The Committee on Publication
You may have noticed that The First Church of Christ, Scientist, doesn't maintain a traditional press office. Instead, the Committee on Publication responds to questions and interview requests from members of the media and from the public. The Committee on Publication is not the publishing arm of the Church, as some may infer from its name.
The office is responsible for conveying correct information about Christian Science, its practices, and its discoverer, Mary Baker Eddy. The Committee also works with lawmakers and government regulators to help them understand Christian Science. And Committees in every US state and throughout the world provide information at the local level.
What about a spokesperson? Our nearest equivalent is the Manager of the Committee on Publication, and this position is currently held by Phil Davis. The Manager's role is not to speak on behalf of the members of this church, but rather to ensure that information in the public domain regarding Christian Science is correct. Frequently, that involves being interviewed like a traditional spokesperson. More often, the Manager is working behind the scenes with reporters, editors, and producers to provide the resources they need to produce factually correct journalism.
Philip G. Davis, Manager

Phil Davis directs a worldwide team of individuals who provide the media and government with correct information regarding Christian Science and its founder, Mary Baker Eddy. In this capacity, he has himself been interviewed on television and radio in the US as well as in national and international print media.
Phil has held several other positions for The First Church of Christ, Scientist, working directly with state and national legislators and conducting hundreds of interviews, meetings, and workshops to support the work of Christian Science healers in various countries.
Central to all these assignments is Phil's work as a professional Christian Science practitioner and authorized teacher of Christian Science. For over 20 years, he's helped individuals experience the healing effects of God's love.
