What's the difference between a branch church and The Mother Church?

The Mother Church located in Boston, Massachusetts where you’ll find the main Church offices and the Christian Science Publishing Society. It is governed by the By-Laws given in the Church Manual, and it’s business is transacted by the Christian Science Board of Directors. Just like the branch churches and societies, The Mother Church has Sunday worship services as well as mid-week testimonial meetings.

The Mother Church also has branch churches and societies around the world. The branches are democratically governed by their own members under branch by-laws written by those members. They are also governed by the By-Laws given in the Church Manual. Branch churches have Sunday services, testimonial meetings, Sunday Schools, and Reading Rooms. Societies have Sunday services and sometimes testimonial meetings, Sunday Schools, and Reading Rooms.
