6/3: The growing church

6/3: The growing church

  1. Thank you for reminding me what I am. And thanks for the story of the stone which the builders have rejected, the cross, healing. Christ made apparent and right now. For me, this is a very touching thought, that Love fills all space and that is enough.

  2. Excellent!

  3. So many wonderful ideas and very thought-provoking. I'm "sprouting!" Thanks, Marian!

  4. Dear Marian it is quite evident and felt the Spirit, The Christ, reflected through you. The Annual Meeting on June 2nd, also reflected the Christ and was so evident as I sat in my office I lost all sense of space or time. We were united worldwide and God expressed as Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, True and Love filled all. Our understanding of God will bring healing to the nations and peace on earth. Thank you for your contribution to Mary Baker Eddy's works inspired by her love of God.

  5. This is wonderful for everyone at every stage of spiritual growth. Thank you so much.

  6. Thank you. The singer and musician Van Morrison has a song with lyrics that state, "if my heart could do my thinking and my head begin to feel, I would look upon the world anew and know just what is real." Christ Jesus tells us that the Sabbath was created for man and not man the Sabbath. Prayer is what establishes the Christ in individual consciousness...............Thank you...

  7. This is good, thank you. Yes, church needs us and we need church. And the world is blessed immeasurably through its activity.

I am enjoying "Mary Baker Eddy: Her Mission and Triumph" by Julia Michael Johnston. There are many thought-provoking, applicable ideas here. One example (relevant to this lecture), "She (Mary Baker Eddy) looked into the hearts of her followers and saw 'the living, palpitating presence of Christ, Truth' ('Science and Health', p 351), quickening and preserving their loyalty to divine Principle. And she predicted that 'if the lives of Christian Scientists attest their fidelity to Truth...in the twentieth century every Christian church in our land, and a few in far-off lands, will approximate the understanding of Christian Science sufficiently to heal the sick in his name' ('Pulpit and Press', p 22)." p 128. This biography provides consistent examples of Mary Baker Eddy exuding dominion -- and triumph(!) as the title mentions.

  8. Wow! I feel like I've just attended Church! The Love and the Tenderness and the Patience and Joy that you expressed through your words, Marian, is exactly what All attending a Christian Science Church should feel. It IS Healing! Studying the weekly Bible Lesson......so vital to the growth of Church.....is what our part as attendees is and what brings the inspiration to the Church Service! I'm willing to walk forward with the Christian Science Church! Thank you and Much Love.

  9. Wow! This was the best 53 minutes I've spent in a long while. THANK YOU! And thanks for your service to us all as TMC Second Reader. You did and you continue to bring Life to us - - here and NOW.

  10. Dear Marian, thank you so much for such a deep and thorough treatment for church.

  11. I agree whole heartedly with Bevi 8#. I love "to behold in science the perfect church" not the building but the structure of Truth and Love and it's activity of healing also your quote "'Mary Baker Eddy said to a student 'I yearn for the day when no one can enter a Christian science church no matter how sorrowing or sick that one might be without being healed' and this will happen when every member of that church studies and demonstrates the lesson sermon and brings to the church service the consciousness thus prepared". Thanks Marian for this inspiring lecture.

  12. Also, in "My." p 237:20-24, Mary Baker Eddy wrote, "Take Notice. The article on the 'Church Manual' by Blanche Hersey Hogue, in the 'Sentinel' of September 10 [1910] is practical and scientific, and I recommend its careful study to all Christian Scientists." (It is in the "Classic Anthology of Articles" pp 36-37, too).

This article speaks to what is included in this lecture and beyond about church. Relations with fellowmen, fellowship, increase of spirituality, reforms, a Christian Scientist...not allowed to live to himself, lukewarm attitude toward church organization, maintaining the cause beyond personal interests, etc. This article similarly addresses the blog, "How do we get outsiders excited about Christian Science when people in the movement have become complacent?" at www.time4thinkers.com.

Thank you so much for bringing it forward to the radar of thought through the lecture's expression. Love, divine Mind and the only intelligence of the universe is making itself known in tangible ways and we have the spiritual understanding to see and comprehend this!! :)

  13. Thank you Marian for these reminders of why we love Christian Science, and giving fresh insight.

  14. Thanks for this segment, Chet and Marian. A lot of thought-provoking ideas and their are refreshing and gave me a sense of renewal. I also love, Marian, what you said about throwing a dusty item and not realising it to be precious! Thanks again, to both of you!

  15. Dear Marion, I so enjoyed listening to your talk about the growth of church and also your testimony about discovering Christian Science. I felt such love in every word and inflection of your delivery. Your articulation in answering Chet's serious questions were so very inspiring. I hope you don't mind my using some of your ideas for my prayerful work about our reading room. Your thoughts are such a blessing. Thank you so much for your prayerful contribution to our Christian Science movement..
