Many healings

I had been searching for God for a long time, but I didn’t know how to find Him. So I prayed that God would show me the way.

When I bought the book Science and Health and began to study it, I was awestruck because I realized this was the path I had been seeking. There I learned that God is always with me and with everyone, that He is all love and goodness. I understood that I needed to pause and be quiet in order to hear God, because He is constantly speaking to us. Now when I pray, I feel a great sense of peace and happiness.

As a consequence of this new understanding, I have had many clear proofs of God’s care. About four years ago, I was diagnosed by the doctors with diabetes, in addition to suffering from hypertension and asthma. Later, they also determined that I suffered from angina. I was told that, because of my age and all the problems they had diagnosed, I had to undergo cardiac catheterization because it was almost certain that they’d have to repair a valve in my heart. For the sake of my family’s peace of mind I agreed to go ahead with the catheterization.

As for me, I had been studying Christian Science for some time, so I turned to God in prayer. I strove to understand His perfect nature and see myself as His spiritual image and likeness, beyond the reach of any disease. Of the many passages in Christian Science that I studied, this one gave me much hope: “The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love” (Science and Health, p. 1).

When the day came to see the doctor for the procedure, I went in complete peace, with the total certainty that there could be nothing wrong with me. To the surprise of the medical team that examined me, they found that not only was there nothing wrong with me, but that at my age I had the strong heart of a child. I thought this was wonderful.

Since that time, three years ago, I stopped taking all medications and I have been very well.

This powerful trust in God helped me on another occasion when I was working in the fields with a digging and plowing machine. This machine has some installed panels that protect against ricocheting stones, but I had removed them in order to make the machine lighter. Well, a large rock flew back and hit my mouth. The blow was so hard that I thought my teeth had been broken. The pain was intense, but I immediately thought, If I’m the image and likeness of God, as the Bible says, I’m perfect and nothing can be wrong with me.

As I prayed along those lines, the pain stopped right then. I continued to work the land. I kept praying, and although that side of my face became inflamed, the next day I had only two scar marks. And on the third day I had no signs at all of an injury. The healing was complete.

It is a very great joy to recount these testimonies of God’s power and of the love God has for each one of us.
