Branch Churches of Christ, Scientist

The Church of Christ, Scientist, includes branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, as well as smaller organizations called Christian Science Societies. They’re all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and can be found in about 80 countries worldwide. You’re welcome at any of them.

What you’ll find at branch churches

First of all, you’ll find people—people who study and practice Christian Science and who can talk with you about it. Here’s a sample of what else you’ll find.

  • At branch churches you can attend Sunday services which include hymns, prayer, and readings from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
  • You can attend testimony meetings on Wednesdays, too, during which those present can tell how they’ve used Christian Science to heal illnesses and solve other problems.
  • Branches also have a Sunday School for those up to the age of 20. Pupils get a solid grounding in the Bible and in the ideas explained in Science and Health.
  • Branches also operate a Christian Science Reading Room in their community. Reading Rooms are bookstores open to the public where you can find a variety of books, magazines, and other items related to Christian Science. They also often have an area for reading Christian Science literature in a healing atmsophere, and many have a lending library.
  • Branches sponsor public talks on Christian Science by members of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship. These lectures present the healing message of Christian Science, illustrated with accounts of healing that have resulted from the study and application of Christian Science.

Christian Science Societies hold Sunday services and may have Wednesday meetings, Sunday Schools, and so forth.
