1. Blake, Portland OR, USA Says:
Merci beaucoup John:) Thanks to you and Daily Lift for sharing this message of God’s Love, protection and healing with us. I’ve also be turning away from the images and knowing God is in control and providing for human needs as well as spiritual ones. Haitians and all people of the world are God’s beloved children.
2. Jeanine Says:
Thank you for focusing our prayers to recognize the presence of Love right where the quake destruction has jarred the senses. This lifting up in thought has to be felt, right now, in the form of tangible comfort and long-standing healing to the Haitian families everywhere.
3. bill Says:
Beautifully stated …. and applied to a humanly very bleak situation….. where truly we should know that no life can really be lost…. God is the only Life of all of us…..
4. di-vanc Says:
In prayerful thoughts for our friends in Haiti I am reminded in Jer 23:23 that our Father is a God at hand… As John Tyler just reassured us, no one is outside the total control, the total love of God.
As we all prayerfully support the search and rescue let’s remember that those in the service of our Father never lack His outstretched hand and that He does hear our voice…Isa 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Ps 139: Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
How safe God has made man to be.
5. Dawn, south Africa Says:
Thank you for those lovely thoughts. One is often swept away with the enormity of an event of this nature. This reminder of God’s presence and control is vital and so appreciated. With much gratitude, Dawn
6. Derra in Edmonds Says:
Thank you John for these supporting ideas for the people of Haiti. My connection with Haiti came quite unexpected. A dear friend was just visiting from Texas, and her son had located to Haiti months ago to begin a career as a freelance journalist and supporter of the Haitians. She was flying back home to Texas when the earthquake happened. My heart went out to her, her son, and the Haitians. I immediately began praying that God was in the midst of Haiti–Love was in the midst of Haiti, Life was in the midst of Haiti, Truth was in the midst of Haiti, Mind was in the midst of Haiti–using all of the synonyms for God referenced in the Bible. This Love in the midst of Haiti is embracing, comforting, guiding, inspiring each of her sons and daughters–a presence that is felt by each individual there. This Life is a power greater than any tragedy. This Truth is a foundation for regeneration, rebuilding, reconstruction. I kept my friend’s son close to my thoughts and prayers knowing that he was there for a purpose; his compassion, strength, integrity, and courage were intact–expressed now and forever. I refused to allow fear or doubt to creep into my thought. Soon the U.S. Embassy contacted my dear friend informing her that her son was indeed alive and would be in touch. He has since been interviewed by PBS and CNN as an on-the-ground witness to the state of conditions in Haiti–a vital resource to the entire world for information during this time of chaos and destruction. I continue to support him and all of Haiti, knowing that Love’s presence–in the midst–will meet all human needs.
7. lynne-Redondo Beach CA Says:
Thank you for this message. The prayer across the globe is going along and Loves Power to feed and feel LOVE right there and now. Prayer brings us into the Harmony we need right when and where we are. Jesus gave us daily bread of prayer. It fills. Being at church consistently is one way of being ready and alert.
8. Rose Says:
Thank you, John, for this reminder of Love’s all embracing power. It is embracing the rescuers, planners, volunteers, government officials from many countries who are pouring out their resources to assist the thousands who are in dire need. I am grateful for your reminder that such powerful Love because as Mrs. Eddy reminds us Love alone is Life itself.
9. Anne Says:
Thank you, John! This is just what we need right now.
10. Nancy Says:
… yes … your inspiration expresses and reveals your deep listening John, – I appreciate – your “Lift” – I’ve already listened a few times.
Summerizing:
lift up our eyes – above and away from the destruction – seeing the steadying power of God’s love… no one is outside of His total love…we can and will see His presence ..comforting…feeding…healing…renewing His people everywhere … that Love IS – in action – IS here – IS now!
A sincere thank you!
Lovingly
Nancy
11. Elena desde California (San Diego) Says:
“Look away from the picture of destruction” Thank you John, this powerful thought should help us elevate our thought to help the people of Haiti by putting them in God’s hands (with all our love). We must keep our thought high if we wish to help.
Today when I came back from church, I’ve got on my knees to ask God, my Father-Mother AND the people in Haiti’s loving Father-Mother, what can I do to help this suffering people. The answer was too fast, so fast that startled me, “By knowing that there’s no death”. But, of course! Right away I jumped to the computer to find your words of love and compassion. As I listen to this Lift, the thought came to me of Elijah, when Jezebel promised to kill him, fearing for his life, he hid in a cave in the dessert, wishing he would die. Then God talked to him and had him get out and stand upon the mount. There then Elijah saw the ferocious wind, earthquake and fire, God wasn’t in any of these negative, controlling actions, but on the still, small voice that came afterward. Let us listen to God’s still, small voice, that talks to us from within, and see the salvation of the Lord, knowing that everyone of the people affected is in this very moment loved and cared for by his/her loving Father-Mother.
12. Brenda Nisbet Smith Says:
Very up-to-date, helpful and useful. Thank you. BNS
13. Edna Steele Says:
I heard that the Catholic Pope in Rome was asking for prayer for Haitians and that their Catholic church and school were in rubbles. How grateful we can be that Mary Baker Eddy gave us a definition of Church that cannot be destroyed. We can pray that the Haitians gain that higher sense of everpresent church.
14. Joe Beckwith/Genoa, NV Says:
Amen! Goodness exists even in the darkest despair. Our collective prayers must help the Haitians and the world to see and know this Truth.
15. Valerie Says:
Thank you, John, for that timely and inspiring message. It was just what I needed to hear,
16. Ann K London UK Says:
Thanks John for your reassuring message. Yes God’s love is everpresent and meets the human need however large it seems to us. We will all be reaching out to these dear people in our prayers today. Ann K.

thank you john for this message…..
with love
21. Julia Says:
Thank you so much!
22. Pat from McCaysville GA Says:
Thanks for the inspiration. I have been working on staying in “the secret place of the most High” and your message is very helpful. It is tempting to be drawn down by the pictures and commentary that we are seeing/hearing but entering into the closet of prayer, silencing the material senses, we can hear that still small voice of comfort and healing.
23. Ruthilary Says:
Good to know that we are all in God’s care every moment. Thanks John.
24. Malcolm Drummond, Henrietta NY Says:
Thank you John for that inspiring treatment. “We today can see and feel this presence (of) divine Love, feeding and healing and renewing His people, all the people of the world.”
25. Marie Says:
The steadying power of God’s love. Yes!! I can hold to that, feel it and know it. Thank you for these timely and reassuring statements of Truth.
26. Jackson from Brazil Says:
Thanks Jonh, this message is perfect and help us to overcomming through divine law of reconstruction one of the most serious moments of Haiti’s history. In Brazil we lost Mrs. Zilda Arns which was working in a voluntary and humanitarian work at Haiti – she was the great responsable to eliminate the child innutrition in Brazil and a great woman of social causes. A long time ago Brazil has sent soldiers to integrate ONU’s group to help Haitians, and specialy now Brazil is sending aircrafts and watercraft and financial aid to Haiti. Thank you so much for this message and thanks for all inspired comments and prayers for Haiti!
27. Martin Says:
Thank you John Tyler for the timely message. This continues the church in action that the Christian Science Monitor, the articles at spirituality, com, and other metaphysical and practical activities of Christian Scientist throughout the world are doing as we join in harmony with the world response to help our friends in Haiti
28. Faye’s gratitude!! Says:
Thank you for the comfort you shared today, that we can share with other to make a difference in prayer for those Beloved children of Father/Mother Love.
29. Margaret, Sunshine Coast, Australia Says:
Thank you for your compassionate and uplifting prayer for the Haitians, John. The world immediately responds to the need for help now, with fresh water, food, clothes and tent cities for the living. They will be comforted; their needs will be supplied; and out of devastation Haiti will rise and be regenerated.
In Australia we are also praying for the safety of Jessica Watson, from here on the Sunshine Coast, attempting to be the youngest woman ever to sail solo around the world. Our prayers and the prayers of tmcyouth.com have been with her as she has successfully rounded Cape Horn in 40 knot winds.
All of Mind’s ideas are inseparable from the Christ, Truth, and “dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91: 1
30. r.g.d. Says:
I met a litle girl on a flight from Florida to Baltimore after the Christmas Holiday. She was from Haiti and she was on her way to school. I am grateful that God speaks to individual consciousness and that everyone has the same opportunity, when we are receptive.
Thanks Nathan or John both.
31. Shelagh; Scotland Says:
Thank you John for your response to the earthquake.
I had been struggling to know quite how to “view” this Scientifically, couldn’t quiet my thought enough.
Pausing to listen to your Daily Lift has given me my spiritual perspective back.
Merci beaucoup!
32. Christine from WV Says:
John,
Right on target to see the unreality of anything that would even try to suggest man, the forever expression of life, could never be interupted, “God was not in the earthquake”. Thank you for your lovely support.
Your friend in WV.
Christine
33. Linda from Easton Says:
How grateful I am for this site. This site enables us to share our spiritual loafs and fishes with one another. Thank you John for the reminder not to look at the destruction. My thoughts center on “Behold, I create all things new.” What a promise and blessing that is and will continue to be for those in Haiti. The planes landing with relief supplies are evidence of “what blesses one blesses all.” Hurray that China has sent a plane load of earthquake-experienced first responders with their dogs to help in the rescue. As nations and individuals respond to this need, we also can follow this example in responding to other world situations such as wars by such loving expressions in thought, word, and deed.
34. Cathy of St. George Island Says:
John,
Thank you so much for that reminder to “look away” from these pictures of destruction. Just as Elena pointed out in her comments, as I started to become overwhelmed yesterday with the tragedy, I, too, thought of Elijah. “God is not in the earthquake. God is not in the wind. God is not in the fire. God is in the Still Small Voice (of Truth and Love). That helped me to turn away from this material tragedy and reinforce my prayers for Haiti with the still small voice – knowing we are all able to feel the Divine Comforter no matter what the human circumstances may scream. With Gratitude to you all for taking the time to put this program together!
35. Lorraine in Dayton, Ohio Says:
Thank you, John, for reminding us that Love knows no barriers but indeed fills all space and meets every need – in Haiti and everywhere. I’m grateful.
36. bea Says:
‘away from the destruction~~~I think we do acknowledge that–and thanks for this very present help I needed it too, as so many have commented—–in order to pray for the people of Haiti
37. Chet Says:

Thank you for those calm reassuring words of Love for all mankind everywhere that show that none are outside of or beyond the care of divine Love no matter what the material picture may be as Moses found. Love, God is able to feed and restore all. God is All.
41. Tanja Says:
Thank you.
42. Daniele. Ca Says:
Thank you for the Daily Lift!
It’s a great way to start the day, to keep focus on the Truth, and stay there.
This is our comfort and security.
43. James Says:
Our first reader asked during the normal time for silent prayer at our Wednesday Evening Meeting that we include some time for prayer for those involved in the Haiti relief effort. If we all did this, I’m sure the cleanup, rescue and restoration would move quickly and harmoniously. Thanks for your Lift!
44. June Mary Says:
Thanks so much, John, for that truth poured forth. I take it in like a big, thirsty, sponge.
45. Sherwood Collins, New Orleans Says:
Beautiful thoughts; they are all untouched by error; pure, perfect, whole. Love is lifting all of them and us up.
46. Helen Says:
Thank you, John for your helpful and loving message.

49. Heidi S Says:
You are right John, Love is the most powerful thing, not human love, but lovc from God, Divine Love. It heals everything and is the only power. And it is present in Haiti. Thanks for your prayers for Haiti and for all of us.
50. Lise M. from Montréal Says:
Dear John,my brother ! thank you dearly.
…the essence of my testimony last night at the church was so close to your
message of today, “ like brotherbirds ` …“on the same branch bent` from Hymn 30.
My heart and my prayers are reaching out to all the people of Haiti along brotherly affection and support to the Christian Science Society of Port- de-Paix, united in Love.
51. Jim Dalrymple Says:
Thanks John. This is a good message. We don’t need to pray for God’s hand or strenghth to be present, but to affirm that it is already present and working in wonderful ways! The beautiful people in Haiti are included in that strength and presence.
52. Jan J – Grass Valley, CA Says:
Thank you for this very timely Lift!
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38,39)
We know that this Love is at hand, bringing comfort, and being made practical in Haiti right now.
53. Marcia Says:
I’m especially grateful for the Daily Lift today. It has been so helpful in knowing how to pray about the situation in Haiti, and it has lifted my thought to the omnipresence and omnipotence of God, a loving presence in the life of every child of God.
54. Mary H Says:
My thanks go out to all, and we know that God is with each and every one in Haiti and they will keep going on and rebuilding because God Love is with them.
55. Missy Says:
Oh, thank you for this message, John. All day yesterday I felt the mental tug of “oh, this country has always been so poor, no infrastructure, a history of corruption, etc., how will they ever make it now?” but coming to my rescue was the Christ, reminding me that this country, its citizens, its government, its infrastructure, the relief efforts, all belong to God, Spirit, who is in complete control right this moment and every moment. This same Christ is active and on the scene in Haiti — guiding, uplifting, healing, nourishing, upholding everyone.
56. jrc from sacramento Says:
The Daily Lift is a resource of untold proportions. Thank you.
57. Kris Says:
Thank you for this powerful message, John, and thank you Chet #37 for directing us to the tmcyouth site. Worldwide prayer will bring healing to Haiti. I am grateful for all the resources we have: the Bible Lesson on LIFE this week, the up to date information from the Christian Science Monitor, the prayer watch forum on tmcyouth.com and the Daily Lift, all things working together for good. Prayer is power.
58. HAL SAYS. Says:
THANKYOU JOHN ; YOUR COMFORTING MESSAGE, OF BROTHERLY LOVE WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS. GOD BLESS!
59. Jen D Says:
“Is the Lord’s hand waxed short?” I love that! This isn’t even a hiccup to the vastness, the infinitude of Love’s goodness. God is constant, consistent, all good. Mrs. Eddy wrote, “In consistency is progress.” In Love’s unconditional, constant tender care is progress, is renewal, is home. It’s the most natural thing in the world for us to turn to this certainty. There isn’t a time or place or circumstance outside of Mind’s knowing and Love’s provision. “All that really exists is the divine Mind and its idea, and in this Mind the entire being is found harmonious and eternal.” And Mind is unfolding the most practical, efficient, effective steps to care for the people of Haiti.
60. Cici from Los Angeles Says:
Thank you, John. I felt your message with such deep love and compassion for the whole world. To constantly know that God’s greatness and pure love for his creation is truth and is powerful. We all need to be reminded to look away from this human struggle and pray to see God’s divine love that be. As hymn #342 says in part, “Stand in His presence, unafraid”, and #179 “Love is our answered prayer”. I am infinitely grateful for all these wonderful truths about how we always expect God’s goodness. Peace, joy and love to all!!!
61. Tracy C-K Says:
I am very grateful we are continuing to focus our prayers on Haiti – yesterday’s Lift and comments had strong supportive ideas as today does. At my branch church Testimony Meeting one testifyier related burning his hand and the vigilant prayer & disciplining of his thought that was necessary to heal the intense discomfort and effects. The tremendous effort brought a complete healing and he said he was now challenging himself to bring the same vigilant, consecrated prayer to the situation in Haiti. Sometimes it is easy to feel removed from such world difficulties and I really appreciate the provision of the Daily Lift and the Lift community of commentors as a wonderful structure to pray together specifically & effectively.
62. Jean Humburg Says:
I awoke before dawn and was tempted tp turn on the morning news for an update on the earthquake in Haiti. i really did not want to view the pictures again of the suffering and needed assurance that God was indeed present despite the material scene. The answer was right there,as I knew it would, as I went to my Daily Lift. Thank you John, and all of you for helping me find comfort in my thought so I, too, can be a help to those dear brothers and sisters in Haiti. Jean from Penn Valley,CA
63. Lori B Says:
Just reading this yesterday. “Science defines ‘omnipresence’ as universality, that which precludes the presence of evil. This verity annuls the testimony of the senses, which say that sin is an evil power, and substance is perishable.” (“Science and the Senses”, Miscellaneous Writings, Mary Baker Eddy, p 102. You’ve prompted me, John, to allow this to permeat my thought to-day. Thank you!
64. Georgia Says:
Your positive message was just what was needed to lift thought above the disturbing picture of destruction. Jan’s reminder from Romans 8 says it all.
Many thanks!
65. Audrey Says:
John, thank you soooo very much for the comforting thoughts and Truth shared with the entire world, including me.
66. margaret Says:
Thank you everyone for contributing and offering your prayers as well…….and thanks John. I think of the line from the hymn, “uplift your thought, with courage go, give of your hearts rich overflow….”
67. Stephen Pierce Says:
Thank you. Yes, as we start praying by trusting God first. In the human level we need to communicate with the world and do something about about it. “Love is something that we do”
It will never make us less spiritual if we write a generous check for this time and send it to The International Red Cross and will help those that are hungry right now.

68. Jeanne Says:
Thank you for these uplifting thoughts. “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need.” We all have an opportunity to see Haiti as God-filled and Love-embraced. Those of us who experienced the 9/11 tragedy in New York, can attest that we felt the world’s prayers, which seemed at the time like a soft and protective blanket in the midst of the first days’ confusion. Our prayers can provide mental relief, every bit as important as the supplies and human aid that will pour in. Thank you for the always wonderful Daily Lift.
69. Dwight Says:
Thank you for these beautiful, soothing and timely words, John.
70. Ann R. Says:
Thank you. Inspiring. While I was listening I felt the overwhelming urge to embrace every Haitian with love in my thought. Love, love, love. That is what is going to displace the sense of helplessness I have been feeling since hearing of this.
71. Peggy A. Says:
So grateful for this daily lift. the thoughts of how to be of help to the people of Haiti….that steadying influence is surely felt by all here and there. Thank you so much.. and to all for the comments.
72. Cathy from Oregon Says:
I was so happy to see the title of this “lift” – I went to bed last night with a heavy heart and just felt like I wanted to do something but felt so helpless. I prayed of course, and then decided to start today by finding a good place to donate some $$. And Voila! – here you are with lots of “answers”! Keep lookin’ up!
73. Sharon Carper Says:
Thanks, John. While I work on the State Department’s Haiti Task Force (helping to find missing Americans in Haiti) your words are a comfort to me and I’m taking them into the Task Force room! It’s enlightening to know that no one deserves to suffer – God isn’t punishing some people and causing them to suffer. We can all reach out to our fellow man and embrace them!
74. David Says:
With all the love in my heart, I’d like to second what Stephen (#67) wrote above and thank Shannon for posting the link to donation centers. Thanks to the Monitor as well.
Let’s face it. We don’t want to be the ones who pass with pity the injured man in the road. We want to be the Samaritan who stops and gives tangible help.
Seeing beyond tragedy allows us to mobilize (instead of getting frozen with dismay). The only true comfort comes from tangibly helping. I think the purpose of prayer in these times is to spur and guide action.
Our church made news recently by sending so many letters to Congress asking that spiritual treatment be included in the healthcare reform. It would be nice if we made the news for sending as many contributions to those in need.
75. Marilyn from Maine Says:
Thanks. There is a lot being said about damaged structures and infrastructure. The April 1983 Christian Science Journal has a long, thoughtful editorial by Nate Talbot called “Structure” that has much food for thought. That issue marked the 100th anniversary of the Journal, and it is a powerhouse issue!
76. Daisy Says:
I was just sitting in comfy chair in my warm house reading the lesson and trying to pray for Haiti. I have so much and they have so little today. This broadcast was a wonderful message and a great comfort. thank you.
77. Carol H. FL. Says:
John thank you, for your healing message today for Haiti! After reading comment #11 I started to sing hymn #135 in our hymnal! I was grateful for this comforting idea! I am grateful to John and everyone for their loving and up lifting thoughts!
78. Sandy Says:
Thank you so much, John! What a unifying and uplifting moment to listen to your words of encouragement today. I find it particularly helpful to consider the “steadying power of God’s love.” God’s love is steadfast, uninterrupted and constant. The people of Haiti and the world are blessed today and everyday. Thank you to all who share such powerful ideas on these daily lifts.
79. JD Says:
Thanks! I just listened to Chet’s(#37) link to prayerwatch at tmcyouth.com and it’s wonderful. I wasn’t sure I had the time to listen to it, but was glad I made the time. I feel a buoyancy about the situation in Haiti that I didn’t feel before. The Student’s Reference Dictionary defines buoyancy as “specific lightness.”
Regarding her research of the Bible for answers, Mrs. Eddy wrote, “The search was sweet, calm, and buoyant with hope, not selfish or depressing.”
“Divine Love is never so near as when all earthly joys seem most afar.” (Miscellany, pg.290)
80. kathy Says:
Thanks so much John. As always we can count on you to lift our thoughts above the pictures of desolation and despair, and show us how to see the divine facts where God is embracing all of His precious children.
81. Sandra C of GA Says:
Thank you, John for this uplifting Uplift. As I enter this comment 79 others have done the same, a warmth and joyousness arose in me full of gratitude that we can all communicate this love for our fellow man.Like the woman that Jesus watched give the last of all she had we are all giving with either money or prayer. The Bible tells us that God is an AWESOME GOD; also Stand still and behold the wonderous works of God. These we shall see in days to come for God is already there. My gratitude to all who made this needed lift possible.
82. J.S. in Ky Says:
For all in Haiti, and still facing the aftermath, I offer my favorite prayer, by Mrs. Eddy in S&H, pg.6, ‘”God is Love.” More than this, we cannot ask, higher we cannot look, farther we cannot go.”Haiti can’t have less. Usually, the last part meant I didn’t have to be somewhere else “to get” something needed.” Applying it to Haiti, and reading both day’s comments, I saw something stronger. I don’t have to go farther in order “to give”. So many gave love and healing quotes. On the surface, it could (to someone unfamiliar with CS prayer,) seem to be just an exchange of loving, hopeful thinking. Actually, of these new friends of Chris (yesterday’s lift) and of all the people in Haiti, most can’t go there, and don’t have to go to give effectively, because desire is prayer. We know God answers prayer, not by being persuaded to “do something” but prayer tunes us in to know divine Mind’s constant care was never shaken. Those right thoughts are powerful healing prayers. They’re answered with sufficient, on scene, progress, provision, and healing comfort. Love doesn’t have to have “more” to meet the people’s need, for Love is right where all the people in Haiti are. Our prayers, thanks to Mrs. Eddy, aren’t “asking God to be God so He’d better get busy there”; they’re affirmative treatments, recognizing His care. In the face of news reports with pictures, we can cling to, and be “eye witnesses” to Truth. Life. We can know that helpers who can go, equipment, and supplies, as well as inspiration, guidance, strength, and everything else useful, are there. Everyone in Haiti is right with God, and He has no lack. Our prayers cannot be more effective if we traveled many miles, for they affirm the Allness of God, Love. Jesus healed with “absent” treatment, and so many CS testimonies involve absent treatment, proving Jesus meant it when he said the works that he did , we could do also. I don’t need to remind most listening to the daily lift. Maybe someone new to CS teachings will realize how effective they can be, too. We aren’t invading individuals with unasked-for treatment, but are treating the public claim of error. We can blanket each one with love, because Jesus told us to love others as our self. That useful love is reaching everyone in Haiti, or anywhere else in the world, where it’s needed. Not just a warm mental embrace, it’s translated into various good work and actions going on there now. Our mental “broadcast” is reaching the thoughts of everyone there, voicing hope, courage, strength, healing, sufficiency, and love. The love expressed by John, and everyone else today, is strong enough to reach that far, with results.
83. Lyn Says:
Thank you John. Just what we need to know now and always.
84. ROB NAGEL Says:
LIKE ELENA (No. 11) I THOUGHT ABOUT GOD ‘NOT’ BEING IN THE EARTHQUAKE, BECAUSE GOD, LOVE, CAN’T BE IN WHAT IS NOT. JOHN, YOUR REMINDER THAT GOD IS LOVE ITSELF AND EMBRACES ALL, INCLUDING ALL THOSE IN HAITI IS SO VITAL AND NEEDED. AFTER HEARING WHAT TELEVANGELIST PAT ROBERTSON SAID ABOUT HAITI HAVING MADE A PACT WITH THE ‘DEVIL’ AND GETTING WHAT THEY DESERVED…IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE GOD AS ONLY LOVE AND THAT NO OTHER DEVILISH POWER REALLY EXISTS TO SAY OR DO OTHERWISE. LOOKING AWAY FROM ERRONEOUS VIEWS AND SEEING ONLY WHAT GOD SEES AND FEELING ONLY WHAT GOD FEELS WILL HELP SETTLE THE TURMOIL AND BRING ORDER AND PEACE TO HAITI AND ITS PEOPLE.
85. Cathy in El Paso, TX Says:
This is such a wonderful treatment for us all , and an excellent counterpoint to the erroneous thought that this is in some way a retribution from God for some pact with the devil the Haitian people made two centuries ago. God is the only power and the Haitian people will come out of this stronger than ever.
86. Cynthia Says:
Thank you John for this beautiful and comforting thought. So powerful for us all to hold on to.
87. Debra Says:
Thank you John. Perfect.
Another easy way to donate $10 to the Red Cross (which can be confirmed by going to the White House website http://www.whitehouse.gov/haitiearthquake) is to text HAITI to 90999. $10 will be added to your phone bill.
88. Diane Says:
Thank you so much for this lift today and for so many prayerful replies. I have prayed in many ways today about this need, but was most helped by opening my hymnbook (randomly…no such thing!) to #35. Applying each line to the people of Haiti was most powerful. The Christ light DOES and IS and WILL fill the hearts, thoughts, and needs of all with a sense of God’s tender near presence, His close companioning. To paraphrase the last verse, Visit then this soul of theirs, Pierce the gloom of sin and grief, Fill them, radiancy divine, scatter all their, and our, unbelief/ignorance of God’s present power to heal and help and comfort and guide.
89. Maria Elvira – Brasil Says:
Thank you, John for your timely uplift!
You´re right, I can see and feel this remarkable presence of God´s love in action in the midst of this unthinkable tragedy!
I´ve just watched the newscast in TV and I could realize God in action when
we see the whole world moving around to help our brothers from Haiti.
The reporter added that maybe we never saw such a huge and fast movement towards this help to Haiti.
For sure we can hold to this powerful Presence and be still, for our Father-Mother God never let any of His beloved Children along the way, ever.
90. Kathy M. Says:
I am so happy to see the list of comments and prayers going out to those in need. I am reminded that Jesus tells us to be a good samaritan. This means if at all possible to also give financial support to a reputable charity along with our prayers and Love to help aid those in need. We can care for our brother and sisters just as Christ Jesus asked us to do. Thank you for your inspiration. Kathy, Olympia, WA.
91. Connie Says:
Dear John,
I so appreciated your beautiful message today. Rather than getting overly caught up in the emotional shaking and mental aftershocks accompanying the merely mortal view of this situation, I really needed to know and feel that “steadying power of God’s love” in my own thought, too. What you and all the commentors have said is so helpful.
Much love to all!
92. Cheryl Says:
Thank you. My brother is down in Haiti working on a project and got caught in this. I can see that he is being protected and guided right now in the right way. God’s Love is all around him.
93. Casse, Takoma Park, MD USA Says:
Dear John, Thank you for turning our gaze ever upward. Like many of my Christian siblings, I was praying Wednesday morning to uplift my thought about the people of Haiti in the wake of the earthquake Tuesday, and the thought came, ‘Help is on the way!’ This thought, of course, was based on what I had heard or seen of all the mobilization of help going on around the world for Haiti. While these acts of compassion are powerful in their expressions of Love, a second thought immediately overshadowed the first, ‘Help is at hand!’ Clearly, the first thought was of the flesh, and the second was of the Spirit. It is the exact character of our Father-Mother God to supersede our limited, human vantage point with the unlimited reality of Truth, ‘Help is always at hand!’
I sat letting this fact of God, Good, permeate my consciousness, and I saw with my mind’s eye all kinds of people in all the areas in and around Port-au-Prince reaching out their hands and finding immediate, perfect help for their situation. In that moment I learned, yet again, we are hid with Christ in God in that secret place of prayerful communication with the Most High, where there is no time, space, nor manifestation of the mesmerism of destruction or death. Everything unlike God, Good, is eradicated by Truth. ‘Help is at hand!’ Yours in Christ.
94. John Tyler Says:
What a joy to see how many have lifted their vision to see the infinite provision divine Love continues to pour forth — as Hagar, when God opened her eyes, to see the well of water there in the desert. We can be grateful, not only that Love is pouring forth, but that that divine Love is intelligently directing, coordinating, blessing its creation. Above all, grateful that the Christ continues to awaken us all to see the new birth going on continually.
95. Ogom Says:
Thanks John for taking the gloom out of our faces by reminding us of God’s ever present love. Psalm 139 sums it up: ‘Wither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost part of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me: even the night shall be light about me.” ANd Mrs Eddy’s assurance that we are never for an instant seperated from God’s Love gives us the courage to continue praying even in the face of such disaster. God bless you for this timely sermon.
96. Paul Marthaler Says:
Great thought, John! Whenever some untoward thing happens, I pray that it “never was”, because God never made or created havoc in His spiritual universe. That’s all there is, in Haiti, and everywhere. We all live in a spiritual, not a material universe—as MBE has said: “there is no matter”. This may seem extreme to mortal mind, but it is the truth. And clung to persistently, it can change that horrific picture, and reinstate His order…..
97. Janet Says:
I just know that Principle, the law of God’s Love is ever in operation, wherever.
Thanks
98. Stuart Says:
“Whither shall i go from thy Spirit, oh wither shall I flee from thy presence.”
There is nowhere on earth where we are exempted by the love and care of God. God knows nothing but harmony and His wings shelter everyone and everything. Divine Love has met, and will meet EVERY human need.

100. Michele, So. Carolina Says:
Thanks this morning to John’s healing message and to all my new 97 friends sharing with me and affirming God’s ever presence care for His much loved children. I, too was mesmerized yesterday by the media reporting with the constant repeat of the devastation in Haiti. Because of our prayers for our fellowmen, I know we will see/hear many healing messages of God’s constant care today.
101. Carol Says:
What a wonderful message! How true that we must lift our thoughts above what the human scene appears to be. “God is not in the earthquake, wind or fire” as the Bible states but in the still small voice as Jacob discovered.
102. Alex Wellford, Memphis Says:
Liked the thought that came to Moses in a desperate situation.
103. Nena Says:
Thank you John for this powerful prayer for our beloved sisters and brothers in Haiti..You said it all since God is all. His creation is finished, good, perfect ,beautiful and intact where there is no room for doubt, fear and chaos. In one of the Websters dictionary the defination of finish is something that completes or perfects and the end. This is where all the Children of God dwells, always in the arm of Love God,wherein we rejoice.
104. CW of Dana Point Says:
Beautiful, John! And the comments by Elena of San Diego above are terrific and right on the money. Thank you both.
105. CW of Dana Point Says:
Thank you, too, to JS in Ky.!
106. Sher Says:
Been listening to Lois and John’s prayerful words several days now and never thought about Moses being in a situation of mutiny. We read The complete Bible account of the story and know the outcome of the children of Israel, but if we didn’t know the ending of this story and were left with just the mutiny part, what choices would we make midst the fear and pictures in front of us? Moses had only one option – God’s presence, power, and love and he was able to deliver a nation with this spiritual knowledge. Thanks for showing us that side so we, too, shall all know the outcome. So Haiti’s outcome speaks to us for good on the side of God.
