- 12/28/2012Thank you Sushil for this reminder of what a blessing it is to be a faithful servant. Our devotion to faithfully serving God, in the way of His appointing, puts into practice our everlasting love for our Father-Mother God. Serving God is our highest calling. Our obedience and affection to divine Principle is what not only allows us to rebuke error, but in the words of Mary Baker Eddy, "rejoice in immortality, boundless freedom, and sinless sense.."

- 12/28/2012I'm working on this one, Sushil, thank you for the Lift..
And thank you to all of my brothers and sisters of the Daily Lift community. I am grateful for all who contribute. I am grateful for the expectation of daily Daily Lifts that speed "my progress," (S&H) in my dialogue with God to know the Truth. And this gravitation Godward, through the study of the Bible Lesson, study of Science & Health, prayer, Christian Science literature, and pondering of the Daily Lifts, I know that this "struggle for Truth makes one strong instead of weak, resting instead of wearying one."(S&H) I try to catch these Lifts "hot off the press," which, for me, is right around 2am every weekday night..I get to listen, ponder, and formulate a response late at night/early in the morning, and even if I fall asleep during any of these phases, I get to fall asleep with a truth..
..love to all within range of this DL around the globe..

- 12/28/2012They say that there's no prophet in his own land, but MBE calls us, "citizens of the world", S&H 227:24.
God gave all of us immeasurable talents, are we using them?
Recently, when someone who doubted God's all-power called me for help, I knew that if I were to accept the challenge I first needed to prove to myself that no power can oppose God.
As a Christian Scientist I need to see through the nothingness of superstition… and once again God proved there is no such a thing as an incurable disease.

- 12/28/2012Thank you for your thought-provoking message

- 12/28/2012I really enjoyed your message, especially hearing about the cooking. It's a good reminder that God is there to show us the way in every part of life, not just a select few.

- 12/28/2012Thank you, Sushil, for "Be a faithful servant ... challenging myself ... many talents I can put to use in new ways ... enter into the joys of the Lord." I am inspired to add this "challenge" to my daily prayer for myself and then apply it in practical ways. Through Christian Science, I have become aware of the healing power of identifying myself and others according to qualities of character rather than a mis-identification with any or all of the ills that flesh is heir to. Jesus identified us as "joint-heirs" with Christ and modeled qualities of character that reflect God/Our Father. To explore and apply our many God-bestowed talents, including qualities of character, is a faithful way to serve God. Wow! This Lift came just in time for me, since it has seemed lately that George Bailey has left Bedford Falls. ( ... from the movie, It's a Wonderful Life! :-) Occupying thought with "new ways" for "many talents" as a "faithful servant" and so entering into the "joys of the Lord," will keep me from being distracted with untruths and help me in staying focused on the Truth of being. A kind of "prayer and fasting." Healing happens.

- 12/28/2012Thank you. This is such a lovely message at a time when lots of people will be trying to make new efforts to improve themselves. Reviewing one's God given talents in this way is a great way to start.

- 12/28/2012Sushil, Thank you for the truth that our talents all come from God and we exist to express them

- 12/28/2012And I had to discover a wide range of talents, too, Sushil. Like how to change a flat tyre; how to mend a tap; how to do lots of things I had previously relied on my husband to do for me. Even how to upgrade my mobile phone! And how to use this computer which is an upgrade! Every day brings fresh opportunities for us to rely on prayer to God to keep us heading in the right direction. And it will never end!!
Thank you for our wonderful supply of Daily Lifts, and for those who keep their lamps trimmed and ready.

- 12/28/2012Thanks for a good reminder to review God bestowed talents i.e Spiritual qualities & put them in use. Each of us is a spiritual idea having so many spiritual qualities which lie unclaimed in us. A great inspiration to improve those talents. Thanks again.

- 12/28/2012Thank you. I am in the process of learning a new job, and I now realize how relevant your wonderful Lift is. Commitment to serve our dear Father is the way to unlock all those talents that are a part of every one of us. I feel far more confident about my learning curve!
Mary H, AL
- 12/28/2012Thank you for the reminder to keep using the talents we have. I was not using one of my talents after I had moved to new city. After a couple of years I Had to learn how to do some things. I did relearn how to do certain things. There is only one Mind and God governs. Many thanks to all.

- 12/28/2012Thank you Sushil for this great reminder. Yes. "Put our God given [Love's given] talents to work." "What can we do to work God's work,/ To prosper and increase/ The brotherhood of all mankind,/ The reign of the Prince of Peace?" (Christian Science Hymnal #82).

- 12/28/2012Thank you Sushi for your wonderful reminder of our never-ending talents from our Father/Mother

comments. Thanks also to #16 for hymns that fit each Daily Lift. Each day I read what
hynm is mentioned and find myself singing or humming it. I am so grateful for this site.

- 12/28/2012Thank you Sushil. What a helpful question, "Am I conforming to (old customs, false beliefs, crusty traditions, unwanted habits?)? No, not as God's faithful servant. Thanks. Thus, we enter into the joy of the Lord. thanks everyone who has shared so far today. thanks production team.

Muchas gracias

- 12/28/2012What a neat idea, Sushil! That's what I love about Christian Science - it seems to be so "up there" and metaphysical, but really, when these Truths are applied to our human lives, Christian Science proves to be so practical. The Divine meeting the Human! I guess that's why it can be called "The Comforter" - it comes to meet us right where we're at and smooths out our human experience, making it more of a fun and joyeous adventure! I think the most challenging part is learning that my mortal, human personality is not the me that God created and knows! If I really am an Infinite Idea, then I must have Infinite Talents and Qualities. I guess God is most pleased and best served when I am being my True Self - Her reflection!
Nancy from Yellow Springs
- 12/28/2012It take an infinite family of ideas to express God. And, His children represent the qualities and substance of the Father Mother God in infinite ways, Individual "talents" are improved as we discard the idea that we have some limited skills that need improving, but rather we have a role to fully participate in the family activities. Is God a great cook? You bet. Fed thousands. Produced manna. Uses oil!
I denied cooking talent for many many years, but now I am discovering, like you, Sushil, the joy of cooking. Of course!

- 12/28/2012I love the straightforward practicality of this Daily Lift from beloved India. Thank you dear lecturer for showing us how to break with traditions and to find our own way into expressing our God given talents. To challenge one's self to learn new things in order to share with others is wonderful-what could be better? I find that my recent taking up of the study of speaking Spanish has helped my clarity of thinking in all areas. What a joy and blessing it is to take up the focus required to learn something new. Thank you once again and I hope to apply this to my activities today and in the coming year. Happy New Year to one and all. With love, Donna in California

- 12/28/2012Last night, while awake in bed feeling uncomfortable, I pondered the definition of Man in Science and Health, which includes the line that "He is the compound idea of God, including all right ideas." This reassures us that any talent -- skill -- we need, we already include. How can we lack anything, as God's perfect, complete reflection?
Thank you, Sushil, for this reminder, and thank you Mother Church for giving us these daily uplifts to start our day. They are beautiful gifts to treasure and apply.

- 12/28/2012Thank you, Sushil, and Janice in FL for the reminder to pray for our president and Congress who are meeting today.

- 12/28/2012Sushil, this is a precious humble approach to living Christian Science, Christianity really, and I am so grateful for the reminder that we ARE humble servants of God, not in this experience to be served but to serve God and man. And I love that you are helping your wife with the cooking...hmmm...I'm going to be sure my husband hears this lift!

- 12/28/2012Thank you so very much! I am a retired first grade teacher and I have been missing my "kids". I know now that in the new year I will volunteer my services at a shelter or even apply to substitute teach. Then I will be using my God given talents and also will be happier in the process.

- 12/28/2012Thank you Sushil for a timely reminder, and for all who work on these Lifts all year, and for those who share their comments. There is always something special for me here, and today is no exception. I am working on costumes for a drama club production with a talent for sewing that I haven't used in decades. Sewing, it seemed to me, was a talent from a different age, old-fashioned, no longer useful. But there are no useless talents, are there? I'm joyfully showing love through the talents that were bestowed upon me. How exciting! And so grateful that I've been blessed with talents to share!

- 12/28/2012I was hoping that the passage from Matthew would be written down
somewhere so that I might look it up and re-read it. It is something
I want to share with my son who is retiring soon. He will be looking
to use his other talents now that he will have more time.
Thanks for the focusing in on this passage....
Daily Lift Team:
The parable of the talents begins in Matthew 25 verse 14
Karen J, Santa Fe, NM
- 12/28/2012That promise is so rich in possibilities. I used to read it as, do your work well and you will be given more work. But it really lifts us to the joy of doing God's work, feeling the joy of spiritual activity and watching God work. It gets self out of the way and makes room for more and greater works to the glory of God. A great Lift, Sushil!

- 12/28/2012Dear Sushil
Thank you for the reminder of this parable.
A good time to re-examine my "talents" and put them to work faithfully,
and enter into the joy of our Lord.
Happy new year to all of US in this Daily Lift family wherever you (we) are all around the world -------- the Lecturers, the production team, Nate, the band, The Board of Directors of The Mother Church, and every one of you in this family of spiritual seekers and spiritual thinkers! What a privilege to have a meeting with you all before the day starts -- every day!

- 12/28/2012Thank you Sushil. This is very sweet and thought provoking - this Daily Lift inspires me to look more deeply into spiritual talents and to put them to work - which suggests to me that I am being a faithful servant. Most grateful for your time and prayerfulness in your (our) daily walk.

- 12/28/2012I hope this is an example of a faithful servant. I have a Nurse Aide who has faithfully taken care of me 24/7 in the last 4 years, without visiting family, friends or even taken a vacation because she was so dedicated to her caring of me. Finally she went to India for 11 days to visit friends. Not being a C/S, she asked me to give her a list of how I prayed for safety and to pray for her, which I did, each night and each day. I denied mental Mal-practice and that she was under God's protective loving care. She was near the place where according to the news media, was some kind of assault. She is now home with me, safe and sound and told me that her vacation was wonderful. I can't thank God and Mary Baker Eddy's discovery of his laws, enough for my Nurse Aides divine protection through out. She is not a C/S but sure receptive for prayerful work done.
Rhonda
- 12/28/2012Loved it! Thank you. I will look for ways I can use unused talents God has given me. In fact, that will be my New Year's resolution! Thanks again, Sushil. And thank you Daily Lift team for a wonderful year of daily inspiration! (=

- 12/28/2012A wonderful insight into how to be a faithful servant. You've got me thinking. Thanks.

- 12/28/2012A New Year on the horizon and it's time to dust off old talents that aren't being used and be receptive to new ideas coming from Mind that will bless both me and other.
Thanks Sushil and also #33 Linda. I too thought I was past using my sewing talent, but what comes from God is always with us to be used. A good beginning for 2013.
Much Love to all who have used their God-given talents to bring us these Lifts.
Love it!
- 12/28/2012Thank you Sushil! Being a faithful servant is surely putting our talents to work. And it's expressing God who has given us these talents which are part of our individuality as manifestations of God!

- 12/28/2012Really great! Thank you, Shushil and thank you to Karen J. for reminding me that we are not only letting God work through us, but can watch God work. This really gets self out of the way.

I am indeed grateful to each one of you for your comments. I have gone through each one of them and these comments are the inspirations for each one of those who are on the production side. - 12/28/2012Enter in to the joy of the Lord. Sloth doesn't bring joy. New occasions bring new duties.
Thank you for this lift, which gives us new ideas to ponder.
Life is so full of a number of things, I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings. Rudyard Kipling, I think.
God's happy child
- 12/28/2012Dhanyavad, Sushil! (Thanks) for this very timely lift.
Sometimes we get caught up humanly doing the same thing over and over again, even though we've already mastered it and proven our success, because it seems like a safe place to be. But God knows us to be divine, just like Him, and requires so more of His servants/children, His image and likeness. We have many new, wonderful lessons to learn about God and His creation, and greater healing works to do.
As God's image and likeness, we are never stagnant or stuck because we have infinite talents/qualities to express. Since we reflect these qualities from God, we're not personally responsible for going at it alone, but are always, like the sunbeam and the sun, connected to our Source, empowered and directed by it. That thought fills me with tremendous joy, courage and hope for the new year and for all mankind. Shine on!

- 12/28/2012Thank you for this thought provoking DL and for ALL the comments. I am visiting my children and grandchildren in Europe and I have been cooking, knitting and sewing little things with the kids. I find this very gratifying since I usually do not have time at home with the long hours of office work. I will make a point for 2013 to discover other talents that have remained unused and put them to work at the service of our Lord. Blessings to all!

- 12/29/2012Thank-you, Sushil, for a very meaningful message/Lift! I know how to cook basic meals (had a great example from my mom), yet lately, I have been challenging myself to expand my experience and be more adventuresome in my cooking. In January, I'm going to begin participating in a conversational French class, in preparation for a trip to Paris. While engaged in these activities, I strive to keep the source of intelligence, ideas, skill and talent in the forefront of thought/consciousness.

- 12/31/2012I love reading these comments, which prove that the simple, profound truth of this Daily Lift coming from Sushil's direct experience has such spiritual power. 'When the heart speaks, however simple the words, its language is always acceptable to those who have hearts' Mrs Eddy writes in Misc Writings., p 262. These Daily Lift's are daily proof of this beautiful sentiment. Thank you to all who contribute to them and to all those working at our beloved Mother Church. Happy New Year!
