Thank you John for this beautiful Lift. As we open our heart to God we begin to feel God's presence and power operating in our lives. In response to the question,"Do you believe in change of heart?" Mrs Eddy responded in part,"The human affections need to be changed from self to benevolence and love for God and man; changed to having but one God and loving Him supremely, and helping our brother man. This change of heart is essential to Christianity, and will have its effect physically as well as spiritually, healing disease." (Miscellaneous Writings, page 50-51) Turning our heart over to God reinforces our love for God and man.

I am staying up late to make a Valentine for my husband and I loved your message. I picked a quote from Mary Baker Eddy to use on my card - "Love never loses sight of loveliness. Its halo rests upon its object." (S&H page 248). Isn't that Lovely?

Many thanks John for reminding us of the various meanings and uses of the word heart that appears in The Holy Bible (KJV) 765 times. Yes. "Happy the man whose heart can rest,/ Assured God's goodness ne'er will cease;/ Each day, complete, with joy is blessed,/ God [divine Love] keepeth him in perfect peace." (Christian Science Hymnal #93).

Of course we want to be loved and understood! To me, man came up with the heart shape to compensate for our vulnerability, our need for affection.
Little kids love the heart shape as much as a circle or a square, they can easily identify with love.
Reminding the children more often about the love that God has for them might even help heal the world of hate and rancour.
This Valentines Day, is a good opportunity to open our heart and feel God's tender presence, it's really the only Love constant in our life.

How does one know what is "nearest and dearest" to one's heart. At the aviation museum for early era aircraft, where antique airplane pilots take off and land on grass and only in good daylight visibility without instruments, sometimes a pilot will repeat the observation, "It's not the landing strip behind you that matters, but the landing strip in front of you that matters." Because the only remaining ground is covered with trees. Not a good place to end up a bi-plane.
Mrs. Eddy tells us, "It is of comparatively little importance what a man thinks or believes he knows; the good that a man does is the one thing needful and the sole proof of rightness." (The First Church of Christ Scientist and Miscellany. pages 271-273.)

That's the best Valentine's card I've ever received, John. It was heartfelt and warm and very very loving. Thank you very much. I really appreciated your Lift. My friends are always surprised and delighted when they receive their Valentine's Day cards. One year I gave one to everyone at church. That Valentine's Day was on a Sunday. Years ago they were handmade and colourful, but today the email delivered early morning joy, and mostly a good dose of mirth. Those who live in the Northern Hemisphere receive theirs a day early, but no one complains.
Happy Valentine's Day Nate and the production team; our wonderful BoL and lecturers who always turn up trumps; and all our amazing Lift family. Happy Valentine's Day and love from Margaret xx

Thank you, John, for “Give your heart to God … value a loved One … ‘God is Love’ … He loves you dearly.” Great reminder! There were times when I came to such words in tears. Then, I began to better understand and companion with these angel messages. Transient human love seems so fragile; whereas constant Divine love is, well – constant!
Mrs. Eddy wrote, “I make strong demands on love, call for active witnesses to prove it, and noble sacrifices and grand achievements as its results. Unless these appear, I cast aside the word as a sham and counterfeit, having no ring of the true metal. Love cannot be a mere abstraction, or goodness without activity and power” (Mis 250). And my mom used to say, "Love is the most powerful force on earth." Then she'd add with a smile, "... no!… in the universe!"
It’s been easy to give my heart to God, as I’ve recognized that “my heart” is God. I find that when I let Divine love lead me, my Love life is intact. Yielding to Divine love has helped me to be more loving in my human relationships. So, inspired by your Lift, today, I’m going to pay very close attention to really focus on putting into practice the answer to, “Lord, what is the most loving thing I can think, say, and do?” I don’t want to miss even one opportunity to celebrate Love by sharing it sincerely!
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Remember, we're always in Love. :-)

Thanks so much, John, for the love expressed in your voice and the message. The first hymn that came to mind this morning was #139, " I walk with Love along the way, And O, it is a holy day: No more I suffer cruel fear, I feel God's presence with me here; The joy that none can take away Is mine; I walk with Love today."
Dear fellow lifters may your hearts be filled with "joy that none can take away." Happy Valentines Day to all!!!

I knew I shouldn't have listened to this lift this morning! I was all set to just wallow in self pity feeling
sorry for myself with memories past but, having listened to you, I see that I'm not off the hook and have work to do if I'm to give all my heart to God, who will "feed those famished affections" (which all those cookies I've been eating have failed to do!).
"Is the heart a living power? Self-entwined its strength sinks low; It can only live in loving, and, by serving, love will grow." C.S. Hymnal 360
Thanks, I think! Ha.

On this day of love, I am thinking of a comforting hymn:
Love knows no evil, neither shade of sadness;
Love casts out every fear, lifts the heart to gladness.
Love heals our every ill,
All the law does love fulfill.
Love is our answered prayer.
Christian Science Hymnal, # 179
And there is Mrs. Eddy's wise counsel: What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds. (Science and Health, pg. 4) Today and every day, let me express more love.
Thank you, John. Thank you, dear Mother Church, for this beautiful blessing.

Last night I made a home made Valentine's card, with the help of a free on line card website, for my wife, having not made the time to buy one. It made me feel good to make it and include my own sentiments. This lift reminds me of the first Valentine's day in grade school when we made and exchanged cards with our classmates. I just heard about the idea of making Valentine's day into Generosity Day-- give in some way to everyone you encounter, from a person on the street to a tired child to a demanding boss to the person who serves you at the grocery or restaurant. Turn the day from longing to blessing. Jesus said that God gives freely to all without regard to whether they "deserve" it, just as the sun shines or the plum tree blooms equally for all. What a great way to celebrate this day-- and perhaps every day.

Romantic love is intense and interesting! But (in my experience, anyway) it tends to pull us a little off-balance and away from our other loves, which all together make quite a lush garden!
For now, I'm just enjoying the many other kinds of love: love for brothers and sisters, love for neighbors, love for colleagues, love of a certain piece of music, love for the people who package and mail and deliver whatever we order, love for all of you Lifters, love for CS practitioners around the world, love for honest business owners, love for people in prison or newly out of prison, love for young people just finding their way, love for the so-called aged who keep encouraging and supporting others, love of honesty and Truth...this list is long enough, but I really could keep going (and so can you)!
Today, I'll see how Love is loving me back!

Couldn't we view "VALENTINES DAY" as a celebration of the true HEART that God gives us. Instead of Candy, Cards or a nice meal at a high class restaurant, let's make this day, a day of Love being expressed multiplying every day as a heart giving love affair with God's finest creation, MAN! The true way of making love is seeing man in God's image and likeness.

Loved your message, John, but the way you delivered that last line: He loves you dearly, with the emphasis on the last word, really touched my heart! I remember reading recently that the gospels are a love letter from God....herein lies the route to true love, Jesus leading the way, receiving his words and actions straight from his Father-Mother Love! I am grateful God brought my wife and me together, so that we might support each other in our individual relationships w our Maker. After all, we are both His children. We are all brethren after this manner, and so I love all of us! May we all come to know the Love of our divine Parent for all of us and for each and every one of us. And may we all come to know the sibling love we have for each other, husbands and wives included, because that is the amplification of our divine Parent's Love for us, and it is what Jesus came to convey to us as sent by our Parent. We are NEVER alone. Only material sense would box us in. I am EXTREMELY grateful for this learned lesson!

I LOVE God, but to give my heart to God also means to me to bear my deepest thoughts to God, every moment of every day and night. Alway-- all space, all time, all in all. Thank you, JQ, for bringing to light, the heart of LOVE for God-- we ARE His/Her precious children! --Rob of the Rockies

- 2/22/2013
Dear Rachel #111..
Many know what you're going thru. A first love is very precious. But, there is another love that was even before him. Speaking of God, the Bible reminds us "We love him because he first loved us." God's love for you is eternal. It is constant. It embraces all under every circumstance. If you'd like, you can go to Christian Science.com and find the directory to Christian Science practitioners who will be happy to talk with you and share God's love with you.

- 2/14/2013Thank you John for this beautiful Lift.

- 2/14/2013Many thanks John for reminding us of the various meanings and uses of the word heart that appears in The Holy Bible (KJV) 765 times. Yes. "Happy the man whose heart can rest,/ Assured God's goodness ne'er will cease;/ Each day, complete, with joy is blessed,/ God [divine Love] keepeth him in perfect peace." (Christian Science Hymnal #93).

- 2/14/2013Of course we want to be loved and understood!

- 2/14/2013How does one know what is "nearest and dearest" to one's heart.

- 2/14/2013That's the best Valentine's card I've ever received, John.

- 2/14/2013Thank you, John, for “Give your heart to God … value a loved One … ‘God is Love’ … He loves you dearly.” Great reminder!

- 2/14/2013Thanks so much, John, for the love expressed in your voice and the message.

- 2/14/2013On this day of love, I am thinking of a comforting hymn:
Love knows no evil, neither shade of sadness;

- 2/14/2013I just heard about the idea of making Valentine's day into Generosity Day-- give in some way to everyone you encounter, from a person on the street to a tired child to a demanding boss to the person who serves you at the grocery or restaurant. Turn the day from longing to blessing. Jesus said that God gives freely to all without regard to whether they "deserve" it, just as the sun shines or the plum tree blooms equally for all. What a great way to celebrate this day-- and perhaps every day.

- 2/14/2013Romantic love is intense and interesting!

- 2/14/2013Couldn't we view "VALENTINES DAY" as a celebration of the true HEART that God gives us. Instead of Candy, Cards or a nice meal at a high class restaurant, let's make this day, a day of Love being expressed multiplying every day as a heart giving love affair with God's finest creation, MAN! The true way of making love is seeing man in God's image and likeness.

- 2/14/2013I am grateful God brought my wife and me together, so that we might support each other in our individual relationships w our Maker.

I shared this with a young friend of another faith who is very spiritual and this is her reply:
"I loved it! The world makes us feel that if we aren't receiving boxes of candy or teddy bears on Valentine's Day then we aren't as special or loved. But these are material things. God is the only one who can truly fulfill our hearts! God IS love. This daily lift was perfect!"
Your lift was also delivered in such a warm, loving tone...thank you!

- 2/19/2013Give your heart to God-- wow! Wonder of Wonders! It never ocurred to me to do just that.

- 2/22/2013Dear Rachel #111..
