Dear Members and Friends,
It has been a joy to share news with you from the Clerk's office over this last decade. As conveyed in the October 1st announcement, I'll be concluding my work as Clerk and member of the Christian Science Board of Directors on November 3. What a happy occasion it is to be writing and sharing with you news about those who have caught the vision of what it means to be a member of The Mother Church. And they have acted on this vision by applying for membership. Admission takes place at a regular business meeting of the Christian Science Board of Directors and is required in the Church Manual. This morning the Board voted to admit new members to our worldwide Church family.
Applications for this Admission were received in Dutch, English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, and were sent to us from the following locations: Angola, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Cote D'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, Republic of Congo, Russia, Rwanda, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, The Netherlands, Togo, United States of America, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
These newest members of our worldwide Church family unite with us in making a commitment to the Cause that Mary Baker Eddy referred to as “the greatest and holiest of all causes” (Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896, p. 177).
If you are a Facebook user and would like to extend a personal welcome to these new members, you can comment on the welcome note on the Church’s Facebook page: The Mother Church — The First Church of Christ, Scientist.
As always, our sincere gratitude goes out to all members and Christian Science teachers who support the admission of new members through their prayers and by approving and countersigning applications.
Applications for membership are welcome at any time. The next admission of new members will take place on May 30, 2014. Completed applications must be received by the Office of the Clerk no later than May 28.
With heartfelt love and appreciation for each of you,
Clerk of The Mother Church
