2/13: No tigers

2/13: No tigers

Hi all, we've been having some technical difficulties posting the audio version of today's Lift.

But, you can always call our Daily Lift phone # to hear the Lift: 617-450-3430. Add it to your contacts!

  1. Sweet and true!

  2. Nor lions, nor bears. Thank you for the reminder.

  3. What a lovely, lovely message! Thank you for the beautiful artwork, too! Thank you to you both: Maryl and your grandson!

  4. this is an answer to prayer for me today just as there was a whole lot og doubt and underlying anxiety about the possible outcome of a business meeting that will take place this morning and now I am so sure of the outcome because I know there are no tigers waiting to devour me today and every other day in business and in my daily life I am so very grateful

  5. Thank you for the Healing message in this touching story

  6. As an innocent toddler fearfully hopes there were no tigers in his yard, as adults we might wish there are no obstacles to our progress.
But, if God is Good -and we are His children, wouldn’t this mean that those obstacles have no scientific basis, that are created by our own fear of them? “As frightened children look everywhere for the imaginary ghost, so sick humanity sees danger in every direction, and looks for relief in all ways except the right one“ S&H 371:11

  7. Thanks Maryl for that simple truth! Great job DL team on the animation....very cute! What a great way to start the week!

  8. Thank you very much for this lovely and simple thought of truth to protect us. We need this every moment and God gives it to us every step we go forward because He is with us.

  9. Many thanks Maryl for that very cute childlike video lift. Yes. "God's loving kindness delivers us from all our fears." "Let childlike trust be yours today;" "By thy trustful, calm endeavor,/ Guiding, cheering, like the sun,/ Earth-bound hearts thou shalt deliver;/ O, for their sake, press thou on." (Christian Science Hymnal #139 & #265)

  10. Thank you Maryl, I find your Lifts so inspiring, often taken from life experiences and showing how divine Love's ever presence has given you the correct view.
Our adopted little cat runs in fear at the sound of heavy footfall. With a house full of men it is hard for her not to be in some sort of trepidation. Frank #2 caused me to realise the "oh! my" scenario doesn't have to be part of her daily round any more than tigers for us.
I am so grateful to all Lifters and Liftees and the BoL for this wonderful blessing each morning.

  11. Thank you Maryl, for this wonderful demonstration over fear. Recently I was booked to fly to a big city a long way away. Everywhere where I live is fairly small, but the city I was flying to is massive. The wonderful part was that I was so busy praying that divine Principle maintains and sustains every spiritual idea with perfection, precision and punctuality, there could be no suggestions of delays of departure, obstructions or cancellations. My friends and I had been praying on these lines for some time before the actual date, and while waiting for the plane to land I just knew God would be directing the air traffic that day and every day. Sure enough my plane left exactly on time, and so did the plane my friends flew in from a different airport, so we all arrived at our destination on cue, and without rush and very calmly the transition to our car, and the drive to our accommodation was undertaken in the most quietly harmonious manner. And not only, but the return flights were just as well-ordered, and our arrivals were exactly on time.
Thank you Nate for the most recent update with no audio bar; to the production crew; and the BoL, the lecturers and the Lift family in unity and harmony.

  12. This is just delightful - both the lovely animated pictures and the story with its strong message of nothing tto fear. Thank you so much, Maryl!

  13. Love this!
    Thanks, DL team.

  14. Very sweet DL, very sweet video, very sweet hymns Malcolm chose (I especially love "Let childlike trust be yours today"), and very sweet thoughts by commenters. #10 By yon bonnie banks, I'm so glad to learn that #2 Frank's post has given you the incentive to see that your adopted kitty needn't be afraid of the heavy treading sounds coming from God's loving children. And she need not remember any untoward "past" involving noisy footsteps or a certain gender.... God's dear love for her wipes away those tears and fears.

How cute that the illustrator chose to clothe your grandson in a tiger-striped shirt, Maryl! I'm sure in his stage of life now, he understands that tigers and bears and lions and all other divine ideas called creatures are, in truth, filled with lovely, intelligent, spiritual qualities, and have not a single bestial trait, any more than God's man does. :-)

  15. Thank you.

  16. I can add nothing to # 12's response, apart from my own grateful thanks.

Muchas gracias Maryl por el mensaje, thank you so much

  18. Thank you for the beautiful and timely reminder for me.

  19. What a delightful message to find today, Thank you Maryl (loved the artwork!) Earlier I was assuring some-one very dear to me to avoid dark thoughts and look to the light...how easily folk can slip into a state of fear and worry; forgetting who they really are!

  20. Lions and tigers and bears - deny!

  21. Thank you for that great Lift and a wonderful way to start our week.

  22. "Three Steps and a Bounce is a way that I pray,
a way I get quiet so I hear what God would say,
a way I shut the door on anything not good,
    a way I tell God thank you, --- T h a n k y o u ...
    just like Jesus would.
    First step: No fear.
    Second step: No error.
    Third step: Love God.
4th step: Jump for joy !!!" (This song sung by a young child.)
Recently I gave this wonderful children's CD as a new baby gift. The family loves it so much that the dad sings the songs in the shower. The parents keep the CD in the car and turn it on whenever the baby fusses and she quiets down instantly when she hears this first song. You can find this CD, "Three Steps and a Bounce", (or order it) in the Christian Science Reading Room. As I've mentioned before, it is my baby gift of choice now. I play it in my car, too. My favorite song on this CD is "Ten Ways to Be Happy" ---- a most excellent way to teach the 10 Commandments ( and Golden Rule) to children (and adults!) in a way that makes sense to them (us) and will no doubt guide them (as it does me ) throughout their lifetime. A powerful lesson, this, in it's childlike simplicity. I plan on playing Meryl's game with my grandchildren and sing these songs as we stroll along. They are so joyful !!! The thought of hidden tigers evaporates as the dew in the presence of Christly truth and joy, to paraphrase Mrs. Eddy.
Fear not --- be happy, everyone! XXOO

  23. Love it!! Illustration, music and your sweet voice!! - May this Lift reach as many people and more over comfort them and erase the illusions of harm all together!! BIG THANK YOU!!!

  24. Yes - a real help to me and anyone whatever their walk of life. We need to keep it simple, childlike!

  25. Thank you for such a joyful Lift!!!!!

  26. Absolutely beautiful Maryl!!! Thank you so much for your lift and the lovely video!!

  27. thank you Maryl.

  28. Just the inspiration I needed this morning. Thanks so much! I loved the video and the message.

  29. Thank you Mary! The other Lifters have said it well. I would only add that the "Tiger-free Zone" made me chuckle.

  30. I don’t know about tigers, but I certainly know about garbage cans.

Riding a timid horse along a road on garbage day, the day when garbage cans are placed quite unnaturally along the roadside, can create some exciting riding opportunities. In order to ride past these ghastly “tigers”, one must be calm and provide strong assurance to the horse who is contemplating bolting away. How important to effectively show them “there is absolutely nothing here, do not even look, it is nothing to us, let’s go on.” Compassion with strong assurance moves them past these urban tigers.

    Same for us…

“Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not.” S&H 495:15

Great clip! and great topic. Thank you Maryl.

  31. Thank you, Maryl, I just love this lift!

  32. Refreshing. A simple message of truth. Very healing.

  33. Thank you! I feel extra-blessed as one having attended your talk "Prayer: A Powerful Resource For A Healthy Environment" in Grosse Pointe, MI yesterday and then having this Lift the very next morning! Maryl, thanks for all you do!

  34. I always enjoy the messages accompanied with a video and this one is oh so darling. Thank you Maryl for sharing this endearing daily lift. Much love

  35. this is so precious. thanks.

  36. Needed this today! Thank You! :-)

  37. This is a good way to approach our daily prayer "to watch and pray to be delivered from all evil..." (Church Manual page 40:11) There are no tigers, no evil, no erroneous influence down our garden paths. Thanks, Maryl, for this simple, yet effective, prayer.

  38. I know this is wonderful, but our Internet service isn't strong enough to get the video lifts. Regrets!

    MODERATOR'S NOTE:
Audio only will be posted shortly.

  39. Thank you, Maryl! Very simple and darling illustration of the power of Love overcoming Fear! The Head sees with Fear, the Heart sees with Love! FEAR can stand for: "False Evidence Appearing Real". Fear is an illusion of the so-called mortal mind - trying to keep us imprisoned. Knowing the Truth and Feeling the Love sets us Free! Whee!

  40. Nice way to start the day! Thanks so much.

  41. jr. 2/13/2012 Don't panic just fear God and live without arrogance!

  42. Thank you.

  43. Thank you so much! Like Mrs. Eddy says, in hymn 160: "False fears are foes — truth tatters those,
    When understood."

  44. Thank you for your delightful and childlike presentation and most insightful thought!

  45. Thank you, Maryl, for this precious little reminder of God's forever caring love and protection.

  46. Powerfully sweet, Maryl. Thank you.

    Don

  47. What a powerful prayer that little boy was praying.
That's a good one for anyone!
    THANK YOU MARYL

  48. Loved it! I think we all need to hear there are no tigers on a regular basis:)

  49. What a joy to read everyone's messages and experience this gracious and grateful world-wide community. Blessings abound!

  50. I loved this. So sweet & true. The drawings did a great job of illustrating the fact.

  51. What a great reminder! Thanks Maryl.

  52. Thank you! Sweet reminder, Maryl!

  53. BEEEE-autiful in every way.Thank you

  54. Thanks for that wonderful reminder that false fears are just that. . .false! Those scary, nervous, fearful feelings of insecurity are false false false. There is no power--nothing but God, good. Thank you!

  55. Thanks Maryl that was just great! Loved the video, too.
    Judith from Reno

  56. Two-word prayers are so helpful. Have been enjoying "No Tigers" as I've been getting ready for the day.
Thanks to the lifters and the commenters.

  57. I had this daily lift playing on the computer when an upset child walked into the room....he immediately was attracted to watching it! the animation and message completely changed the emotional moment....thank you for the uplift....it definitely worked for both of us!

  58. Precious, powerful and profound!

    Thank you.

  59. You have no idea just how helpful and timely the message of this Lift is for me and mine. Thank you for sharing it with us, and thanks to your grandson, too, for being such a wonderful little metaphysician! Childlike trust is certainly a lesson for us all -- big and small!

  60. Thank you. I have love for children and their innocence. I especially relate to the graphic and so the message sinks deeper. I have been afraid to respond to a relatives phone messages. He has not been in my life much since early tumultuous years. Knowing God is Real and my fears are not, I was able to phone him and let him know he is important to me. Thanks to all you "daily lifters", I can move forward with my life.

  61. It is like a "breath of fresh air". Thanks!

  62. Lots of good wisdom in this sweet story. Thank you.

  63. Thank you Maryl,
    No tigers 'all is well'

  64. I truly loved this lift- so simple but sooo apt for adults and children alike

  65. Oh, Maryl, I absolutely loved your message and the beautiful illustrations of you and Timmy! That was just wonderful, and the message comes with all the truth in the universe!

    Thank you soooooo much.

  66. thanks for the lift! God's message comes so sweetly and joyfully.

  67. What great inspiration for my drive today. I loved the child-like simplicity of this message. I am putting my trust in God this morning and banishing all tigers! Thank you Maryl!!

  68. Thanks ! Loved it - It is cute and inspiring!!

  69. What a happy reminders, thanks the
video is ADORABLE & a perfect
illustration of GODS LOVE expressed always!

  70. Thank you, Meryl, for this sweet and "full of confidence" lift today!

Cristy

  72. That was so precious and the video adds to the message so vividly. If little children did the artwork, that is grand! But, most of all, it shows so clearly it's not so much about the words as it is about the sincerity and depth of reaching out in our hearts that brings to our experience the presence of Love's safe protective care. How reassurance we give to others as they walk along the journey in whoms path we might grace helps lift others and oneself in waking up to joy. Thanks Maryl for this sweet touch.

  73. Brilliant and Precious and Comforting

  74. Precious illustration of trust in God's goodness and learning to expect His protection.
    Many thanks!

  75. Absolutely precious and adorable message. Thank you so much. What a way to start the day and week!

  76. Thank you for the wonderful lift!

  77. Ah . . . no tigers. How simple. How true. Thank you.

  78. Maryl, this is just wonderful! Thanks too, to the artist(s) who did the video----priceless and good for the kids! Thanks also to No. 22 for the CD info. -- Love to ALL!!

  79. Since God is All, what else can exist?

This morning I felt bogged down with rumination over an adverse outcome and fearful planning. This is a breath of fresh thinking! Thank you, just what I needed and I want to stay right here.

  80. Loved the video message. And thanks to each additional comment, especially #14 reminding me that all are divine ideas in realilty, which is right here!

Had a close encounter with a poisonous snake, but it didn'n harm him or me.

  81. Thank you so much, Maryl. I love this audio/visual reminder that we don't have to be afraid of imagined evils. Yeah!

  82. Thank you the terrific lift, or for me today more like a Hoist.
Very timely and helpful right now.

    with much love, and gratitude,

    UJ

  83. Thanks so much Meryl and the lift team. No Tigers is a potent prayer for the world which is in great need right now!

  84. Thank you for this clear, strong message and to all Lifters for their helpful responses emphasising the nothingness of fear of any kind. There is nothing 'out there' which is going to 'get us', just God, Divine Love, here loving us.

  85. A Good Monday Morning thank you Maryl. Thanks to the DL team for the graphics. Thanks to everyone for sharing. Each of your comments is a blessing as well. Thanks Kathleen 60 and Malcolm, #9,for the hymns. I delight in seeing which hymns you select. And You on the bonnie banks with your kitty, #10. Thanks. I too have been embracing my cat know she, as all God's creation, are fearless and undisturbed. No tigers. Thanks.

  86. Oh, this is just great. Thank you! What a loving delivery of God's message!!!

  87. Absolutely delightful!

  88. Can't say more than has already been said, but thank you, thank you, thank you...again for the dear, precious, powerful Lift, Maryl!

  89. Thanks Maryl!
A wonderful reminder to recognize others' prayers of protection even when they don't sound exactly like a Christian Science treatment.
I'm not going to let Tim live this one down ;)
Beautiful job with the artwork Daily Lift team!

  90. This is such a sweet, wonderful and joyous Lift -- THANKS MUCH! We are all in a "tiger-free" zone today and always...

  91. Showed this precious video to all the students at our primary school, K-6 as part of their religious education classes in Grenada today. They loved it It fit in perfectly with the already planned lesson on the second Beatitude...."Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted." They loved that there are no tigers in Grenada, too. Thank you so much for this simple message.
    Helane in Grenada

  92. Thank you so much for this! This is exactly the lift I needed! :)

  93. I am in Germany right now and couldn't see the video until just recently but the comments have been wonderful and have given me a sense of what to expect. It really helped me today as I prepared for my day at a Trade show. I am in a new career path and it seems there could be tigers in my path. Reading these comments on my walk to the show was very inspiring and I had a wonderful growing day with lots of great opportunities presenting themselves at the show.

Now that I was able to see the video and hear the audio, it is even more precious than what I got out of the comments. Something especially touching to me was the bubble around your grandson depicting the protection. When I was a child and very afraid of the dark, I told myself that I was wrapped in a bubble of God's love and nothing could touch me. I always fell asleep peacefully then and, of course, woke up safe and sound. I now tell my children this same story to help them go to sleep. I loved that wonderful reminder of our constant safety.

    Thank you so much!

  94. What a precious lift for today! I, too, can remember my mother searching in my closet, with a flashlight, for a wolf which I was sure had been looking at me with yellow eyes when the lights went out. These lessons are so wonderful as analogies, in later years, and I thank you so much for the reminder!

  95. Thank you. The illustrations are delightful!

  96. Thanks Maryl. Your message of protection and safety for children is great. I want to spare a thought for all tigers, lions, etc. We learn in Christian Science that God created the universe full of beautiful creatures that are harmless, lovely and good. I like holding all animals in my prayers as part of my daily work of acknowledgment of a perfect God and a perfect universe, including man and animals.

    En español

Gracias Maryl.

  97. It's 8:30PM here in Florida and I couldn't get the video to "show"....but enjoyed calling the phone number and "hearing" it!! The many comments and thoughts shared were SO helpful, too! Loved that #91, (Helane from Grenada) shared this with her students in her religion class....how great!

  98. Guess what?! I tried "playing" the video again (@ 8:34PM) and IT WORKED!! I WAS SO PLEASED!!

  99. Thanks, Maryl. So true and so sweet. Thanks also for comments #14, #20 and # 60 for the good reminders.

  100. Maryl, I loved today's Daily Lift, and I thank you very much for your precious message, so well delivered.

  101. Thank you, Maryl! Good message.

  102. Now that was cute, sweet, and very reassuring- thanks a lot!

  103. We don't want to endanger the tigers....to the point of extinction
but love them as harmless expressions of God-given distinction.

  104. Thanks Maryl for your creative illustration and message! No tigers, no evil...."All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation."MBE. Hurrah!

  105. A simple prayer comes to me after watching this video. "There is no fear; God is here."

  106. What a great Lift .
    Thanks

  107. Thanks, Maryl, for the charming animation! Loved it!

  108. HOW SWEET! IT TAKES A SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL MESSAGE LIKE THIS TO START THE DAY OUT RIGHT. 'NO TIGERS'.THANK YOU.

  109. Love the child-like thought and beautiful clear message, that you Maryl and Timmy send.
Hugs of love and peace, Carol F.

  110. I just loved this beautiful thought, and the artwork. thank you Maryl

  111. Charming and to the point. Thank you so much.
And, to the big Kids, there are no "bulls and bears" to fear, either.

  112. What a pure and healing thought! Growing up with my brothers and sisters we would walk seven blocks to our Christian Science Sunday School and play the "gratitude game". Each one said what they were grateful to God for that morning. We kept it up until we arrived. Sure made the walk easy and fun and "no tigers" either! Thanks for reminding me of some sweet memories Maryl, your grandson, and Nate and crew!!....(;D

  113. So helpful...thank you!

  114. Alan P - 2/15/12
How delightful, simple, and powerful. Thanks so much for this lift, Maryl.
    Boston, MA

  115. Just exactly the simple truth that I needed to hear today. Thank you so much for sharing!

  116. LOVE IT!!!!

  117. There are no tigers! Thanks for a great lift.

  118. I keep thinking back on this sweet story. Loved this daily Lift! Thank you !!!!

  119. I've hesitated before sending this comment, and trust that it will not be misunderstood. First Maryl, thank you so very much for "No tigers", and your lovely little grandson, and the other lifters too, for their sharing of spiritual ideas in overcoming fear of tigers, in whatever form, and what many people actually associate with what they represent. I'm sure if faced with one, I'd feel just the same !

However as I read and thought about " No Tigers", maybe a word might be said about tigers in connection, with the upbringing of our little ones, and how that they need to know too, that tigers need our appreciation and love for what they really represent.( Please see #14) And when more grown up, to be aware that tigers need protection also.. Again thank you.
On a lighter note, I was reminded of AA Milne's portrayal of a tiger as "Tigger", in "The House at Pooh Corner. "

  120. hahaha my two year old boy loves it! he says: "- Again, again!" as he wants to watch the video many times :)

  121. As a preschool art teacher, I have watched this several times and love the childlike illustrations. I appreciate your grandson's perspective and your loving response as well. ' Just shared it with my youngest, who is now in college! Thanks again for a heartwarming reminder and a chuckle.
