treasure beyond counting is our transformation to be more humble, gracious, compassionate, teachable, grateful, gentle, forgiving, trusting God, celebrating God's goodness active in his/her life. This week's lesson on how Spirit liberates us from the enslaving dream, and brings peace and joy through greater spiritually-reasoned loving, mentions these fruits of Spirit. If every step we take in a race, gymnastics routine, jump, etc., changes the foot, we can walk this love-work, trusting it also transforms us. Win-win, we're all winners. And more and more so. We can never get worse in this ever increasing challenge and triumph. Hurray!

Thank you Mark !

Dear Mark
Thank you so much for your uplifting and enspirind "Daily Lift".
One is reminded at this time of the Olimpics here in Great Briton.
Before being introduced into Christian Science, one had the privilage to of had two Martial Arts Teachers.
One would always say, " When you have entered or participated in any activity you are a winner ".
Ones Christian Science Teacher has said many times. " Put your hand on the handle of the door, then go through it ".
Then, Proverb 3: 5-6
5.Trust in the Lord with all thin heart; and lean not unto thin own understanding.
6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
It is interesting to observe it states "paths (plural).
Oh, what a wonderful eternal journey we all have before us.
Love in Christ

With no TV reception, & PC sound usually not working, I'm reading about Olympics. Mark, thanks for reminding us we are valued by our heavenly Father for being His beloved child, not for any accomplishments we've done. Yet, if we honor the Olympic spirit, we should strive to live up to the highest ideals of man, and not let daily events flow along when they show influences not brought about by God. We can't be blind to mortal mind's attempt to be real, to manipulate our own and others' thoughts, so that unhappy or dangerous situations seem to develop and victimize us or others. The Olympic Latin motto, “Citius, Altius, Fortius” , is within our God-given ability to be faster, more alert to truths instead of taking in errors suggestions, reach higher than mortal thinking believes man can think and act, and take a stronger, more radical stand in expecting good, and in service to Church and fellow man. When God spoke His approval of Christ Jesus, that "laurel" rests on us by following Jesus' words & works. He said believers would do His works (John 14:12), so our work would be approved by God, because it is God given work, God given success. In truth, we can't fail, for we are His beloved, and God is with us, expressing Himself in us every step of the way. Peter proved God given qualities of the Christ are more valuable than gold, when having no silver or gold to give a lame from birth beggar, he gave what he had learned of the Christ, and healed him. (Acts 3). Better than gold!

I am lodging a very short distance from today's Olympic 'cycle road race' and shared a momentous moment with all those standing around me, the winning of a British gold medal. And 'better far than gold' was all the joy, love, and friendship expressed by all those standing around me. :-)

- 8/1/2012Wonderful reminder, Mark, thank you.
Gold medals come and go--by the time the next Games roll around, who woll be able to remember the gold winners in these Games?. But who we are, as God's reflection, never can be altered, nor is our relation to Him conditioned by our being "the winner". Thank you for reminding us of that truth.

- 8/1/2012Yes, Mark! Thanks for the reminder that knowing we are each God's child is pure gold itself> I'll go on the strength of that today, every day. All God's children win in the spiritual olympics.

- 8/1/2012"And lo a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Matt.

- 8/1/2012Oh Wow, Mark!

- 8/1/2012This is a wonderful lift!
- 8/1/2012This is great Mark.

- 8/1/2012Isn't it wonderful to know that right now, not later, that we are the beloved Sons and Daughters of God.

- 8/1/2012What a lesson I have had with this DL, so unexpected and pure.

- 8/1/2012If everything anyone does is a call to Love, an attempt to be whole, at one with God, we can rise to that challenge greater than any athletic competition, to love more as Love does. Hurray!

- 8/1/2012Thank you Mark !

- 8/1/2012Dear Mark

- 8/1/2012With no TV reception, & PC sound usually not working, I'm reading about Olympics.

- 8/1/2012Many thanks Mark for this inspiring lift. Yes. "We each express this 'Goodness of God' [each] in our own way." I am lodging a very short distance from today's Olympic 'cycle road race' and shared a momentous moment with all those standing around me, the winning of a British gold medal. And 'better far than gold' was all the joy, love, and friendship expressed by all those standing around me.
