- 5/25/2011Ginny Luedeman was asked to tell her story because it shows how Christian Science parents provide practical, effective care for their children, and how this success was recognized by professionals working in foster care and adoption agencies in California and Oregon. These professionals were impressed with the success these Christian Science parents were having in reversing effects of emotional and physical abuse.
The lecture was given following a symposium at Oregon State University, which addressed faith healing deaths of children whose parents belong to the Followers of Christ Church in Oregon City, Oregon. There had been attempts by some critics of Christian Science to wrongly associate these deaths with Christian Science.
Ginny’s lecture illustrates the kind of prayer, and practice, which makes this Science so effective in healing.

- 5/25/2011Thank you. This lecture brings out the power of love.
I well remember my experience in Korea in 1958 and the orphans resulting from the war. Science taught me how not to ignore them but to love them in so many ways.
A (many years ago) Journal cover once had a picture of a litle child and the captioin read “The grace of God embracing every9ne”. That years old Journal cover is still taped over my desk. Not that I need a reminder, just that CS has meant so much to me in the ever innocence and love of all children.
Gratefully,

- 5/25/2011Thanks for the uplifting message about how to pray for children.
The idea to cast out fear reminded me that when Jesus healed he often said “Fear not” or “Be not afraid” first.
I just looked up the phrase “fear not” at biblegateway.com and this is one of the first verses I saw from Genesis 50:21.
“Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.”
There are 180 references to “fear not” and 80 references to “be not afraid” on the website.
Thanks again.

- 5/25/2011Thank You for this lecture..Wonderful to hear of the healings and help you had through Christian Science with children. As a parent I have come to realize that age has nothing to do with being a parent…there seems to be a problem in my home with a 30 yr. old son. When I saw the arrival of the lecture in the email..I said wonderful..I’ll get to it as soon as possible. Began to prepare for study of the Bible Lesson..and couldnt seem to settle down..when the message came..”go listen to the lecture”….it was a God sent message, and exactly what was needed today. I realized that there was something special in this lecture that arrived so early in answer to prayer. Thank You Ginny. A true blessing. Just what I needed to hear.

- 5/25/2011Thank you to each of you for your comments!
The joy of healing and of God’s love for children, is so wonderful and natural. Everyone involved in the care of children has a sense of the closeness of God’s love, especially when it comes to children. Looking into the face of a tiny child brings the love of God so close. God’s love is warm and tender yet powerful and unchanging.
In working with children of all ages, I often find Bible stories about God’s divine care and guidance of children so very comforting. The stories are many, some are: Moses’ journey as a little baby found floating in a basket- to a great leader of the people, the prodigal son and his challenges with the temptations of the world and how his dad never gave up on him and forgave him when he returned, Joseph and his challenges with his siblings and their attempt to kill him, and the humble birth of Jesus and his amazing gift to the world.
We are loved even in tough times and we can feel and experience this divine sense of love. There is a law of God able to protect, heal and guide children as well as adults.
I feel so blessed to have been able to witness this law in action in my life and to have been able to share some of what I’ve seen in this lecture.
For further guidance in parenting, using the ideas taught in Christian Science, Christian Science Reading Rooms have a wealth of information on this topic. There are attendants who will help guide you.
With love,

- 5/25/2011Thank you Ginny-your lecture was enlightening for a newcomer-me. I am curious how your first born son is doing and how you have responded to him-prayer, etc. I apologize if this is too personal, it’s an issue deep to my heart with my older son who is 18 (and I am free of drugs/alcohol 25+ years).
