Many thanks John for pointing out the fact that in reality there is no such thing as time: "Till time and space and fear are naught/My quest shall never cease,/ Thy presence ever goes with me/ And Thou dost give me peace." (Christian Science Hymnal #136). We also know that the history of error is delusion, while "The history of Jesus shows him to have been more spiritual than all other earthly personalities." (S&H 315:26).

Danke, lieber Hans!
for this great lift. Right now it seems a little utopian to me to be and work without time measurements. The thing I am trying to do is to make the best of time - to fill it with good thoughts and deeds. Though I must say that I would love to work and live without the feeling that I should go to sleep because I am tired, because it is 11 pm. I have worked very often and with good success with the thought that "time is no part of eternity". Things got done "in time" or I arrived where I had to be - without using much time. I would love to understand the timelessness of life as much as you describe. It would be simply "heavenly." Danke, again.

What a timely and uplifting message. Before listening to this, I was replying to an email from a friend and sharing some past experiences I had with an aunt that was very dear to me and has since passed on. I miss her so much and was feeling a little low when I opened this Lift reminding me to live in the present - now. Hymn 391 certainly describes what I was doing "looking with tearful eyes" at the past when "The "one far off divine event" Is now, and that event is Love." Certainly a good reminder. Now I'll listen to the Wednesday testimony meeting from TMC. Thanks so much!

I have been explaining to my son-in-law Simon, that there is no time, only the joy and harmony of Now! He's experienced some surprising things during our four years, and so he is beginning to see for himself that it could be so. His little cat had a lump under his jaw which was suddenly not there at all. ("Albert, there is no blocked consciousness,") And Simon said, "Margaret, the lump has gone!" He can see how much he has changed (lost his sense of fear) and how much better he feels (calmer and sweeter). I myself have been on a sudden opportunity to move out of time even more, by accidentally leaving my watch at my daughter's house, and I don't have clocks. Only these ones on the computer and the mobile phone. As you say, very freeing. We live and move and breathe at God's direction,

Thank you for this thought, "Breaking free of time." It gives us something to think about and share with friends. When it comes to age, we must not be tempted to join in a conspiracy against ourselves. For many it's hard to think about giving up birthday parties honoring age. We might instead establish a "Thinking of you day," with a different date in mind without meaningless numbers, honoring with gratitude that which is good and true NOW!

Thank you, John, for “Breaking free of time … imagine if you woke up today in a world without time … just the now … no past failures or successes … no future to worry about … what incredible freedom …” This fits in perfectly with what I’ve been learning about The Way that Jesus lived and that we are called to follow. Jesus lived in the now of unceasing prayer and unwavering obedience. Mrs. Eddy followed Jesus’ example, consecrating her life to understand, prove, and share the freedom of living in the now of unceasing prayer and unwavering obedience. She named The Way that Jesus lived, Christian Science, which heals every ill that flesh is heir to. Maybe I just did “wake up” today in a world without time. Just now. Do less compromising and more consecrating to stay awake to the real freedom of unceasing prayer and unwavering obedience.

Amazing lift John. Thank you so much for moving our thoughts to truth like that. Time is the glue that makes matter persist. Without time, there would be no physical world. So, waking up in a world without time allows the idea of only spiritual existence, and yes we know our true essence is perfect and whole. The "now" is a veil of harmony. It's so calming when we deeply understand this truth. It brings that "peace that passes all understanding."
Your lift also helps me deal with a phrase the doctor used yesterday when I took my son for his appointment. The intern doctor said he was amazed at my son's positive attitude and how well he is doing, considering the "hand he had been dealt." This phrase was a double edged misconception rooted in time. Of course the upside was the physician's perception of good. However, like so many people he perceives reality as a good/evil duality. But when we stay in the "now" there is no past experience that is capable of impinging its mental picture on the body in the form of disease. There is no being dealt a "bad hand" or any other sort of lie. "Now" is filled only with good. The 23rd psalm came to mind yesterday, "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want." All is perfect, whole, and complete.
Many thanks to all of your for you insight John and to all who posted and the BOL. Today is big with blessings!!

I hope I can express my concept of time. As I grew up, I began to realize that the less I worried about how much time I had to do a certain thing, the more I accomplished. Then when I became interested in C/S, time was reaveled to me only as a powerless concept of mortal mind. With that thought, I accomplished even more. I as a child and even to this day, love Time Travel stories. And even now, humans have broken the barriers of time. We can actually travel though it. Time is definitely not restricted but actually the opposite.

The concept of time is nothing more than M.A.M. A conspiracy against the true concept that you so beautifully expressed. Many years ago my dad felt he didn't want to celebrate birthdays any longer, so it was decided since we all felt he needed a special day, he received that day as "Independence Day", and carried that forward until left. But he always looked forward to his yearly Independence Day arrival.

I love the expansion of the idea from the Daily lift yesterday found here today. I am complete, whole and without the baggage of all that the past and or future would indicate. I love the idea of letting go of all that. That is not what defines me. It is the completeness of the present. That is what counts-the wonderful offerings that I may find now, today.God offers tremendous blessings for us all. No matter how small they might seem, every blessing is a blessing and worth our gratitude and expression. Thank you for this lift and have a blessed day one and all.

Thank you John for this enlightening Lift. As we lose our sense of time we gain the sense of the infinite and the spiritual realities that go with it: all the beauty of heaven and earth. This understanding allows each of us to make the demonstration that, in the words of Mary Baker Eddy, "Man in Science is neither young nor old. He has neither birth nor death."

HI John, and thank you so much for this NOWness and the relinquishing of the finite sense of time.
As I was working with the Bible Lesson-Sermon this morning, it came to me that we can drop all sense of "have I studied enough?...have I spent enough TIME?" Or "did I finish?" "Are my prayers effective or did I pray long enough?" Rather than indulging the habit of measuring everything's value by the amount of time spent, we can rejoice that we are continually and forever immersed in this beautiful study and unfoldment, this knowing more and more of our precious infinite God and of ourselves as his cherished children..."not needing" to consult almanacs (paraphrase of MBE) to discover how much of a man we are...or needing to consult a clock or calendar to determine if we have "spent enough time," or if our prayer is effective, or if we need to "start over" because it is a new day. Yippee! We are living and moving and having our being in this infinite all loving God now and forever as Paul has told us. Paul also tells us That he put things behind him and he was headed for the prize of the high calling of God which is ours NOW, free from any error because there is no error in our dear God. Dear Christ Jesus tells us that "Now is the accepted time." There is much healing to be gained from continued prayerful consideration your great topic. Thanks again!

Lovely -- 10/18/12
This past week I, too, received a call from someone for inspiration on a matter of concern to them. After listening, the idea of time: as in the definition in the Glossary of Science and Health With Key to the Scripture by Mary Baker Eddy came to me to share. Time as only a mortal measurement. In reality there is no time. The caller said: "That's it! Thank you." How often that truth has been demonstrated -- years ago working as a legal secretary, constant "rush jobs" either for court or clients who needed the work done "yesterday"! Also with family when we seemed to be "running late" -- the understanding acknowledgement of that truth brought us where we needed to be when we needed to be there with no inconvenience to others as well as eliminating short tempers due to fear of "being late" consequences.
Many thanks for this timely Lift.

A couple of weeks ago I listened to a talk by a lovely young woman, a Hopi Indian; and she expressed this thought of living only in the now, without past or future. She said this is the belief of her tribe.
All of us can connect with the now, live in the now, and enjoy it without regret for what was, or may or may not happen in the future.
This verse is meaningful to me:
Eccl 3:15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
Thank you John.

This is a special message to Steve Hopewell in NJ: Thank you for your response to me, #71, in yesterday's Daily Lift. That meant so much to me. For the past several months I have been writing down comments from the Daily Lifts that have been especially helpful to me, and I keep these next to my computer. Ever since I read an article by Nate Talbot in the Christian Science Sentinel of Aug. 30, 2010, titled HOW LONG, I have had a different perspective of time. In part, Mr. Talbot wrote:
"... underlying any loss is the question of time. When will we once more be whole, happy, at peace, trusted, pure? We have the same thoughts the Psalmist had several thousand years ago when he pleaded, "How long. ... O Lord ... how long?" ( Ps. 13:1).
Mary Baker Eddy introduced a radically different way to deal with this age-old question. She felt we needed to think of time from a profoundly fresh standpoint. In fact, she equated time with matter (see Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 595), and she consistently rejected matter as any part of God's, Spirit's, infinite reality."

When asked, Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is within us. Christian Science hymn 391 reads, “Why search the future and the past?
Yes, why searching for paradise far off?
God’s image has but to summon those qualities that identify us with our Father to see that time is not part of the eternity we dwell in.
The purpose of the past is only to be a lesson learned.
“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? Isaiah 43:18, 19
Isaias 43:18, 19

Great message to be in the NOW or moment. Not easy to do.
My grandmother was a CS practitioner who had an office in downtown Pittsburgh. My most cherished memories are of visits with her in that beautiful city. I felt the most Love in my life from her. I know it came from God and she reflected it all back. It felt amazing.
Mary Baker Eddy states:
SH 14:12
Become conscious for a single moment that Life and
intelligence are purely spiritual, — neither in nor of
matter, — and the body will then utter no
complaints. If suffering from a belief in
sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well. Sorrow
is turned into joy when the body is controlled by
spiritual Life, Truth, and Love.
Truth, Wisdom, Love and Sincerity, to ALL mankind.

Thank you, John for reminding me of the eternal presence of Now.
That time does not really exist is proved by the coexistence of God and Man. Time was not needed to create man. God knew that it was already done. We also can do away with space by coincidence. By accepting that all things God created are present together and at the same time makes it easier to know that we exist within the Now that has no need of time or space to reach. I am comforted by this infinite fact and can stop trying to strive for anything.

Days, weeks, months, years, all seem to be speeding along due to having to produce products with demanding "deadlines" for our clients. Constantly looking at a calendar and looking at what "time" it is because "if it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done"! Ha! Ha! Ha! This is all certainly the mortal picture, isn't it. But, I'm so grateful that my husband calls me before 5:00 everyday to tell me, "Honey, it's time to come home!"
A wonderful phrase from a hymn in the CS Hymnal (pardon that I don't know the actual #) fills my heart with peace - "God is working his purpose out, as year succeeds to year. God is working HIS purpose out, and the time is drawing near...Nearer, and nearer draws the time, the time that shall surely be - When the earth shall be filled with the Glory of God, as the waters cover the sea."
There are over 100 comments on your lift today (and thank you all for these pearls of prayer). Mine, too, a drop in the bucket, but, as the waters cover the sea, one drop at a time...one more conscious effort to awaken thought to the timeless reality we live in NOW!

To #77,
Thank you profoundly…
How dear you must be Jayne...
From the bible:
Having eyes see ye not?
And
Having ears hear ye not?
Fight the good fight of faith,
For thy Maker is thine husband, and if God be wed to you, that is never dissolved, nor is the manifestation of the idea 'husband' ever lost wherever and whenever it is applied in "all His holy mountain."
And your faith being "the substance of things hoped for, " you can rest assured your son "is as a plant grown up" in his youth, and as "a corner stone "polished after the similitude of a palace." Psalm 144 (you should read and dig into the entire Psalm, both you and the Sweet Psalmist of Israel, are yearning for the same thing!)
Also the first sect of this week's Lesson is perfect for you…actually, the entire Lesson is great, esp cit 29 of S&H
With love only and humility...

Dear Steve (#108),
Wow, your kindness has really touched me. You have moved me to tears (tears of gratitude!). I immediately read the wonderful Sentinel article that you attached in your link. I will have to read it again as it was very helpful to me. And, yes, the Lesson this week is great. Now I will go study Ps. 144.
I hope you know how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With love and gratitude,

Ha. Great timing! Thanks, John, for this wonderful Lift and for a 'spiritual coincidence'. I had just retrieved online Nate Talbot's 'How long?' from the Aug 30, 2010 Sentinel, before I noticed your Lift. It's the article referred to at #79 by Kathleen, México. [Please would someone post the link up for any interested non-subscribers, as I'm not sure how to do it?]

Wow! Thanks john for this powerful reminder. It is interesting that even if many of us pray every day to better understand Love's constant guidance in our lives, it is hard to get away from past and future planning. Breaking free from time also makes me realize that there is no "free time" either, just freedom, since when time is "broken", what is left? eternity, now.

In this very moment there is only the one mind seeing all it's whole and complete infinite creations. Being GOD'S creations, possessing only the one MIND that knows all we can not be lacking anything essential to the present moment. We get into trouble when we recall too much the past or a future that sometimes even only minutes away that is not here yet. Let us know that Divine Mind is always in charge of everyone and everything. Painting good thoughts and abilities in everyone, everything all working seemingly magically together to accomplish good everywhere.
My weekly study words were space, time, now, and obedience.
Thanks all

for this great lift.

- 10/18/2012What a timely and uplifting message.

- 10/18/2012I have been explaining to my son-in-law Simon, that there is no time, only the joy and harmony of Now! We live and move and breathe at God's direction,
Thank you so much Nate and the team; the Board of Lectureship and the lecturers; and the immortal Daily Lifters dwelling at peace in eternity.

- 10/18/2012Thank you for this thought, "Breaking free of time." It gives us something to think about and share with friends.

- 10/18/2012Thank you, John, for “Breaking free of time … imagine if you woke up today in a world without time … just the now … no past failures or successes … no future to worry about … what incredible freedom …” This fits in perfectly with what I’ve been learning about The Way that Jesus lived and that we are called to follow.

- 10/18/2012Amazing lift John.

- 10/18/2012I hope I can express my concept of time.

- 10/18/2012The concept of time is nothing more than M.A.M.

- 10/18/2012I love the expansion of the idea from the Daily lift yesterday found here today. I am complete, whole and without the baggage of all that the past and or future would indicate. I love the idea of letting go of all that. That is not what defines me. It is the completeness of the present. That is what counts-the wonderful offerings that I may find now, today.God offers tremendous blessings for us all. - 10/18/2012HI John, and thank you so much for this NOWness and the relinquishing of the finite sense of time.

- 10/18/2012Lovely -- 10/18/12

- 10/18/2012A couple of weeks ago I listened to a talk by a lovely young woman, a Hopi Indian; and she expressed this thought of living only in the now, without past or future.

Thank you for all that you share.
Blessings to all.

- 10/18/2012Ever since I read an article by Nate Talbot in the Christian Science Sentinel of Aug.

- 10/18/2012When asked, Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is within us.

- 10/18/2012That is such a helpful thought. Free of time would mean freedom from the beliefs of regret, dread, aging and forgetting. All we need to know is the now and all we need to remember are eternal truths.

- 10/18/2012Thank you, John.

- 10/18/2012Thank you, John for reminding me of the eternal presence of Now.

- 10/18/2012Wow! What a concept! This has so many applications. I don't have to worry about not having enough time to prepare for an upcoming job interview. I don't have to worry about my future employment, or lack of employment. There is only the now which is already blessed by God. Thank you!

- 10/18/2012Awesome John! Thank you so much for your direct and "not wasting any time to get to the point" message.
Nancy from W. Virginia

- 10/18/2012To #77,
Thank you profoundly…
Here's a link to a Sentinel article that has really helped me:
http://sentinel.christianscience.com/shared/view/20q5jhws506?s=f
Also the first sect of this week's Lesson is perfect for you…actually, the entire Lesson is great, esp cit 29 of S&H
With love only and humility...

- 10/19/2012Dear Steve (#108),
Wow, your kindness has really touched me.
With love and gratitude,
Jayne

- 10/19/2012Ha.
The link has been added to #79.

- 10/19/2012Thank you !!! I love hymn 391, too. Frequently I spend hours reading and praying - it is so
freein. Family members lovingly say I need more sleep. I reply "The consciousness of Truth
rests us (me) more than hours of repose in unconsciousness" S&H.

- 10/19/2012Thank you, John and Nate and the BOL and all, right NOW.

- 10/19/2012This is the best gift ever... as today, I have nearly forgotten that it is my "birthday "... as I grow to understand our true reality "now", i am realizing, man has no material history, but we have the eternal now, with no past amd no future to ever ponder. Thank you!!!!!!!!!! God is always speaking to me, and all, Her precious little ones.

- 10/20/2012Wow!

- 12/7/2012In this very moment there is only the one mind seeing all it's whole and complete infinite creations.
Thanks all
WITH LOVE FOR ALL ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE !
