Thanks again all the way from Western Australia
where the lecturer Elise Moore visited quite recently.

4. Birgid says:

I love that thought of 10:1. That sounds like a strong defence. Thanks.

5. Adrienne says:

A worrying situation was really wanting to occupy space in my thought this morning. I had just downloaded today’s Daily Lift when I received a text message and my concentration was diverted. The thought came that it was really important I listen, so I re-played it. How it lifted me! I loved the idea of 10 affirmations of Truth for every 1 of worry. Thank you for these daily moments of sharing, It feels like being in touch with the family and sharing a thought together.

6. Margaret Seymour says:

Thank you very much – good food for thought which I need today.

7. Diane in VA says:

Thanks. I love this idea. It also reminds me of a scoreboard—

God and me winning over error 10 – 1.

8. Cynthia says:

What a wonderful and inspired idea… we certainly do guard our online accounts and passwords dont we? And get rid of any spam immediately from our inbox? I love the idea of 10 to 1, what a fresh, new way to think about counteracting evil and having our security, our password keep us safe and only allow divinely inspired thoughts the authority and access into our thinking. Thanks so much!

9. Jenny says:

What a great way to outweigh worry and fear. Thank you so much!

10. Ada NDESO-ATANGA in Ghana, West Africa says:

Thank you so much dear Elise Moore for sharing with us an important practical way of throwing out negative thoughts. In fact it’s an effective way of preventing them from getting in, in the first place.

11. Bob Minnocci says:

Awesome thoughts to start the day with! Many, many thanks.

12. Mary says:

Wow. What a wonderful, powerful way to look at ridding ourselves of troublesome thinking. I plan to start practicing this right away.

13. joycebelle says:

What a great thought 10 to 1 is! That’s stacking up right thinking as a solid defense against error of all types. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone practiced this and taught their children to do this everytime they were confronted with a negative thought. Thanks for sharing this.

14. Scheila says:

Thank you so much!

15. Carla Worthy-Skinner says:

This is absoluely wonderful…and healing.

16. Jackie says:

I really like this one from Elise, its practical and really resonates for me, just what I needed before I start my day – thanks

17. ann-eliz says:

What a great way to start my day…I love these daily lifts. Hmmm…10 thoughts to one. That certainly will keep one occupied!

18. Ogom Ugoji says:

Very timely talk.Ten absolute Truths to one, no hacker or gatecrasher can get in! Yes, I now have a strong Porter at the door of my thought. Thank you, Elise.

19. Nancy says:

Just as I finished lstening to this message, I heard my husband’s announcement that important work documents created on his laptop were “missing” and somehow had been deleted. I immediately used the 10-1 idea to affirm that God, good is always present now. That all good is “backed up” by divine law, that we can never be separated from good by “time” or “space”. Soon I he announced he had “found” these documents…put perhaps not all. Divine law affirms that good, God IS ALL, so all of good IS present, not just part. I also invited him to listen to the daily lift message.

As I sign off, he is confident he can find all the needed documents.
Thanks much.

20. Leah says:

This is a wonderful idea on how to protect thoughts from error and worry. My ‘firewall’ is up with 10 to 1. Thank you.

21. Lisa Jenks says:

Thank you for his healing message. It made me think of how all good comes back 10 fold! Also, I used to read my children the book, “Filled up Full” which is the same premise. If our thought is filled to the brim with good there’s no room for anything else!

22. Marisa Flores says:

This is the best way to think that nothing can interfere with God’s love to us and so we are protected by this 10.1 idea thanks again for the daylift.

23. Mom of Two says:

We’re going camping in another day, and this daily lift is so timely. My 11 year old has had two very challenging boy scout camping trips due to weather issues. I asked him to listen to your 10 to 1 idea and he came to me after listening and said “I’m using the idea right now, mom.” Thanks for the support!

24. Betsy says:

Wonderful thought – to take a stand for good. I love the idea of actively searching for ideas to counteract fear and for those thoughts to be present in our thinking all during the day. Thanks, Elise!

25. Estey says:

Thank you for this inspiring reminder of our unbroken relationship with God!

26. Janet of Baguio city, Philippines says:

Thank you very much for this wonderful gift. Truly, Love has NO bounds. It is unlimited. My gratitude is overflowing. Thank you for this reminder. We do not look for Truth. It is already established, already active. All we do is to affirm it!
WONDERFUL

27. Sherry Schnell says:

Sure appreciate the suggestion to take in 10 Good thoughts to one of error. That will be a healthy dose of cure. Thanks!

28. Raymond Myers says:

What an uplifting, protective, guiding thought for a Monday morning to begin the week! Thanks, Elise! Raymond

29. Bruce says:

Wonderful thought for the day. I’ll keep it with me all day!

30. Gwenn says:

Elise, on a scale of 1 to 10, I think (10 being the highest score) this excellent counsel merits a 10. Thank you!

31. Sandra says:

This is wonderful and it works, a Christian Science Teacher once told me, one of her students, to stand in front of the mirror and say 5 wonderful things about myself each day. I must remember to do this and thanks for bringing this to mind today.

32. Paul Marthaler says:

For me, arresting negative thoughts and putting them OUT with ten God-inspired thoughts is an effective way to combat animal magnetism, which latter would attempt to ruin our harmony and make error seem real. Thank you Elise for this wonderful idea!

33. DiAnne Drake says:

It’s overcast and raining outside this Monday morning, but all light and bright within! Thanks Daily Lift and Elise Moore.

34. Chrissie Brown says:

Thanks Elise!! I liked the idea of changing our mental password!! Going to use this with my Sunday School class :) 10 to 1 !!!

35. Martha says:

Love thiis 10 to 1 thought. I have been sending these lifts to a family member who is going through some challenging times right now Thank you Elise. My husband and I had dinner with you on the lake many years ago. Much love!

36. John Marotta says:

Thank you for the message for today. What better way to start my day and protect my thoughts, then by thinking of God!

37. June Mary says:

Thanks, Elise, for this heavenly message. Christ Science is the Balm of Gilead that rids us of a “worry-wart ” mentality. I truly love this wonderful service of The Mother Church and its Board of Lectureship. It “opens doors that no man can shut.”

38. Pam Woodward says:

Thanks, Elise. This is very helpful!

39. Carole says:

“Worry is ingratitude in advance.” “Worry is reliving the incident twice.”
How much better to use the “perfect” ten–how about the 10 Commandments!!!!

40. ISABEL says:

Dear Elise : as always, you are so practical. Thank you.

41. Davidson says:

Thanks for the thought of the day.

42. Dianne says:

This was so helpful this morning in counteracting the worry and fear of a large fire in our area. Thank you. And, I love feeling close to others in having a prayer-based day. Thank you all for your ideas.

43. Pat says:

What a great idea—a countdown—and, at the end of 10 God oriented thoughts, and the worry still persists, we can do a 20-1 or even a 30-1. I will be busy with this wonderful thought today. Thank you!

44. Robert Tillotson says:

Thank you for the Daily Lift!!! I love the 10 – 1 for counteracting worry.. God doesn’t worry.. and as a reflection of His Love, I don’t have to worry either.

Elsie, this really helped me this morning. Thank you!

45. Cici says:

I truly love your 10 to 1 and how many more thoughts we can have on the absolute truths about God. It reminded me of my daily thoughts of “being in the Secret Place of the Most High”, that no error can enter. What a “lift!”.
I am infinitely grateful.

46. Carol says:

Thank-you for this inspiration- going to use it today and expect healing…

47. Earl says:

When we have recently lost someone we loved and cherished .. Ten times then, Elise, we can NEVER lose good which is always present.

Thank You ,and God bless

48. Genevieve says:

I heard of the 10-1 idea for the first time in Class Instruction. Thank you for bringing it back to my thought today.

49. Dave Christensen says:

Long ago a school educator told us that children hear 100 “no’s” or “don’ts” a day for every 10 “yes” or “do’s”. And adults give 10 negatives for every positive with each other. We grow-up with this pattern, and many religions cultivate it. But it keeps us doing that which we would not do because it always paints the negative picture before our eyes.

I have made it my goal to reverse the ratio, like MBE said. I try to say 10 times more “try this” and affirmations of things done right. It makes other people’s lives happier and makes people love you.

50. Martha says:

Very helpul! thank you!

51. Paul says:

Why Not Quote Scripture Instead?

For example:

(Matt 4)

Do Not Worry

25″Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[q]?

28″And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

52. Sherrill says:

Thanks to Elise and all sharers of comments, too, particularly the thought above shared by Sandra about looking in the mirror with 5 good thoughts about one’s true being. It seems these days that the reflection focused on/thrown at us by The Mirror is of material shortcomings….I appreciate the reminder to shift focus to our true spiritual (and well-loved by God!) reflection.

53. Daughter helping to nurse sick mother says:

Thank you this is absolutely great to stop being overwhelmed and affirm God’s goodness……………………………….

54. Ann Stokes says:

Thanks for this wonderful thought of 10:1 – I have already used it today, and what a difference it makes! It certainly is keeping me busy! The terms used (“hack into,” “change your mental password”) really illustrate the idea of defending my thought, as do the responses that take it further: “all good is ‘backed up’ by divine law” and “my ‘firewall’ is up”! Thanks for making my day!!

55. Laurie says:

Thank you, Elise. Contrary to a formula, I felt your 10-1 leads to active thought that is fresh (not stagnate formulas.) It impells us to address each specific negative suggestion with 10 specific affirmations which turn focus away from the negative so that you begin with, and hold in thought, all the goodness and power of God.

Dianne, having prayed my way through several fires, my thought immediately went to Hymn 123 in which are many more affirmations than 10 – each one completely uplifting and freeing. Just one affirmation is “the flame shall not hurt thee” ….and it can’t hurt anyone else, either. The “flame of Truth and Love” is the “backfire” that quenches fear and its false witness to any power apart from God.

I’m sure all who are reading these blogs will add our 10 to your 10. Blessings!

56. Diane in NH says:

Terrific. What a wonderful way to defend our thought.

57. PB says says:

58. Judy in Santa Fe says:

By confirming God’s presence 10:1, we have surrounded ourselves with God’s love, so that “there is NO spot where God is not!”

59. Janice says:

I am grateful for these Daily Lifts and also for the enlightening comments that follow. Thanks so much for this wonderful “lift” online!

60. Janna in KC says:

Thank you so much Elise, very important that we demand this of ourselves each moment. This 10 to 1 idea relates not only to worry but also to fear and despair that seems to plague the economy today.

61. Belle says:

Thank you for the message – I really need it.

62. Diane Ward of FL…… says:

Thanks, Elise, for this concept of 10 to 1. We all certainly need to replace the challenges we have with 10 “gratitudes”……”Gratitude is riches, complaint is poverty”……….I find that if I am continuously grateful for all the things we “take for granted”…..friends; family; a home; food; a car; roads; etc. we don’t leave room even for ONE negative part of our life to enter in to our consciousness!! Thanks for this reminder!

63. Ann in FL says:

Love the 10- to -1
You gave me a great idea for a Sunday School assignment!

64. Gab says:

I love this site, and the fact that we can see other comments as well. Perhaps soon we will be able to contact others Christian Scientists, like we do now on Facebook or Youtube
Thank you !

65. Sandra Kunz says:

These “Daily Lift” thoughts, and comments are helping me from day to day…Its like Church at Home”!…(Almost)!
Thank you so much.

66. Virginia says:

Great ideas expressed by Elise Moore! Thanks, Elise. I remember hearing your lectures in San Diego and Rancho Santa Fe not long ago.

Many thanks also for the comments by others. All are very helpful thoughts. The love from The Mother Church’s Board of Lectureship is so wonderful.

67. Richard Horner says:

Thank you, so much, Elise, for your very thoughtful and inspiring ideas. I’m going to try hard to think about ten good thoughts for every one that tries to “hack” its way into my consciousness. Watching our thinking is so important and so necessary to keeping our lives on “the straight & narrow.” You members of BoL are sure hitting home runs to us every day & how blessed we are to glean these news ideas & insights.

68. Bill says:

Great thought! I am following up on an employee/management opinion survey at a client and your “defending your thought” is perfect!
Thanks.

69. Amy Kinnaird says:

Elise, I used this several times today and it was just the greatest idea. Thanks for sharing it. It made a huge difference and brought about that change of thought I needed. xo

70. Linda says:

Elise, thank you so much for this wonderful and practical idea. My mama always taught us——”worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but never gets you anywhere”.

71. Julia says:

Elise, you bring back memories because a Christian Science practitioner mentioned this idea many years ago when we were expecting our first child. It was an idea that bore good fruit for us – and I’ll share a couple of ways in which it proved effective.

Our state requires the attendance of a physician at a birth and the physician we were working with – a man very kindly disposed toward students of Christian Science – wanted to require attendance at classes that covered much medically-oriented material relating to childbirth. The practitioner that was praying with me over the months before the birth told me that I could safely comply with the doctor’s requirements, as long as for every look I took at matter I took ten looks at the Christ. This greatly impressed my thought and I found it very useful as a guideline in my daily thinking and praying.

In my next visit to his office, the physician again brought up what he wanted me to do. I told him I was willing to do as he asked, but as we talked about it, I felt led to say that his request significantly increased the prayerful work I must do in order to keep my thought where it needed to be – and shared specifically what the practitioner had said. This obviously had an impact on his perspective, for he dropped the requirement and never mentioned it again.

Furthermore, all the study and the spiritual focus on the Christ paid off during the delivery, for as it turned out, there were several challenges to be met. A sentence that I had prayed over a lot is from the textbook (page 385:7-11) of Christian Science:
“The spiritual demand, quelling the material, supplies energy and endurance surpassing all other aids, and forestalls the penalty which our beliefs would attach to our best deeds.”

The first half of that sentence in particular was fully demonstrated in this experience and I was so grateful for having been led to repeatedly study that passage. Though the labor was unusually long, the “energy and endurance” required were present (the doctor himself marvelled at it in comments he made to the Christian Science nurse). The human birth process was entirely painless and mother and child were totally free of any of the things the medical staff had been fearful about.

Thanks for bringing these healings back to thought today with that one lovely, powerful idea! And thanks too, to Sandra for sharing her teacher’s instruction about the mirror and five statements of Truth about one’s self. Have shared it with someone else already!

72. Ann Stokes says:

Elise – I used this idea MANY times today and experienced healing of pain and fear – as well as a long-standing grief that has been a very aggressive suggestion over the past few years. I’m SO GRATEFUL that you shared this idea! It’s cleansing activity kept me focused on the spiritual point of view all day, and I look forward to using it for further spiritual growth today! THANK YOU!

73. Alison says:

Thanks for giving us a simple yet sure way to protect the wrong thoughts getting a grip on us. Much better than merely ‘counting to ten’ before reacting. I’m loving these Daily Lifts and sharing them.

74. Alison says:

Very useful, I’m going to put this into practice, right now!

75. Helga says:

ONE GOD, ONE MIND annulls every form of error – even as a CLAIM.

76. Emily says:

Thank you!!! I love the idea of changing our password to thought – it’s taking an active, rather than a passive, approach to defense. Onward and Upward!!

77. Sybil says:

I, too, have heard the statement about Mrs. Eddy saying to take 10 looks at the Christ. I would love to know the source of this statement.
This idea has blended with the thoughts I am getting from this week’s Bible Lesson on Mind. I am seeing a correlation between “casting out” and “in proportion”. Thanks for the uplifting thought.

78. Al says:

I like the idea of changing one’s mental password. This is very useful. Thank you very much for sharing this. It’s really powerful. Thank you so much to the Daily Lift team for an inspired idea.

79. Carolyn B says:

Elise, thank you for the suggestion. Today I re-listened to this Lift and immediately applied it to a lingering ‘yesterday’ thought. Wallowing helplessly in another’s false belief tended to make it real to me.

80. Hope says:

Even tho it’s Thursday, not Monday, this was just what I needed. Many thanks, Elise…..

81. Cheryl says:

I really appreciate this wonderful healing reminder. Thank you.

82. Bev Warner says:

I am going to adopt that idea starting right now! I really like that.
I’m a couple days late on this one.
Thanks, Bev

83. Candace says:

Thanks for sharing that wonderful idea, Elise.

Candy

84. Dee Brown Arden says:

Thank you Elise for sharing this beautiful consept, Re; 10 to 1. I called it to the attention of my husband and we agreed, it truly is powerful. I will make it a continuing part of my life. Thanks again.

Dee

85. Heather says:

Thank you, Thank you , Thank you. The exact right thought at the exact right time.
