5. Elena desde California says:
“You’re beautiful, perfect, loved and complete”! Thank you Marta, I guess many of us at one time or another had such a wrong concept of beauty that made us feel unloved -just because of our physical appearance. I too had secretly struggled with my self-image for years. Until Christian Science found me and I began to see myself in a whole different mirror, the one that reflects the perfect image of God. As a teenager I used to spend around an hour daily fighting with my make-up, now it’s just a few minutes and feel even better, more secure, knowing that the real me will show through anyway -and it’s not bad at all, it’s God’s image, it’s perfect!
!“Eres hermosa, perfecta, amada y completa”!

Wow, Marta ! ‘Good on you’. Once, while walking down the aisle of a supermarket, there was down a ways a young man dressed like the meanest, scariest gang member, standing and facing the grocery shelves. As I got nearer , he sneezed. From a place where he could hear me I said, “Oh, God bless you, Dear.” Then he turned and looked at me with sweet surprise and an angels smile on his face. He said, ” Thank you M’am”, with all the tender, warm regard of a beautiful, beloved child. Which he is.

40. June Mary says:
Thanks, Marta, for the inspiring message, and the many translations. It reminds me to, “Be still, and know the I AM GOD.” The everpresence and power of Soul-beauty radiating from the center of all Being, including mine. And to know that God, Life, is expressing Itself fully and individually. The more true beauty we see, the more we have to see. Someone once said, “You can’t see yourself.” Of course that is true; it is always God, all good, seeing Himself/Herself, and naming that, “Good, very good.” And there’s no end to the beautiful images that come, especially in the stillness. Lovely day, everyone!
41. Daniela from Stratford, Ontario says:
Thank you – I remember this from your lecture and I remember to tell God – Thank you God that “I am awesome” – I love the feel of that! and have shared it with many others. Thank you!
42. Lori Marquart, California says:
Dearest Marta,
What a delightful way to start the day here at 5:30 AM with your cheerful voice and inspiring message. And I loved all of the other translations you gave. It’s so comforting to know that we are designed, beautifully, by God – each and every one of us. There is no need to compare ourselves with others – we are all perfect, individual, originals. Of course, we may admire someone else, but without envy, just appreciating the beauty and variety of God’s creation.
With much love and gratitude!
Lori
43. Kathy says:
What a great message! to #30 Barbara..you were doing God’s work, and you have no idea what the impact of saying “God bless you dear’ has had on that scary, mean looking gang member. you saw beneath the scary mask, just like Jesus did when he healed. He refused to be impressed by any outward mask of disease, anger, or hate, he just simply healed. Its wonderful to know that we are all wearing a designer label, no knock off labels for us, we only get the “REAL DEAL”! Thank you Marta, and thanks to all the people who take time to comment.
44. Maria Elvira – Brasil says:
Oh, thank you very much for reminding me of my spiritual beauty and completness, God-given qualities!

What a grand Lift this morning . . .with clouds thick and cold here in central Texas. I couldn’t help to be reminded of Doris Henty and her healing of a carious bone problem of her face when she spent a morning claiming her “beauty of Holiness.” She, too, was from England back in the early 1900’s.
Thank you for your lovely expression of beauty right where you are. . . like a light radiating out to the world.
49. Priscilla Ortegon Pepke, Calif says:

We all reflect the “charms of His goodness” in this way. With New Years just a couple of days away and the resolutions that come with it, this real fact of beauty is so important to remember……thanks again!
52. Jan J – Grass Valley, CA says:
Thank you, Marta, for the best and most beautiful “designer label” gift I’ve ever received. And what’s wonderful to know, is that I’ve always had it! We all have!

54. Mike Day says:
Many Thanks Marta, This is a wonderful start for every morning reminding us to be careful about believing how others label us or we mislabel ourselves. If we read our God applied label closely we’ll see it also includes our “Content” (100% Spiritual with no man-made fibers) and the instructions for “Care and Handling” (daily baptism, wash and wear proudly, winkle free, no ironing necessary). Certainly our spiritual self is the “Garment of Praise” we all wish to wear every day.
55. Leah says:
Awesome! What a powerful analogy! I love it! Thank you!
56. Sandra C of GA says:
Thank you, Marta. You have given us the most beautiful designer label to wear with praise to our maker. Love to all.

What a beauty treatment, I feel all “baptized” and swept clean this morning after hearing your joyous message, Marta.”Man (me and mine and all!) is idea, the image of Love. What a powerful life changing message of spiritual identification! “
59. Anne S., Nova Scotia says:
Lately, I have been dealing with the material illusion of ‘aging’ and this is a wonderful reminder that “Man is in his eternal noon, undimmed by a declining sun.” God’s beauty never fades — is ever-present and eternal.. Indeed, your message is, as John (#32) commented, “an invigorating, spiritual tonic.” Thank you Marta!
60. Joan G. says:
Thank you, Marta. I really needed that message today. What an uplift!

Thank you Marta for this beautiful thought. And thank you Barbara for making everyone you meet happy.
63. Linda Bargmann says:
Thanks, Marta, and thanks especially for adding the newer translations and definitions of the words from the KJ era. I’ll add my current favorite translation, the New KJV, with all the beautiful poetry of the KJ but without all the misspelled words and cumbersome olde English:
NKJ – I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
64. JP from Tempe, AZ says:
Hello there, Marta dear! How wonderful to hear your beautiful voice and message again. You just exude Life, Truth and Love! This message reminds us that we all are the beautiful, perfect and good expression that God is being right now. Thank you.
65. Susan – Vancouver WA says:
I like what #53 Mike added to the designer label – content and care instructions. Our garment is seamless as well. Thank you for an inspiring uplift today.
66. Missy in Jerseyville says:
Oh Marta, thank you! Yes, each one of us is beautiful — full of beauty, the “beauty of holiness.” I shall cherish this idea today.
67. Kaye says:
Thank you for your message. I was in a relationship for awhile where the other person was telling me I was not attractive. He was telling me what men want and I was not it. I struggled for quite awhile and still have had short bouts of doubting my worth, but your message really helps cement that the source of our beauty is from God and it is all good and is eternal. Inner qualities as the image and likeness of God shine forth and anyone looking for those qualities will see the beauty therein. The conviction and love from your voice is beautiful!
68. Cici from Los Angeles says:
You are beautiful, Marta. Your angelic voice resonnates throughout the world, and I truly appreciate your precious message on “Just Beautiful”. I too suffered as a child of my self worth. As I was growing up in Guam, I was constantly covered with sores and scabs because of my allergy to fleas and mosquitos, and was teased alot. Those scars and hurtful feelings stayed with me for a long, long time. When I got married to an Officer in the Navy, he introduced me to Christian Science and taught me that I am beautiful, pretty and fun to be around with. He said that I have the right to feel and express beauty since I was God’s perfect child. I learned this to be so true as I have been studying Science for over 38 years now and loving every moment of it. Beauty lies from within; in God’s kingdom, everything is pure and perfect. I now know ‘just how beautiful I am and each one of us as God’s perfectly designed ideas”. Thanks a million times over!!!!
69. daniela california says:
what a reassurance that we all are beautiful,
even when mortal mind would try to ’suggest’
something else, when the five sense try to
present a material picture;
we are spiritual idea.
70. Sally San Diego says:
Hi Marta, I’m wishing you well from Kansas City. I know about 10 people who will benefit from this Daily Lift. Good time to forward these wonderful truths on! When I ask people who want help if they love themselves they often say, I didn’t know i was supposed to! You are such a light in the world for all who are going on the same path you have walked. We learn so much from each other. We are still referring to your Sun Flower moving with the Sun to remind ourselves of staying in the light. Bless you in this coming New Year and always. S
71. Brenda K, Michigan says:
Your joy, love and conviction shine through in your wonderfully inflected voice!

It made me smile from ear to ear!

74. jessica says:
That was wounderful.Thank you.
75. Jackie from Oswego, Il says:
Thank you, Marta. I am reminded of the day I was busy loading groceries into the car many years ago. I was hurrying to get home to my husband and two children, when off in the distance, I heard someone yelling “Lady!”
just as I was climbing into the car. I had traveled to a part of town where the only open grocery store was available, and the area was somewhat unfamiliar to me, and the store not very inviting. The parking lot was pretty empty and I was eager to get home.
As I looked in the direction of this “noise,” I saw a man standing next to his rather beat up looking car, and pointing demonstratively to me and then down in front of his chest. I looked away, viewing his actions as intrusive. But he continued to yell, and point. When I heard the words “purse” I began to pay attention. When he could see that I was looking at him to hear what he had to say, he said very clearly, “Lady, don’t forget your purse” and continued to gesture so that I would look in the front compartment of my grocery cart. From across the parking lot he could see that I was so distracted and hurried, I was about to leave without my purse.
I waved and gave him a hearty “Thank you,” picked up my purse and went on my way, my heart full of gratitude for this man who had become so beautiful to me that day. The transformation from a sense of irritation to one of feeling so loved and valued, was was just another telling example of how our heavenly Father Mother has created us in His lovely and loving image.
Thank you Marta for your inspiration of Love reflected in love.
76. Marilyn from Idaho says:
Thank you Marta and thank you Mike #53, I love your description on our label we wear every day, the garment of praise! Never gets old, always in perfect condition, fade resistent and always lovely. Thanks again for the LIFT.
77. Romee Hindle says:
Dear Marta,
Just perfect. And that lovely, enthusiastic voice makes it so extra. Thank you so much!! Love Romee.
78. Glynn Lewis (UK) says:
Loved your warmth and enthusiasm Marta, as always – thank you for the powerful reminder about who and what we really are.
79. JJ says:
Thanks Marta and the lift team. I love this topic of self-worth and especially the interesting Bible translations(9).
It has been said that loving others is more altruistic than loving oneself.
(and I believed that for a long time and still need to remind myself that it isn’t true)
Valuing one’s own spiritual identify as a child of God is important in order
to love others.
Jesus said in Matthew 22:37 & 38 to love God and love your neighbor. “..Thou
shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” The “as thyself” part gets overlooked.
A definition of the word “magnify” from dictionary.com is: “to cause to seem more important, to extol, to praise.” A definition of “minimize” is “to represent as having the least degree of value, importance, influence, etc., esp. in a disparaging way; belittle.”
“Magnify” from the students reference dictionary means “to elevate, to raise in estimation.” “Minify” means “to treat with contempt, to degrade.”
I just looked up the word “magnify” in the Bible. In Luke 1:46, when Mary was preparing to have Jesus, she said, “My soul doth magnify the Lord.” And she refers to herself as “his handmaiden”. A “handmaiden” is “a maid that waits at hand, a female servant or attendant”(from SRD) Mary expressed humility in her obedience to God. In verse 38 she said, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.” Her willingness to submit to God’s plan for her didn’t result in degradation. She said, “..from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.”(48)
“A dewdrop reflects the sun. Each of Christ’s little ones reflects the infinite One..
A single drop of water may help to hid the stars, or crown the tree with blossoms.
…What if the little rain should say,
‘So small a drop as I
Can ne’er refresh a drooping earth,
I’ll tarry in the sky!” (from Pulpit and Press by MB Eddy)
80. philippa says:
whooah……….starting with Marta’s ideas and reading down the line………this beauty thing is really sublime…….i am feeling ten feet tall, well loved and ready to share, maybe open a shop with Love’s designer wear!
Thank you dear Marta :0)
81. Richard Horner, Pasadena, CA says:
Ah, dear Marta! Your comments today are so autobiographical of the beautiful Christ Office which you live so fully as you travel the world and touch the hearts of so many who hunger and thirst for that Healing Christ you bring. Thank you so much for reminding us that we all wear our “designer labels” of loveliness and beauty and we wear them WITH GRACE. You, dear Marta, are such a living example of His beauty manifested. God surely does everything THROUGH AND AS MAN! That’s how He expresses Himself.
I wish you could be here in Pasadena with us for New Years morning when we host the world with our famous Rose Parade. We’ll send some of our 75 degrees and sunshine to you there in London.
With warm love from Richard in Los Angeles
82. Ruth in Alberta, Canada says:
Mrs. Eddy writes:S&H 247:19
“Comeliness and grace are independent of matter. Being possesses its qualities before they are perceived humanly. Beauty is a thing of life, which dwells forever in the eternal Mind and reflects the charms of His goodness in expression, form, outline, and color. It is Love which paints the petal with myriad hues, glances in the warm sunbeam, arches the cloud with the bow of beauty, blazons the night with starry gems, and covers earth with loveliness.” Thank you Marta, and those who responded, for the love that shines through your sharing, reflecting the sunshine of God’s Love, embracing All.
83. di-vanc says:
Our Father…the Great Architect..how could we be other than beautifully, wonderfully made? And, it never changes! Boundless, limitless being.
84. Louise, Pacific NW, USA says:
Thank you Marta and all who contributed. I’m grateful for this daily reminder that we are a part of the world wide family of man and are beautiful and ageless. Have you noticed that all the comments from everyone are ageless. There is no way to know if the comments are coming from a teen, twenty something, thirty something, etc. We are all the expression of God’s timeless existence. A special thanks to Mike # 53 for giving our content and care labels. Loved thinking of myself in those terms. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then it’s how we are seeing and not how we are being seen that matters. Have a great day everyone!
85. Christy says:
Thanks Marta, those are beautiful thoughts to remind us how much God loves everyone!
86. Martha says:
Thank you, beautiful Marta, for expressing with genuine rejoicing this lovely message! I just love your enthusiasm as God’s beautiful design!
The comment John #32 made as “an invigorating, spiritual tonic” is perfect.
I also thought of “love perfumed” stated by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
87. Sunny says:
As a daily listener and an infrequent commentor, I want to express appreciation for this outreach from the Board of Lectureship, the producers, and those who share comments, and to all who share its blessings all over the world. Love to all.

What if God missed out on one – and didn’t make me beautiful because I was born damaged – where could I find me beautiful. Poeple cringe when they see me.
94. Annie in FL says:
Thank you, dear Marta. This is just wonderful for all the world. Throught Christian Science II have come to see beauty as spiritual…didn’t realize how far I had come! I married a man who sees the true me and he has blessed me by helping me drop the typical mortal comparisons that women are tempted to make about themselves. This has freed me make good progress in becoming truly Christian —to see others as uniquely original and beautiful, loved by God, and to stop comparing . I have learned to love people.
And thank you to Mike Day for his insightful thoughts on “content” and
” care and handling!” Happy New Year of blessings to all.
95. Martha says:
Correction: “love perfumed” is in Mrs. Eddy’s hymn no. 253 (Christ My Refuge.) Thanks, Martha
96. Sarah says:
This daily lift reminded me of my journey to school when I was younger. In the car, my mom made us recite everyday “we are fearfully and wonderfully made” and reminded us that we were the perfect reflection of God. My sister and I would bounce into school knowing that we were just beautiful and perfect!
Thanks Marta – you reminded me of this lesson and I bounced into work today!
97. Anni in Berlin says:
thank you so much, dear Marta for reminding me of the “designer label”. I was just reading a few days ago this wonderful poem by Doris Peel about being God’s song, a Psalm, and a laughter of God. so this fits with your thoughts beautifully!
Much love to you!
98. Karen says:
Thanks so much!
99. ANONYMOUS says:
The recognition of this universal truth of man’s present spiritual beauty and unlimited individual self-worth always comes to us through spiritual sense. Though material-mindedness would try to get us to judge ourselves and others by merely outward appearances, the Christ-consciousness looks “…deep into realism instead of accepting only the outward sense of things.” God, divine Love, “never looses sight of loveliness”. And we can each reflect this faculty, too, mutually seeing one another through the eyes of Love and rejecting any so-called human, material stereotypes about what constitutes a beautiful body.
“Man is idea, the image of Love; he is not physique.” Only this true view of man can bring us deep and abiding contentment.
Much love to all.
100. Robin from Australia says:
Thanks Martha and everyone for such a refreshing and profound way to start the day. It makes me so grateful for every single Christian Scientist in the world. This is the Mother Church in action as we can talk to each other so readily across the globe. I also enjoyed being part of the Parliament of World Religions recently, in Melbourne. It was fantastic to be involved in an inter-faith exchange that was very valuable. Later on, I decided to go with my daughter and her new fiance, who is a Catholic, to the midnight Christmas mass at the local Catholic church. As we entered, we were each given a small tapered candle. When I sat down, I felt a rush of affection for all those faithful ones who love God and Christ. There was so much simple beauty expressed as I looked at the twinkling candles in each person’s hand, in the dimmed interior. The singing was glorious and heartfelt, expressing Soul. My new son-in-law was very touched that we wanted to go with him to church.
101. Shari in FL says:
What a wonderful concept. Thanks so much, Marta. i appreciate the comments too.
102. Joe Beckwith/Genoa, NV says:
Wow! Thank you for the BONUS MATERIAL in #9. Those are great nuggets of truth – - greater than any gold nugget, to be sure. And those nuggets will help to assure the covers of The Bible and Science & Health never stay shut!
Thanks also to the BoL for facilitating these Daily Lifts and for the many contributors – - lecturer and fellow students alike. This forum gains in meaning and value each day.
103. Jo G says:
Dearest Sues of comment No. 93 – my heart goes out to you.
The book Marta mentions in her Daily Uplift today, Science & Health with Key to the Scriptures written by Mary Baker Eddy, makes the following profound statement on page 63, line 5 to 6:
“In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry.”
You dearest Sues, are the “man” mentioned in this sentence, the offspring of Spirit, God. You are the most beautiful, who demonstrates the highest good, of the purest image possible, and this is what constitutes your true spiritual birthright. You are the most dearly beloved of God. He has never missed anyone out, especially not one so precious as you.
Mrs Eddy asks that we replace our own view of ourselves, with this “beautiful, good and pure” image, saying why our view of ourselves is so important on page 248 line 12 to line 27:
“The sculptor turns from the marble to his model in order to perfect his conception. We are all sculptors, working at various forms, moulding and chiseling thought. What is the model before mortal mind? Is it imperfection, joy, sorrow, sin, suffering? Have you accepted the mortal model?”
Mrs Eddy carries on to explain how to replace the mortal view we so often have of ourselves with the perfect spiritual image God created:
“To remedy this, we must first turn our gaze in the right direction, and then walk that way. We must form perfect models in thought and look at them continually,”
Dearest Sues, right here, right now, in this very moment, you ARE that PERFECT creation of God, you ARE indeed, most beautiful.
104. Janet P. J. says:
Sues #92 The loveliness of Love is all around. Marta found that transforming beauty, and so can you.We all have to move our thought from the physical, matter body, to the truth of our being, as the embodiment of spiritual qualities. In Science and Health is a section about beauty. St Paul said, (modern translation) wherever I go I carry the perfume of the Christ. (He started out with some violent, ugly thinking.) Another place Mrs Eddy, changed from referencing body, to using the word identity, to help us get past thinking in terms of physicality. You have an already perfect identity. God, divine Good, saw everything He had made, and called it good. Your eternal, forever perfect identity, as the image of the perfect One is the truth of your being. Doris D Henty, a longtime practitioner in England wrote a description of her revolting appearance in childhood. She clung to the fact that she had the ‘beauty of holiness’, and every physical abnormality was removed, and her whole family was blessed with major healings.
105. Tom says:
Just great!
106. John Orange County says:
Hi Marta This thought is great to start the day and tonight it is a great thought to be at peace with our Father. Thanks again.
107. Gary – Nanaimo says:
Thanks Marta for beholding the perfect man!
You’ve made me feel better than the last time
I wore a tuxedo! (That was a long time ago.)
The responses made me think of Mary Magdalene
who in sorrow mistook Jesus for a gardener.
He may have been wearing cast off clothing.
But when he called her name, beheld the perfect child,
Mary in turn recognized Jesus and that the living Christ
included her own and all identity, clothed in beauty and joy,
dignity and dominion. She had to spread the word!
108. Marta Greenwood says:
WOW – what a lot of BEAUTIFUL people there are in the comments and insights shared. Your sharing of your inspirations is such an exciting and uplifting gift to all of us. Thank YOU all for sharing it. #54- spot on. All of your gems so fabulous.
#93 Sues in 2 Cor. 2 :15 one translation of this beautiful verse is “You are the aroma of Christ”. Purity of soul has its own fragrance. Each one of us have our own fragrance, distinctly ours and it is spiritual. Take your spiritual mantle and wear it with pride. You are “the aroma of Spirit,” which. Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and Health page 191: line 32 “Mind, God, sends forth the aroma of Spirit, the atmosphere of intelligence.”
As you raise this God-designed label, that is what others will see also, your aroma, your light, your distinct spiritual beauty which is indestructible forever and never disfigures or has become damaged, but intact and whole. You reflect it through the qualities of the 7 recipes for beauty, the seven names for God in Science and Health page 465:
“Question. — What is God?
Answer. — God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite
Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love.”
In these seven names you will find your own identity and beauty untouched and intact, each time you identify with them- they are wholly spiritual and you feel soooo loved as Jo G in 103 says. Love your spiritual identity and polish your spiritual image as God’s loved and precious idea. What you wrote takes courage and the responses you will get here are the golden nuggets which will show you a beautiful you. It will help others who would want to know the answers you asked too.
109. J.S. in Ky says:
Thank you Marta, this lift has been lovely and fun- so many joined in a beauty & “fashion show”, with delightful remarks, such as Mike’s (54). I loved #19, Annette from Berlin’s, reminder that youth didn’t give beauty and age can’t take it away. I managed to get to share a tiny bit of CS thinking, when we’d attend parent-teacher conferences at our children’s schools. Often a teacher would say we didn’t look like we could have such a large family, or some other reference to age, in a pleasant way. I’d tell them that it is a scientific fact (physical science) that it takes “time” to grow old. They’d agree. Then I’d ask them what teacher or mother (or any busy person) has enough time? After a remark or two added to clarify, they appreciated the “humorous logic” enough to adjust some of their thoughts on age.
To #93 Sues, (I just read Marta’s #108, so this may not be necessary, but I got a call from family as I was writing and praying about this. ) “Listen” to #99, #103 and #104 who’ve said it well. Listen again to Marta’s Daily Lift. Instead of accepting error’s claim, hold to the truth. In S&H, 476:32-5, Mrs. Eddy says: “Jesus beheld in science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick. …” This correct view heals any problem. We must follow our way shower, Christ Jesus, and do likewise. If you’ve been seeing yourself through the eyes of mortal sense, and glass mirrors (matter mirror) you may have been believing what you described. I don’t know if you’ve studied CS long, but whether or not, please read S&H, again, and take notes anytime you read something that could relate to how you are made, and to beauty, even if not that exact word. We all have “seen” disease, troubles, etc., and if we accept that as the true view of us, or of our friends & family, then we keep having such unhealed experiences. But Mrs. Eddy gave us a BIG LIFT to use daily, which teaches us to reject matter testimony and look at spiritual realities, where nothing unlovely can be possible, because God, Spirit, made all very good. He never missed a single one., no, not you, either! Start with having beautiful thoughts concerning yourself, and concerning each day, and each one you meet in it, and replace the mortal claims with spiritual, always beautiful truths, based on what Jesus revealed about God as our Father. The beautiful and uplifting Hymn 86 says,”And blest is he who can divine where right doth really lie, and dares to side with what seems wrong to mortals’ blindfold eye;” (verse 3). It may seem strange to declare and expect truths, such as this day’s topic on beauty in everyone, but declaring those truths insistently and persistently is how we reach our demonstrations. We can’t make a truth be true; God, Truth, does. What we can do, is go over and over truths, using them whenever possible, till we come to understand why they are true, and accepting them, the untruths are replaced in our lives. When someone seems to see wrong with you, it is not your wrong, but they need prayerful uplifting, for they believe they’ve experienced less than the lovely in their world. You cannot be unlovely, ever!Correct in your thought how others see you. If seeing yourself as beautiful, right now seems difficult to accept, try seeing others, without comparing them to yourself or to someone else, by working hard to find even a single touch of beauty in what they do or say. You can compare between what mortal sense testimony claims against what Soul, God, the only Creator makes, and reject the false claim, even if error parades so called “proof” to bolster its lies. Beautiful thoughts will be expressed outwardly, in yourself and all around you, as you work to see beauty everywhere and in everyone, especially where it seems not to be. Mrs. Eddy calls it ” seeking his own in another’s good.” (S&H 518:15-19) ,for others do need to be seen as beautiful, in thought and deed. Her spiritual interpretation of the Lord’s prayer, says, “Love is reflected in love”. The Beauty of Soul is reflected in beauty, too. Work on this daily, don’t check progress in a mirror, and let the work become more important than the results, and you’ll find all you need in divine Love, the source of beauty. You are precious to the Father, and to us, and that is a beautiful thought to start with.
110. Maurice Dawson says:
Thank you for your uplifting thought and prayers
111. Susan Carol says:
I love the way you start with REJOICING – it is just beautiful. I also appreciate knowing what helped you change your thought- “Man is idea, the image of Love.”Also appreciate the translations and the loving words you’ve shared along with all the comments.

116. Phyllis says:
Thank you Marta for your mental face-lift to mans eternal God given beauty.
117. Hope says:
A day later I come back to this lift because I have been pondering it so often. In particular #54 with the clear label stating I am 100% spiritual with no man made fibers, wash and wear proudly, wrinkle free, etc. What a user-friendly thought! Many thanks…………….
I’m glad I came back………….. lots more wonderful thinking along the same lines. I surely do appreciate these daily lifts!
118. Sher says:
Sues, here is something I have been contemplating myself brought to light again with Marta’s reminder to look at all around us as beautiful, I am again reminded to hold myself in this view too rather than being outside of it. There are different forms of beauty. When we think of beauty we have a tendency to think only in terms of the physical, some have it, some don’t or I don’t. But begin to contemplate this side of beauty, the beauty of loving, the beauty of joy (as we so hear in Marta’s voice), the beauty of silence, the beauty of peace, the beauty of gratitude, the beauty of a smile, the beauty of a child’s delight, the beauty of color, the beauty of each moment of progress etc. There beauty resides within your own consciousness as the acknowledgement of its everpresence. It unselfs the desires,Rather than focusing on I wanna be beautiful and I’m not gonna be thought shifts to I want to see beauty for beauty is being not possessing. Love you, Sue. Dare to love being beauty.
119. anonymous says:
I used to look in the mirror for my sense of beauty, but it turned out to be elusive and changing. I’m also seeking a higher sense of who I am and what I am.
I just read these ideas in S&H about beauty and especially like the idea of the “radiance of Soul” which symbolizes the spiritual qualities that are my true “make-up.”
“Beauty, as well as truth, is eternal; but the beauty of material things passes away, fading and fleeting as mortal belief. Custom, education, and fashion form the transient standards of mortals. Immortality, exempt from age or decay, has a glory of its own, —radiance of Soul. …The recipe of beauty is to have less illusion and more Soul,…” The book of Matthew(chapter 17:1-8) says of the transfiguration of Jesus, “..and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.”
After receiving the 10 commandments, (Exodus 34:29, 30 & 31), Moses’ face shone so much that he wore a veil.
“And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the veil upon his face again, until he went in to talk with him.”
“The manifestation of God through mortals is as light passing through the window-pane. The light and the glass never mingle, but as matter, the glass is less opaque than the walls. The mortal mind through which Truth appears most vividly is that one which has lost much materiality–much error–in order to become a better transparency for Truth. Then, like a cloud melting into thin vapor, it no longer hides the sun.” (also from S&H by MB Eddy)
I sometimes cover my face so the appearance of age won’t be as noticeable.
But, I don’t need to be “self” conscious. Now, I will try to let my light shine even if in a small degree. This lift has helped me see that beauty is letting God’s qualities be expressed in our lives, not what one looks like physically.
A tribute to Baron and Baroness de HIrsh by MBE doesn’t describe how they looked, but what they accomplished by serving God. “They were unquestionably used in a remarkable degree as instruments of divine Love. ..
Love lived in a court or cot is God exemplified, governing governments, industries, human rights, liberty, life. ….In love for man we gain the only true sense of love for God, practical good, and so rise and still rise to His image and likeness, and are made partakers of that Mind which springs the universe.”
120. Nan says:
Marta, thank you so, so much for this beautiful, heartfelt, joyous Lift. All responders, thank YOU all so, so much also. Everyone who responded to Sues, thank you for saying loving, helpful things in the best way possible. Sues, I’ve been working with the ideas of my identity being purely spiritual and of body being “the embodiment of spiritual qualities.” Sending love to you!
121. Elizabeth Bonanou from Athens Greece says:
How beautiful Marta. thanx so much
122. Mike Day says:
Thank you Hope (#117). I too have come back to this Daily Lift to contemplate Marta’s message and specifically Sues’ (#93) concern.
I have been holding Sues spiritually in my thought and sending a virtual hug wondering if I might add anything helpful.
After listening to Marta’s message, many times, her words jumped out at me. “… it is your birthright to KNOW your WORTH. You are beautiful, perfect, loved and complete”
The whole point is not just to LOOK beautiful, but to BE beautiful. To KNOW that our beauty is not a sign we wear, but tangible proof of our genuine WORTH that we share.
Looks are a distraction and seldom portray worth accurately. If you have ever seen the orchestral score of a symphony, you find little beauty on the written page. But when the music is performed by the orchestra, the result is uplifting, inspiring, enchanting, and unforgettably beautiful.
We are each performers in God’s spiritual orchestra with Him as our “director”. Our job is to follow our unique lines, be true to the arrangement and transform the written notes into tones. When we interact with the other performers, total harmony is divinely assured and always beautiful. We don’t have to make our worth fit into other’s expectations. We don’t need to force our notes to be in harmony with theirs. That all comes normally and naturally.
The Director has the ultimate responsibility (and infinite control) for the overall performance and the individual interactions of the music and the performers. When properly executed, we become one with the music and don’t stand out. Our true beauty is in Soul. We blend, like a single note, among many. An individual note is never heard unless it is discordant and that has no place in your performance.
I like the quote from the movie “Shrek” when Princess Fiona is transformed by love’s first kiss:
Shrek: Fiona? Are you all right?
[Stands up and looks at herself, then at Shrek]
Princess Fiona: Yes. But, I don’t understand. I’m supposed to be beautiful.
Shrek: But you are beautiful.
[They kiss and live happily ever after]
I know that may sound trite, but the fact remains that others see beauty in you that you may have overlooked in yourself. So resolve to BE BEAUTIFUL. That is your true worth. I assure you it is what the world needs most from you and all that God requires from any one of His performers.
I’m proud to be in the band with you and all of the other participants above.
123. Brigitte, from Kinshasa/RDC says : says:
Wonderful message, Marta, many thanks .
Thank you all for worth comments. We are all beautiful. Yes ”JUST BEAUTIFUL”. A very good reminder. Thanks.
124. Sues says:
I have ived here the last two days in the screen of this computer found such grace and beauty. I wil be visiting this place many times more. Thank you for making me feel the beauty of all your souls and catch the glow from it- I will find mine too- you all gave me hope. thank you for seeing my beauty for me.
125. Jeanine says:
Awwww, Marta…you are such a lovely original…it was great to hear your lilting voice express this joyous message. Thank you for the reminder. I will be sure to check my “God-made” designer label on a daily basis!
Thank you so much!
So many wonderful comments…I work as a chaplain in the prisons and often see fellows covered in tattoos. I never miss the opportunity to tell them that of all the tattoos they have, the most important is the one written on their hearts “God loves you!”
The Bible tells us to “Mark the perfect man, behold the upright!” That sounds like a command to me…so I work at it diligently, every day!
Always bellisma!8-)

128. Cynthia says:
Lovely idea, thank you!
129. Robin from Australia says:
Good on you, Mike in #122. You gave such a powerful message to Sues and it really helped me too. I love the way Mrs Eddy uses rich figurative language to explain metaphysical points so that they resonate with us. You have done the same so well. A Christian Science lecturer who visited Australia some years ago pointed out that we are all God’s song. But we each have our own melody and style so there is no competition, just great harmony.
130. margaret says:

The joy you showed through your words is really uplifting and kind of “contageous”, if this word can be used in such a positive sense, as we do in Portuguese.
Right after hearing your lift I felt like I´m God´s masterpeace!
Indeed we are, aren´t we?
Great thought!!!
45. Elaine, Toronto says:
Thank you Marta, for that wonderful treatment. I can reflect Love all day.
46. Malcolm Drummond Henrietta NY says:
Thank you Marta. A wonderful and inspiring declaration of the Truth, spoken with conviction.
47. Stan, Durango, CO, USA says:
What a great idea. Thanks Martha.:)
48. Sammie in Texas says:
What a grand Lift this morning . . .with clouds thick and cold here in central Texas. I couldn’t help to be reminded of Doris Henty and her healing of a carious bone problem of her face when she spent a morning claiming her “beauty of Holiness.” She, too, was from England back in the early 1900’s.
Thank you for your lovely expression of beauty right where you are. . . like a light radiating out to the world.
49. Priscilla Ortegon Pepke, Calif says:
Dearest Marta: Thank you for the Wonderful message of Life in Spirit which was lovely of you to share with us so we can also pass on to others in need of this inspiring beauitiful and terrific helpful thought for today and all days.
50. Cathy, Portland, OR says:
Thank you, Marta, for this wonderful reminder – and thanks again, Daily Lift, for being out there!
51. Malissa says:
Thank you, sweet Martha, for that inspiring message. I love the passage from Science and Health where Mrs. Eddy says, “Beauty is a thing of life, which dwells forever in the eternal Mind and reflects the charms of His goodness in expression, form, outline and color.” (pg. 247)
53. Mary H says:
Thank you. What a wonderful way to start the day. We are always young and beautiful in the eyes of our Father.
57. Jean from Maryland says:
Great way to start the day and to stay with it. The multiple translations (see no. 9 from Marta,) makes me value the beautiful language of the King James Version of the Bible even more.
58. Kris says:
61. Yetty says:
Thank you so much. I needed that message as a reminder that man is beautifully crafted by God. Thank you all for the daily message that uplift our thought.
62. Ruby says, says:
Thank you Marta for this beautiful thought. And thank you Barbara for making everyone you meet happy.
63. Linda Bargmann says:
Thanks, Marta, and thanks especially for adding the newer translations and definitions of the words from the KJ era. I’ll add my current favorite translation, the New KJV, with all the beautiful poetry of the KJ but without all the misspelled words and cumbersome olde English:
NKJ – I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
69. daniela california says:
what a reassurance that we all are beautiful,
even when mortal mind would try to ’suggest’
something else, when the five sense try to
present a material picture;
we are spiritual idea.
So thank you dear Marta, for the wonderful message and the wonderful delivery of it!
It made me smile from ear to ear!
72. HERB HAMILTON from says:
What great JOY …CHEER and INSPIRATION is always present in the intros and outros of the Daily Lifts. What a wonderful frame…. for the powerful content of each Daily Lift.
The addition of the “copyright girl” is DYNAMIC… THANK YOU !!
73. Jan in Co. Springs says:
Marta, if the world could just hear your precious voice, Love would be evident everywhere. Thank you
74. jessica says:
88. Paul Marthaler says:
Ohh, what JOY, Marta! Thank you for this reminder. An appreciation of our own wondrous selves is the basis for appreciating the beauty in others!
89. Ned Garnhart says:
Marta,
I love your enthusiasm LOVE IT! Thank you so much for this message and the “turned on” way that you delivered it. Everyone who hears it is blessed!
Happy New Year! and Happy New Year to the “Hey, Hey!” dude!

92. Peggy A. says:
“Life is a thing of beauty.” thanks for this inspiring uplift today.
93. Sues says:

Thanks Marta for your inspiring ideas I so enjoyed them tonight. I love reading and taking in what everyone has to say, it’s like being in a class full of CS folk. Thanks for that.

Thank you Marta for leading off on a topic that inspired so many people. After reading all the loving responses to you and reading the ideas of support for Sues I feel a part of one grand brotherhood.
I can’t help but add my gratitude for the ‘Daily Lift’.

I’ve been away for two weeks and just returned to catch up on daily lift. Found these messages to Marta’s message wonderfully uplifting and humbling and just wanted to add my thanks to everyone who contributed. I usually read early in the morning and haven’t yet followed a dialogue like this from top to bottom…..wow…….I’m humbled and grateful and rejoicing with all the love that’s poured forth in each of these notes. thanks everyone.
