11/20: Open doors

11/20: Open doors

  1. Thank you very much, dear Mary Alice, for opening up the door to a heavenly day - I am very much looking forward what God gives us today - stength, healing, joy, ideas we need to bless others.
Your loving Lift helped me to look forward through the open door.

  2. Thank you. That was just what I needed to hear today.

  3. Thank you, Mary Alice Rose.

    Amen.

Truth, Wisdom, Love and Sincerity, to ALL mankind.

    Rob Scott
    Chicago, IL

  4. Great Lift, thanks for decorating the door. And the music as well.

  5. Thank you! What a wonderful idea to start the day with :)

  6. Thanks Mary Alice Those verses in Revelation are just what I have been praying with as the Synod of the Church of England vote on whether to allow women to become Bishops! Christ is the door-keeper! Ann K London.

  7. Thank you, Mary Alice! This lift is helping me to free my thought from the belief in obstacles, which is something I have been working at for some time now. There are no obstacles in God's kingdom. There are OPEN DOORS! Thank you!

  8. Thanks Mary Alice, for the open door to heavenly harmony, just what I needed to hear!

  9. What a wonderful message to start this day with....open doors. I allow myself to tune in to the idea that in the Kingdom of God all doors are wide open. I already feel uplifted. Thank you Mary Alice for sharing this Divine gift.

  10. Love this Lift, Mary Alice. And thank you Diana #7 for expressing my thoughts so perfectly: "There are no obstacles in God's Kingdom. There are OPEN DOORS!" The Christ is definitely the door-keeper. Belief in obstacles, dissolve now.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Staying in the Kingdom. . .

  11. I was having trouble breathing and soon I had a speaking engagement I couldn't postpone. This felt like an insurmountable obstacle… but there are no dead ends in God’s kingdom.
God knows His children more than we think. "I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name" Rev. 3:8
“A little leaven leavens the whole lump” S&H 32:5
Just accepting God as the only power does open any door.
    My engagement was a success!

" Apocalipsis 3:8
" Un poco de levadura leuda toda la masa." CyS 329:6
Con sólo aceptar a Dios como el único poder se puede abrir cualquier puerta.
    ¡Mi charla fue un éxito!

  12. thank you mary alice

  13. Mary Alice thank you for this Lift, and I just love the way Christian Science keeps opening its doors to one and all to overcome whatever would try to limit their understanding of the role of women in higher positions in the church. I remember when people asked my opinion regarding women being appointed and anointed as priests, and I was able to say that our church had never restricted the role of women in our church since it was founded by a woman, Mary Baker Eddy, who encouraged everyone to strive to reach their full spiritual potential. We can add our prayers to the women who should rightfully be able to be serve as Bishops in the Anglican Church.
Thank you Nate and the production team; the Board of lectureship and lecturers; and the Daily Lift family.

  14. Thank you for this lovely Lift. Mary Baker Eddy identifies that which would present itself as a closed door - the human belief in something besides God -, and she identifies the key - divine Science
(S&H p 171). Everyone can yield to God, use that key, and walk straight through!

  16. Doors are open......they are wide open ......... that seem to be closed. When we acknowledge Christ as the doorkeeper. Wow.....thankyou for the inspiring 'Lift', Mary Alice

  17. As I begin to make preparations for my family and friends to come through my door for a Thanksgiving meal, I thank you for the reminder that God is governing the universe and my home. The family and friends that I so dearly love are embraced in progress which is the law of God.

  18. Thank you for this inspiring Lift.

  19. thank you

  20. Many thanks Mary Alice for this simple but great reminder that "Our task is to make an honest effort to adhere to Christ Jesus teachings and to accept that God Good is the sole governor of the universe." "Governed by Love, you’re safe and secure;/ I am forever beside thee./ So rest and know wher-e’er you go,/ Home and heav’n cannot be denied thee,/ For I am the Lord, there is none else;/ There is no God beside Me." (Christian Science Hymnal Supplement #444).

  21. Thank you so much. I am still pondering the idea of doors we haven't even seen yet! But I'll be looking for them today. Dealing with a family emergency right now, this is just the guidance needed. Very grateful for the lift!

  22. Thanks Mary Alice--a much needed message--believe me! And thanks to Eleanor (#14) too--for pointing out that the belief of the obstruction that seems to hold one back from going forward is just a false belief that needs to be seen for the lie that it is. That whole paragraph on page #171 that Eleanor alludes to is great and is a real eye opener to not let our progress be stopped--not to accept second best (or worse!!). The whole paragraph is lines 4-11 and states: "Through discernment of the spiritual opposite of materiality, even the way through Christ, Truth, man will reopen with the key of divine Science the gates of Paradise which human beliefs have closed, and will find himself unfallen, upright, pure, and free, not needing to consult almanacs for the probabilities either of his life or of the weather, not needing to study brainology to learn how much of a man he is."

  23. Thank you Mary Alice and Michael (#22).

The door was open for me to find what I needed today!

  24. Thank you! Very timely for my husband and I today!

  25. Thank you.

  26. Many thanks Mary Alice ...A welcome reminder!

  27. Thank you, Some times the door fills closed in are thoughts but when we see the truth the door was allways open

  28. Thanks Mary Alice.
That same text was a great source of inspiration for me throughout an experience that challenged me during the last six months. Help came from family, a wonderful practitioner, steadfast love from the members of church and the community. And now we all can see the open door that no human laws had the power to shut.
Thanks for bringing that message of hope today. As I once was sustained by the truth expressed by those words, I wish the same bless to all.

  29. Thank you so very much, Mary Alice, for this inspiring, thoughtful lift! Thanks, too, for your recent lecture in Wayne, PA and your prayer and work, blessing all! Thanksgiving prayers and gratitude all ...

  30. Uplifting and comforting message!
Only "open doors" before me, ever!
Indeed, it lifted me up and filled my heart with hope and stillness.
    Thank you so much!

  31. I started my morning by praying for a peaceful solution to the violence in Syria, knowing that with only one Mind, all of God's children are brothers and sisters of the same Parent, and all have the same intelligence and wisdom to call upon for a solution. This Lift helps me to see that there is an open door before the residents of Syria -- its government officials, its residents -- that no one can shut. The door of Love. Thank you, Mary Alice, for this sweet message that answers all prayers.

  32. Wow - I have had difficulty opening attachments last evening and today - I clicked on this Lift and was denied access. Several other attempts to open attachments failed. Reading some inspired words in another email, I took time to reach out to God to give thanks for dwelling in Love's presence - at-one with Love, Love surrounded, embraced and upheld. I tried again, and guess what? The door opened.
Am so in awe of this priceless gift of Christian Science. Thank you, Mary Alice, and all Lifters.
    And Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

  33. Thank you, Mary Alice! How enlighening to realize that it is ONLY our belief in another mind besides God that can present the image of a closed door or a deadend! "Then open wide your thought to Truth and Life and Love....." !!!! Go forward, then, and watch doors fly open!!

  34. Just what I needed to hear this morning... thank you for this wonderful lift!

  35. Mary Alice = Thank you for this. It brought me the peace of looking into infinity!
    Annette - Chevy Chase, MD

  36. Thank you for this wonderfully inspiring image and for all the open doors you illuminated recently with your lecture in Wayne, Pa.

  37. Thank you, Mary Alice, for “Open doors … ‘behold, I have set before thee an open door and no man can shut it’ … now … God is constantly revealing opportunities for progress …” Sometimes when I have gone to God in prayer, I have felt exhausted, even desperate; but, I’ve grown spiritually beyond options that have little or no God in them. And so, realizing that I can’t do anything worthwhile without God, I open the door of my consciousness, praying only for Godlike solutions. God always answers prayer with and without words – the longing to do right, to be good, to bless. I’m learning to listen, really listen. I consider it “hearkening,” which is hearing God through and above the clamor of mortal mind. Hearkening to the “still small voice,” always imparts good and sometimes seems very loud and firm; but, it’s always like a shepherd guiding and protecting. This hearkening is like a door that leads to beholding. Sometimes in what seemed to be a hopeless or extreme situation, I’ve been given a door or way or solution that had seemed locked or even just “not there,” moments ago. I’ve decided to refuse to be the “mortal man” who would try to close a door that God opens and so I follow the example of the Master Christian. “Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals.” (S&H 476). Going forward then, as Divine Love leads, is the only way and “my” mortal man is put off for my perfect man, as I strive to hearken and behold!

  38. How comforting it is to know that nobody and nothing can shut the open door we have to the Truth. I also was inspired by your lecture link above, "Are Brick-And-Mortar Churches Passe?" I thoroughly enjoyed the performance as well of the virtual choir you refer to. However, a virtual choir can never replace the thrill of singing in an actual choir, which I have enjoyed doing over the years. The first time I visited The Mother Church as a teenager, who loved to sing, I was thrilled to be surrounded by other voices singing the hymns and felt free to sing out joyfully. It was an unforgetable experience.

  39. Thanks Mary Alice and everyone who has shared. Thanks 31# for your prayers for/about Syria. Thanks Malcolm for so often sharing relevant hymns. I'm thinking of this line from hymn 64, "...I/we/ reach Mind's open door, and at it's portal, I/we/ know that where we stand is holy ground..... the loveliness of Love is all around."

  40. This reminds me of the promise found in II Sam 22:30 and Ps 18:29: "For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall." Knowing, expecting, affirming only open doors, we can see correctly. What troop? What wall? Only what we imagined. Great start today for us all to move forward. Thank you!

  41. Thank you Mary Alice for your comforting lift today. Yes, the door is always open. Truth always awaits us. Such a beautiful passage you referred us to from Revelations.

I awakened today too early. It was still dark and not time to walk my dog. My mind filled with terrible nightmare-ish thoughts about my son not being able to breathe. My husband was awake and I asked
him to pray and we both prayed. As I thought "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want...My rod and staff they comfort you.." I drifted back to sleep feeling cradled in comfort and love. What seemed like five minutes was apparently over an hour when I awoke again. My husband told me he had received the angel thought, "Breathe God." Such a wonderful thought that was. So simple. Right where the physical senses seemed to be creating disease and other false ideas, there is God filling all space with harmony and goodness and providing us with so many open doors -- an infinitude of open doors.

Bless you all and thank you so much for your insights and the precious lift.

  42. I love all the comments so far! It is wonderful to see how each Daily Lift sparks thought. The additional ideas and quotes are inspiring and helpful. Thank you all!

  43. How reassuring to know that wherever we find ourselves in the world at the moment, God is there unfolding never-ending opportunities..Thanks for the inspired lift!

  44. God has opened many doors for me today, doors of peace, love & good will!

  45. Thanks, Mary Alice. What a wonderful lift and I look forward to experiencing those open doors today!

  46. The Daily Lift is like opening a door every morning to a new view of the world outside with bright ideas, fruitful trees, vines and flowers. Thank you Mary Alice, I like your reference to "dead ends", and the possibility that we can "discover doors we didn't know were there."
It reminds me of the door mentioned by Mary Baker Eddy in quoting Christ Jesus in her illustrated book, "Christ and Christmas":
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my
voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will
sup with him, and he with me. — Christ Jesus."
Is the front door of our consciousness not used and cluttered up with material noise so we don't hear his knock, and maybe even forgot there was a door?
May everyone have a joyful American Thanksgiving. Christ Jesus joined his disciples to eat with them twice - even though the doors were shut. He must have used his "open door". (see John:20).

  47. Oh my gosh, so grateful for this. HOPE!

  48. Thank you, every day I wait to see, or hear what God has in store for me.

  49. Such lovely, gentle comments today. Thanks to all, and especially to Mary Alice.

The only open doors we truly want are the ones we discern through spiritual sense. Sometimes our way can seem blocked. That's a good time to let God do all the thinking: "the battle is the Lord's."

In the last few days, I've just had little doggy-doors...really small ideas about how to go forward...but I'm grateful for them, and I'm going with the light I have. I'm grateful to all who are praying today.

  50. As a CS practitioner would say, "And where is God in all this?" when I'd tell her a sad story. This helps me shift the focus when the material picture seems out of control.Brings comfort, assurance, and the expectancy of good, and removes the limited, fearful picture the material senses project.

  51. Thank you Mary Alice!! What a beautiful lift! Just what I needed today. So grateful!

  52. What a revelation of what has always been true. It just sometimes gets "hidden". Thank you, Mary Alice, for the inspiring message for many who need this.

  53. Thank you!

  54. Thank you Mary Alice for reminding us that we have only to open the door of our thought to the Christ, Truth, to remove seeming obstacles in our lives.

  55. Thank you Mary Alice for a very powerful lift. I am seeming to have a painful struggle with ending (or keeping it going) a relationship that is going nowhere. I continue to hold to truth and love to help keep it alive, but it is not happening. (or so it seems) Your lift told me that if we adhere to Christ teachings, this aligns us to the divine power that opens doors. I need to get into alignment and to do so, I must work harder to adhere to Christ's teachings.

How beautiful were your words, "Even a glimps of the truth of God's word, carries with it all the power of God." Just a glimps! And you reminded me that, "You and I live in the kingdom of God, NOW." I have tears of joy as I now move forward to reach the open door. Thank you for a beautiful lift to start this Glorious Day.

  56. I have felt the need to replay this Daily Lift five times, Mary Alice, and have also taken the trouble to add it to a folder I keep of special Daily Lifts which I need to continue studying. Your taking the words from the Book of Revelation and weaving them into a Daily Lift has amplified the revelation for me even more so.

And I thank you for that. One often hears how the Christian Science bible lessons dovetail so nicely with the comings and goings of our lives and I can't help but observe that, at least for me, the Daily Lifts more often than not, do the exact same thing, and for this I am most grateful.

  57. I have so loved this passage over the years - thanks so much for exploring the unlimited implications of it!

  58. Thank you Mary Alice for this thought-inspiring Lift. When we open the door of our thought to the fullness of the Christ our space becomes filled with Divine Love chasing away the darkness of mortal sense which would encompass us. As Mary Baker Eddy says in S&H page 596, "Though the way is dark in mortal sense, divine Life and Love illumine it, destroy the unrest of mortal thought, the fear of death, and the supposed reality of error." There are no locks on this door and it is accessible to all.

  59. You sparked thought pretty good! This was an excellent lift filled with great comments of truths. I did a wonderful weds lesson once on doors. One of the more fun concepts to work with. On the other end of the scale from opening the door to truth (or the door of truth), sometimes when I feel a seeming attack by error, I think of the Beetles song: I hear you knocking but you can't come in." Doors are available for entering safe passage and for barring against bad thinking. Thanks again for the lift. God provides the right doors at the right time- truth and love now.

  60. With your permission I would like to add to my previous comment. When I read #41 Alabama's comment concerning nightmar-ish thoughts what came to mind was that evil thoughts have the same power over us when asleep or awake, which is no power at all no matter how startling they seem. Keeping with the theme of door I like how Mrs. Eddy uses it in her beautiful composition "What Our Leader Says" on page 210 of Miscellany,"There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness. Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited." Thank you.

  61. Thank you.

  62. Open doors that no one can shut - what an inspired antidote to the claim of dead ends. God the sole governor of the universe opening doors of progress is a powerful thought to overcome stagnation.
thank you for this very hellpful Lift.

  63. I love "open doors that you didn't even know were there!" Every idea you shared is dot on with me. That insight is thrilling, exciting and adventurous! Many thanks MAR.

  64. Thanks so much. I am grateful to watch for the open door, for the glimpse...and take it forward in thanks living!

  65. Thank you Mary Alice.

  66. Thanks, Mary Alice. These thoughts are so helpful.

  67. You have piked some wonderful words that have always inspired me! Thank you!

  68. You have played a classic quote I often use. Thank you!

  69. This was beautiful. Just what I needed today. Thanks you so much!

  70. Dear Mary Alice, thank you for this inspiring Lift. It was EXACTLY what I needed (so grateful of how it works!) Also grateful for the helpful comments the DL sparked.

  71. What does God have in store for me today? Only good. What may appear as a tough situation presents a challenge that I need, a lesson in store for me. I love that as I have gained in years and in experience and in acceptance of myself and others, I now look to accept the challenges that come to me, and come they do, as gifts for learning- for spiritual growth that meets me just where I am. I am very, very grateful for these Daily Lifts that meet my need for spiritual community first thing in my day and that provide me with a kernel of truth, that like the proverbial mustard seed, will only grow and flourish in untold ways that the limited human picture will not indicate. I give thanks to one and all on this day. Thank you for being a contributor to this format. It is so appreciated by me! Happy Thanksgiving. Donna Allen

  72. Thank you Martin, for your insight in your #60 post. As so often happens, an angel thought told me to go back and look at yesterday's posts, and there was your comment waiting for me. I appreciate your pointing out that evil has no power at all, no matter how startling it may appear, while asleep or awake. The quote you mentioned from Miscellaneous Writings was perfectly in line with the idea of an open door. I'm focused on filling my thoughts with goodness, and the idea that all whom my thoughts rest upon are benefited is also very comforting. My son has chosen to take part in a clinical trial to treat his illness and we fly to Houston Sunday. He is not a Christian Scientist but has drawn closer to God throughout this time of challenge and the blessing has been the spiritual growth that has unfolded for him. I know deeply that the only healing comes from God and hopefully my armor of good thoughts will benefit him. I do my best to pray ceaselessly and see my son as God sees him. Thank you again so much for caring and sharing your precious insight.

  73. Thank you so very much!!!!!

  74. There is ALWAYS a space, a door, an exit, a vestibule, right when mortal mind would say there is no way out, no exit, no room, no time, it's all over; the still, small voice of God, that carries with it the authority, as when a lion roareth, reaches us “over continent and ocean to the globe’s remotest bound,” (Mrs Eddy S&H), "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."--Hebrews

One time, I was having difficulty breathing, and I was so focused on this that I realized I was nearing drawing my last breath. I thought it was all over, but right as mortal mind was ready to give in a thought came to me, Why not ask God for direction?! So I said, Okay, God, what should I do?...and He gave me a direction, and at first, the direction He gave me seemed absurd, and I was afraid to move, so I said, Are You sure, God??, and He gently repeated the direction, and this time, I obeyed. Literally and figuratively, this gave me some "breathing room." I asked, Now what? And He gave me another direction, and I quickly obeyed this time! ... The breath soon returned and I was free, and left to ponder this wondrous turn of events, this sweet, powerful dialogue with my God..

  75. Thank you Mary Alice for your beautiful words today. They were/are especially comforting to me. Many, many thanks to all who share their love and inspiration through their comments. These Daily Lifts are truly a blessing to all each day. Much gratitude to all who share their love for Christian Science and our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy through their comments.

  76. Thank you so much Mary, for the great lift.

  77. Thank you Mary Alice! Your insightful lift was exactly what I needed to hear this morning!

  78. When we believe in material laws opening up answers to human problems, we are only believing in a temporary success story. Those material doors can open, but then it can also close and then one has to start all over again. But, Harrah, Revelation in the Bible exclaims that it's open doors are ever open, leading man to make successful decisions that can never close because it's from a spiritual understanding of God and not a material one. So lean on God.

  79. This is a few days "late" in responding, but I still want to thank Mary Alice for this lift. I heard this lift several times over the phone during the Thanksgiving weekend. Your voice was soothing and sweet (and reminded me of my dear mom who always had the perfect words to say to me to uplift my thought when I needed it most). Also, sincere thanks to Steve in NJ for sharing your thoughts and your testimony. I always love what you share and look forward to your comments. You are a blessing, and I am grateful you had this wonderful healing.

  80. I haven't been to this site for a few days, I'm ashamed to say. And until I listened to this DL, I seemed to be behind "closed" doors. If that makes any sense.
In March, we moved to an assisted facility, which meant I'd be away from two sisters and a brother-in-law, a loving nephew, grand niece and grand nephew (children of our nephew-college age) with whom we've spent about 17 yrs together, as our sons/families are in MA.
However, today, while dining with a lovely senior here, who knew of a CS for a short time, as we were talking, it seems she's felt that some people have been in her room, uninvited, at different times, feeling she's missing items, etc. That seems to be the "so-called claim here". I've suggested some things earlier, but THIS TIME, I asked her if she had a Bible, and I believe she has access to a Bible she acquired at a university "Olaf" (forgot where in US), anyway, I suggested to turn to the Psalms and do some serious reading there, and keep her thinking with God, as opposed to all the negative thoughts coming that keep her fearful. She thanked me for that kind thought, and since reading this DL, I'll print some of this out, as I feel this "Open Door" lift, will be more helpful to her, as it has, along with others of these DL and comments of Truth and Love, have been for me.
I feel this is the right line of thinking for her and what the team provides for all mankind will bless one and all.
    Thank you, one and all.

  81. To Jayne, CA

I am grateful for this venue of communication. It brings hope, vitality, and connection. As our Father-Mother moves us, so are we moved. As we seek and find opportunities to rise above a mortal sense of existence, as we find these 'doors' we are enlightened further to Mrs Eddy's promise of "no parting, no pain." I love to share these portals of light with those who'll listen and be blessed..One day, we'll all realize that the human sense of existence was "a blundering despatch" as Mrs Eddy says in S&H, and it'll yield "in the twinkling of an eye" to our native spiritual sense, our "native air of insight and perspicacity."(S&H)

Only and ever Love to you Jayne, and thank YOU for your heartfelt warmth..

  82. Mary Alice and the Lifter family, thank you, thank you for truly lifting me higher than I've ever been before. My husband and I have been feeling like we are waiting for so much to happen - that the doors simply aren't opening and the answers aren't there that we have been waiting for. Behold - we simply need to set our thoughts aright, as you have all so beautifully explained. Rejoice! I am so very grateful to Christian Science and the love and insight shared through this beautiful format of the Daily Lifts. We are all truly blessed from the love that is shared and the encouragement that comes forth. Happy holidays to all, and the doors - here and now - and into 2013 will be wide open for those leaning on the sustaining Infinite!
