Ha! How true! Thank you to all who contributed to this Lift. The animation is so witty, and the Scottish intro a wry touch too. Most of all, thank you, Mary, for sharing the insight that we always can choose to not enter the illusion. Instead, we can choose to act according to God's script.

I have been at peace all today in my Garden, working in my outside office!!!!

Life is not a nightmare or a bad movie, Life is God. We are God’s image and likeness, God’s very thought, that’s why is so important to watch our thoughts and choose what we let in.
“Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously. .. then perform your office as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears” S&H 392:24. Only then we’ll see harmony at work in our lives. “The calm and exalted thought or spiritual apprehension is at peace. Thus the dawn of ideas goes on, forming each successive stage of progress” S&H 506:11

Many thanks Mary for those inspiring thoughts to open our eyes. Yes. "Peace is recovered by deeper calm thought about genuine reality." "Open now our eyes to see,/ As the clouds of sense are riven,/ We behold reality,/ Know the glory of Thy [Love's] heaven;" (Christian Science Hymnal #85).

Thank you for the lovely lift and the lovely animation - a good thought for the day.
A statement from S&H is something I work with frequently, and it is so helpful.
"When the illusion of sin or sickness tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust that the recognition of life harmonious, as Life eternally is, can destroy any false sense of or belief in that which Life is not. Let Christian Science instead of corporeal sense support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony." ( I quote from memory, so it may not be word perfect!)
I love the idea of clinging steadfastly to God and His idea - rather like a fretful child might cling to its Mother or Father to find a sense of peace and reassurance. This statement turns the whole dream or nightmare around so that we can find the perfect spiritual reality revealed for us and for those we want to help.
Coming to understand that all the claims of sin, sickness or whatever is troubling us is nothing but illusion - "a bit ballooned up lie" as I read somewhere in an article, we can find ourselves free. An illusion has no reality and no power over us when we realise that that is all it is.

CyS, MBE

Thanks for the labour that must have gone into this animation! It is a fun way to remind us of the value of magnifying the good in our lives. In Sunday School, I like to put a magnifying glass in the hand of each child in turn and ask them to tell of some good thing in their life recently. This focus on good is refreshing and often shifts their thought to be grateful.

Looking behind the material curtain! Wonderful!
It reminds me to an event many years ago - it was at a fasching-party, and my costume was " being a punk-girl" with all the requisites, like a funny colored and wild hairstyle, leather-jacket, shredded colorfully painted t-shirt etc..
I had great fun! It was the time of the "punks" here in Europe, and I loved their music.
The people on that party were all Christian scientists - and nearly everbody asked me why I didn´t have a costume...?? - well, they were all thinking that costume was part of me- although it wasnt.
I was never dressed in that way before - and I had to smile, it seemed that I could plausibly play that role.
But the lesson I have learned out of that was - dont trust a picture, a mask or well played action-
one should always be open for the spiritual view, through our calm and clear christian vision. And then we are able to see the reality...behind the scene.

Great metaphor, Mary. Thank you for helping us to see more easily that we can choose our own scripts, our own movies -- that God is our scriptwriter. There is good wherever we look, if we choose to look for it. In reality, as God's perfect expressions, we can only see good.

Thank you so much Mary. How easy it is to get swept along with the pathos and heartbreak of whatever is up there on the big screen. I remember one of our great actresses being interviewed about her role, which portrayed extreme privation and suffering at a supposed time of inhumanity, and when asked if it didn't affect her in any way, she just smiled and said "At the end of the day I just remove the mask and go home to my family." There was no blurring of reality and illusion there. I love how we are taught always to start with God, and then relate all good directly to Him and always with gratitude. Mrs Eddy says in Science and Health". . . to understand God is the work of eternity, and demands absolute consecration of thought, energy, and desire." That leaves no time at all to wonder what's behind a closed doorway.
Thank you Nate and the production crew; the BoL and lecturers; and our Lift family who are quick to discern between the real and the illusion.

Good on Ya, Mary! Love the Aussie Flavor today and all the Comments from Australia! I was having lunch with a friend yesterday who had been preparing for a trip overseas to a certain country and was leaving the next day. She told me how she had been on the InterNet reading Blogs by others who had visited this country and they were recounting various fears and bad stories of being robbed, etc. She felt such a sense of Fear about going to this country, that she actually thought of changing her destination! Then she woke up and realized that these were just the fears of other people being expressed. I reminded her not to "buy into someone else's dream" and how we have the power to bring our own Light and Love with us wherever we go! Although she is not a C.S., I was able to talk to her in a way that she could "get" and she realized that it's our own thought that determines our experience. We read in this week's Bible Lesson that Spirit is supreme over all material pictures or illusions! So Grateful for this Lift and for the Bible Lesson this week! Love the music this week, too!

Mary, Thank you so much for this... This is similar to how often if someone tries to voice, "lack, lack, lack" - it's so easy to turn instantaneously to "abundance". Can Love be limited, confined, restricted, cease? No! It's just not possible. Can Mind, intelligence be limited? No! Thinking on a simple concept like a home - how many varied expressions are there of a home throughout the world? And these are always being added. It is SO possible to think in the spiritual realm of all that is provided for us. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for this again-reminder of this idea!

What a good lift, and the visuals support the message so well. Thanks to commentators, too. I am reminded that once a Christian Science practitioner was helping me pray through a complicated time of grief, and she said something along these lines: "Fear or human will may try to hand you a script, but you don't have to read it or act it out." That thought was very helpful then, and still is.

Thank you, Mary! In our family, we took to saying about life's various dramas, "It's only a movie!" But it's right also to replace the movie with the spiritual reality and live there, and not get fascinated and caught up with the colorful and embroiling fictions that can confuse and upset us. To be able to be of use to other, we have to completely divorce the movie dialogue with Love's glorious reality. I love this idea!

I love the video. It's very Christly to meet the need of the individual. A video version is just another way of meeting an individual's need.

- 1/30/2012Many thanks Mary for those inspiring thoughts to open our eyes. Yes. "Peace is recovered by deeper calm thought about genuine reality." "Open now our eyes to see,/ As the clouds of sense are riven,/ We behold reality,/ Know the glory of Thy [Love's] heaven;" (Christian Science Hymnal #85).

- 1/30/2012Thank you for the lovely lift and the lovely animation - a good thought for the day.

CyS, MBE

- 1/30/2012'Watching out for acts of goodness' - I think I'll choose to start from this joyful premise, and stay with it. That will provide a good viewpoint to assess various scenarios through my day.
The whole Lift is very helpful and the examples will stay with me - thank you Mary.

- 1/30/2012Yes, and the beautiful Lesson Sermon today, subject Spirit, let's us into the vista of seeing that we are truly reflections in the mirror of God, our activities are spiritual reflections of Life, and Love. Our 'film', our lives, are authored by God. Isn't that great?! Thank you so much for the film, the delightful soundtrack too.

- 1/30/2012Thanks for the labour that must have gone into this animation! It is a fun way to remind us of the value of magnifying the good in our lives. In Sunday School, I like to put a magnifying glass in the hand of each child in turn and ask them to tell of some good thing in their life recently. This focus on good is refreshing and often shifts their thought to be grateful.

- 1/30/2012Looking behind the material curtain!
- well, they were all thinking that costume was part of me- although it wasn
t.t trust a picture, a mask or well played action-I was never dressed in that way before - and I had to smile, it seemed that I could plausibly play that role.
But the lesson I have learned out of that was - don
one should always be open for the spiritual view, through our calm and clear christian vision. And then we are able to see the reality...behind the scene.

- 1/30/2012Great metaphor, Mary. Thank you for helping us to see more easily that we can choose our own scripts, our own movies -- that God is our scriptwriter. There is good wherever we look, if we choose to look for it. In reality, as God's perfect expressions, we can only see good.

- 1/30/2012Thank you so much Mary.

- 1/30/2012Good on Ya, Mary!

- 1/30/2012Mary, Thank you so much for this...

- 1/30/2012What a good lift, and the visuals support the message so well. Thanks to commentators, too. I am reminded that once a Christian Science practitioner was helping me pray through a complicated time of grief, and she said something along these lines: "Fear or human will may try to hand you a script, but you don't have to read it or act it out." That thought was very helpful then, and still is.

- 1/30/2012This DLift has set the stage for my day. I am meeting CS friend for lunch and thought I would unload all my challenges to her. Not now. It isn't true for me so why tell her lies about me. We have mutual blessings to share.

- 1/30/2012What a wonderfully light-hearted (vs. dark-hearted)way of looking at an important subject, that of NOT buying into illusory drama . . .I am so very grateful for this Lift. And I thoroughly enjoyed the new music. And many thanks for all the comments, especially Margaret #35.

- 1/30/2012Thanks so much for this lift today! I had to listen twice to fully get everything you were saying. Relating life and choices to a movie...is a clear metaphor I feel. Thanks so much for the graphics and this message of the power of Truth.

- 1/30/2012Thank you Mary!! Exactly what we all need to remember "The calm and exalted thought or spiritual apprehension is at peace" from the chapter of Genesis - The creation is constant calm expression of God's goodness, isn't it? Much love to friends of Daily Lift!!

Thank you.
Perfect message for today. Look beneath the outward material picture of the soap opera or drama which is presenting an illusion. It comes to us for life. Don't get pulled into the illusion.
God's goodness is the reality expressed in calm and exalted thought.
God is the director and the direction.

- 1/30/2012Thank you, Mary!

- 1/30/2012Mary, how wonderful! As are the preceding comments. I got to this late in the day so the Lift plus the comments has been a real treasure trove of good scripts. And I was struck by #49's comment, too - one with which I can identify. Thanks to Mary and all of the responders.

- 1/30/2012Mary, and all those who make our DL possible, thanks, gracias, merci, etc. What a breath of fresh air and so easy to share.
My husband makes TV commercials, and he often reminds me of their scripted bais, the setting up of scenes with actors, props, etc. It's always powerful to be reminded that the reports of the 5 senses are illusions, not actual or binding.

- 1/30/2012We do have a choice...let's choose not to get caught up in the drama of the mortal scene. I will play this lift several times to pick up on all the points presented. Thank you, Mary! Also, thanks to Robin, #22 for the Sunday School suggestion. I really like that idea and will use it at an appropriate time. Thank you to all the people involved in making this wonderful production each day. I look forward to viewing this each day to start my day and have learned so much from the presenters and the commenters.

- 1/30/2012I love the video. It's very Christly to meet the need of the individual. A video version is just another way of meeting an individual's need. I remember when the Christian Science Monitor adopted color. Folks had trouble with the transition from black&white to color. An artist friend of mine told me that "color is just more information". Keep up the good work! Your creativity moves us all forward!
