Thank you Michelle for this very helpful Lift. When we take the time to pray we are establishing God's governance, the atmosphere of "Love abiding" where all spiritual ideas are in obedience to the Christ. As this is unfolding in consciousness we see the human scene begin to align itself more closely to the divine. We become witnesses to the ever-operative Christ in action, where in the words of hymn 144,145 in the C/S Hymnal describe so beautifully, "In atmosphere of Love divine, We live, and move, and breathe;"

Thank you, Michelle, for “Sweet smelling savor … simple willingness … everyone around picks up the scent.” Love it! Reminds me of a new co-worker of many years ago. On her first day, she stopped in my office to introduce herself. We chatted for a while and as she was leaving, I offered my usual, “Have a great day!” She turned and said, “Thanks. I’m also going to GIVE a great day!” For the years we worked together, we would daily exchange and follow-up on that little promise of “simple willingness.” What fun to witness the rise from “grumpiness” into “rejoicing and gladness!” And to think, it's all just as close as a prayer!

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the holidays is good to remember that nothing real is going on but God's presence.
When I am shopping away from home, especially among a lot of people, I find an oasis in the words of CS hymn #20,
"Be true and list the voice within,
Be true unto thy high ideal,
Thy perfect self, that knows no sin,
That self that is the only real"
Love, the "only real", exhales the sweet smelling fragrance of peace and Love that makes it all right.

Dear Michelle, thank you again for this beautiful, simple, healing 'Lift' - so often we look for the big, dramatic healings, when this reminds us that God is healing, conforming to His image of loving harmony, whenever we turn our thought to Him, i every place and all the time! I love the way you have described it as a sweet smelling savour - a purifier of atmosphere! Thank you so much, once more.

Michelle's experience reminds of an an interview which I heard on BBC radio in England.
Some years ago a famous actress who was also a Christian Scientist was going through immigration at an airport when she was confronted by a very argumentative immigration official. She asked herself what her re-action should be.
After seeing this man as God was seeing him she had these ideas:
"What you are saying are not really your thoughts so no wonder you want to get rid of them. They are not my thoughts so I am not going to accept them as mine. Since these thoughts do not belong to either of us they cannot affect either of us."
The actress recalled how quickly the atmosphere changed to one of helpfulness and calm. She was soon through the airport having benefitted both their days.
Thank you Michelle for reminding me of this incident and giving me the opportunity to share it.

Many thanks Michelle for this inspiring reminder. Yes. "Prayer enables us to get everything done with joy and inspired energy." "Every prayer to Him is answered,/ Prayer confiding in His will;/ Blessedness and joy are near thee,/ Hear His gentle Peace, be still." (Christian Science Hymnal #76).

Love thy neighbour as thyself....what a big lesson this is...and how honestly described in this lift, thank you, and thank you lifters for the thoughts which keep the lifting around the globe...beautiful. I love the 'check out' as a reminder of what to do next..so often the clear thought or idea is right in front of us, prompting a good thought or spiritual statement to change our concept of what appears to be happening, raising our awareness to the clearer and freer view, from the perspective that divine Love governs all.

Merci, Michelle! I love the comment that prayer doesn't take time but a simple willingness to entertain sweet thoughts of God and our goodness as God's child (not exact quote). How precious is that! And as our textbook states: Love is reflected in Love! I have been thinking lately that our encounters with others are never accidental (there are no accidents in divine Science)and we are blessed/they are blessed in these encounters when we are spiritually grounded. EVEN at the grocery store!

Thank you, sweet Michelle! I, too, am experiencing of late that it really is all about my willingness to let God be in control of my life. After all, isn't God my Life itself? Who says I get to let my will run rampant and just do and say What I Want to Do and Say? Am I not here under a divine covenant to be the expression of God's Being? Is it really My Life or am I here to let God guide me into doing His/Her Work? I'm striving to let God's Being be expressed thru me and then the sweet smelling savor of His/Her Love will Bless Me and All I come in contact with in my daily walk. Yikes! Not easy! This takes Work and Prayer and a Willingness!

I am all bubbly with thankfulness for these DAILY LIFTS.They correct, teach and fixate one's spiritual thoughts for the day, so that the person thinking those thoughts would have a blessed day throughout. I too have to deal with grumpiness all around me, as I am cared for by 4 Nurse Aides not trained in C/S. But I am glad for the challenge, for, as they grump, I am forced to pray as taught in C/S. Then amazingly, oh! so to the onlookers, the grumpiness disappears into it's native nothiness. How simple and how profound is this to end inharmony for harmony.

Thank you for this Lift and especially for your candor. That hurried, grumpy state can escalate if not handled and it's so important to realize that handling it is in the moment - that simple willingness to shift thought, not a big prayer session some other time. That's because Love's allness is there already, like a lovely smell that won't let us deny it's presence for long, eh? Isn't it funny how we sometimes try to postpone our peace by making a project out of it? Not to say praying and studying to correct a pattern of grumpiness might not be in order, but the living of our inspiration is definitely moment by moment. I feel supported by the Lift and comments today to carry out this sweet savor into my day. Thank you all.

Michelle's waiting in line account made me remember a similar one I had before Christmas. All the Daily Lifts at that time were especially welcome. I decided to not just read the words but try make them practical. On a Monday morning I was in line at the Post Office with a package to be mailed. I knew it would be busy. The line was out the door. Out of a possible five counters only two were open. People would come and go through the process to open but then would walk away. One person seemed to be taking her time. People in line started grumbling. At some point the thought came to me that God was in this place. I heard the unhappy clerk tell the man who had at least twenty-five envelopes to be mailed that she had been the only person working the past Saturday. This day she had been there since 3:00 AM and wasn't supposed to be at the counter, but someone didn't show for work. The man with the envelopes chatted with her, helped by taping his own envelopes and looking up zip codes on his phone -- just quietly showing her she was appreciated. Her whole demeanor changed. The atmosphere in line improved and step by step everyone was helped. A simple thank you and treating people with respect can make such a difference. Thanks to all who share their experiences and inspiration, and the lectureres and staff who send along the Daily Lifts.

Thank you so much Michelle! I love your honesty, humor, and joyful clarity. I love all the Lifters comments. Bevi #31, you are on it! A dear practitioner recently told me that it takes great SPIRITUAL (her capitals) discipline to leave all for Christ. I am loving that, b/c sometimes it feels like we are having to try so hard. Once we acknowledge that it is the reflection of Spirit, and see that it is SPIRITUAL discipline, I find it takes on more of a do-able and exciting challenge to become willing in that childlike way. Jesus says that we must become as a little child to enter the kingdom, the recognition of this holy present harmony that is our rightful heritage.

Thank you Michelle for this sweet smelling lift. The word "escape" came to mind as you described your urge to find a way out of the unpleasant atmosphere in your line up. But instead of us escaping from a situation, we can let our Truth "deoderize" our surroundings. I recalled a line from Science and Health,
"An odor becomes beneficent and agreeable only in pro‐
portion to its escape into the surrounding atmosphere.
So it is with our knowledge of Truth." (pg. 128).
I've made it a habit whenever I'm in a line up to think of some nugget of Truth - to pray - and always have a "beneficent and agreeable" experience, and sometimes some healing adventures. Thanks for sharing yours, thanks for those on this lift for sharing theirs.

Whew!!! What a FANTASTIC DL!!! My husband and I live in an assisted living facility and I've just read about myself in what this Lift seemed to mirror my and my husband's exact reactions, comments, etc. It seems there are some residents take a LONG time to order their choice for meals, others do some other peculiarities. And there we stand with our remarks, instead of turning to God, and knowing that what appears to be "annoying" about this one person, really isn't. So, we will pray about this, and just express the Love of God and the Christ as opposed to criticizing. Thanks for the "wake-up call" to see Life as it really is. Full of Love and kindness. And thanks for all the DL and preparations to keep what Mrs. Eddy wanted to share with the world: God's Word.

- 1/15/2013Many thanks Michelle for this inspiring reminder. Yes. "Prayer enables us to get everything done with joy and inspired energy." "Every prayer to Him is answered,/ Prayer confiding in His will;/ Blessedness and joy are near thee,/ Hear His gentle Peace, be still." (Christian Science Hymnal #76).

- 1/15/2013Love thy neighbour as thyself....what a big lesson this is...and how honestly described in this lift, thank you, and thank you lifters for the thoughts which keep the lifting around the globe...beautiful. I love the 'check out' as a reminder of what to do next..so often the clear thought or idea is right in front of us, prompting a good thought or spiritual statement to change our concept of what appears to be happening, raising our awareness to the clearer and freer view, from the perspective that divine Love governs all.

- 1/15/2013My first thought when I woke this morning was to let God be in complete control of my day. I prayed along those lines for about a half hour before getting up. Then to find this beautiful lift further reminding me to watch my thinking that it be pure in all I do, see, and speak today. Thank you!

- 1/15/2013Merci, Michelle!

- 1/15/2013Thank you, sweet Michelle!

- 1/15/2013I am all bubbly with thankfulness for these DAILY LIFTS.They correct, teach and fixate one's spiritual thoughts for the day, so that the person thinking those thoughts would have a blessed day throughout.

- 1/15/2013Thank you for this Lift and especially for your candor.

- 1/15/2013Michelle, I love it! Especially "poignant" is the idea that we wouldn't think of going out without brushing our teeth - why do we go without refreshing our thoughts - taking a moment for sweetening prayer! I won't easily forget that!

- 1/15/2013Michelle's waiting in line account made me remember a similar one I had before Christmas.

- 1/15/2013Thank you so much Michelle!

- 1/15/2013Thank you Michelle for this sweet smelling lift.

- 1/15/2013"And Life most sweet from heart to heart, speaks kindly when we meet and part" ( CS Hymnal 30) A smile, a kind thought, seeing God's man as always perfect,

Thanks Michelle, and as always thanks for these wonderful Daily Lifts and the team that puts them together..

- 1/15/2013Thank you so much Michelle. Just imagine if we ALL lifted our thoughts by denying any disharmonious situation when confronted with one, and put in the TRUTH instead ,what an amazing difference we could make in the world! Yes! More prayer is always the answer!

- 1/15/2013To Jan #42 the famous actress who I heard was Joyce Grenfell and she was giving a five minute talk on a daily programme on BBC radio called Thought For The Day. There will be many in England who recall this programme although I'm not sure whether it is still on. It replaced an earlier wartime programme at 8.50 a.m each morning called Lift Up Your Hearts. - 1/15/2013Michelle, you have outed the most vicious thing that stands against our spirituality--whatever argues that we have no time to challenge our thoughts and whatever presents material mindedness VS perfect, healing and thought-raising ideas or a natural turning to commune with God. - 1/15/2013Whew!!!
