One of my favorite statements on identity is found in our textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 265,"This scientific sense of being, forsaking matter for Spirit, by no means suggests man's absorption into Deity and the loss of his identity, but confers upon man enlarged individuality, a wider sphere of thought and action, a more expansive love, a higher and more permanent peace." Our true identity, one that allows us to demonstrate perfect God and perfect man, is an outcome of our conscious unity with the one Mind.

Thank you for this Lift. There are many dimensions of the Lift that brought a sense of assurance and peace. Thanks also to the DL Team for your dedication.

The thought of approaching the sun and the darkness disappearing is wonderful and really helps to squash fear. Just today I watched an episode of Star Trek, Voyager from Season 2 called "The Thaw" and it dealt with fear. I watch this episode repeatedly because there are some strong truths in the episode. One statement I love is where Captain Janeway confronts the being that represents fear and she tells it "You & I both know that fear only exists for one reason, to be conquered" .

This reminded me today that fear, hurt, pain, anger, loss, physicality etc are not part of our true identity. Our identity is not shaped by events (past, present or future), it is already established as part of God's creating; our individuality therefore cannot be altered in any way by human events or fears.

Personality and identity are two completely different things, at least in my books. I see personality as the human adoption of an identity, further conditioned by human practices, beliefs and oftentimes fear. Individuality is the reflection of Godliness; the true substance of our being. As you said, the closer we approach the brilliance of the sunlight (our individuality), the less darkness (or fear) we see (hold on to).

Fear, like ethnicity, isn't part of our true individuality. Wonderful! Thanks!

She is amazingly beautiful and clearly untouched by the experience, but that was their so-called beginning. Our four children started in much the same way: not quite in the trash can, but certainly unwanted, cast out and labelled by the social stigma of the day. In fact there was such disapproval, that we had to pray about those concerns from family members. There have been rocks along the way at various times, but beauty, honesty and uprightness have prevailed, and they're bringing up their own children with the best of intentions and hopes for the future,

I love this uplift so much! Throughout the years of my study in Christian Science, in search of being free of unhappy relationships due to not having the "right nationality" , the right title, the right bankamount, the right physicality etc.... I have come to appreciate the unconditional love of God. Now, I am working in the E.C. where nationalities and gender are so limiting and seemingly a condition to be appreciated by the bosses (clicques /networks of nationalities), therefore this uplift is like a saving angel message. And that (cit#29) "The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error,and man's real existence as a child of God comes to light (shines!)." I am a child of Light! Therefore I can with clarity shine intelligence, health,innocence, fearlessness, patience, charity, beauty, humility, receptivity, goodness, a pure, unfettered knowing of my identity! Le cas étant trop lourd pour moi et même pour la psychologue, je décidai de la confier aux bons soins de Dieu. La nuit, dans mon lit, j'affirmai qu'elle était l'enfant parfaite de Dieu, reflétait les qualités parfaites de Dieu, qu'elle était donc capable d'apprendre, qu'elle était saine d'esprit, heureuse et aimée de tous. Enfant aimée de Dieu, elle avait droit à son héritage divin, à sa réussite, à son épanouissement. Le lendemain, elle me dit qu'elle allait travailler, qu'elle voulait apprendre à lire, ce qu' ELLE FIT ! A la récréation, elle se mit à jouer avec ses camarades, pleine de joie, heureuse de vivre. Remarquant le changement, stupéfiée, une collègue me dit : "Tu as vu ta petite, elle n'est plus la même, elle joue ! C'est un miracle !" I've really been thinking about identifying myself and others as children of God, seeing only what God created and sees. It's not easy sometimes as thought wants to wander to what mortal sense sees. However, with the desire to only see as God sees is prayer and I quickly can say no to such thoughts. I love the part about the sun and getting closer to it we see ONLY light. I know my desire of getting closer to God will also let me see only the light of Truth about me and ALL of God's creation. Thanks so much for this great Daily LIft.

There is one kind: children of God! It is only a false human sense that would immediately divide us into groups, first, male or female, next, healthy or unhealthy, big or little, premature or late, then further into races, cultures, moods, etc!!

There is only God and what He thinks , and what He thinks is at least mighty, immortal and good.(S&H)

God expresses Himself fully, infinitely individually, and so each of us are "the full representation of Mind," as Mrs Eddy says, "where human sense hath not seen man."

"We can, and ultimately shall, so rise as to avail ourselves in every direction of the supremacy of Truth over [the] error" of physical sense that would divide God's thoughts into mortal classifications. (S&H)

Thank you too Martin Vesley (#2) for your quote from S&H. The fact that the closer we move our thought to see as God sees, we do not lose individuality but gain greater individuality is important to understand. People only fear the disappearance of matter because they believe they are matter -- a physical body. Or they identify themselves with their possessions -- their car, their house, their wealth. They may even think that without these things they are nothing. It couldn't be farther from the truth. These objects are the counterfeits of spirit. Perfect ideas can never be lost or destroyed and becoming aware of the fact that you are spirit, perfect thought, brings greater ability, peace, understanding and wisdom -- not less as mortal mind would have you believe. Your location on the globe, place of birth, physical appearance, personality or mannerisms do not define you. "Define" is a limiting word and we were made in God's image which is infinite but also provides spiritual individuality for each one of us.

The ways most humans identify themselves are many. Take the USA for example; I am an American, a Yankee, a C/S, a Honky, etc.
I suppose those coming from other countries are called by their native lands and other names. This all leads to some kind of intolerance, which leads into "I am better than you." Which leads into hate and war. Suppose we take an easier way by realizing our true identity, which is the subject of today's Daily Lift, as a child of God. Wars would be prevented, crimes against people because of religion or ethnicity would be erased. So easy, and yet for humans, so hard to do.

I feel that it's very important for each one of us to challenge labels whenever we discern that they're being used to diminish or discredit someone (or to puff them up, for that matter). For example, after a hurtful breakup, a person could be tempted to assassinate the character of the one who initiated the breakup. Damaging labels might be applied directly or through subtlety: insinuation, innuendo, even the pretense of a "mistake." Wikipedia.org has an interesting description of "character assassination" as a particularly nefarious form of bullying, because the person being slandered isn't even present to defend himself or herself!

One way to challenge the misrepresentation of Christian Science and Mary Baker Eddy, I feel, is to stand up reliably and courageously to false labels (of ANY person or group) right in our own churches, workplaces, and homes. I feel that, as we lift impositions of false labels everywhere, we can also be a better friend to Mary Baker Eddy. The antidote, of course, is seeing through false influence. God is the only Mind there is! We're witnesses of the oneness of Mind and of everyone's true identity as purely spiritual (unassailable).

This morning, the mist covered the whole landscape, and this afternoon, THE SUN SHINES ! : THE VEIL IS LIFTED...Testimony : 9 years ago, I had a student disconnected from material reality. She raved, was delirious. She never played with her friends, not interested in any school activity, and therefore, learned nothing, only dreamed in her imaginary world. The case being too heavy for me and even for the psychologist, I decided to entrust her to the good cares of GOD. At night, in my bed, I declared that she was the perfect child of God, she reflected the perfect qualities of God. Therefore, she was able to learn, she was sane in her mind, happy and loved by all. Child loved by God, she had the right of her divine heritage, her success and her development. The next day morning, she told me that she wanted to work, to learn to read, what she did ! At the hour of amusement, playings, she began to play with her friends, joyful, happy to live. Noticing the change, amazed, a colleague told me : "Have you seen your little girl, she is no longer the same, she plays, it's a miracle !" Another child said : "I have never seen that she was beautiful ! But, she IS beautiful !". She has never raved since that day ! WE ARE ALL PERFECT CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT-GOD ! Very good bright day, full of Light to all ! With all my love !

You mention that you had sometimes previously felt somewhat limited by a national identity. Whenever I see your photo and hear your lift I am only conscious of a beloved, lovely and gracious, beautiful expression of Soul and Spirit, filled with love for mankind....emanating from our precious Father-Mother God. We can all sparkle like diamonds when we turn to the Light and reflect that Light. Like a diamond in the dark away from the light, none of the beauty would be evident. As we draw closer to God and realize that there is only one Mind, and that Mind is our Mind, we take on a spiritual glow about us and matter thins out and begins to start to fade away. Your lift today certainly brought this to my attention, and you surely are a prime example of this. Even your lovely, gentle voice has a calming effect, and I know all this comes straight from God. Great question. Sometimes when something feels so shameful a person will go to great lengths of production and half truths to avoid what is really needed to clear the air about the TRUTH.
The truth is very simple can be stated a few sentences not a script. We can distort and enlist others to distort the TRUTH. However it is always simple. Knowing the real truth about each other is simple as well no miasmas to dig through or that lend to great drama.
Divine truth and cleverness are two different ends of a spectrum of thought. Setumes humans to save face (so to speak) or to look like they are saving someone else's face will go to extreme lengths. There is no need to influence anyone, the truth is loud and clear, we are all Gods perfect ideas, HONEST, upright and pure.

Also "Let/let" is mentioned -- . May one let you fill in the spaces,would that be an instruction?.

Dear Fujiko,
I am just picking this up from Baja California MX. What a wonderfully freeing thought- to accept that we are children of God (infinite Good, all harmonious). Materiality doesn't "shine", it seems to absorb influences around it. I love the thought of continuing to shine, closer to Life, Light.

Thank you fujiko, what a good question- Who are you? I pondered this some time ago and asked a few people if they could answer this question correctly and it turns out the only true answer is I am the precious and loved child of god. All other answers are "What am I?"

Thank you Fujiko for this "Lift." It inspired me after seeing the play ALLEGIANCE in San Diego. It is about a family during the Japanese Interment Camps in the USA. It is about each person finding his and her own identity during a terrible time of war. Those who survived saw something more important in their lives than just a label. Oh if only we always saw ourselves and others as the child of God expressing that perfect whole perfection. In the above comment, please forgive the misspelling. "Internment" Camps is the correction. Thousands
of ID tags hung from the ceiling in the lobby of the theater. A woman looking at them told me that her farther-in-law's tag was there. I said to her that an ID tag could never tell one what his true identity is---God's precious child. God had that loved one identified all the time. She sweetly thanked me for that thought. Ann
