Its just after midnight here in Idaho, and up popped the “lift”….wow, I was feeling a little dark and gloomy, as exhaustion was setting in from all the errands I have been runnning….and then I heard your thoughts on light..not just a light display but a SPECTACULAR light displaiy!! When I thought about it, I had evidences of “light” being with me all day today….thanks for the reminder!

3. Anonymous says:

Ahh! A wonderful way to think and to see God’s light, it is there within us all. I will look for the light within everything and one I see, this is God’s demonstration of Love for us all, we just have to look. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

4. Pauline UK says:

Thanks Susie for those lovely ideas especially relevant just now. It really lifts our thoughts from the ‘hurry scurry’ to a higher level. To see the purity and light in everyone around us can only bless and bring harmony.

5. Ann K London UK says:

Thanks Susie that’s a great message for Christmas Eve. We will follow that light and find the Christ, Truth, shining throughout our day! We are all warmed by its glow!
Happy Christmas! Ann,

6. Sue says:

Thank you, Susie
I will come with you and see this light. Afterall, “There is no spot where God is not.”
Wow!

7. Anonymous says:

What a bright, wonderful message this morning! I love searching for Christmas lights and now I get them all year long! Thanks.

8. Brian from the UK says:

Happy Christmas everyone! Thanks for the reminder.

9. Anthony Oakley says:

Hi, Susie, and thank you.
I am actually listening to this daily lift (they are all wonderful) in my Reading Room, where I am on duty this morning. I come by bus, it’s so easy. But sometimes the bus does not come, and so it can provide an opportunity for prayer, whilst waiting.
Yesterday I watched and listened to the archived lecture Christmas presence, which told of the wonderful sign from God, in the spectacular light in the heavens, Whilst I was waiting for my bus, in the cold and grey sky, suddenly the skies opened, the clouds parted, and there was the most wonderful blue sky above. Confirmation that there is a God, and there is a bus! And sure enough the bus arrived soon after. Thank you!

10. Nancy says:

And let our light shine! Blessed Christmas to all!

11. Frances Graff-Welch says:

Thank you so much for the daily lift.

Light being a symbol of Mind, reveals one Mind and this one shining
by its own light, governing the universe, including man, in perfect
harmony. (see Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy 510:27-1 np)

This light is ever with us. What a comforting thought light is.

12. Cynthia says:

I absolutely love this, thank you and a joyous holiday to everyone!

13. Jeff says:

I just wanted to send a special thank you and Merry Christmas to Nate for his wonderfully up lifting and joyful greeting that comes forth every week day from him. Hey, hey…I love you all.

14. Eduardo says:

Thank you Susie.
I cherish your message as a beautiful Christmas present and I accept your invitation. I will be attentive to the light diplay all around.
And thanks for sharing it in Spanish: a loving gesture.

15. Joan C says:

Thank You Susie for your de lightful Lift. Good way to kick start today…and a big Thank You to Nate too for his joyful greetings.

16. Kay says:

The other day on the subway a man was reading a newspaper that seemed to be from Israel. One headline caught my attention: “Listen to the flame.” Thank you, all (producer included) who contribute Daily Lifts! They provide light for all to see and hear and understand!

17. Betty says:

I will SEE the lights today. Thank you Susie.
Merry Christmas.

18. Cherie O says:

Lovely message…including when sitting at stoplights, to “appreciate the order they bring”. I “appreciate” the Daily Lift! Thank you to you and all the other contributors.

19. Mary H says:

I will see the light of Life in all I see today and send a Christmas card to one I do not know. Merry Chriatmas io all,

20. Paul Marthaler says:

I’m spending Christmas “alone” with the Christ and my dog this year—and looking forward to it! To all those who have no family or friends to spend this time with, I send this message: you are not alone, and never an isolated idea of God! Gratitude dispels loneliness and the false suggestion that man can possibly be alone and bereft of love. Hail to the Christ Truth which is all around us and lighting our way out of the darkness of mortal beliefs!

21. Susie says:

It’s so great to hear from everyone! Mmmmmm – what a fun light display. Thanks for taking me up on the invitation today and every day. Happy Christmas!! :o )

That Christmas lecture Anthony mentions is great!! You all can watch the webcast replay at: http://christianscience.com/christmas-presence.html

And, if you want to hear a modern retelling of the Christmas story called “The Gift of Christmas Light” you can find it here:
http://tmcyouth.com/media/podcasts/tmcyouth-podcasts/the-gift-of-christmas-light

Enjoy, and shine on!! :o )

22. Sandy of Moscow Mills, Missouri says:

Susie, I thought today was rather gloomy and I wasn’t looking forward to the last minute shopping I need to do. Then I listened to your inspiring message. The day has now brightened and I’m looking forward to seeing the order, peace, joy and beauty from the light displays I’ll be encountering. Thanks for sharing! And have a wonderful Christmas everyone.

23. Bev Newsham – Sandpoint, ID says:

Thanks, Susie! Yes! As an old hymn says: “This little Light of mine, I’m gonna let it Shine!” Happy Shining, Everyone!

24. BJSF, Plano, TX says:

Many thanks for this loving “CHRISTMAS EVE GIFT” . to all ! ! !

25. Mary says:

Thank you, Susie and thanks to all. And “Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift”–the Christ, Truth, the light of the world. I can experience real joy at Christmas by remembering “the reason for the season” and need to be reminded constantly as the worldly thought would like to crash the party, so to speak. Let’s all let our light shine, and witness this light. The world needs it!

26. Malcolm Drummond Henrietta NY says:

Thank you Susie. That was a most inspiring lift. “See God’s light everywhere! I will shine towards others!” Greetings from St. Louis MO.

27. Christopher from Germany says:

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

28. Jan J – Grass Valley, CA says:

Thank you for the invitation, Susie … actually the reminder that the Light is always there! And we can see it and reflect it! Happy Christmast to All!

29. June Mary says:

Thanks, Susie. Seeing Divine Light everywhere certainly dispels fear. And there was light! Happy Day everyone!

30. Olivia says:

Susie, I was just yesterday thinking that we hadn’t heard a “Lift” from you in a while — and hoping we would. Well, my wish was granted, and then some — spectacularly so!

That spectacular light display you witnessed is precious, Anthony Oakley! You prepared yourself well to see it, as the shepherds and wise men did upon Jesus’ birth.

May Christ’s manger-humble purity, peace, love and light shine in every heart toward ALL creatures this Christmas, and every day. :-)

31. Betty Louise says:

Thank you for your good thoughts today. During this busy time of year, I will make every effort to make my own light display and carry it with me wherever I go.

32. Susan Carol says:

Your voice is so clear! I love what you said “I will see the light as able to shine through and dissolve darkness.” Thank- you for this pure idea!

33. Marjory says:

What a wonderful light display! During this time of the year in the northern hemisphere it may indeed seem the longest days of the year and yet out of darkness we come into the light of Christ’s appearing, the morning star is shining in each kindness we witness and the risen day. This morning I could hear the shovels at work in the snow and was able to share cups of hot chocolate instead of a cold cup of water with some of the workers. We may not communicate in the same language, but universal love warmed us all. Merry Christmas and thank you for the Daily Lifts to start each day.

34. Yvonne M.H.,Trinidad, W.I. says:

Thank you. All the “Daily Lifts” have been very, very helpful and inspiring to me during this Christmas season. In a very practical and for me an amazing way I am calm, joyous and all prepared for Christmas morning. No need or urge to hurry with last minute chores. I am really experiencing the Light and Joy that is Christmas.
HOLY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

35. Bruce – Chapel Hill, NC says:

Thank you Susie for such a timely message. I will see the Light too. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2010.

36. Tracy C-K says:

Thank you for this wonderful Lift and to all involved in making them happen. This is a wonderful source of inspiration – one of our “lights” to acknowledge! Susie, I too, loved your phrase #18 quotes about the stop lights representing order; it’s resolving “things into thoughts” as Mrs.Eddy speaks of on page 123 of Science & Health. Stopping to see the spiritual substance of God’s goodness present, one glimpses that right where darkness seems to be, God, Good is, and all is well. I will enjoy continuing to acknowledge this light display! Merry Christmas & huge hugs to all the Lift staff & the Lift audience and cherished commentors! My favorite gift of 2009 was Your Daily Lift!

37. rrh says:

Merry Christmas, Susie….and to everyone else, too. All the best to everyone in 2010 !!

38. Kris says:

Let there be light! It’s everywhere, even in the “dark and hidden places” !(Hymnal). What a wonderful uplift for today, Susie, and so joyously presented. Thank you and Merry Christmas to all the Daily Lift readers, my early morning friends!

39. Maria Elvira – Brasil says:

Thank you, Susie for inviting me to see this spectacular light display that reveals God´s holy presence in everyone´s life!
This is the one of the most precious gift we´ve got from Christian Science – to be aware of the ever present goodness in our lives.
Tonight all my family will be gathered here, at my place, for our Christmas celebration and, for sure we will be able to behold this light that emanates equally from all God´s beloved children.
Merry Christmas to all of you!

40. Bill in Clearwater, Florida says:

Thanks again to all the lecturers and staff!
Instead of closing the RR due to Christmas Eve, I will let the light shine as well as watch “Christmas Presence”.
Thank you Susie!

41. Ron says:

Thank you Susie and thank you to all the contributors. I second Jeff’s comment (see #13). Merry Christmas everyone.

42. Marilyn says:

I am iced in this Christmas eve day, and my dinner guests will not be able to be here. How fortunate that I will have time to consider all the beautiful light displays. Thank you to the speakers, producers and responders to the Uplift team. It has been such a great addition to my understanding this year.

43. Robin Calif. says:

Thank you for the joyous lift on this Christmas eve. No matter how hard error speaks to us , we can see through it, because of the power of light.
Merry Christmas everyone!

44. Joy H from Canada says:

Beautiful! Thanks Susie.
Thanks for the invitation to come and see the lights — and remember to BE the light too!
“Arise, shine, for your light is come…” an invitation from Isaiah.
And remember Jesus said “I am the light of the world!”
So – no shortage of beautiful lights — and this is better than LED energy-saving lights!
a happy Christmas and new year full of light — to all!

45. Ray Bridge of Sarasota says:

Thank you. The light of Truth and Love (God) that dwells within us is visible in all humanity — if you continually look for it. This message about exercising patience with outwardly annoying circumstances and realizing the good purpose behind seeming inconvenience is excellent. I would add that seeing the REAL person, instead of dwelling on petty antagonisms that sometimes arise to challenge our serenity ALWAYS has a tonic effect.

Merry Christmas!

46. Jeffrey McKay says:

You do a good lift. Thanks.

47. Jack Kamper says:

THANKS FOR THAT EXCELLENT THOUGHT, SUZIE! AS MY FATHER USED TO SAY IN THE MORNING, “RISE AND SHINE”. BEAUTY IS INDEED IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER.
SO LET’S ALL BEHOLD ALL DAY – EVERY DAY!

48. Mike Jackson says:

Susie, thanks for sharing your bright light today. Have a very merry Christmas!

49. Susan – Vancouver WA says:

Thank you everyone who works to make the Daily Lifts possible. I feel the love and support from all of you in Boston and all of you out there. A blessed Christmas to all of you. I will look for light today. Thank you #11 for your comforting thought that the light is ever with us. I will hold to that today. Bless you all and thanks be to God and to Jesus and to Mrs. Eddy.

50. Kuteesa, Jackson. says:

Thanks so much Susie for the message.

51. Rene – California says:

Thank you, Susie, for your inspiring Lift for today and every day! Seeing and being that Light that is truly shining in each one of us is so important. And we can see this Light in everyone we come in contact with today and every day! I love this week’s Sentinel – it’s all about the Newness of Life that is all around us – and expecting it in the new year! Merry Christmas to all of our lecturers, and to Nate, and to everyone of my fellow commentors!

52. Kate in Pebble Beach says:

Amazing…Thank you and Love to All……

53. Peggy A. says:

Your lovely voice and message was a great thought for today and everyday…
the stop light idea is great…the daily lifts have been wonderful and thanks to all involved. A very Merry Christmas indeed.

54. Lyn says:

Thank you Susie, That really makes my day much brighter. Seeing a beautiful light display in everyone and everything. Even your voice explodes with a display of light and good.

55. K Hawaii says:

Merry Christmas and thanks to all connected with the Daily Lift–whether in production technically or writing comments. This idea seems to be finding a most responsive audience and I feel it is doing tremendous good to all concerrned. It is all a manifestation of the Light, everpresent and powerful. There is a great wakeup call in these messages and it is interesting to see the interaction between responders in finding old friends, building on a comment by another, opening mental eyes early in the morning where possible. Keep up the good work, staff and all, and let the light shine more brightly as our understanding expands to utilize the unfoldment for many. Have a great day everyone and welcome in the Christ presence.

56. Sunny says:

Thank you for the invitation and reminder that we can see a spectacular display of light emanating from all those around us. God is right here in the midst of us and we are at one with all of His ideas expressing all of His beautiful light-giving qualities. Merry Christmas to all!

We are having a beautiful snow here in Texas.

57. Ron in CA says:

I’d like to second what Peggy (#53) and Lyn (#54) said. Susie, your tone and your content were both light and bright. Thanks so much.

58. Marilyn from Maine says:

Thank you for this lovely message. What a glow :-) Some of the words to hymn 39 popped into my head. The first verse speaks of Spirit giving us light and comfort. The second verse then says” “The light of Truth to us display that we may know and choose Thy way….”

59. Donna S. Los Angeles says:

What a wonderful messsge. Since the Christ light is everywhere present, it vanishes what “seems” to be darkness; tiredness, lonliness, inharmonious relationships, disease, accidents, lack, anything unlike God. The Christ light warms our hearts and is forever shining throughout the whole universe. Love to all.

60. Prince says:

Light is Being, that Perfect Beginning without End,this quality dispels All form of void, leaving a clear view to Continuity. As the Sun,so is Man in his awarenes of Power. Thanks for the invitation to this Light Work of Love.

61. Debbie says:

62. Sylvia – Boston says:

Thank you Susie for that Spectacular light display message! Merry Christmas!!! Love

63. J.S. in Ky says:

Thank you, Susie, for this enlightening lift. A member of a spinning group we once belonged to, was interested in what I shared with her in a conversation, especially the CS synonyms for God. She said she could relate to using synonyms, for when her Dad had passed on, she was looking for something to give her comfort & hope. While reading the Bible, she found, in Psalms 27:1 “The Lord is my light…”, then in 1st John 1:5, it says, “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”. Jesus said of his own self, he could do nothing John 5:30), so the Christ light he shined forth, and his telling us that we are the light of the world (Matt. 5:14) fits perfectly with Mrs. Eddy’s explanations of man, as reflecting God (There are so many references to this in S&H, but two I’ll note: Pg.555: 16-18; and 527:32-4. The latter includes all being as the reflection of eternal Mind). Because in him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28), we can see the spectacular light, and by reflection, be light for others to see, too. You have lifted us to an awesome point that extends far beyond Christmas light display times. To everyone who gets and gives light in every aspect of the daily lifts and to those who do and don’t comment, and also to the unknown voice that tells us about other good things to look for in this website, I pray for a blessed Christmas.
Jonnie

Thank you Susie, here goes another bit of celestial display lights: 2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

65. nate says:

Thanks to everyone who writes these wonderful comments every day. I always learn something from reading them – and it gives me my lift for the day! Have a joy-filled Christmas.

Much love,
Nate Frederick. Media Producer
CS Board of Lectureship

66. Susie says:

Ditto to Nate – thanks to everyone for writing. :) Y’all (there’s a special shout-out to the Texan with snow…) have put on such a bright display of love, support, and ideas! I’m so grateful for this glimpse of the radiant, universal family that all people in the world are a part of. It’s great spending Christmas with everyone today and every day. Big hugs, with more love and thanks!

67. Anne says:

Hi- I’m catching this a few days late, but it’s one of the best Lifts I’ve heard!

68. Robin from Australia says:

Thanks for this great reminder about light. I wanted my 4 year old students in Sunday School to think about why Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” I took in a lovely old oil lamp that I have and showed them how it lit up from a wick soaked in oil. I explained that people did not have electricity in Jesus’ day. This fascinated them as we discussed how the light of the Christ chases away darkness of any kind. I found that they remembered more of this idea the following week as a result of the practical demonstration. I also loved seeing a BBC documentary TV show about the so-called Bethlehem star as this has interested me for years. It’s amazing how much can be discovered still about Jesus’ time, even though we are so many years distant.

69. Estey says:

thanks so much, Susie! Loving the light show today and every day!
