Mary Baker Eddy, says in S&H page 176, "Human fear of miasma would load with disease the air of Eden, and weigh down mankind with superimposed and conjectural evils. Mortal mind is the worst foe of the body, while divine Mind is its best friend." We never have to fear disease, in fact fear is what gives it its only reality!

I shall walk humbly with this Lift, John, thank you..we cannot be hypnotized into believing that mortal mind has power to dictate any activity; all activity is the province of the one Mind, even God, good..

Tonight I was just working at a men's support group of spiritual but not religious believes when one of the leaders shared his feelings on the same wavelength as yours(though a bit spicier in nature) it really IS obvious to all thinkers that the medical scare tactics are absurd and not healing.

When most of us hear the word "contagious", have a negative meaning in mind. The ethimology of this word comes from latin, "con" means: together; "tag" means: touch. I learned as a child to give a positive meaning to this word. If bad mood can be contagious, then I can have a contagious smile. If somebody's sneeze can bring something bad to me, I'll be faster and touch this person's mind with contagious Love and contagious Life.
I am working on it these days, because I got bad mood last year and I kept it for a long time. I forgot that evil can loud, but better than Love. A slap is louder than a hug, but hugs do better to everybody. If "love reflects love", then I will start loving more.
Having my daily prayer strengths my mind, my soul like vitamins, then I will keep praying if bad thoughts are trying to touch me and make me think they can stay. I will see God's perfection in everyone. God loves each of us, then I can do so too.

Thanks John for this timely reminder to lift our thought out of the atmosphere of disease being present at certain seasons. Isn't it astrology to accept that we are more vunerable when the Earth is in a certain position in relation to the Sun? No one can doubt that bacteria expresses movement and therefore life as seen under a microscope. But in that lies the truth. In as much as these tiny life forms exopress life, to that extent they express God, the origin of Life , and they are thereby rendered harmless. The theories of mortal thought cannot travel as Mrs Eddy tells us"like wandering pollen,from one human mind to another, finding unsuspected lodgment, if virtue and truth build a strong defence."

"Take my every thought, to use/ In the way that Thou shalt choose./ Take my love; O Lord, I pour/ At Thy feet its treasure store./ I am Thine, and I will be/ Ever, only, all for Thee." Is time for a firm, NO, again to the media's attempt to scare us. Flu season? No, a season to prove that God loves us and is ever present, everywhere!

God knows no sickly seasons of any kind. Just about every night I affirm that God does not cause colds, flu, coughs, sore throats or any other kind of malady. He doesn't cause them, and He doesn't know them, and He is All-in-all. They have no real existence, and therefore they cannot touch me or anyone else. Infinite Love leaves no space for anything unlike God, good, to exist, and they are ruled out by the might of Mind.

I love Pat's (No. 11) ideas - particularly that 'a slap is louder than a hug, and hugs do better to everybody'.

A neighbor called me this morning to inform me that a gentleman who was to join us for dinner had been taken to the hospital. There was the claim that he had a blood infection. As I hung up the phone, the first thought that came to my mind was a single phrase my Mother had written on a piece of paper decades ago. I found it in 1975 after her passing, while I sorted through her belongings.It calmed my thought at once. It read simply-" there is no infection in the reflection of perfection."

Your Lift has helped me tp take a more radical stand against the subtle lie of contagious disease. I think I had partly believed it.

John, Thank you very much for a very simple, useful, thorough approach for the prevention and cure of disease, particularly flu. It reminds me to an incident which happened very recently. A friend whom Im meeting regularly for our monthly lunch-talk, was not feeling well and he was not at work for a week. He told me that he is suffering from a very severe cold for nearly two months - and that he had get that by contagion, he is working with a lot of people. After our lunch he felt much worse and while he was saying goodbye - he looked at me and said firmly: " and you are immune!" That was more a statement than a question - and he paused. A bit irritated I answered: Yes! - The next thought was: he is immune as well, he is not excluded of Gods care. Next day he was back at work, feeling so much better.

Our acceptance of God´s law is our immunity.

Great Lift! I Loved the comments too. The bigger the error, the more we should not believe it. I agree with Pat, let us be contagiously happy, smiling, loving... And let us follow Mrs Eddy advice and stand porter, firmly saying NO to all thoughts that do not come from God. Blessings to all.

Your lift today meets my thinking about flew, because also in European countries the news in TV mention this seasonal invasion the same way. But it is so obvious, that there is no reality behind - it is a great business. Jesus "went daily about his Father's business (S&H p. 25). ..I was just reading this week's Bible Lesson on Life and wanted to share Mrs Eddy's scientific statements in S&H, “The transmission of disease or of certain idiosyncrasies of mortal mind would be impossible if this great fact of being were learned, — namely, that nothing inharmonious can enter being, for Life is God...if we learn that nothing is real but the right...fleshly ills will disappear.”

"Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action. Mind is the same Life, Love, and wisdom “yesterday, and to-day, and forever.”

Mortal mind “would wield the sceptre of a monarch, but it is powerless.” It has no authority and we can't be influenced by this lie robed in official apparel, because “In reality there is no mortal mind, and consequently no transference of mortal thought and will-power. Life and being are of God. In Christian Science, man can do no harm, for scientific thoughts are true thoughts, passing from God to man.”

The finger on my right hand is getting a lot of excercise muting all of the drug related ads and news commentaries on diseases - especially flu and cancer on TV. This is just the added inspiration I need in praying for my son-in-law who has what doctors have declared an incurable internal infection. This is wonderful, refreshing, and a healthy reminder of our divine right and power to stand porter at the door of thought.

For those with JSH-Online subscriptions, there is a wonderful article titled "Protection" in the 1964 Journal, by Basil John Hargreaves. In it, Mr. Hargreaves writes, "The reason for this total immunity is this: because "the secret place of the most High" is the only true dwelling place of man, God's likeness, he cannot in fact dwell anywhere else. He is therefore not exposed to mortal existence, since all the Life that there is or can be is the Most High, or God".

How interesting that disease has “seasons”. Sort of like Duck hunting season? Well, probably more like Snipe hunting season…a Snipe being the imaginary creature that children are duped into hunting with bags and sticks on a dark night. Once the fable is exposed, the snipe season is over.

How wonderful that Mrs Eddy exposed disease as "illusion of mortal mind". No one is catching Snipes. Even if we think we have one in the bag, so to speak, we must open the bag and humbly accept that we have caught nothing. Mortal based thinking hates to admit it is wrong, but often it is and we just have to say NO when it is dreaming up a Snipe season.

Thanks for the lift and comments. We can swim against the current of mortal mind suggestion into the peaceful waters of divine LOVE. Mrs. Eddy writes "My Mind is divine good, which cannot drift into evil." How timely dear John! i am not a CS, though people know about my ":uncoventional" ways. I prefer not to speak to others about my choices or beliefs about health issues. A couple of days ago at work one of my co-workers, in a matter of fact way, commented how ridiculous it is that people do not vaccinate "against the flu". Initially i had misunderstood her opening statement, and i had volunteered that i do not get vaccinated. She added firmly that people are not thinking of others (the community) when they do not vaccinate their children. i "retire" to my listening accepting mode and soon we were both involved with the visiting students. But, the sense of being "unusual and off mainstream" lingered in my being. I am so grateful then for this timely DL!

Only good governs, only love influences each of God's ideas-- which include each one of us. This message from the Christian Science hymnal #144 frees us from all fear! That is my focus today--to see the image and influence of the qualities of God in each person and action resulting in --well being, harmony, goodness, love and peace.

So true! There is no disease! We need to stay alert and reverse the lie that there is any unhealthy atmosphere or person! We live move and have our being in God! We live in the atmosphere of health and harmony always! There's no escaping that! I have found this to be an impervious armor to sickness of every kind!

This lift is so timely for my family! My husband and I woke up this morning and we independently came to the same conclusion regarding one of our businesses. Dump it and move on. It was not profitable and causing us much frustration. We had been praying about it and God spoke to us both. So when I saw that the Daily Lift was entitled "Just say no" I felt as though that is what God just directed us to do! Perfect timing! Thank you, John. We have wonderful opportunities every day to say "no" to anything that does not reveal our highest good.

And we are empowered to see right through the mesmeric suggestions that try to make us afraid. "what do I do" to resist the inFLUences of the carnal mind......seek Christ; touch but the hem of

Science & Health strengthens this truth by stating that this so-called (carnal) mind would wield the sceptre of a monarch, (try to take over the kingddom) but it is powerless!

"Denial of the claims of matter is a great step towards

This is the best "flu shot" out there.
I remember being afflicted with a very painful condition and I struggled with a suggestion to use a material remedy. I emphatically declared "That's not my way!"
The pain yielded instantly and totally. For me it was feeling the presence of the Christ and his way.
Mrs. Eddy also describes it as "..the solvent of Love..." (S&H pg. 242) for which there is an infinite supply. I love drinking in the solvent of Love from this Daily Lift. It is good for my immune system.

I am reminded of many years ago when the "swine flu" was the talk of the nation. All weRe encouraged to "get the shot". MY HUSBAND WAS NOT A CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST AND FINALLY INSISTED THAT OUR THREE CHILDREN GET THE SHOTS WHICH WERE OFFERED IN OUR TOWN. I RELUCTANTLY SAID "O.K." AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED PRAYING AND ESPECIALLY READING SCIENCE AND HEALTH...NOT ONLY TO PROTECT THEM FROM THE SHOT, BUT TO SEE THE UNREALITY OF THE FEAR OF FLU. BEFORE HE COULD SCHEDULE A TIME IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS TO TAKE THE KIDS, IT WAS ANNOUNCED THE EPIDEMIC HAD PASSED AND FLU SHOTS WERE NO LONGER NEEDED. I WAS VERY GRATEFUL AND STILL AM GRATEFUL FOR THE DEMONSTRATION.

It amazes me that so many mindlessly accept these "predictions". How can a prediction of an illness be made and yet it is presented as fact? No one seems to question the source of this kind of threat put out to public thought. Science and Health states, "The time for thinkers has come." We are a world of thinkers and not mindless victims!
A friend shared with me that "flu" comes from the word influenza which is routed in the word "influence". We can all know that we live, move and breathe in God! Divine Mind is all that influences us and divine Mind never made an evil element to threaten His idea, man.

At this point in time, the media has found more and more ways to spread their point of view about illness/contagion, And an ad for a pill to take, along with It's side affects. No matter what is said to all the viewers, it is a false "belief", which breeds FEAR! As each of us puts on our full armor of God, all Good, all Life, all Truth, all Love, we can counteract this awful belief and KNOW, not only for ourselves, but for All of God's children.....God is the only ONE, and is in control of all He/She created...so, there is nothing but perfection around each one of us. We are created by God, and because this is True, we can Know that He is protecting us from every thought which does not originate in Him. If it is not good, it is not from God, and we do not need to think about it. Keep sickly thoughts out of your consciousness, and you will find yourself well!!! In this way, you are applying this Truth..."Ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free" (John viii, 32). This IS the knowledge which covers us over in God's Love and protection from EVERY form of fear/disease!!! And we can exclaim ...Taint so!!!! Thank you Father Mother God for loving us, protecting and guiding us, and for speaking every Truth we need to hear, ever so softly and constantly to our spiritual consciousness. "I will listen for thy voice, lest my footsteps stray; I will follow and rejoice, all the rugged way." ( hymn 304-309, 'Feed My Sheep', by Mary Baker Eddy)

I'm so pleased you put this out as a daily lift today! We talked about this whole fear tactic at our Wednesday evening meeting. During our time for sharing, we realized that man cannot be duped into feeling threatened. Our rejection of any error that would promote fear, followed by our prayer and steadfastness to man's inseparability from good, is a powerful way to love our fellow man. This kind of love is so inclusive, it breaks the chain of matter-based theories that incite helplessness and supports empowerment of purpose and well being.

The Truth's in today's Wonderful Lift and the many healing comments opened my thinking to see, that the news reports about the only way to stop the horrible shootings, is if there are no guns and we can figure out what to do about the "unstable" ones. No word mentioned, at all, about the medications these people are taking and the Horrible side effects, voices in their heads, telling them what to do. Because the media is not mentioning this very important Fact, everyone is running in circles, trying to solve a huge problem, without all the correct Facts....therefore, not Able to reach a human solution!! There IS a solution though! When everyone can learn What God's Truth IS, about His Creation, all will be Well! A lie, "seems" to be truth, as long as it is believed...so, challenge yourself to look farther into what you are believing, examine it's source. If from beneath, human, matter based, material thought, BEWARE, but if from the correct source, God, Spirit, All Truth, Life and Love, you will discover Truth...God created his children, perfect, whole and complete. Never sick, deranged, capable of doing anything bad, and if confused about this Truth and feeling the need for "mind altering" drugs; even there are we protected because All Power belongs to God!! God does not make a single thing that would make His child ill....mortal, human mind has come up with that belief; so, if unbelieved by God's citizens of the world, will melt away with the morning dew.

Thanks John. It was timely and clear. IT is this simple telling of Truth that faces down error. Thank you for lifting thought above the mortal, material fray that seems to impress our dear brethren all over the world. It is not their thought as it does not come from God. Whether it is the belief of a contagious flu or aides, they are no more real than a belief that horses fly.

2nd Submission: As I've been praying with the spiritual insights shared in this Lift, I have felt a "Lift shift" in consciousness that has toned my spiritual muscles and strengthened my sense of dominion RE: overcoming evil with Good. :-) I've been inspired to consider "I’m perfect. God loves me. And that’s that." in this way: God doesn't love me because I'm perfect. I'm perfect because God loves me. Our perfection is one and the same as God's love/Love-itself! We are God's perfect love being made manifest as God's image and likeness. That's our "impermeable armor from all evil!" "And that's that." :-) Thanks again!

Healing in CS is permanent. Once seen through as illusion, one can never believe an error real again. A wonderful healing of flu and colds took place for me in 1964, and causes me unceasing gratitude. Not only was I healed in one treatment, my children were free from them also, and never missed school with these common beliefs. Earlier, the two oldest were healed of a so-called children's disease, and none of the others ever experienced any of those maladies. What an imposition to label such as belonging to children.

What a wonderful bundle of Truth and Love!!! I haven't read all of these DL, but I will continue tomorrow. These are exactly what I needed, as we live in a Masonic Home and it seems to be rampant here, but I'm just "eating these up" and making note of all the Truth to counteract by "there is no infection in the reflection of perfection.
And there are so many more, I am drinking it all in. No transmission of disease for God's perfection.
