4th of July, the US celebrates freedom, but freedom needs to be protected. Cruel tyranny and oppression (although short lived) can delay the progress of any land. Japan, Germany, Spain, Syria, are just some of the many lands that suffered because of greed for power.
Only recognizing God as All powerful a nation can progress.
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us" Isaiah 33:22

Thanks Evan for your special message for Syria on your Independence Day. I love Mrs Eddy's message taken from Paul's writings;"Citizens of the world accept the "glorious liberty of the children of God." and be free! This is your divine right." S&H 227:24-26 By accepting our God- given freedom ourselves we are helping others to find their freedom. Happy Independence Day! Ann K London England.

Dear Evan, Many thanks for your daily lift today. You always give us much food for thought.
I often turn to hymn 179 in the Christian Science Hymnal where it begins with the words, "Love one another,-word of revelation;" and ends with "Love, Love alone is power.
My Best Wishes to you all in the States for 4th July.

What a beautiful prayer, dear Evan. Thank you for bringing such clarity to a situation clouded by self-righteousness. Divine Love is the answer, has the answer, and everyone can find God's love and the peace that it brings through heartfelt prayer, just like the one that you have given us today. The world is uplifted.

Many thanks Evan for this great reminder. Yes. "Divine Love [the only true power] can conquer the hate...and [all mankind] live in peace!" Thank you, Evan, for "Prayer for Syria...violence and war...the Lord...will save us...a higher power in this world...God the supreme power over all...with the final say...for the common good of the people...cruel tyranny and oppression...doomed...not the people..." Your healing Lift has alerted me to hold in consciousness God's sovereignty, instead of allowing the "news of the day" to be engraved in thought. Whether in "the fight" or an onlooker, none of us is helpless. "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8) Thanks again, Evan, this call to prayer.

Oneness and Allness: it is so freeing to know that "as in Heaven, so on Earth" - what is true for us is true for all ... heal "ourselves" of the belief of mortality, and we free our "whole consciousness". It worked for the Berlin wall ... it only takes "One".

Dear Evan, Thank you. This too is my prayer.
July Fourth is not just the United States' celebration of independence from tyranny but we collectively celebrate and support the inalienable rights of all mankind: "self-government, reason, and conscience. Man is properly self-governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love." (Science and Health p. 106)
Today my prayers embrace all those suffering from mental oppression, seeking emancipation from man's worst enemies sin, disease and death, with the fact of the ever-present healing Christ, the power of God with men, bringing out man's nobility, goodness, and infinite capacity to reflect divine Love, so as to love his neighbor as himself. I have loved studying what I call the "freedom pages" in Science and Health - pages 223-232. "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Thank you, Evan, for your unselfish prayer for Syria on this our U.S. Independence Day! I was thinking of a little story in the Bible (does anyone know where this is?) about how just one wise man prayerd and kept his city from being beseiged by a greedy, conquoring army. The power of One knowing, and now, All of Us knowing - can indeed bring needed Peace and Love to Syria. As Mrs. Eddy wrote, in her spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, "Enable us to know, as in heaven, so on earth, God is omnipotent, supreme." Let's all continue our Prayers of Knowing God is Governing our dear World! Happy Independence and Freedom and Love and Peace to All! Shalom! Namaste!

I love that a reference to Syria is included in the story of the innocent birth of Jesus, of which, the Angel of the Lord said to the faithful receptive shepherds, such a birth is a sign this (eternal) day of good tidings of great joy, "which shall be to all people."
(Luke 2).
Our Lord, our judge, our lawgiver, our king is able to save Syria.

The complicated web of motive and action in man dominating man seems beyond understanding.
When we lived in England almost 5 years, we enjoyed hosting a little party for our neighbors celebrating the 4th of July. (“Cheeky”) They enjoyed letting us know that they thought of it as a “good rid’ins to the pesky colonies” party! We had a great time together.
Those pesky colonies concept of “one nation under God” (rather than kings) was a divine inspiration, I am sure. Now as we turn our view to the world, we can realize that every person and nation is, in reality, under God. This cannot remain dormant or suppressed. As in individual healing, wishing something bad would go away doesn’t really cut it. Knowing that divine Love (freely given) is the expression of Principle (ever operative law) is an action of God’s government. As anyone who has received a healing with the prayerful help of another individual miles and miles away knows, distance is not a factor in being blanketed by Love. I vote for God’s government in Syria.
Thanks for the call, Evan.
And thanks Rosita #26, I am going to the "freedom pages" now.

Evan, this is a great prayer for all mankind, each and every day under every circumstance. So many nations are achieving a better, more spiritual sense of their own identity, and we must give thanks for this vast move forward right now. Surely we must attribute this Daily Lift and its wide listening family for the Word of divine Truth that goes out without limitation or conditions five days a week. Surely the number of Christian Scientists travelling about the world will increase the effect of the Lift wherever there is someone connecting to it. Not too long ago there were 2000 people saying they Liked it, and now there are almost 5,600!
Well done Nate and the team and many thanks to the BoL and lecturers, and thank you, too Evan; and to the Daily Lifters, helping to spread the Word.

We are all witnesses to this power.
The Christian Science Hymnal has a hymn which aptly describes how this works.

Way back in the late and early 1960's & 1970's, I had a C/S Practioner who told me that WW|| was so horrible, that a war like that will never happen again. How wrong she was. Look how many smaller wars have occurred since then, where innocent people were killed and slaughtered. Bosnia for example, where people were killed only because of their different religious beliefs. Prayer, yes, but the right kind that will wake up these men & woman to the idea that God is a loving God for all mankind, not for a select few, that humanly force their ideas on others that produce these monstrosities. Then and only then will this carnage stop. Educating from childhood about loving your neighbor will do much.

Evan, thank you so much for bringing out a solution to the seeming worry of Syria. We do get caught up in just thinking something has to be the way it is and wonder where it will go. You have helped direct the thoughts to go in a different direction. I will hold to your words, as i am sure those that have read your lift, will also do. I have been wanting to be guided for a prayer for Syria and you have answered that prayer. In S&H on page 450 Mary Baker Eddy says, "Who, that has felt the perilous beliefs in life, substance, and intelligence separated from God,can say that there is no error of belief? Knowing the claim of animal magnetism, that all evil combines in the belief of life, substance, and intelligence in matter, electricity, animal nature, and organic life, who will deny that these are the errors which Truth must and will annihilate? Christian Scientists must live under the contant pressure of the apostolic command to come out from the material world and be separate. They must renounce aggression, oppression and the pride of power. Christianity, with the crown of Love upon her brow, must be their queen of life." It all begins and ends with Love. Ever present Love. Together, we can all shower (and blanket) Syria with Love. Thank you again, for this eye opening lift on July 4th.

Thank you so much Evan for your prayer for Syria. I love the ideas you share for their appropriateness especially today ... our own naiton's Independence Day. My prayer for freedom from the mental tyranny of mortal images suggesting man as subject to material conditions and personalities, was answered with a simple glimpse of divine reality ... that true being, my own and my neighbor's, is singularly spiritual, though infinite in quality, not material and multiple in quantity, and reflecting "one universal God, the invisible good dwelling in eternal Science." (p. 78) I am rejoicing with you and all commenting on today's Lift in this asssurance from the textbook of our Comforter ... "Like our nation, Christian Science has its Declaration of Independence. God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience." (p. 106) That endowment is all that is real and active in both the divine and the human economy today. Happy 4th of July everyone!

The Assad family-rulers of Syria right now-as that country deals with civil war- are all trained in the medical profession and its various aspects and its sad that their work right now doesn't allow them to utilize the compassion and love many physicians have for their patients. S ometimes we feel we are the only ones praying about a difficulty-but then I am reminded of the Bible admonition that "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man availth much." That's an assurance we all can draw strength and encouragement from.

Thank you, Evan, for a beautiful Independence Day Prayer. I join you in it, not just for Syria, but for all people everywhere. Wanting freedom for all people doesn't mean to force a copy of our government on any country, but yields, and trusts in the divine law of Principle, divine Love. yea, the divine Mind of all. With God, all involved are blessed. I also heard much in this prayer to use to dust spaces in my own country that need tidied up with inspiration to eliminate lazy, indifferent, ignorant, or greedy citizens to become responsible ones to preserve, and increase the good we have. I "saw & heard" fireworks in the wake of this prayer - silent, yet echoing bursts of peace, joy, freedom, harmony spraying over the world. There are 51 comments as I post this, all so loving and inspiring. There has been forward movement today on this and wherever need for more freedom exists. Thank you, all. This is only a hint of more who hear, read, and offer their prayers, not yet seen here.

when I hear about the so-called greatness of kings and generals, I think about when the disciples asked Jesus who is greatest among them, and Jesus answered, He who is greatest among you is most servant of all. And, of course, our divine Exemplar, was the greatest servant to humanity, teaching us, healing the sick, raising the dead, through God, his (our) Father-Mother, through Truth and Love. So with Evan leading the day today, by following Jesus, we can together pour in "oil and wine" like the Good Samaritan, "pour in Truth through flood-tides of Love", and like so many Lifters have said, blanket Syria with the comfort wherewith we are comforted.

Cristy
¡ Feliz Día de la Independencia !!!

All helpful and necessary observations on God the Creator's ultimate government. (A small comment: the "under God" part of the U.S. Constitution was added in recent years, and whether one believes that it is Under God or not, it is good to include all Life as Independent of the tyranny of error, no matter how we describe Truth, where we are or what language we speak, may we include all Created Equal! Independent of Fear, tyranny, & other false identification.

This was wonderful. I have been praying about Syria along other lines, and appreciated this fresh, inspired idea -- one Judge, Lawgiver. I have been praying with some ideas from Daniel, second chapter.
Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

The tearing down of the old, to make way for the new. The self-destruction of error. One error of the ages is handing down to the children the hatreds and calls for revenge to the next generation. The Sunnis and the Shiites are and have been fighting over the successor to Mohammed for about 600 years. Compare that to Queen Elizabeth traveling to Ireland, and shaking hands with the "enemy" from the "troubles" of just a few years back. And Prince Phillip shaking the hand of the murderer of his brother Lord Mountbatten, publicly, for the sake of peace going forward. Syria, purified, will be peaceful.Progress is the law of God.

- 7/4/20124th of July, the US celebrates freedom, but freedom needs to be protected.

- 7/4/2012Thanks Evan for your special message for Syria on your Independence Day. I love Mrs Eddy's message taken from Paul's writings;"Citizens of the world accept the "glorious liberty of the children of God." and be free! This is your divine right." - 7/4/2012Dear Evan, Many thanks for your daily lift today. You always give us much food for thought.
I often turn to hymn 179 in the Christian Science Hymnal where it begins with the words, "Love one another,-word of revelation;" and ends with "Love, Love alone is power.
My Best Wishes to you all in the States for 4th July.

- 7/4/2012What a beautiful prayer, dear Evan. Thank you for bringing such clarity to a situation clouded by self-righteousness. Divine Love is the answer, has the answer, and everyone can find God's love and the peace that it brings through heartfelt prayer, just like the one that you have given us today. The world is uplifted.

- 7/4/2012Thank you, Evan, for "Prayer for Syria...violence and war...the Lord...will save us...a higher power in this world...God the supreme power over all...with the final say...for the common good of the people...cruel tyranny and oppression...doomed...not the people..." Your healing Lift has alerted me to hold in consciousness God's sovereignty, instead of allowing the "news of the day" to be engraved in thought.

- 7/4/2012Oneness and Allness: it is so freeing to know that "as in Heaven, so on Earth" - what is true for us is true for all ... heal "ourselves" of the belief of mortality, and we free our "whole consciousness". It worked for the Berlin wall ... it only takes "One".

- 7/4/2012Dear Evan, Thank you.

- 7/4/2012Thank you, Evan, for your unselfish prayer for Syria on this our U.S. Shalom! Namaste!

- 7/4/2012I love that a reference to Syria is included in the story of the innocent birth of Jesus, of which, the Angel of the Lord said to the faithful receptive shepherds, such a birth is a sign this (eternal) day of good tidings of great joy, "which shall be to all people."
(Luke 2).
Our Lord, our judge, our lawgiver, our king is able to save Syria.
Thank you for reminding me as I follow the daily Christian Science Monitor reports on Syria.

- 7/4/2012The complicated web of motive and action in man dominating man seems beyond understanding.
Peter from NY
- 7/4/2012Thank you, Evan. Just the fact that you have led us all to pray for Syria and its people has a healing effect. It naturally expands to bless all of God's ideas with His justice, protection from evil and everpresent Love.

- 7/4/2012Thanks Evan, FREEDOM comes from the understanding that God's government is the only one; and is all good. - 7/4/2012Evan, this is a great prayer for all mankind, each and every day under every circumstance.

- 7/4/2012Yes!! This prayer is powerful, and gains in power, overcomes all resistance and fear.
We are all witnesses to this power.
The Christian Science Hymnal has a hymn which aptly describes how this works.

"Thou sendest Thy witnesses [angels], telling Thy worth,
To call and entreat every nation,
With news of Thy mighty salvation."

- 7/4/2012Way back in the late and early 1960's & 1970's, I had a C/S Practioner who told me that WW|| was so horrible, that a war like that will never happen again.

- 7/4/2012Evan, thank you so much for bringing out a solution to the seeming worry of Syria.

- 7/4/2012Thank you so much Evan for your prayer for Syria.

- 7/4/2012The Assad family-rulers of Syria right now-as that country deals with civil war- are all trained in the medical profession and its various aspects and its sad that their work right now doesn't allow them to utilize the compassion and love many physicians have for their patients. S ometimes we feel we are the only ones praying about a difficulty-but then I am reminded of the Bible admonition that "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man availth much." That's an assurance we all can draw strength and encouragement from.

- 7/4/2012Thank you, Evan, for a beautiful Independence Day Prayer.

- 7/4/2012when I hear about the so-called greatness of kings and generals, I think about when the disciples asked Jesus who is greatest among them, and Jesus answered, He who is greatest among you is most servant of all.

- 7/4/2012Thank you Evan for that reminder that people in Syria and our world are working to find their freedom from oppression. Looking back over the history of the world, the examples of individuals who provided leadership to win freedom from injustice and tyranny, and their bravery in small and outstanding acts, is still present today. Mind, God, the Mind that all men and women do express, is operating now!

Cristy
¡ Feliz Día de la Independencia !!!

- 7/4/2012All helpful and necessary observations on God the Creator's ultimate government.

- 7/4/2012This was wonderful.

- 7/6/2012The tearing down of the old, to make way for the new.
