- 10/2/2011I just tried to see if the Sunday Service at TMC would be working for tomorrow and it looks like it isn't working. Any suggestions? Is it because the Website crashed on Friday - at least they told us it did for the Daily Lift? Will it be working again? Also, there is no Replay Bar like there used to be.....??? Was this change Really Necessary?

- 10/4/2011We plan to participate in this lecture at our Christian Science Reading Room in Wichita, Kansas, where we should be able to stream the live event. Will the audio be available for replay afterward? We’d like to invite folks who can’t be there for the live event to come to the Reading Room later to hear a rebroadcast.
Thanks to Marta Greenwood and The Mother Church for planning this even

- 10/4/2011Well, I should have looked at the fliers before I asked my question. The answer on the flier is that a video of the lecture will be available later. Thanks to all who are putting this together!

- 10/4/2011The 91st Psalm and 911
Many of us have been thinking about safety because of the focus on 911’s 10th anniversary. I’m looking forward to the upcoming lecture being online!
It dawned on me today that the 91st Psalm is a timeless answer to terror or fear. Terror is just error with a “t” in front of it! Take away the t and all you have is error, a mistake, nothing to fear or even remember.
Never has there been a time when malice, hatred, accident was real. It was and is a false image. Death is an illusion, not a real occurrence or reality. We are all in the Light of Life and always will be. If we let fear in through dark images or playing images of attack, brutality, destruction in, we are filling our consciousness with darkness, rather than realizing the everpresent Light or Christ. Light is never afraid of shadows or darkness. We are children of Light. We are “heirs of God, joint heirs with Christ”. We are not subject to chance and personal connections- good or evil. We don’t inherit good or bad from ancestors or blood connections. We aren’t connected by blood, but connected through Love, Life, Truth . “God is at once the center and circumference of being”SH.
Principle, Love is “underlying, overlying and encompassing all true being.”
SH 496:18
“None can beyond Thy omnipresence stray. Safe in Thy Love, we live and sing always, Alleluia!” (Hymn 66)
This is not just “being in denial” or Pollyannish thinking. It is based on the allness of Good and the nothingness of evil which Jesus and the prophets proved and which mankind has a right to claim right now as well. Christian Science has revealed the scientific certainty of the power of Love to heal and meet all human needs.
Love doesn’t struggle against its own children (spiritual ideas). We should struggle for a spiritual sense of Life, rather than falling for fearful false images. This will free us and everyone we include in our prayer in the peace and joy of everlasting Life, Truth and Love.
I like to think of the “peace symbol” as including the trinity- Life, Truth, Love. As Genesis says, “Let THEM have dominion over all”.

- 10/4/2011This lecture will certainly be a big thing in itself in memory of one most serious attacks of mortal mind against humanity. In this sense I welcome it.
On the other hand as Christin Scientists we should be aware that 09/11 is only a cipher referring to man made disasters,
whereas the concept of Life nad Truth tells me that in the realm of Spirit, i.e. the Kingdom of God,no disaster id possible. So why remind us of the so-called power of unreality?

- 10/4/2011I recommend that you all study the book of Habakkuk. This “minor” prophecy was written shortly after tje Assyrian captivity was concluded, and the “Chaldeans” (Babylonians) were doing a lot of sabre-rattling, c. 610 BCE. The prophet raises a lot of questions that were also raised on 9/ll/2011. He asks God “How long?” and “why are you doing this to us?” It would appear that the invasion was ultimately a good thing for Israel, as it forced them to listen to God in what seemed like silence, and to trust Him more. This resulted, for the time being, in greater national security. Eventually, however, the people forgot it and went back to their lax ways so destructive of a just society.
The lessons of Habakkuk are not easy, but they are worthwhile. Worthwhile? They’re critical!

- 10/4/2011Gratitude goes out to the Board of Lectureship and to Marta for providing this opportunity for us to pray today and not get hypnotized by the media images of the replays of the sad day. All week I reminded myself of Mrs. Eddy’s cautions to “record no ages.” Let’s not get mesmerized by the date 9/11 nor that this error made an attempt to cloud Reality ten (10) years ago. By the way, what’s the deal with 10 years? One moment with God is an eternity. Also, I’ve pondered the beatitude: Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. The Divine Comforter is healing all grief and replacing those tears with lovingkindness, joy and peace.

- 10/4/2011Thank you so much, Marta, for your wonderful lecture, ‘Love is the victor’. What wonderful words of clear, precise spiritual enlightenment! Rather than focusing on the event, you’ve given so much promise of fullfilment for future growth and progress. I watched the service in New York City last night, and all who spoke had moved on with love, compassion and full expectation of life enriched by lessons learned from that day. Mrs Eddy said “And o’er earth’s troubled, angry sea, I see Christ walk, and come to me, and tenderly, divinely talk.” Thank you for your healing words, Marta, and thank you to the Board of Lectureship, and The Mother Church for this gift to humanity. All will be blessed!

- 10/4/2011Thank you for a wonderful antidote to the sorrow and loss characterizing so much of the tributes today for those involved in the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Shanksville. The lecture gives us tools with which to find a higher and effective perspective on how to go forward with expectancy of a deepening of good, not fear of a grim, uncertain future. I am so glad this lecture can be heard or seen online later. Many people need to get this message. Thank you local members of The Mother Church and thank you Marta for a truly powerful lecture.

- 10/4/2011Marta. thanks so much for that agape love. from the moment I heard you for the first time mention this unconditional love in a lecture here in Australia not long ago I began to realize how important it is to ‘live’not just accept what divine Love, God, requires of us, and I am grateful that every day I make a bigger effort to emulate as much as I can the doings of Christ Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy. Your lecture is a living prayer. thanks also to the emotive and inspired introduction by the Odegaards. Our Church is really Alive!

- 10/4/2011Great!! The lecture consistently shows the straight and narrow way of loving our enemies.
The experiences shared are illustrating how to break the chain of violence and all types of hatred and destruction: Refuse to hate, take off the false labels and replace them with the real image, the nature of good. I’ve had experiences like that too and it is so freeing.
For example back in my schooldays, I felt that one teacher was treating the pupils unjustly and was too strict, and I must admit that I hated her. With the help of my Sunday School teacher I was able to take off the unloving labels and the relationship completely turned around to one of mutual support and warmth.
At work, one colleague treated me disrespectfully. Jesus’ parable of the two debtors came to my rescue. One debtor is released of his large debt. He then demands from a fellow who owes him a comparatively small amount that he repays him. – I remembered how much was forgiven me, so I was able to mentally release my ‘debtor’. He worked in a different location and when he visited our office the next time, he left a reconciliatory note together with a box of biscuits on my desk.
–
By the way, in the Luther Bible, Ps. 23:4 is also translated as “And whether I walked in the dark valley, I fear no evil, because [Y]ou are with me …”
“Und ob ich schon wanderte im finstern Tal, fürchte ich kein Unglück; denn [D]u bist bei mir …”

- 10/4/2011Thank you Marta for this inspiring lecture. I share the sentiments of all those who have commented previously. I am indeed very grateful to the Mother Church for providing us with the opportunity to hear this lecture. The experiences which you shared confirm quite forcibly “Love, Love alone is power”. Hymn. 179

- 10/4/2011Our branch church opened its edifice to stream the audio at 6 central time on Sunday so that this lecture could be shared with those without computers and with those who wanted to listen in the company of others. We are still learning how to use all this wonderful technology in our church, and I was so grateful for the opening music. It enabled us to check the sound quality of our simple equipment (a laptop and handheld mike) before the lecture started. Of course the sound was heard perfectly by our congregation, and it was so appropriate to have an introduction by New Yorkers and a lecturer from the Middle East. The Mother Church’s message was so unifying!

- 10/4/2011I have been NY several times in the past two years, and have found it the kindest, friendliest place I’ve ever visited. Each time we stopped for a moment to look at a map, someone walked up immediately to ask where we needed to go. Once, it was a man who looked like a street person, and was proud of his city and knowledge of its subways. Another time, it was a man in an Armani suit, carrying a briefcase. Each one had great information, and was delighted to help. Countless other great experiences, too. So, that goodness and love has lasted!

- 10/4/2011Marta: Your lecture was fantastic. That wonderful sense of Agapi Love will burn in my heart for a long time to come. I’m so pleased that TMC brought this lecture to the world. Your examples of demonstrating the love of Love are so uplifting and freeing. THANKS!!

- 10/4/2011Dear Marta –
Thank you so much for your love-filled and Love-filled lecture. - 10/4/2011Thank you Marta for your reminder that divine Love- agape is one and only attraction and everyone’s “home.” We are united within this Love. I loved how you put agape and love together to remind us the depth and the power of love that comes from God. Truth is the liberator!! Grateful for the pre-lecture presentation and all those who helped to put this precious messages up for the world-wide audience. Much love!!!

- 10/4/2011So grateful for your reminder, Marta, that Love abounds and fear has no power to react. “Fear (i.e., love) ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?” Jer 5:22
Love right back to you!!

- 10/4/2011We too thank The Mother Church for arranging to have the talks and Marta’s lecture available for us to hear. The examples given by Marta of knowing Love’s presence and allness and the freedom this gave her to know peace even before the situations changed are lessons to think on often.

- 10/4/2011I was struck by the idea that we are not stalked or pursued by error or evil, but followed by goodness and mercy. That’s an incredibly powerful truth. Thanks, Marta for your message and thanks to all who made it possible. (By the way, the graphic treatment was both contemporary and cool!)

- 10/4/2011I am so grateful for this wonderful lecture! I listened to it at 6:00 Sunday evening, but watched and listened to the introduction spoken so beautifully by Ted and Rebecca and the radiantly given lecture by Marta again now that it is available on the internet. The message just lifted me above the hatred into that agape love spoken about in such a precious manner. I feel ready to express this love now, to forgive more, and to see others better as being the reflections of this love also. Thank you to the speakers and to The Mother Church for providing this uplifting occasion.

- 10/4/2011I like it, yes, through Christ we can make a difference, your lecture encouraged me alot to go on in this way … thank you

- 10/4/2011Deep thanks to Marta, Ned and Rebecca, and The Mother Church. I have listened three times and am still mining the riches of this wonderful lecture. One idea that stood out to me was the importance of not letting incidents from our past terrorize us, but forgiving and loving – being gentle to ourselves and others. I have struggled with this, and am realizing that feeling unloved and carrying resentment is the same as consenting to terrorize myself. I, too, love the accounts of Jesus, Stephen, and Paul facing horrible deaths, yet finding strength – even triumph – in love and forgiveness. Marta, you put it so simply and powerfully: “We have a choice: if we can’t be loved, to love instead.” Thank you!
Mary Randall
- 10/4/2011Oh so wonderful is this lecture. Inspiration for me. Thank you….so much Marta I’m sending to my email to listen more.

Gloria, Ankara, Turkey
- 10/4/2011Dear Marta, I just want you to know how grateful I am to have your lecture “10 years later: Love is the victor” available online. Yesterday there was a bomb blast in downtown Ankara, an act of terrorism, which killed three people and wounded 34. When I learned of the incident, I immediately thought of your lecture which I had listened to live when you delivered it at The Mother Church on September 11. In addition, I had already listened twice to the replay of the audio and once to the replay of the video. Before going to bed last night, I re-watched the video and felt so comforted, so embraced in loved. One of my favorite places in the lecture (I get all choked up here) is where you tell the story about the lady in the organization who disliked you. She began giving you lessons in English, and you told her: “I have to pay you for this.” And she answered: “No, Marta, I want you to go on loving me the way you’re doing.” This is what I’m holding close to my heart today: I must go on loving everyone here the way I’ve been doing because the law of Love doesn’t change with circumstances, just as the law of mathematics doesn’t change with circumstances. Two plus two is always four, and Love is always reflected in love. Today we must deal with terrorism (the error of hate) just as Christ Jesus had to deal with the cross – by practicing forgiveness, by practicing unconditional agape-love, day by day, moment by moment. Thank you, dear Marta, for lifting our thought in prayer to understand that the practical, healing remedy for hatred and terrorism of every kind is Love: Love for God and agape-love for mankind.

- 2/1/2013A few hours ago, the US Embassy in Ankara was hit by a suicide bomber. I happen to be in Ankara today, so in searching for ways to pray, I remembered this online lecture and have just re-watched it. Thanks so much for making these online lectures available. This one has helped me to be calm and clear about the universal power of divine Love. It reminded me of the 23rd and 91st Psalms which I am now clinging to. Also, this week's Bible Lesson reminded me this morning that "no power can withstand divine Love" (S&H 224).
