Thank you Michelle for this very helpful and important Lift. As the realization that we are the expression of God's being reveals itself to us we are free to live and demonstrate this spiritual fact. In reality, there cant be any resistance to us making this demonstration as God simply and completely IS.

Thanks so much, Michelle, for these insightful reflections on how we express Life in healthy activity, in power and momentum, in resistless being and doing. And that any appearance of resistance is not personal, but the general resistance to the fact that God is Life. But my favourite image is the "joyful groove", because to me that one word "groove" captures a sense of rhythm, energy, and flow: in fact, the joyful expression of Life!

Thank you Michelle for this wonderful lift to take us above the resistance of mortal thought to our progress in understanding our perfection.

When mortal thought would suggest that I blame myself for what seems to be a problem in matter I find it helpful to remember what Jesus told his disciples when they asked about who was responsible for the man's blindness:

John 9:3

Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Thanks also for the words telling me that I am not a work in progress. I am not a prototype waiting to be tested for design faults and redesigned. I am complete now.

If I am ever tempted momentarily to accept a mortal suggestion about myself which cannot possibly be true about God or His creation I remember part of what Zacchaeus promised Jesus:

Luke 19:8

and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

When I see these mortal suggestions as false accusations then my work is to restore my concept of the perfect man. Fourfold if necessary

When meeting material resistance to any forward progressing movement, are we seeing ourselves as a work in progress or as God's work already complete? Genesis 1:26, 27
Jesus saw this and said, " Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" Matt. 5:48
Any doubt or fear that tries to challenge that fact is not personal, is material resistance to the Christ. Turning thought to God as Life, the true source of perfect action, will help us move right through resistance to the joyful groove of powerful, resistless being and doing.

As we go through our day when we have an illusionary "difficult " moment we can ask ourselves "Am I Life,s full creation NOW?" and of course the correct answer is YES ,as Gods true reflection and that will srtaight away cheer us up!

A cuople of days ago ,early in the morning I had a plumbing drama in my flat ,the whole place flooding and a very loud alarm going off which I could not stop! I thought "Oh no! what a way to start the day.Is it going to be one of those days?" I immediately corrected my thought denying the material picture and knowing that the realone is only totally harmonius. it goes without sayiny sticking to that truth within a few hours every thing was cleared up fixed and back to normal. thus reflecting our life asLife perfect and harmonious NOW.

Thank you, Michelle. I have always fought resistance with a vengeance. I am grateful that I started to realize that resistance is nothing and therefore, meaningless to fight. As there is only one power God/Good, there is no need to fight a powerless illusion. If I fight this illusion, I only make it real in my experience which is exactly the opposite of what I want. Working with the understanding of non-resistance keeps my experience on the path of Truth rather than illusion. I, therefore, experience inner peace which results in outer peace.

Thank you very much for this Lift. There is so much in it. Resistance to God, good, would claim to be our very own personal sense of things and even persons in our experience. I am so grateful that through Christian Science we can learn that it is no such thing and can separate it from our own and our neighbour's true being. With nothing to identify itself with, it is nothing. Thank you to Diana #16 for pointing out so clearly that we do not need to fight the resistance we think we see in ourselves and more often in our neighbour because it is just meaninglessness. It is the first time I have understood the value of non-resistance.

Thank-you Michelle. So often it seems resistence is our own thinking, and your reminder that it is really impersonal is very important. All these thoughts in this direction are "tricks" that try to convice us we are are bad--maybe even not a good Christian. Seeing these wrong thoughts as lies about who we are as God's holy, perfect, creation is the way to unsee then as ultimately baseless and deserving nothing from our time and energy other than uttterly (and quickly!) rejecting them as having no power and no part of who we are as God's reflection. I like how Diana puts it (#16)--that we do not need to fight something that ultimately does not exist--and is powerless to influence us or to keep us away from God and expressing our innate Godly qulites of goodness and integrity. We can be really attentive to seeing quickly that any thoughts of resistence must be confronted as lies and dispensed with as so much garbage that we would leave at the curb!

What a wonderful way to start my day! Understanding that resistance is not personal. I must be perfect as my Father is perfect. I am the perfect expression of harmonious Life NOW. I do not need to accomplish anything to reach perfection. I am already there. Not a work in progress, nor a prototype to be tested... Wow, I loved each and every comment today. Powerful resistless being . . . .I love it . A lot of my friends study astrology as a science and also the influence that it has on our individual behavior. Recently we experienced a very powerful full moon and followed by a Mercury retrograde period. Many people complain about this unseen resistance to the forward momentum of life and talk about the communication breakdowns it causes in relationships and systems . According to Mary Baker Eddy and her study of Science and Health , God is all there is, . . .there is no resistance . . . and in that belief I am free of the outward appearance of any resistance my human mind may momentarily entertain. Thank you for shinning the light on our spiritual influence.

I was thinking that sometimes we hear that the reason we aren't moving forward in Life is because of "self-sabotage" - a psychological term meaning that a part of ourself is stopping ourself from having the good in our lives, due to feeling unworthy, etc. But in Christian Science, I've learned to ask myself, "Why would God/Good sabotage Herself?" Also, along with this idea, I love what Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health, p.90, l. 24: "The admission to one's self that man is God's own likeness sets man free to master the infinite idea." We're Masters, not Resisters! WooHoo! Off to Run!

I am reminded of a very favorite article “Hang up on ‘Uncle George’” by Bob Cochran From the July 25, 2011 issue of the Christian Science Sentinel. Wonderful article! In it, the author has pretty long friendly phone conversation with Uncle George during which he is trying to recall who Uncle George was and why his parents did not tell him about him, etc. Well, it turns out that he doesn’t really have an Uncle George and the call had been miss-directed to him.

When some difficulty comes to my thought or experience, I try to remember that this could be Uncle George calling. The conversation may sound plausible, even personal, but hey, I don’t have an Uncle George either.

Wow, what a wonderful topic. Thanks for the lift and the helpful comments. It sometimes seems like a fine line to challenge (as nothing) what isn't true and accept what God is knowing. I'm grateful for the example of Jesus who didn't fight the Truth. Mrs. Eddy writes that "It was the consummate naturalness of Truth in the mind of Jesus that made his healing easy and instantaneous." (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 200).

Thank you Malcolm for the words of Hymn 267. We see creative Mind, etc. that's all we can see--"never discord, strife". Strife or resistence can not be seen or experienced by us, the loving, perfect, healthly child of God. It can't get any better than that.

Before C/S came into my and my mothers life, I loved the bible stories read to me by my mother. My mother took me to many movies about the bible characters. This was when I was between the ages of 4-7 years old, and I noticed how empty the movie theater was that was showing these bible movies. I asked my mother why so empty and she answered; "Most people resist what the bible brings out." Even then, both being in another faith, my mother realized the human tendency to resist Truth. Of course C/ S explains this resistance to Truth and how to combat it. But it's interesting to note that some already have the ability to recognize this resistance just like my mother.

As I have been working to overcome depression, there seems to be so much resistance in my thought to the truth of my being, resistance to letting God's light and love in, resistance to any progressive and right activity. Wow! You’ve touched on some points that I’ve been deeply considering lately. Blaming myself only distracts me from accepting God as Life ... power, momentum, joy, and freedom. Blaming is not part of a scientifically Christian application of God’s laws. I need to be a “witness for the defense” of myself as God’s perfect child instead of a “witness for the prosecution.” The accuser/false witness within my own thought needs to be replaced by a true witness. Mrs. Eddy’s allegory has been most helpful (S&H 430).

Like many, I’ve mostly felt like a “work in progress.” I'm practicing to prove that the seeming movement "towards perfection" can be challenged by exploring, discovering, and applying the Truth of our being "out from perfection." Recently, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of “perfection” as completeness. I'm sure that’s why Jesus could behold the perfect man (S&H 476)! As God’s reflection, each of us is perfect/complete. God’s good creation is complete. Nothing can be added. Nothing can be subtracted. We each have and are all the qualities of God. Godlike qualities lived, are derivatives of the synonyms of God (S&H 587). If God is … then I am …

We live under and are God's irresistible laws.

This is a very important Lift! Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health on page 134:29-30 "There is divine authority for believing in the superiority of spiritual power over material resistance.". Your lift brings this out so beautifully! No matter what the so called "material resistance" is trying to call itself, lack, sin disease or whatever, we have divine authority with which to see errors unreality through the correct understanding of spiritual power, the power of God! Thank you so much for this! It "lifts" the false burden of mental imposition!

To #56 - yes I can relate to that feeling you describe of feeling resistance in thought to letting in God's Light and Love. When I feel that way, I just say out loud, "I know you are with me, God, and that you Love me, even if I can't seem to really Feel it right now!" I also do something called, "Fake it 'til you make it!" Even tho' inside I may be feeling a bit down or depressed, I still go out and smile and laugh with people and it helps to get my insides coordinated with my outsides! I believe even physical scientists discovered the resistanceless 'superconductivity' of energy they needed for artificial intelligence to be able to think like human beings. In other words, they were looking for a power conductor that ran as light alone rather than electricity with its resistance. Electricity can't be outrun. Voltage runs at the same speed as light, so the electrical circuit needs to be closed by flipping the switch so the light bulb emits light and chases away the darkness. 'Be still and know that I am God.' The Bible says. Man is not God. Man is not physical. Man is literally always the consciousness of all-knowing Mind ex-pressed, and that is all.

Nothing is ever personal, on any level, for any reason; this is why Jesus would rebuke with, when casting out an evil spirit, if it tried to speak to him and make it personal, "Hold thy peace, and come out of him!" Mrs Eddy says in S&H, “If the term personality, as applied to God, means infinite personality, then God is infinite Person..." God is infinite Person, and we are all the reflection of one Person, one God, good; therefore, this one Mind is the Thinker behind all activity, thoughts, and dialogue. It's only personal if its from God, and if it's from God then it's good, and if it's not good then it's impersonal, and we can reject it, and never be offended, or discouraged. Jesus said, "And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me."
