Thank you, Maryl, for this great lift. I once went on a tour of some amazing caves with extraordinary stalactites and stalagmites. The guide showed us how absolutely dark it can be in there, when he deliberately turned off his torch which was the only light source. It was weird as my eyes were open and I could see nothing at all for those few moments. However, I found out an interesting fact more recently. It's great to know that even if you were in the very darkest place like a cave, there would still be light there - if you had an infrared light detector. That's how some cameras can capture images in very dark conditions. When we express Life, we radiate some heat which produces some light, so we literally are the "light of the world" as Jesus said. It's a wonderful metaphor for showing that there really is no total darkness of any kind as the Christ is with us always.

Many thanks Maryl for that inspiring lift. Yes. "Christ your light cannot be shut down , hidden or destroyed." "Arise, arise and shine,/ On thee hath dawned the day;/ God is thy sun, and Christ thy light [and love],/ Be thou a steadfast ray [today]." (Christian Science Hymnal #14).

Bonjour
Merci beaucoup for This great lift. It reminded a little story my Christien Science teacher told me:
It's two little beam that talk together and one say to his friend:" you see this building over there? I was told never to go there for it's so dark, so frightening! This other one said: I want to go and find it by myself!" "no, don't go!" But he already was on his way to that so frightening building. When he got in, he only saw light because he was a beam of light!"
I love that story for if we express the light of Christ we are a beam a light, love, reflecting the Oneness of God, being All in all, and we see only perfection, harmony manifested around us.
Thank you again for theses daily lift that lights our thoughts every single day in an unlimited creativity and love and always blessing.

Depression is a very tangible, strange experience of life that perhaps can best be described as a dis-connect, from harmony, peace, a sense of purpose and meaning; a feeling of separation from God and life. I have experienced it and know others who have faced serious bouts of it. I am free, I am whole, I am filled with God's light; a sense of purpose and meaning. It is just like the sun dawning on a new and glorious morning; the darkness is dispelled. It is my duty to myself and others, my responsibility to remain whole, complete and free from debilitating and discomforting, purposeless depression. I am healed and grateful to claim this freedom forevermore. I do this by claiming my choice to remain in the light and to express myself for the greater good, moment by moment, day by day.
Thank you for this clear articulation of Christ and the light that is in us all.

Christ is Light, and that light is imbedded in us. To pray as Jesus taught, destroys the darkness and animates us. Christ represents the omnipresence of God’s love for us. Wherever we are God is, and we take our light with us wherever we go.
Jesus Sermon on the Mount revealed that we too are the light of the world. http://bible.cc/matthew/5-14.htm
So, shine!

Beautiful message Maryl! When we understand that only when we recognize the Christ in others and ourselves, does the world and our experience within it become real. When the darkness of personal sense is cast away, the light of spiritual identity shines upon all things and from all things. This realization causes us to see the harmony of all spirituality and even age old traditions which before seemed incompatible and contradictory. Seeing the spiritual substance behind the material appearance opens up the infinite panorama of the "new heaven and the new earth".

Wow, Maryl - I thank you so much and I agree- this should be shared with everyone that is seeking the true Christ and what it means and can tangibly demonstrate the power of the Christ light to destroy any dark sense of things. So, simple, yet powerful to heal any situation. "Christ- your light can't be destroyed" We all have those choices as Maryl pointed out - to remain in the light. I know my day will be brighter.
Muchisimas gracias día a día somos bendecidos,! thank so much Maryl!

Oh Maryl, what a Lift! This Lift certainly exemplifies the Christ, and enlightens our thoughts and heals our fears and human hypotheses. But you know, for some speaking of the Christ is like wading into the morning surf: they would prefer to approach it tentatively, rather than embracing the full magnificence of a very salty wave.
Two young grandsons have come to visit, and watching their early encounters with the ocean is very similar to becoming familiar with the opening of one's thought to the Christ presence. The same elements that are most terrifying now will become the very aspects they will ultimately embrace with the greatest joy. And their expectation of riding a board is as keen now, as it will be when they have mastered the miracle of standing on the board and riding it to the shore.
Nate, thank you and the team; the BoL and lecturers: and the Daily Lifters. We're broadcasting our light to all the world.

Your message underscored the perpetual nature of the Christ....'the Christ-light cannot be shut down'.
The 'gentle beam of living Love' - the Christ - is the very presence of God's love. The powerful statement that the body is the expression of thought is becoming more accepted in the material world today. And I'm so grateful that the 'light' can be taken with us at all times.

2 Robin, loved the fact that warmth in the cave is tangible “light” also!
6 Donna – great stand! It sometimes seems that we must make a stand moment by moment, but the thoughts which try to advertise that we are struggling and sadly disconnected from good must disappear in the Light. An important enlightenment came to me through an inspired worker who helped me to drop thinking that I was “hanging on” to truth and accept the fact that God was hanging on to me! This put great new meaning into the individual terms describing God. I did add "Joy" to the list.
I Ivimy Gwalter makes a statement in her wonderful article “The Activity of The Christ” (Dec ’57 Journal and reprinted in Classic Articles I) “The Christ is the presence of the power of God and the power of the presence of God.”

Way back in 1999, my dear, sweet father-in-law slipped into a coma. We were called and flew south to Alabama. In a day or two, my husband went back to work, Ben's wife and daughter went home to rest, and I stayed next to Ben, focusing on the Light of God in the Word --- praying about not letting coma be a bushel that hides your beautiful Christ light, Ben, as our Savior Jesus taught and also reading to Ben the chapter from A Course in Miracles, "You Are the Light of the World" (not having studied Christian Science then). In 5 days, Ben woke up and asked me, "How long have you been beside me?" "5 days," I answered. "I thought so," he said. Clearly, coma could not shut down the strong beam of Christ light that was in Ben, a devout Southern Baptist, and a kind and gentle man whose good works are treasures in heaven. It touches my heart that Ben told me, before he passed on, that he prayed for me every day for the rest of his life. He is lovingly remembered.

It is designed for youth, but is presented in a colorful and refreshing manner for all youthful thinkers. Also, be an explorer and research the bible characters for the week. Many years ago a mother looking down at her baby in his crib, became aware that he seemed to be passing away. Her thought immediately turned to the line from Mrs. Eddy's Hymn

Margaret
- 1/11/2012
This fits exactly with something that I randomly found yesterday when I opened Mis. Writings to pg 290
JUDGE NOT by MBE is telling of a person who wrote to her telling that she had felt the influence of MBE's thought on her at a certain hour and that it had produced a wonderful illumination, peace, and understanding, but MBE had not been thinking of her. MBE says" I knew that this person was doing well, and my affections involuntarily flow out towards all." She goes on to say "When thought dwells in God,--and it should not, to our consciousness, dwell elsewhere,-- one must benefit those who hold a place in one's memory, whether it be friend or foe, and each share the benefit of that radiation. This individual blessedness and blessing comes not so much from individual as from universal love: it emits light because it reflects; and all who are receptive share this equally." That is so powerful.
Reading this made me feel like a light house, reflecting Gods unlimited Love to everyone in my memory. Our memory includes a lot of people. Think of all of the news reports that we have heard concerning people all around the globe. Understanding that the love and light of Christ that we are reflecting is from God who is limitless enables us to shine very brightly.
Thank you Maryl for this wonderful, inspiring Lift

- 1/11/2012Thank you, Maryl, for this great lift.

- 1/11/2012Depression is a very tangible, strange experience of life that perhaps can best be described as a dis-connect, from harmony, peace, a sense of purpose and meaning; a feeling of separation from God and life.

- 1/11/2012Christ is Light, and that light is imbedded in us.
So, shine!

- 1/11/2012Beautiful message Maryl!

- 1/11/2012Wow, Maryl - I thank you so much and I agree- this should be shared with everyone that is seeking the true Christ and what it means and can tangibly demonstrate the power of the Christ light to destroy any dark sense of things. So, simple, yet powerful to heal any situation. "Christ- your light can't be destroyed" We all have those choices as Maryl pointed out - to remain in the light. I know my day will be brighter. Thanks again.

Muchisimas gracias día a día somos bendecidos,! thank so much Maryl!

- 1/11/2012Oh Maryl, what a Lift!

- 1/11/2012Your message underscored the perpetual nature of the Christ....'the Christ-light cannot be shut down'.
The 'gentle beam of living Love' - the Christ - is the very presence of God's love. The powerful statement that the body is the expression of thought is becoming more accepted in the material world today. And I'm so grateful that the 'light' can be taken with us at all times.
I'm eager to see you again at Bible Study Maryl!

- 1/11/2012Many thanks for the lovely lift on 'light' - one of my favorite topics. I love all the comments too, and especially to be reminded by Anne (No.4) of the little beams of light. That is so helpful to remember.
If we are constantly reflecting the Christ light, we can never encounter any darkness, and this light brings help and healing to our fellow man, as well as protecting and guiding ourselves.

- 1/11/2012The words, 'Thank you,' hardly do justice to what I am trying to convey. After many years away from C.S.,. I struggle with what seems a discipline to read the daily lesson. - 1/11/2012Thank you for this light filled message - I am really getting to grips with the (34) Ivimy Gwalter statement, thank you. I shall try to find it!I woke to a spectacular sunrise this morning, as each beam of light emerged through the cloud the whole horizon became illuminated in a red, pink and orange glow; the rays of light seemed to be such thin lines compared to the vast irridescence of the landscape. Hmmmm. The Daily Lift has that same beaming effect in the world and I am so grateful to receive it and be a part of it each day.

- 1/11/2012Way back in 1999, my dear, sweet father-in-law slipped into a coma.

- 1/11/2012Thanks Maryl for such an inspiring message for us. In praying for direction yesterday, this passage from Miscellany came to light. - 1/11/2012Thank you for reminding us of our purpose. Everyone needs to know what their purpose is in life. To #37, Jocelyn...try using "my bible lesson" online. It is designed for youth, but is presented in a colorful and refreshing manner for all youthful thinkers. Also, be an explorer and research the bible characters for the week. Observe how they learned to listen and express the Christ. You'll begin to look forward to it and get more out of it as you "see" more in it. Another great assistance is offered by CedarScamps.

- 1/11/2012Thank you Maryl! I love to ponder what it means to be in the reflecting business. Answering such questions as reflecting what, who, how, when and why? Your gentle message certainly clarified many of those questions and gave us a picture of living from the heart rather than the head.

- 1/11/2012Great lift and comments. Much gratitude to the speaker and this community. I am reminded of a thought given to me by a great Christian Science healer and teacher who said in essence: "All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of one tiny flame. - 1/11/2012Thank you for this gentle beam of living love (lift).
Many years ago a mother looking down at her baby in his crib, became aware that he seemed to be passing away. Her thought immediately turned to the line from Mrs. Eddy's Hymn
"thou gentle beam of living love, and deathless life". The baby fell asleep and when it awoke, was completely free and happy. This person has distinguished himself in our movement for many years.

- 1/11/2012Thanks for the great inspiration. I so appreciated your inclusion of a line from MBE's poem. Perfect for today!
Margaret
- 1/11/2012This fits exactly with something that I randomly found yesterday when I opened Mis.
