Back in the 1950s, while traveling with my parents, our car was broad sided. The scene was not a good one especially for my Mother and me. My first word was a resounding "NO" and then I yelled, very loudly, the whole Scientific Statement of Being from Science and Health by our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I had heard it every Sunday at the close of our Sunday School hour and was unaware that I knew every word.
I was offered the choice to go to a hospital, but refused. We were in Washington DC, far from home in NY, but I was confident. My Mother and I took a cab to our Hotel. I called a CS Practitioner who told me, "The Work has already been done, but I will happily support you". We stayed for three days.
In spite of what looked like a severe head injury I was completey healed and sightseeing the next day with my brother who had just finished his Military duty and my mother insisted on carrying her own suitcase as we left the Hotel. Those three days were filled with joy at our quick healings. Her ribs completly healed.

An instantaneous healing - or reversal! - of mumps in our second son was received with heartfelt joy and humility. Our son was only a toddler when we noticed the condition, and a very firm denial and affirmation of the Truth had an immediate good effect. The little fellow started to play with his older brother and there was absolutely no lingering discomfort or evidence. Thank you Evan, for this wonderful Lift. It was a pretty hectic schedule in Australia, and you presented every lecture with joy and freedom. Everyone spoke glowingly of your lectures, and there were many healings as a result. Well done! Make a choice! I like that. I noticed some cuts on my toddlers legs yesterday and my immediate thought was oh no. This looks like its going to take a long time to heal.

A few hours later once the child was asleep I took some time to think about my day. I realized - I made the wrong choice - after that - I made a different choice - claimed my divine right to be a Christian mother and pray for absolute perfection with a quick resolution. No child can ever fall out of God's love.

Thank you for that lovely thought. I always remember Mrs. Eddy's words "stand porter at the door of thought".

Some time ago I had a work assignment with an individual whom everyone said was difficult, aggressive and threatening and that I needed to be aware of their attacking manner. Something just felt so wrong with accepting those statements.

The morning I arrived to meet with the individual they brought me into a room and again warned me. I silently but firmly denied that thinking. I went outside to wait for their arrival and prayed to know that God is always in control and that there are not two separate minds, but the one Mind. I prayed that my work there will help open the eyes of others to this person's true potential.

In summary the meeting lasting for hours and there was not one episode of aggression in fact those that warned me, saw another side of the individual a tender loving person who needed to know someone was looking out for them; someone to show love, support and care.

The meeting ended harmoniously with a plan to help the individual. Those that attended said they were now seeing a new side to the individual. It is our duty to walk with the Christ-thought each and every step of the way.

Thanks to the lift, I truly enjoyed the thought of God being in conrol that came to me as I listened to you share this morning. Recently, I was the recipiant of an instantanious healing...by making the right choice, and allowing myself to reflect GOD and HIS control, by shutting out ALL aggressive mental suggestions of being anything less than the prefect reflection of GOD. A practitioner I work with had me look up and work with the word..."emulate"...and this is what we all do...emulate HIS control. So, when it comes to making the right decisions...that's simple...just emulate GOD...HIS wisdom will make the answer and the direction crystal clear...make the right decision...to emulate GOD...!

Thank-you Evan! After being elected First Reader I had a similar experience as I walked onto the platform to read one Sunday. It immediately came to me that this was a malicious attempt by animal magnetism to halt the sharing of Good and I quickly refused to cooperate with evil. Every time after that, as I walked onto the platform, I acknowledged God’s power and allowed Him to conduct the service. What a difference it made to make the choice even before the question came up!

Well done Evan – both the dismissal of an interruption to your lecture activity and for the sharing of the experience in a way that shows that these temptations (even feeling quite physical) are reversed by God’s connection to us.

Sometimes deadlines are just what we need. No time for mental detective sleuthing. Just have to take the kingdom of God for a fact!

Wow, now that's a real lift, lifted us right up, Evan! As #24 ma wrote, you can always spot a wrong choice and correct it in your thought even when you don't immediately think to do so. That happens with healing of course. And it is so powerful because we align ourselves with God and admit his reality as the only truth.

I realized after reading everyone's comments about an instance where my perception choice helped create good in a client's life. That moment of choice is very clear to me now. I do freelance work with a web design company, writing blogs for clients. I learned that one our clients was struggling with a slander problem from an anonymous source, He is a lawyer, and a number of attacks and smears against his good name had appeared on the web. I instantly rejected these lies as not who he is. It was just a quick thought that I filed in the back of my mind and continued writing his blogs, but doing so with a new purpose and care. We found out last week that CNN contacted him and plans to interview him about his legal opinion on a certain topic. They had read my blog. This PR opportunity will do a lot to clear his good name and bolster credibility for his legal skills,. I'm so happy for the lawyer. Yay! That seed of God's truth has blossomed. This the first time a blog I wrote attracted a major media outlet. Striving to grow in grace and let the truth shine through us brings so many blessings.

Grateful for your quick decision! I've been grateful for the times I've made quick decisions to accept messages of goodness from Father-Mother God! Then, when I'm slow to decide or accept, I realize that I can--right now--accept goodness, harmony, truth, love! OK, that's done. Everyday in the morning I say "Not my will but God's". Knowing that God is our daily help and to Him, we have all of our need, I decided to make THE RIGHT CHOICE. GOD is my Choice.

Thank you Evan, and all the lifter's comments. It reminds me of the time I had a successful experience in a courtroom, where I acted as a defence attorney for my son, since we could not afford a lawyer.
For days after the experience I kept rehearsing word for word the courtroom experience. I seemed unable to stop the mental process, but finally realized I needed to keep my mind on my work at hand for my own safety. Immediately the words "Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord..." broke the mesmerism and I stopped the mental rehearsal of the courtroom experience.

The words are from the Bible, Psalms 25:15; the full quotation reads, "Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net."

"CHILD OF GOD OVER AND OUT! " My teacher would tell us this phrase, if ever we need to mentally insist the truth of our being and anyone else in our experience. I saw the Mumps disappear within minutes as my eight year old son was talking to a Christian Science Practitioner on the phone. I will never forget, his face was radiant. Thank you Evan.

Excellent lift! Thanks, Evan. That split second decision makes all the difference between staying in the kingdom or being talked out of it. In the event we inadvertently chose wrongly due to fear or whatever, Mrs. Eddy kindly reminds us in Science and Health (p. 253) that we can get back on the right track at any time...I've found this is true so long as I am not berating myself for having allowed a lie to get in and mess with my thought...forgiving myself is an important step. God forgives me so I can forgive myself and others just like it says in the Lord's Prayer!

"Right endeavor possible If you believe in and practise wrong knowingly, you can at once change your course and do right. Matter can make no opposition to right endeavors against sin or sickness, for matter is inert, mindless. Also, if you believe yourself diseased, you can alter this wrong belief and action without hindrance from the body".

The early prophets came to mind as you spoke. You certainly are just like them, fearlessly running the good race, healing right and left. This lift inspires me to be brave and trusting while moving forward and more instant in the rebuke. Thank you for all you do, and that includes all the Daily Lift team.

Thank you Evan! You have underlined how important it is to immediately deny any thought that is unlike God, good to attach to one's self: to immeidately make the right choice in difficult situations. Just the other day, I unthinkingly grabbed (with intensity) a blazing hot casserole lid that had just been removed from a 425 F. degree oven! As the heat shock hit, I instantly claimed that nothing I touched could harm me and denied/rejected any effect that could result -- affirming my true image,likeness and substance as spiritual and I was unharmed -- then steadfastly, banished the whole incident from thought: as you quoted from MBE, "Admitting only such conclusions as you wish in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously."

Later that evening, I realized, with a heart overflowing with gratitude, that there was not a vestige or trace that this event had taken place! It came to me, too, that the strength and conviction of my rebuke (my choice) was a major part in error's inability to 'take hold'. How grateful I am for my increasing growth and understanding of Christian Science!

This is really great! Things we must remember if we would be "wise and healthy"! Thank you so much for this simple but powerful statement of the truth about God, and us!:-)

This is a beautiful and very useful lift. I just had a call from a close friend who reported that her son is recovering well from a serious surgery. I am so grateful to be a part of this effort to stay focused on the positive and to trust in God for the best outcome. She looked at the Daily LIft for the first time on the day of surgery and said that this gave her tremendous strength. I had showed her how to access it on her computer. I pray that she will want to seek this focus and spiritual uplift every day and I will encourage her too. I did not pray so much specifically for her son, rather held the stance for Truth and trust in God. I believe that is what she is thanking me for. I am so very very grateful for the Daily Lift. A child learns simple addition and years later immediately knows that 2+2 does not equal 5. Why? Because the child first learned the true answer is 4. When we study and acknowledge true being we cannot be duped into accepting the error and as easily as the child can say, no, my choice is Truth (God) . Terrific testmony! As I pondered and listened a second time, the word that came to me was "instant." Evan, you certainly demonstrated the meaning of "be instant in season, out of season" (II Tim. 4:2) and "continuing instant in prayer" (Rom. 12:12). You didn't delay and let the lie get a foothold in your thinking, which would have allowed it to grow bigger and seem harder to overcome -- instead, you handled it instantly. Your example is very helpful to me.
Thanks also to Jill #37, for bringing out the importance of making the choice even before the question comes up. We can be prepared for the test, even if we don't yet know what the questions will be.

Thank you Evan. This Lift is treatment, with inspiring testimony. The key word in Mrs. Eddy's quote, is "only". Mortal mind argues "only if, only and, or only but, and then questions, "What if a treatment doesn't work or work fast enough?" We have to go back to "Admitting ONLY such conclusions". Even if conditions don't change immediately, or even longer, we must stick to this simple truth. If we have any other thoughts not in keeping with this "only", they will either become known for us to handle, or drop away and never be known nor interfere any longer. You can be sure you will be thought of, with gratitude, many times in the future, especially when we must make an instant demonstration, as you did before your talk. I've shared my experience before, but this reminds me of being in a hurry to close my spinning & natural dyeing booth at a craft fair. I absent-mindedly thrust my hands into the kettle of what had been boiling water moments before and grabbed yarn. Visitors to the craft booth witnessed, and had seen me turn off the heat. I had to make their trip to the event ONLY a pleasant memory, and knew I could continue. They were stunned, and as I squeezed the steaming skeins to drain them, they asked how I could do that, seeing no pain or injury. Your demonstration shows us how to meet the the momentary suggestion that maybe, just maybe the false claim of mortal mind has "Gotcha", this time- but it melts to mere suggestion when met with the wisdom, strength, and steadfast conviction of the one infinite divine Mind that won't give up the ship!!! - because there really is just one Mind and no room for the false"Gotcha", on stage or wherever the need seems to be.

thanks you for this lift! I had a contact this morning from a coworker givingme a very ominous report about the status of our jobs whether they would be continuing. Immediatelly had to choose whether to accept or reject this false picture of my security. I choose to keep my security in all things grounded in God and know that A.M. had no power to do or change the Good that God has given me in all things health home finances work family. Its all the same. Your pinpointing this truth by your physical event at the lecture gave me added conviction as to the simplicity and power of a direct and strong denial of any form of an evil attack and the complete acceptance and knowing of the truth immediatelly "correcting and governing" the situation for good! Dear Evan and Lifter family - Thank you for your inspiring words. Often, it is difficult to know how to deny false claims when they try to be so REAL. Your clear message is a tutorial on how very simple it is to "hold steadfast to God and His idea". There is nothing complicated about it - just declare what is known to be true, that God is good, He truly guides us, guards us, and governs us each and every minute of the day. It is our choice whether to know that Truth, or fall prey to suggestions that we are somehow governed by outside influences. Thank you to everyone for explaining just how very simple it is to simply YIELD to God and to KNOW that He is everpresent.

Mathew: 3-15 " Suffer it be so now." Sometimes Jesus had to give in to mortal mind in order to bring out a spitual truth. I was in that position only 3 weeks ago when I was admitted into a hospital. I was there for almost 2 weeks when the main medical doctor told my son who doesn't practice Christian Science that he would release me in 2 days if he could put me through one more test. He also told my son if I was released now, I would have to sign a paper that would excuse the hospital of all responsibilities if any thing should happen to me. My son was adament that he did not want me to stay and to sign the release form. A choice had to be made. I asked God what I should do, not my will, and the answer came to me to stay for the test in order to protect myself from further wrong thoughts that put me in the hospital in the first place. Which I did and my son did not agree with me, but God did and that's the important and the only thing. C/S teaches that no matter what the material problem is, God will always supply the right answer to fix it.

Thanks for sharing your story. You followed your highest sense of right when faced with a pressing decision you had to make, and that’s what we all have to do. I’ve learned also that decisions we make, that feel compromised at the time, can be improved the next time we have an opportunity to make a similar decision. As we grow in our understanding of what God is doing for us, we see greater and greater spiritual possibilities. Compromises that we thought we had to make in the past, we realize we don’t have to make anymore.
