Christian Science Primary class instruction
Christian Science Primary class instruction, a twelve-day course in spiritual healing, was designed by Mary Baker Eddy for those who have been inspired by the ideas in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and who have a heartfelt desire to help others through prayer. It’s a unique and precious opportunity to dig further into your relationship with God.
When you feel an interest in class instruction, the first step is to take your desire prayerfully to God. It is God who has awakened in you the desire for deeper spiritual understanding, and you can trust Him to lead you to the right time, the right place, and the right teacher.
You’ll also find it helpful to read Articles XXVI and XXVII of the Manual of The Mother Church, which you can find in any The Christian Science Reading Room or Christian Science Church. These articles establish class instruction, associations, and the rules that govern them. You can order the Manual from the Online Shop.
Primary class is taught by authorized teachers of Christian Science located throughout the world (sorted by location). You may want to talk with more than one teacher as you research the possibilities. Teachers appreciate inquiries and, in obedience to the Manual, are careful to avoid soliciting pupils, so don’t feel obligated if you visit with one teacher and then decide to apply to another.
Some questions you might want to ask a teacher about class:
- What is your application process? [The ethics of this process require that the teacher will wait for the applicant to request an application rather than offering one.]
- What costs are involved?
- What are the dates of your next class?
- When and where is your Association held (see Article XXVI, Sect. 6)?
- What is the format of your class sessions?
Feel free to email the Board of Education at BoE@csps.com or call us at 617-450-3662 if you have other questions.
Complete contact information for all teachers is available at The Christian Science Journal Directory and in all Christian Science Reading Rooms.
