Having taught in public schools, Sarah Hyatt is comfortable in the give-and-take setting of workshops and interactive talks that explore the spiritual laws of Christ-healing found in Mary Baker Eddy’s Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She began reading Science and Health as a teen in great need of a new view of herself beyond the child of an alcoholic label she wore, and she read as a rebel—a challenger of the ideas she found in the book. The author’s claim that what she had discovered was a science made Sarah realize that it had fixed rules that could be applied and then judged by their results. She often shares the specifics of her search for healing solutions to help audiences understand that these are universal principles that anyone can understand and apply to whatever challenges they may face. She is very down to earth, speaking from the heart with gentle humor and grace.
Over the last 10 years, as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, Sarah has addressed groups in homeless shelters, in facilities that provide aid for abused women, in juvenile detention centers and prisons, in assisted living and retirement homes—wherever people are looking for a higher sense of identity than the labels they wear. Her background as a Southern Baptist makes her a natural for interfaith talks and classroom lectures on Christian Science. She also has made a commitment to be available for a quick response after hurricanes, incidents of school violence or other pressing current events that need to be addressed on short notice. She has over 19 years in the healing practice and is also a Christian Science teacher.
