For some 30 years Maryl Walters has been a practitioner of Christian Science healing, joyfully helping people find solutions to their own and world problems through the practical Christianity found in Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. In 1994 she became a teacher of Christian Science and was also appointed to the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. Since then, she has presented talks and workshops on Christian Science across North America to a variety of groups in many different venues.
A lifelong Christian Scientist, Maryl has witnessed the healing power of scientific Christianity in her own family and for many others, including healings of detached heart valves at birth, chronic muscle pain, a life-threatening poisonous spider bite, broken bones, a tumor, incapacitating back pain, a heart condition, severe challenges with a family business, and relationship and identity issues.
At home Maryl serves her community through her healing practice, active branch church work, and her interfaith explorations and connections. She has been involved as a cabinet member of the St. Louis Interfaith Partnership and with various other local interfaith steering committees which have given her many new opportunities to share Christian Science. She also enjoys reading, gardening, biking and walking, and playing with her eight grandchildren.
Maryl has made many wonderful connections in St. Louis through interfaith activities and with teachers at various high schools and colleges. That’s what she’ll be focusing on this year—responding to requests from the community for talks on Christian Science.
“Your presentation [to my social workers class] was inspiring and informative. Know that your time with us has dramatic implications upon many lives. These social workers will be interacting with hundreds of families in the future and your words and testimony will stay with them ….”
Dr. Gary Behrman, associate dean of the graduate school at St. Louis University
