A ray of light to greet the day! How beautiful, and thank you.I like to think that David heard God with the same clarity that he heard music. That first ray of dawning light in consciousness is as beautiful and as clear today, and as loud as God's song! Mary Baker Eddy wrote in her Glossary in Science and Health " MORNING. Light:symbol of Truth; revelation and progress." It's a perfect sunny morning on the east sea-coast of the UK today, the first for a long time. Beautiful and thank you!

David ought to know, there's no place where God is not!
He trusted God since very young and God never left him to his own luck.
Oh, but David was no saint, and in the one occasion he forgot that God was always by his side, he did the unthinkable in those days, 2 Sam. 11:2, but his repentance was life changing and our loving and forgiving Father proved once more what real Love is.

Recently this very thought has come to me very strongly. I have a lovely extended family---all of whom have their feet planted firmly in a religion that differs greatly from mine. When I am with them I had begun to feel like an outsider. In praying about this situation, the answer came to me that there is, as you say, no outside to God's kingdom. There can be no outside and no outsider. Thanks for reminding me of this truth this morning.

Thank you John, We are always moving towards God, Light and Love. It simply isn't possible to move away from, or in any other direction. As God's own perfect reflection we simply can't be anyone else, or anywhere else. We are inseparable from Him. And it would be impossible for God to move in a different direction from where we are. We are the love reflected by Love, the light manifested as God. Since God would never separate Himself from His own reflection we always exist as the effect of the original glorious dawning of consciousness.

Thank you John,
Yesterday morining I found myself with similar thoughts, as I sat quietly praying. On my way to work someone hit my car. I was tempted to think that had I left home 30 seconds later, or 30 seconds earlier this would not have happened. I was focused on getting to work very early to push off a few things and then this happened.
As we moved our cars to the side, I immediately reached for the Bible Lesson and began to read. I knew I had to break the mesermerism that seemed to take over. I opened my thought to the fact that there is a healing in EVERY event, I just have to look for the pearl.
I worked to know that "accidents are unknown to God" (S&H, 424:5) and that I always move within the protection and love of God.
The Police lady was so loving and supportive. The other driver quickly admitted liability and the event took place right infront of where the car would be fixed. The estimate for repairs is alredy complete. I even got a few great photos while waiting by the road. I got to work 3 hours later than planned, but none of my work was delayed.
My car insurance was due last week, a friend told me do not fuss, pay it this week, I paid it last week. We sometimes have to take the human footsteps.
Many said I will now have serious back isssues. I worked all day knowing God was in control and there can be no "reaction from over-exertion or from EXCITED conidtions" (Mary Baker Eddy, Science & Health P 417). I am glad to say that all is well.

What a glorious thought...I am never seperate, away from, or "outside" of Gods love and protection. Every day as I go about getting ready for my day...putting on the whole armor...one of the peices I put on is His constant protection. I was taught in Sunday School as a child..."There is no spot where God is not!" What a wonderful peice of armor that thought is to me. Never outside or apart from Gods constant care, love, and protection!

I found this lift very comforting. Thank you Jon. It made me think of the relation between intelligence and light. There is no spiritual definition of light in the Glossary of Science and Health, but it is well defined in the Bible as a quality of God being expressed by the Christ, God's man.
I found this phrase from a poem by Samuel Longfellow that fits in well with today's lift:
"Thy presence fills my solitude;
Thy providence turns all to good."
(CS Hymnal #134).

Such a wonderful daily lift John, full of simple truth. Your lift makes me think of Acts 17:28 "For in him, we live and move and have our being." That's one of my favorite Bible passages. I remember one day when the meaning of that passage dawned in my thought--we exist in Him! We are not just God's reflection, we exist in Him. There is definitely "No outside God's presence." He is infinite and everywhere and we are the life he created, existing in him. Understanding that brings such peace and comfort. These truths from the Bible are so self evident, but until you grasp the spiritual perspective, you just don't see it. Funny how a passage you know so well can seem so new in meaning. That's what you did for us with your lift. Thanks so much. What a precious way to start the day!

The thing I like about the Psalm is that it implies that even if I make a dumb decision, like trying to live in the center of the ocean, God is still with me. If I have a huge, bad attitude and make my bed in hell, even then God is with me. My closely held opinions and best guesses are over-ruled by divine Love to keep me in all His ways!!

To Nina #18, you should never feel outside of any deeply religious family. When I visit my daughter and son-in-law I attend church with them at their Methodist Church and am always warmly welcomed. When my son-in-law was in intensive care in a hospital in another state a couple of years ago and given at best a 50-50 chance of survival, I contacted his church and requested they add his name to their prayer list. I received a very loving reply and assurance to always feel free to contact them and he would certainly be in their prayers. I will be seeing my daughter and son-in-law next week when I attend my C.S. Association meeting in So. California. This spiritual rap was shared in a letter from our speaker: "We are each one-of-a kind, But we all have the same Mind." We all have and pray to the same God.
Thanks, John, for the inspiring reminder that we are never separated from our loving Father-Mother God.

Thanks, John, for exactly what I need when/how it's needed. #22: some ideas that helped heal various back injuries-- God has our back. As the spine/skeleton is the body's structure and protection allowing progress, strength, and grace to do good and do it well, so is this embodiment of God's grace-filled ideas and all its members "the structure of Truth and Love" or temple/safe sanctuary sanctified to worship and praise God, all the members of the physical body or church body's or body politic united in mutual love and individually/collectively essential. What is true about our bible lesson is true about church and body as the temple of God: constituting a sermon undivorced from truth, uncontaminated/unfettered..., and divinely authorized" so the whole/holy point of this body/experience is the lessons/blessin's glorifying God, undisturbed by theories, xrays, wrecked car, witnesses' horror, but assigned/empowered by our Author for Her purpose, where breaks/divorce/separation/dislocation is impossible. The truth of my character, is true of my body, "I'm not twisted/perverted! I'm not broken/broke! God's beloved rep is not rejected/invalidated/invalid, since perfection is the only valid evidence of us. Since God's in control, and accidents impossible, what are the inspiring healing truths all of nature is now teaching of God's love to/as/for man? No exceptions to God's infinite goodness blessing all. NO objectionable pictures (xrays); love/exhibit S&H heals all. Now.

This idea that people have that one should never marry outside of their religion or ethnic group has no bases in moral law. As the bible says; "God is no respector of persons." No one is ever outside of God's presence. No person, whatever his color or religion, is any different from any other person. They love their offspring, their parents and their spouses equally. They want to accomplish for themselves like any one else. Any other attitude then these, to cause damage, to be jealous, to make war, are the causes we have to be careful of. No one is outside of God's presence.

Thanks, John, for "No 'outside' God's presence...the presence of good...God's love...even there..." The understanding of never being outside of God "even there," has been very healing for me, as hopes have been realized and yes! - proved over the years that God is with me and accessible as a "very present help" under every human circumstance. As I was considering your wonderful Lift this morning, I began to think God's "presence" also as God's "presents" - our "daily bread," blessings, "signs following," etc. and then, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." (Science and Health, 494) I remember the first time I ever read, "Shall we plead for more at the open fount, which is pouring forth more than we accept?" (Science and Health, 2) Not only is God with us; but, God never comes "empty-handed!!!" :-) And I say, "Lord, I am ready to accept my blessings by Your grace, for Your glory, and the highest good of all concerned!" Thanks again, John.

This is so helpful! Sometimes when I first wake up, I imagine that I am curled up in God's hand, safe like a baby. Of course I'm always "safe like a baby", but I really FEEL it in these moments. I've been trying to put God first in everything I do by feeling Her Love for me especially if I fall into old patterns of criticizing or worrying. First FEEL the Love, the Love that never leaves and is our very breath.

John, thank you for the short sweet and succinct Lift for today. My wife had a morning gig on Long Island, and called me from the middle of Manhattan traffic, mired, very much looking like she would be late to her gig, asking me to pray...I played your Lift and immediately felt confident of His presence and the idea of traffic, or anything, as an impediment to the right and timely placement of His idea, melted away. After the gig, my wife called me delivering news of blessedness for all involved, and we "were not a little comforted." our trust in God is strengthened and His love for man is unerring and unending ..

.Thanks John. Sometimes the concept of God as "everywhere" can be a little too ethereal to grab hold of when a difficult situation seems to focus our thought on some specific material condition. Remembering that "all is Spirit and spiritual" (S&H p, 331) includes specific ideas or images comprehensible to our native spiritual sense of God's creation, I am reassured and wait for that gentle tweek nudging me to open my thought, my spiritual eyes if you will, to know and feel God ideas are tangible, percpetible, right with me and eveyrone, everywhere where intelligent Spirit is infinite and fills all space.. Then I am able to shift perspective that relies on the physical sensations and lean a little more in the direction that hears and trusts the inuitions or angel thoughts speaking to me. To feel the assurance that God is in charge of His own creation, filling it with good ideas even represented as the "things" that are pleasing and good, altogether truely lovely representing God, in my human experience, is so comforting. Then it is easier to love God and all His creation. This takes work, moment by moment sometimes, for sure. But it is worth the effort and gets easier, more satisfying, and really fun with practice. Thanks for the great ideas supporting the effort.

You may have overheard a police patrol say, "If you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about." After spending a night without fear in a confined space with large cats, the Bible says, "So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God." (Dan.6:23) We should never ever at any time accept what does not belong to us, which in Christian Science means, "Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously. (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 392.)

Thank you for referring to David as a songwriter, and for helping us imagine him looking out over the Mediterranean, in the first morning light. The melodies of his songs are no longer well known, but lovely lyrics in translation inspire new settings, such as a fine solo we enjoy in our church.
This Lift helps remind me that God sustains and guides the workers upgrading the street leading to Alberta's provincial legislature outside our reading room, as well as the office workers and legislators, patients visiting a nearby clinic, and even the rainbow-grey pigeons nesting over the door - and all of us blessed by the Daily Lift too - everyone!
Last night, walking home from the bus, thoughts still busy with "to do's" were softened by the powdery scent of roses from a nearby bush, beside a many-hued lilac filled with blossoms -- not clearly seen by streetlight, but both still yielding forth aromatic beauty-- "blooming where they were planted"- even in the dark. The reassurance of flowers blooming through the night calmed and comforted my thought, like a caress from a Mother's hand. God's expressing is always, everywhere, All, and is at peace.

Thank you, John. This is an extra short Lift, but one that will last a looooong time! This Lift makes me realize this is the truest example of "poetic justice" That is a term used for vice being punished and virtue rewarded. David's poetry we call Psalm 139, would make all evil obliterated and leaves each of us, the child of Divine Mind, Love, blessed with continuous presence of God. We're kept in, by, and of Good, God. Paul gave a close version of this Lift to the Athenians, also referring to their poetry. It is recorded in Acts 17:22-28. Today's reminder is a valuable one to hold close, and use to reason with, when troubles try to claim mental territory. #26 Gary, my Webster's New Collegiate (1953 edition) has this definition: "Mental or spiritual illumination or enlightenment or its source;". One would think a Biblical definition would be given, since First John 1:5 says, God is light. The KJV I have, above the verse, titles the quote using Light with a capital "L". I see #29 Alabama connected to Acts 17, too. #46 c. snuffy smif, Thanks for the useful poem. # 45 Edi, & #54 Nela, Thanks! #63 Robert, Thanks for a good reminder for every problematic situation.

- 6/13/2012I love the way that Psalm (139) promises us that even though our Father-Mother God knows everything about us -- every thought! -- He/She is still loving us and leading us and holding us however far away we think we've gone. We are always within that embrace.

- 6/13/2012Recently this very thought has come to me very strongly.

- 6/13/2012Thank you John, We are always moving towards God, Light and Love.
Thank you Nate with your team; the BoL and lecturers; and the Daily Lifters.

- 6/13/2012Thank you John,
Yesterday morining I found myself with similar thoughts, as I sat quietly praying.

- 6/13/2012No outside God's presence -- we are all inside God's kingdom, together. And that is a good place to be. Thank you, John, for your comments today. I'll carry them with me.

- 6/13/2012What a glorious thought...I am never seperate, away from, or "outside" of Gods love and protection.
Thank you John for the reminder...!

- 6/13/2012I found this lift very comforting.
"Thy presence fills my solitude;
Thy providence turns all to good."
(CS Hymnal #134).

- 6/13/2012Such a wonderful daily lift John, full of simple truth.

- 6/13/2012Oh I love this song. It has been a recomfort in the most difficult situations. I like to think that David just realized that he could do anything that was assigned to him because he knew God was there leading him step by step.

- 6/13/2012The thing I like about the Psalm is that it implies that even if I make a dumb decision, like trying to live in the center of the ocean, God is still with me. If I have a huge, bad attitude and make my bed in hell, even then God is with me. My closely held opinions and best guesses are over-ruled by divine Love to keep me in all His ways!!

- 6/13/2012John, thank you for this insight into David's spiritual development. As a youth reaching out to God, his poetic healing words and music enabled him to bring calm to King Saul's troubled mind and heal his headaches in the early days. I love the idea that we can't be outside of the Kingdom of Heaven since God's goodness is All in all. Thanks also to Nina # 18.

- 6/13/2012To Nina #18, you should never feel outside of any deeply religious family.

- 6/13/2012What a beautiful Lift Jon. So comforting to know we can never be apart from God.
I recently had a big project done on my house and I didn't know the contractor or the crew to begin with. But, throughout the whole process it was evident that God was overseeing it and love bound us all together. They treated my home as they would lovingly treat their own. - 6/13/2012Thanks, John, for exactly what I need when/how it's needed. Now.

- 6/13/2012This idea that people have that one should never marry outside of their religion or ethnic group has no bases in moral law.

- 6/13/2012Thanks, John, for "No 'outside' God's presence...the presence of good...God's love...even there..." The understanding of never being outside of God "even there," has been very healing for me, as hopes have been realized and yes!

- 6/13/2012This is so helpful!

- 6/13/2012John, thank you for the short sweet and succinct Lift for today.

- 6/13/2012.Thanks John.

- 6/13/2012You may have overheard a police patrol say, "If you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about." After spending a night without fear in a confined space with large cats, the Bible says, "So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God." (Dan.6:23) We should never ever at any time accept what does not belong to us, which in Christian Science means, "Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously. (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 392.)

- 6/13/2012Thank you for referring to David as a songwriter, and for helping us imagine him looking out over the Mediterranean, in the first morning light.

- 6/13/2012Thank you, John.
