Indeed when we do get a glimpse of God, fear does disappear, and takes with it, doubts, diseases etc. and everything becomes possible including carrying out any task that we have to perform but which fear tells us is not possible.

The divine presence or influence which is the Christ which produces the fruit OF the Spirit is the "voice" of Spirit and definitely is supremely real than a placebo effect.

Gal 5:22 But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these. (GNB)

Recently I was talking with a friend with a poor connection to the internet, and a truck that was coming with her new kitchen and if it rained it would tear up her drive, and people were coming to stay, and - virtually - God really needed to get busy and do something about all this immanent chaos and disaster! So we talked about how much we just plain loved God. Why do we? Well, because He created love, for every one! Who else could have thought love into being? Sometimes it would seem people are still unaware of love and how much they are loved, but it's right there, right where the fear seems so blatant. Next morning the internet connection was in action, the rain held off and the truck with the kitchen arrived and work proceeded, and with a gentle nudge all was gratitude and reciprocal love. Thank you so much for this Lift, Elise. This friend and I have enjoyed other moments of epiphany, and no doubt we will again. And no sugar pills were necessary!

Elise, thanks so much for your timely Daily Lift. I appreciated the courage of the Harvard MD researcher to share his research and stir thought about placebos on 60 Minutes and I appreciated your response.

Your reminding us of Eddy's statement in Science and Health, "Sickness is more than fancy, it is solid conviction" and your statement about fear fading when you get a glimpse of God shows me how important it is to constantly keep the conviction of God's ever-presence in consciousness.

Thank you for the reminder that "When you get a glimpse of God, fear fades." And all it takes is a glimpse.

WOW, Elise, thank you so much for your thought! This is a struggle for a lot of people because the supposed evidence of the body, feelings, etc, appears to be so real. When someone says, "It's all in your mind," it is hard to digest it. However, when you understand that your conviction that you are sick, or depress is what needs to be replaced by a firm and strong conviction that you are God's child, perfect, complete, beautiful, and loved, then you find peace and healing! You expressed it beautifully!

Thanks for expressing your heart felt conviction--yes, a change of thought, and placement of conviction is what is needed. Thanks both to you and Rob Gilbert yesterday for giving us appropriate quotes from Science and Health--the truth that heals.

These two lifts on placebos remind me of a healing I heard on TV many years ago. The healing brings out how our thinking is so relevant. I was listening to a talk show and a rich and famous pianist and showman was being interviewed on the show. He said (and I believe I have remembered this correctly) that he had been in the hospital and the doctors said that he had a terminal illness.They gave him only so much time to live. You can imagine that given this verdict you would think about it a great deal. But what he let fill his thoughts was this. He decided to give everything he owned away to his friends! This filled his thoughts and he worked on who gets what everyday, giving stuff away as he went. He said this was most joyous. By the time he had finished.... he was healed!

Thank you so much, Elise! What an amazing Journey we are all on - right back to where we've always been! To get a glimpse of God, Divine Love, my thought or consciousness has to be transformed, healed, spiritualized. How? Thru prayer, humble surrending, contemplation of the Holy Bible and Science and Health. I was listening to an old CD of a C.S. Sentinel Radio Program where a well-seasoned C.S. Practitioner experienced a healing of a long-standing tumor by just getting a glimpse of the Allness of God. "...I am the Lord, and there is none else." Isaiah 45:6. Happy traveling everyone, with great glimpses of God!

This was bingo, right on the point. What did Jesus say, "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," and Martin Luther King who said, "If a man thinks that he is a grasshopper, then he is a grasshopper." Thank you.

Thank you for this lift. What comes to my thought is 1st John 4:18 :- "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment." Love is one of the names Christian Science gives to God. So we can always turn to God, divine Love, when we need help and healing, and let divine Love cast out the fear which tries to grab us. Divine Love is the medicine we need, not a pill of any kind, and is always with us to give us immediate relief.

Very recently I could see that in helping the son of a friend, who was alone at home, back from his doctor with a "diagnosis" - he just informed me about his "sickness".
I could see that he was overwhelmed by fear, - my only response was : All is well! - He thanked and mentioned he will inform me when he is feeling better. Next day he was feeling far better - days later his father told me that because his son was sleeping so long ( 16 hours ) - he became anxious - but trusted that this could be a good sign.
So, -if fear disappears healing is taking place.

You are so right on, Elise! Replacing matter based solutions with other matter based solutions does not solve problems at root of their cause. Accepting God, Spirit as the only cause and Creator frees us from these illusions.

I loved the "NO FEAR" t-shirts that came out when my children were young. They reminded me that fear is not real because it's not caused by God. Fear has no mention nor place in Genesis chapter one, and so is an utter falsity. It isn't created!
