Volunteering at The Mother Church

As a member of The Mother Church, you can volunteer in the following ways:

Usher at Church services

  • Offer a warm welcome to people from nearby or around the world as well as support the healing activity that is the heart of these services. Ushers are needed for all Sunday and Wednesday services.

Sunday School on Sundays and childcare on Wednesday evenings

  • Share your joy in a variety of ways as a teacher, greeter, or childcare worker.

Reading Room

  • Connect with the community through a variety of ways by helping the Massachusetts Avenue Reading Room.

Lectures

  • Support lectures given in English and Spanish in the community.

Caring committee

  • Offer local members inspiration and companionship as well as assistance such as preparing a meal, reading aloud, doing light errands, shopping, providing transportation, and doing light housekeeping.

Prison ministry

  • Serve the community as a Christian Science chaplain, a worker at weekly services, or a member of the metaphysical support team for the Suffolk County Jail and for other occasional requests for various community organizations.

Chimers

  • Play the church bells before Sunday services and Wednesday meetings. Members need to be experienced keyboard musicians.

Broadcasting

  • Join with members who are exploring ways to maintain and promote the local broadcast activities.
