- 2/13/2012this is an answer to prayer for me today just as there was a whole lot og doubt and underlying anxiety about the possible outcome of a business meeting that will take place this morning and now I am so sure of the outcome because I know there are no tigers waiting to devour me today and every other day in business and in my daily life I am so very grateful
Deborah in the Isle of Man
- 2/13/2012Thank you for the Healing message in this touching story
Elena Shideler, California (San Diego)
- 2/13/2012As an innocent toddler fearfully hopes there were no tigers in his yard, as adults we might wish there are no obstacles to our progress.
But, if God is Good -and we are His children, wouldn’t this mean that those obstacles have no scientific basis, that are created by our own fear of them? “As frightened children look everywhere for the imaginary ghost, so sick humanity sees danger in every direction, and looks for relief in all ways except the right one“ S&H 371:11

- 2/13/2012Thank you very much for this lovely and simple thought of truth to protect us. We need this every moment and God gives it to us every step we go forward because He is with us.
Malcolm Drummond, Henrietta NY
- 2/13/2012Many thanks Maryl for that very cute childlike video lift. Yes. "God's loving kindness delivers us from all our fears." "Let childlike trust be yours today;" "By thy trustful, calm endeavor,/ Guiding, cheering, like the sun,/ Earth-bound hearts thou shalt deliver;/ O, for their sake, press thou on." (Christian Science Hymnal #139 & #265)

- 2/13/2012Thank you Maryl, I find your Lifts so inspiring, often taken from life experiences and showing how divine Love's ever presence has given you the correct view.
Our adopted little cat runs in fear at the sound of heavy footfall. With a house full of men it is hard for her not to be in some sort of trepidation. Frank #2 caused me to realise the "oh! my" scenario doesn't have to be part of her daily round any more than tigers for us.
I am so grateful to all Lifters and Liftees and the BoL for this wonderful blessing each morning.
Margaret Sunshine Coast Australia
- 2/13/2012Thank you Maryl, for this wonderful demonstration over fear. Recently I was booked to fly to a big city a long way away. Everywhere where I live is fairly small, but the city I was flying to is massive. The wonderful part was that I was so busy praying that divine Principle maintains and sustains every spiritual idea with perfection, precision and punctuality, there could be no suggestions of delays of departure, obstructions or cancellations. My friends and I had been praying on these lines for some time before the actual date, and while waiting for the plane to land I just knew God would be directing the air traffic that day and every day. Sure enough my plane left exactly on time, and so did the plane my friends flew in from a different airport, so we all arrived at our destination on cue, and without rush and very calmly the transition to our car, and the drive to our accommodation was undertaken in the most quietly harmonious manner. And not only, but the return flights were just as well-ordered, and our arrivals were exactly on time.
Thank you Nate for the most recent update with no audio bar; to the production crew; and the BoL, the lecturers and the Lift family in unity and harmony.

- 2/13/2012This is just delightful - both the lovely animated pictures and the story with its strong message of nothing tto fear. Thank you so much, Maryl!

- 2/13/2012Very sweet DL, very sweet video, very sweet hymns Malcolm chose (I especially love "Let childlike trust be yours today"), and very sweet thoughts by commenters. #10 By yon bonnie banks, I'm so glad to learn that #2 Frank's post has given you the incentive to see that your adopted kitty needn't be afraid of the heavy treading sounds coming from God's loving children. And she need not remember any untoward "past" involving noisy footsteps or a certain gender.... God's dear love for her wipes away those tears and fears.
How cute that the illustrator chose to clothe your grandson in a tiger-striped shirt, Maryl! I'm sure in his stage of life now, he understands that tigers and bears and lions and all other divine ideas called creatures are, in truth, filled with lovely, intelligent, spiritual qualities, and have not a single bestial trait, any more than God's man does. :-)
Mas
- 2/13/2012Thank you.

- 2/13/2012I can add nothing to # 12's response, apart from my own grateful thanks.

Muchas gracias Maryl por el mensaje, thank you so much

- 2/13/2012What a delightful message to find today, Thank you Maryl (loved the artwork!) Earlier I was assuring some-one very dear to me to avoid dark thoughts and look to the light...how easily folk can slip into a state of fear and worry; forgetting who they really are!

- 2/13/2012"Three Steps and a Bounce is a way that I pray,
a way I get quiet so I hear what God would say,
a way I shut the door on anything not good,
a way I tell God thank you, --- T h a n k y o u ...
just like Jesus would.
First step: No fear.
Second step: No error.
Third step: Love God.
4th step: Jump for joy !!!" (This song sung by a young child.)
Recently I gave this wonderful children's CD as a new baby gift. The family loves it so much that the dad sings the songs in the shower. The parents keep the CD in the car and turn it on whenever the baby fusses and she quiets down instantly when she hears this first song. You can find this CD, "Three Steps and a Bounce", (or order it) in the Christian Science Reading Room. As I've mentioned before, it is my baby gift of choice now. I play it in my car, too. My favorite song on this CD is "Ten Ways to Be Happy" ---- a most excellent way to teach the 10 Commandments ( and Golden Rule) to children (and adults!) in a way that makes sense to them (us) and will no doubt guide them (as it does me ) throughout their lifetime. A powerful lesson, this, in it's childlike simplicity. I plan on playing Meryl's game with my grandchildren and sing these songs as we stroll along. They are so joyful !!! The thought of hidden tigers evaporates as the dew in the presence of Christly truth and joy, to paraphrase Mrs. Eddy.
Fear not --- be happy, everyone! XXOO

- 2/13/2012I don’t know about tigers, but I certainly know about garbage cans.
Riding a timid horse along a road on garbage day, the day when garbage cans are placed quite unnaturally along the roadside, can create some exciting riding opportunities. In order to ride past these ghastly “tigers”, one must be calm and provide strong assurance to the horse who is contemplating bolting away. How important to effectively show them “there is absolutely nothing here, do not even look, it is nothing to us, let’s go on.” Compassion with strong assurance moves them past these urban tigers.
Same for us…
“Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not.” S&H 495:15
Great clip! and great topic. Thank you Maryl.

- 2/13/2012This is a good way to approach our daily prayer "to watch and pray to be delivered from all evil..." (Church Manual page 40:11) There are no tigers, no evil, no erroneous influence down our garden paths. Thanks, Maryl, for this simple, yet effective, prayer.

- 2/13/2012Thank you, Maryl! Very simple and darling illustration of the power of Love overcoming Fear! The Head sees with Fear, the Heart sees with Love! FEAR can stand for: "False Evidence Appearing Real". Fear is an illusion of the so-called mortal mind - trying to keep us imprisoned. Knowing the Truth and Feeling the Love sets us Free! Whee!

- 2/13/2012Thank you. I have love for children and their innocence. I especially relate to the graphic and so the message sinks deeper. I have been afraid to respond to a relatives phone messages. He has not been in my life much since early tumultuous years. Knowing God is Real and my fears are not, I was able to phone him and let him know he is important to me. Thanks to all you "daily lifters", I can move forward with my life.

Cristy

- 2/13/2012That was so precious and the video adds to the message so vividly. If little children did the artwork, that is grand! But, most of all, it shows so clearly it's not so much about the words as it is about the sincerity and depth of reaching out in our hearts that brings to our experience the presence of Love's safe protective care. How reassurance we give to others as they walk along the journey in whoms path we might grace helps lift others and oneself in waking up to joy. Thanks Maryl for this sweet touch.

They loved it It fit in perfectly with the already planned lesson on the second Beatitude...."Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted." They loved that there are no tigers in Grenada, too. Thank you so much for this simple message.

Lori in Wisconsin
- 2/13/2012I am in Germany right now and couldn't see the video until just recently but the comments have been wonderful and have given me a sense of what to expect. It really helped me today as I prepared for my day at a Trade show. I am in a new career path and it seems there could be tigers in my path. Reading these comments on my walk to the show was very inspiring and I had a wonderful growing day with lots of great opportunities presenting themselves at the show.
Now that I was able to see the video and hear the audio, it is even more precious than what I got out of the comments. Something especially touching to me was the bubble around your grandson depicting the protection. When I was a child and very afraid of the dark, I told myself that I was wrapped in a bubble of God's love and nothing could touch me. I always fell asleep peacefully then and, of course, woke up safe and sound. I now tell my children this same story to help them go to sleep. I loved that wonderful reminder of our constant safety.
Thank you so much!

I, too, can remember my mother searching in my closet, with a flashlight, for a wolf which I was sure had been looking at me with yellow eyes when the lights went out. - 2/13/2012Thanks Maryl. Your message of protection and safety for children is great. I want to spare a thought for all tigers, lions, etc. We learn in Christian Science that God created the universe full of beautiful creatures that are harmless, lovely and good. I like holding all animals in my prayers as part of my daily work of acknowledgment of a perfect God and a perfect universe, including man and animals.
En español
Gracias Maryl.

- 2/14/2012What a pure and healing thought! Growing up with my brothers and sisters we would walk seven blocks to our Christian Science Sunday School and play the "gratitude game". - 2/24/2012I've hesitated before sending this comment, and trust that it will not be misunderstood. First Maryl, thank you so very much for "No tigers", and your lovely little grandson, and the other lifters too, for their sharing of spiritual ideas in overcoming fear of tigers, in whatever form, and what many people actually associate with what they represent. I'm sure if faced with one, I'd feel just the same !
However as I read and thought about " No Tigers", maybe a word might be said about tigers in connection, with the upbringing of our little ones, and how that they need to know too, that tigers need our appreciation and love for what they really represent.( Please see #14) And when more grown up, to be aware that tigers need protection also.. Again thank you.
On a lighter note, I was reminded of AA Milne's portrayal of a tiger as "Tigger", in "The House at Pooh Corner. "
