- 6/4/2012Homecoming doesn't exist in time, but in the presence of God. The star of Bethlehem is forever showing the way to this presence.

- 6/4/2012Thank you so much, this feeling to come home I experienced exactly when I came into a CS branch church for the first time..

- 6/4/2012Many thanks Chet for this loving brotherly lift for Annual Meeting Day when we all embrace one another in every place around the world together. "Home is the Father’s sweet “Well done,”/ God’s daily, hourly gift of grace./ We go to meet our brother’s need,/ And find our home in every place." (Christian Science Hymnal Supplement #443).

- 6/4/2012Thank you, Chet.
I did feel at home during my visit to The Mother Church several months ago. A great healing followed my visit there.
I will be part of the homecoming by watching the annual meeting live over the internet from my study here in Chicago.
Truth, Wisdom,Love, and Sincerity, to ALL mankind.

- 6/4/2012Thanks Chet. And thanks also to Nate, Mary, Lyle, Margaret and Michael for the Daily Lifts leading up to yours of today. It's neat to know that we can truly all join together for our Annual Meeting even if we cannot be present (or maybe not even be awake during the live podcast). We are of One Mind, one family for a single homecoming.

- 6/4/2012Thanks Chet,
Yesterday was more than a regular service at our Branch Church. There certainly was the feeling of the oneness of purpose and mission without the loss of individuality.
Yesterday at Church there was this strong sense of togetherness as individuals all over the world were united to the sense of Church. We do not all have to speak the same language, just be unified in purpose. The Bible Lesson is key.
If flowers or plants spoke, it is possible they would speak different languages, especially when they are transplanted from one country to another; this however is of little importance when we consider that around the world, no matter what measurement of age is used on them, or analysis of their location, they are all seeking to grow and to do this, they turn to the light - as we all are today (and yesterday) and every day. Purpose, not measures, is key
I think of Hymn 381 that brought so much healing to my life when a hurricane was approaching Barbados and I was in California. Specifically the second verse, part of which reads
"The hearts of men are homeward turning
To God Who giveth rest from fears"
and the third verse includes the following line
"Great peace have they, and unsought joy"
JOY! It is already there.
Mrs. Eddy's Poem (304) helps to bring that sense of togetherness and that even though the work may at times appear long and we may feel alone, we WILL "enter by the door" for God 'knows his own'
Thank you and Many Many Blessings to all.

- 6/4/2012Thank you so much dearest Chet for this message of "Coming back Home". Today at Annual Meeting we definitely feel that wonderful presence of unity and the deep sense of "Home" with all our brothers and sisters gathering here in The Mother Church in the "Christ Calling us Together". Much much love and gratitude to you.

Michael
- 6/4/2012Thank you Chet,
While most of us can only imagine what the prodigal son must have experienced. I am reminded of the first time I read the book, Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The adventure of being away from home, perhaps on vacation, is a lot different than the trials one faces when experiencing extreme challenges. The heroes of the story are always reminded of home, always referred back to the comforts of home, and always knew they were defending the principles of home.
There is an old saying, "You can never go home" referring to the fact that home changes from the memories we hold of it. And perhaps that's good, but I don't think it's home that changes, as much as it is that our concept and appreciation of home is constantly improving. I was always impressed by the last words in Tolkien's book spoken by Sam who simply said on his return, "Well, I'm back." Those words were so fitting at the end of trials, tribulations and even the return home when things seemed perfect again.
Our spiritual homecoming is always something new and better each time we find ourselves in need of refreshment. It comes daily and hourly when we seek Christ. And the homecoming party is always fantastic.

- 6/4/2012Yes, I certainly felt at home when I visited the Mother Church many years ago. Thanks so much for providing the link for the Annual Meeting. I plan to attend at 10 AM in Crescent City and can just return to this lift and click on the link - so convenient! I am really looking forward to attending together with people from around the world!

- 6/4/2012Beautiful, Chet! This is the Day - We all may Say - Welcome Home! - You're Here to Stay! Happy Annual Meeting Day to Everyone. All our Thoughts and Hearts will be united - whether in person or on the Internet! Yes! I love that line from C.S. Hymn #443: "And find our home in every place." And I think I'm quoting Mrs. Eddy here from one of her writings: "Home is not a place, but a power." Feeling the Power and Presence of God is being at Home! And within the embrace of the Mother Church and all the Branch Churches, we can certainly feel this Power and Presence of God! Welcome Home Everyone! XOXO!!

- 6/4/2012This will be my first time to be able to hear the Annual Meeting on line and I'm looking forward to it. On the last day of a fall bus tour to the east coast many years ago the bus driver gave us a tour of Boston and took us by the Mother Church and made some nice comments about it. I had then wished that I could go to a service there but it was not to be. Now, thanks to being on the internet I can enjoy both the Sunday and Wednesday services and I do feel at home. The Daily LIft has given me a sense of family sharing in that special Love. Thank you Chet for your message and all who participate in spreading the Word, Nate, BOL, production crew, and commentors. You are such a blessing!

- 6/4/2012Yes, I well remember that feeling of "coming home" to Chrisitan Science ... I grew up in the C.S. Sunday school and knew nothing but Christian Science as a way of life for my first 20 years. But as I became an adult, I felt I didn't need it any more and left Christian Science far behind me. I wandered around, happily I thought, for the next 15-20 years, turning to the medical community for any health needs. But at one point, a difficult and painful physical condition could not be diagnosed nor helped, and in desperation, I reached out to Christian Science and a loving practitioner for help. I'll never forget picking up my Bible and Science and Health again for the first time in years .... Blew off the dust and gingerly opened the pages .... And the feeling of "coming home" was overwhelming. I remember the tears of joy and comfort as I reconnected with what I loved and cherished after all. I felt God's presence in a most tangible way. I felt wrapped in His loving arms and so cared for, so comforted. I was home. And I was HEALED. Thank you for this beautiful lift, Chet, which reminded me of this precious experience so many years ago now. It feels so good to be at home with God, no matter where I am. I, too, will be joining everyone at today's Annual Meeting on line .... Can't wait!

- 6/4/2012Thank you so much Chet, - what a wonderful welcome! I suddenly realized one day that all the oil paintings of bush shacks I had been buying over the years, revealed I had been searching for a better sense off home - ours was pretty much in a constant state of upheaval at that time with four teenagers and everyone living very busy lives. Then I realized that the desire for a more harmonious sense of home was really a hunger for a more spiritual sense of consciousness. We're really always a work in progress, but I'm certainly in a much more harmonious place now, and each one has come to a more peaceful mental attitude.
Not sure if I will wait until 3 am, or just watch when I wake in the morning. . .
Thank you so much Nate - what a great new daily podcast you gave us; thanks to the BoL and lecturers; and thank you to the coming and going, changing and growing, growing ever more spiritual family of Daily Lifters.

- 6/4/2012One thing that I love about Christian Science, it brings out the oneness of all mankind, whether, Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, or Hindu. The oneness of Democratic, Liberal, or Republican. All in the eyes of our ever loving Father, Mother, God. No one thinks, "I don't like you because your religion is different from mine, or your political beliefs are different than mine". This is just what this 2012 Annual Meeting will bring out and all the past Annual Meetings of The Mother Church brought out.
Sue
- 6/4/2012We are also gathering at our branch church to see and listen to the Annual Meeting. The gathering at our church will feel like coming home as it seems each time we are together. Mrs. Eddie wonderfully provided for us with the Daily Lesson and a church in which to gather and share.
Peter
- 6/4/2012Chet, thank you. It's so wonderful to be coming together with a spiritual focus today. Thanks to all who have worked to present the Annual Meeting webcast for us. We here in Westchester County NY have been rejoicing in a community-wide effort involving many prayers for the family of a missing teenage boy over six days last week. Our branch church and other C.S. churches in our area as well as thousands of others prayed earnestly last Wednesday evening to be able to see and know that "none can beyond His omnipresence stray." (Hymn #66 & 421) Later that evening the boy was found in NYC and returned home to his family. All can be grateful for him, his family and friends, and also for the inspiring way that the whole community reached out with one purpose -- motivated by divine Love.

- 6/4/2012Thanks, Chet; and thanks to Christian Science friends. To those who go home to sadness or to a sense of being unwelcomed, I pray they gain the true sense of home.

- 6/4/2012Chet this lift was a beautiful reminder for me. I was raised in C.S. and attended C.S. school in Mo. After school I joined the Marine Corp and fell away from C.S.. 25 years later while in prayer seeking answers, God told me to "go home". I had no clue what he meant and was very frustrated for a couple of more months until 1 Sunday I decided I was going to visit the local C.S. church. When I arrived things felt really nice and then the first hymn was Mrs. Eddy's "Feed my Sheep". I will never forget the overwhelming sence of peace and love I felt. When the hymn ended and I sat down I thought to myself how wonderful and secure I felt.....I felt like I had come "home"...and the then the light went off so to speak...that was what God had told me months earlier. I love C.S., I live these Lifts and love being home again. Thank you for all you do.

- 6/4/2012Thank you, Chet for "Spiritual homecoming ...universal truths...prodigal son..." One way I’ve considered the prodigal son story is as ideas in consciousness. Father (Spirit), Elder Son (Obedience), and Prodigal (Disobedience) play lead roles with a cast of thousands of other thoughts and ideas: matter-based, defying and Spirit-based, supporting my spiritual growth and development. What the sons have in common is behaving from human ego / matter-based identities, instead of from a deep understanding and sincere appreciation of Spirit. The Prodigal’s experience, including his human views yielding to Divine Truth, earns him a true obedience. I’ve decided not to let unforgiving, limited Elder Son thoughts discourage me from leaving old, undesirable, even desirable ways. I have a Divine right to follow the Christ call for a new / renewed understanding and appreciation of my true God-defined identity. In Science and Health (vii), Mrs. Eddy reminds us, “The time for thinkers has come. Truth, independent of doctrines and time-honored systems, knocks at the portal of humanity. Contentment with the past and the cold conventionality of materialism are crumbling away. Ignorance of God is no longer the stepping-stone to faith. The only guarantee of obedience is a right apprehension of Him whom to know aright is Life eternal. Though empires fall, ‘the Lord shall reign forever.’" The human must yield to the Divine…the sooner the better...now is as good a time as any.

- 6/4/2012Thank you Chet for this homecoming message
I will be "in church" at the Annual Meeting today, from "home turf"
and praying along with the whole family of God, wherever we are.
I love Mrs. Eddy's definition of Church: The structure of Truth and Love (God's structure.)
And it is so big, it is everywhere, without limits.
And there is no family, no town, no country, no church, no child, man or woman left out. We are all built into it! We too have the structure of Truth and Love. It's what we are made of.
I am so grateful for all the Daily Lifts all year! This is a tremendous service to humanity.

- 6/4/2012Nothing feels more like "coming home" than returning to A CS Church after a prodigal son adventure. I strayed after high school but upon returning after my children were born -- I wanted them to understand God and the beloved Bible stories as only a CS Sunday school could teach them -- I felt so welcome and loved.
I've attended many branch churches over the years as we moved and traveled and the one thing that is so special about each experience is the continuity of the unchanging Bible Lessons and the order of service in each place.
It's the "Mother Love of Mrs. Eddy in giving us the Manual and It's the obedience of all branch churches to follow, that makes us all feel the WELCOME HOME each time we are in a Christian Science church.
And yes, having visited The Mother Church in Boston I say, THERE is Love and the feeling of HOME.
J.S. in Kentucky
- 6/4/2012Thank you Chet. This awakens a sense of home beyond parental ties & childhood location. Far from my Branch Church, I feel home the few times I get there. I connect by phone the rest of the time, and feel close to members and what's going on. It's like I'm in Louisville during Phone Committee duties, Board meetings, and Metaphysical Meetings I now lead by phone. I get a mental sense of being home, even when I long to be there in person. After moving, & many years before I had unlimited long distance service, the membership embraced my family with love, felt over the great distance. I appreciate that I can see the annual meeting by Internet. When some of my now grown children were in elementary school, one's former teacher saw me at a local event. She figured I'd not get to Boston, but The Mother Church was included on a tourist tour she'd taken. She wanted me to know how beautiful it was. Mine was the only Christian Science family known in our small town, and we hadn't lived here but a few years. I was so touched by her love and thoughtfulness. Through the DL, I've "met" many members and others sharing Lifts, from around the world and all over the US. From comments made recently, many of the DL family will, like me, watch by computer. We'll be together, yet watching in different rooms of our shared spiritual home. So far, my sound hasn't come on for over a week, but I'll watch, if rebooting multiple times doesn't start sound. # 9 Troy, I loved the flower analogy.

- 6/4/2012Thank you Chet! I'm going to tune into the Annual Meeting today though I didn't even know it was happening.

- 6/4/2012AHHH...HOME IS A PRESENCE AND A POWER, THE ONLY PRESENCE AND POWER. Mrs. Eddy alludes to these ideas in several places in her writings. In my own way I understand myself to be always in the presence of Love, so I'm always at home. This is especially helpful since I travel a lot for my work as a Christian Science Nurse. So, wherever we may be geographically, we are always spiritually at home with God. What a comfort that has been to me over the years. Thanks, Chet, for your inspiring lift.

- 6/4/2012I love Barbara Cook's poem called Walkng into a church. It is like going home in a way. The first lines of the three paragraphs go like this: Walking into a church, should be like walking into a manger. Sitting in a church should be like sitting in a field of sunlight. Experiencing church should be like wading in a stream. Our church makes us feel so loved and cared for, no fear or shame, the simplicity of the Christ, makes us feel clean. Thanks for the Annual Meeting with love to all.

- 6/4/2012Congratulations for your appointment Mr. President! I am looking forward to a year loaded with blessings.
It was a joy to listen to the wonderful message of this year's Annual Meeting at The Mother Church. Your wish (reflecting our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy's wish) has become true for millions since she first discovered Christian Science back in the 17th century.
"Millions of unprejudiced minds — simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert" S&H 570:14, have been blessed, they have come home to the Father.

- 6/6/2012Thank you so much Chet for reminding me of my homecoming.
I'll never forget the first time I walked into church after being away from it for about 30 years.
I just had such a warm overwelming enveloping sense of peace and completeness that I'd finally come back home.
In the gap in between I'd always felt like I'd been a rebellous prodigal of personal sense and willfulness.
When I finally returned to church I innately knew I belonged there, having found what I had been searching for all throughout my life and not even realizing it.

- 6/12/2012Wow, I can't WAIT!!! to hear this Annual Meeting after reading all of the accolades here on this awesome avenue (one of many) to guide us on our journey. Due to the fact that we're in a facility that uses WiFi, and it doesn't reach all the wings as of yet, (it seems difficult to get it during the day without interruptions), I know that nothing can prevent or interrupt the Truth from being received.
