Thank you Evan for this important (and really cool) Lift. To love unselfishly is to declare the power of divine Love at work in our lives. It is expressing the love of Love- the love that has its origin in God. When we love as God loves we individualize spiritual power; bringing the gentleness of God's presence and power into our thoughts and actions. For in the beautiful words of Mary Baker Eddy, hymn number 30-32 of the C/S Hymnal, "Fed by Thy love divine we live, For Love alone is Life;"

When love is shared, it not only comes back in unexpected ways but most often in boodles and bunches! Bottom line tho? We love and are honest because it is natural to man to express these inherent qualities.

Thank you for this lovely Lift to start the day. The cartoon is fun and adds LIGHTness to this Monday morning.the talk immediately reminded me of M<rs Eddy's interpretation of the Lord's Prayer where, following the line 'give us this day our daily bread', Eddy gives the lovely clear meaning hhand Love is reflected in Love'.

The Golden Rule, "And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them likewise." Luke 6:31, ties nicely with the old saying, 'what goes around comes around.'
No wonder Jesus left us a new Commandment: "That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another" John 13:34
History repeats itself, this not only applies to bad things, but good things also come back to us.
Living spiritually is, undoubtedly, to think on God and His Commandments more often than any other thing ―Is a way of life.

Thanks for this lift in the understanding of supply. If we think of our true income as the incoming of good from God, our only true source of supply, we will see that we have no need to take from others. In fact this becomes impossible because each one of us is fully supplied with spiritual gifts by God and these cannot be taken from others. Our supply is based on the Bible promise:
"my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
and on Mrs Eddy's promise that we will have all we need every moment:
Mis 306:29
The Psalmist saith: "He shall give His angels charge
1 over thee." God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in
turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-
3 morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present
help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have
all you need every moment. What a glorious inheritance
6 is given to us through the understanding of omnipresent
Love! More we cannot ask: more we do not want:
more we cannot have.
Thank you again

Your story reminded me of an incident that happened many years ago when I was a college student. I had just arrived at a grocery store and was walking across the parking lot when I spotted something on the ground ahead of me. I walked up to it and leaned down and picked up 3 twenty dollar bills. Just as I straightened up, I realized that there was someone who had been rushing towards me. The man saw the money in my hand and growled, "I guess this is your lucky day! I saw the money before you did, but I was farther away." Then he glared at me and walked away. However, I knew immediately that this money wasn't mine to keep, so I found the manager in the store and left my name and phone number with him along with the money, asking him to let me know if someone claimed it. Later that afternoon I received a call from a couple who told me that they lived on social security and that this was all they had to spend for food until their next check. They could hardly believe that someone had actually turned in that money, and they thanked me profusely. Earlier that day I had been singing Mary Baker Eddy's hymn 253, "My prayer, some daily good to do To Thine, for Thee" and then wondering what good could I do for anyone. So God answered my prayer in a way that blessed everyone, even the man who was saved from spending someone else's money.

Thank you, Evan, for this great Lift. I was on the receiving end of a similar story just last week .... At the end of a busy day visiting a friend with my husband, I suddenly realized my purse was nowhere to be found. So we immediately began to retrace our steps from the day. As we did so, our friend began voicing negative thoughts about how very unlikely it would be to find my purse, that no one would turn it in, and if someone found it, they would surely take the contents and run. IMMEDIATELY I reversed those words that were voiced, and declared vehemently in my mind that in God's kingdom nothing is misplaced or lost, and that his ideas are honest and expressions of integrity and kindness. I kept repeating this mentally as we walked from place to place asking about my purse, and soon thereafter I was overcome with a tremendous sense of peace----removing all doubt and fear. A little while later, after still not finding the purse anywhere, but being met with compassion and love by every shop owner I approached about my misplaced purse, my husband's cell phone rang. It was the local Sherrif's Department saying that my purse had been turned in! When we walked over to retrieve it, all the contents were in their proper places, and not a penny or credit card had been removed. I was profoundly grateful for this evidence that man IS honest and that all of God's children, indeed, do live life unselfishly----and with integrity!

Really nice, Evan! Cute and colorful, too! I had an experience the other day where I was going shopping and I started feeling really depressed and sad. I was in the "S-Mart" and was just feeling terrible when I remembered something a C.S. Practitioner had told me recently: "We're never justified in expressing anything less than Love." She said wherever you go, just express Love to everyone. So I started smiling and nodding at people and actively sending Loving thoughts to them. The check-out person seemed to be having an especially bad day, so I was kind and cheerful to her. A couple of hours later at home, I realized that my depression and sadness had completely disappeared! POOF!!! Now that's Proof!! It works!!!

Sometimes, you must be insistent to return things. Many of our company customers call us when they receive a shipment and something is broken. We quickly issue a credit and ask them to apply this to their payment when they send it. Sometimes customers forget to use their credit. Every now and then, we make a round of phone calls, just reminding them of their credits. They act like it is amazing that we called and then they are happily grateful. For us, it is simply fun.
It is just like learning about God as the source of creditable good. At first, it is happy news, but the reminder is pretty wonderful too! We have credits to use!

It's a great circle of Love, isn't it? And thanks, Evan, for bringing out so clearly how we can stay in Love's flow on a daily, hourly, momently basis.
One of my favorite spiritual cycles is represented by Jacob's ladder: the flow of his aspirations up to God ascending, and the angel messages from divine Mind descending to him. There is another great circle that we can unite with with more and more.

I once left a passport and my purse full of money on a loo cistern at Heathrow airport just before being due to board a flight. I prayed immediately and the thought 'retrace your steps' encouraged me to do just that. When I arrived back as far as the ladies' loo (some five minutes or so later) the passport and purse were just where I had left them...truly evidence of God's immediate and permanent care.I picked them up and went on to board the plane. Thank you, Evan, for “Love unselfishly …” I smile, as I realize that if it’s selfish, it’s not really Love. :-) So, inspired by your Lift, I looked up “unselfish” in my Concord and found in Science and Health. “Jesus was unselfish ... which enabled Jesus to heal the sick, cast out evil, and raise the dead” (51). Wow! That takes being “unselfish” out of the human realm of just being nice, polite, kind, or even amazingly generous! - into the spiritual realm as the very basis for healing every ill “that flesh is heir to” (107 – marginal heading, “Mission of Christian Science”). In “Fruitage,” under, “OBSTINATE STOMACH PROBLEM HEALED,” I found, “When we think of the pure, loving, unselfish life Mrs. Eddy must have lived in order to become conscious of this truth and give it to us, words are a poor medium through which to express the gratitude which her followers feel for her. It is best expressed by obediently following her, even as she is following Christ. — H. T., Omaha, Neb.” (630). A high but attainable standard of unselfishness is the foundation for Christ’s Christianity. I’m grateful to Jesus, Mrs. Eddy and all, who have and are living unselfishly. Healing happens not by selfishly (fearfully) guarding ourselves; but instead, by unselfishly (fearlessly) sharing what we know about God/Good/Love-itself! as we’re prayerfully led. Unselfishness! “… For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds …” (II Cor. 10:4)

The example in today's Daily Lift was aprapo. If we know who lost the money, we should not keep it, BUT RETURN IT. I had this example when my wife and I found over $50 in assorted bills in a well known department store many years ago. We returned the money to the proper authorities and upon looking back, we were surprised to see the person that we returned the money to, opened her pocket book and placed the money there. Wisdom must be used in returning cash with no name to it. Returning what does not belong to us is a proper thing to do, but with wisdom, the wisdom that God gives to all.

Thank you, Evan and thanks to all of those who comment. I have had similar wonderful lost and found experiences but the latest was when I made a transaction at a store and was told the amount that would be due for the service rendered. The clerk went away and when I was finally ready to check out, another clerk was on duty and told me to pay half the amount since he was unaware of the additional service that I had previously received. I decided immediately to be honest, even though I felt the fees were exorbitant and I really couldn't afford them. The very next day, much needed funds were released to me that had proved very difficult to get hold of and two days later, another check arrived unexpectedly. When we do what is right, good is returned to us many times over.

Evan, your message reminded me of a time when I had foster children and I found money 3 times in one week. These teens were with me when I found a wallet in a parking lot. They said that they often stole wallets, took the cash and threw the wallet away. I reminded them that honesty and integrity means that you do the loving thing even if no one will ever know about it. I could see by his driver's license that the gentleman who owned the wallet was of great age and I knew it would have been difficult for him to replace the many government identification cards he had. I called him and when he came to my door, I gave him the wallet intact. He tried to give me a reward but I refused it. A couple of days later I found a purse in a restroom at the mall and returned it to the rightful owner. She told us she had $1,000 cash in her purse to pay her rent and was so grateful for our honesty. The 3rd instance was in a grocery store. I found more than $300 and a wine list in a plastic bag on a shelf. There didn't seem to be a way to return this to the owner. Also, I reasoned that if they were well off enough to spend the money on wine, they could replace this money more easily. Then I showed the children the process at the police station of making a report and waiting 30 days to see if the money was claimed. The kids teased me when it was still there after 30 days. They said God must be testing us to give us money 3 times in one week. It was a good lesson for us all.

I have a story, too. When I was a cashier in high school, the grocery store manager found out that a thief was among us cashiers as $20 was missing from several girls registers (cashiers were all girls in the 60's). He told my dad, "All I knew was that your daughter was completely honest; that she never left her cash box unattended, and that if she found a dime on the floor, she would give it to me." So when it was time for me to cash up, he put me in a room alone with one other girl and then called me out of the room, insisting that I leave my cash box. On the second day, $20 was missing from my cash box. He knew the other girl was the thief and confronted her. That I was always accurate to within a few pennies, and trusted to count the $10,000 bank deposit each night gave him added proof. The thief confessed. My dad was so proud of me that he had tears in his eyes. The only other time I saw my dad with tears in his eyes was when his father died. That incident touched my heart and has stayed with me, a lesson that ethics in everyday life is of great significance. It simply adds up. Who was it who said "Actions create habits; habits create character". . . I gleaned that wisdom from a previous Lifter.

This great story is proof that the Bible is as relevant today as it was in the past and encourages us to continue in "well-doing" even when we don't always see good results immediately or when our good deed is taken advantage of, or not appreciated. It's always right to do right and it is not ours to judge when others do wrong. " ...let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Gal 6:9 I am learning that we all are learning and God will instruct others better than we can.

Thank you Evan, this lesson just proved to me that I did the right thing yesterday when I refused to give a refuse removal service the job of taking my garden refuse away. The men had gained entry onto my property by telling me that they were sent by my regular service, but something about their attitude told me to check this. I called the dear old man that usually comes and he said that these two people had been going around stealing work from him. So by being alert and trying to be honest and also listening to the little voice that told me not to give them the work, as well as remaing loyal to the man who'd been coming to us for years, I was able to stop these men from falsly going around and stealing someone else's work.
Then this morning after reading the article, -From refugee to refuge found, -online, (Sentinel Nov.21 2005) I realized my work was not yet done and that I had to see the truth not only for my regular service man, but also for the two people that were trying to take over his territory. I realized that I had to see the pair as God's children, who were guided to do the right thing by God's angel messages, - just as I'd been guided when I'd called to check up on them.
I'm very grateful for this insight and in future this lesson will help me to remain honest and loyal as well as alert to the Truth, just like the man who returned the $200 and then had his credit card returned to him in today's Daily Lift.

Thank you, Evan, and all the great Lifter comments for such reaffirming stories. My parents always taught us that what goes around comes around. These accounts to today's Lift confirm this. Also, lately, there have been many stories on the news about individuals paying for someone elses charges -whether during Christmastime for the toys put on lay-away in stores, or at toll plazas for the car behind, or even at drive-thru take out windows. It seems to become a domino effect. This renewal of "paying it forward" is so wonderful to see happening in a world that at times seems to be focused more about "the ME" factor. Love truly is reflected in Love. I have seen this happen many times in my own experiences, and it never ceases to drive home the message that as we give, so shall we receive.

- 1/14/2013The Golden Rule, "And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them likewise." Luke 6:31, ties nicely with the old saying, 'what goes around comes around.'

- 1/14/2013Thanks for this lift in the understanding of supply.

- 1/14/2013Your story reminded me of an incident that happened many years ago when I was a college student.

- 1/14/2013I do apologize for a mistake in my earlier submission (4). I referred to Mrs Eddy's interpretation in the Lord's Prayer incorrectly.
This should have read 'And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors' as being followed by 'And love is reflected in love;

- 1/14/2013Thank you, Evan, for this great Lift.

- 1/14/2013Really nice, Evan! It works!!!

- 1/14/2013Sometimes, you must be insistent to return things.

One of my favorite spiritual cycles is represented by Jacob's ladder: the flow of his aspirations up to God ascending, and the angel messages from divine Mind descending to him. There is another great circle that we can unite with with more and more.

About a year ago I was trying to get through an express line in the grocery store in short order and the lady in front of me was letting her very young child help put her groceries through.Talk about a slow down.Did anyone need this?? But I quickly changed my thought, put on a smile and said "How nice to have a super helper!"
Just then another lady in the line behind me handed me my bracelet, which I treasured, saying it had fallen off and I hadn't been aware of that.

- 1/14/2013Thank you, Evan, for “Love unselfishly …” I smile, as I realize that if it’s selfish, it’s not really Love. 10:4)

- 1/14/2013The example in today's Daily Lift was aprapo.

- 1/14/2013Thank you, Evan and thanks to all of those who comment.

- 1/14/2013Evan, your message reminded me of a time when I had foster children and I found money 3 times in one week.

- 1/14/2013I have a story, too.

- 1/15/2013This great story is proof that the Bible is as relevant today as it was in the past and encourages us to continue in "well-doing" even when we don't always see good results immediately or when our good deed is taken advantage of, or not appreciated. It's always right to do right and it is not ours to judge when others do wrong. " ...let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Gal 6:9 I am learning that we all are learning and God will instruct others better than we can.

- 1/16/2013Thank you Evan, this lesson just proved to me that I did the right thing yesterday when I refused to give a refuse removal service the job of taking my garden refuse away.

- 1/17/2013Thank you, Evan, and all the great Lifter comments for such reaffirming stories.
