Invitation to join with others in prayer about Gulf oil spill

June 1, 2010.  The Clerk of The Mother Church sent the following message to members and friends today.

Many are praying for a resolution to the Gulf oil spill and to other environmental problems facing our world.  Such devotion opens the way to genuine solutions.

For all our technology, far more is needed in order to provide long-term answers.  Human thought must be transformed and spiritualized.  A CSMonitor.com editorial states that new laws and regulations will be written. “But to prevent unexpected, human-caused natural calamities in the future will take something more: a demand for higher qualities of thought, such as a greater sense of obligation to others, a respect for one another’s views, and a longer-range regard for the collective good and the environment.”

We can expect progress because God, Mind, speaks to the earth – to limited thought. “O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord” (Jer. 22:29). His voice is powerful. Divine Truth and Love reform and elevate human thought. An understanding that divine intelligence controls all is a light in which mankind can discover those higher qualities of thought and find the way to practical and effective solutions.

Prayer is effective. It does bring answers. Here are several healing resources supporting prayer about the Gulf oil spill.
