Healing Stories

College funding found

During high school, I didn’t have much of a problem with finances because I was a scholarship grantee. But when graduation was approaching, I became so worried. I knew that my parents would, for sure, be sending me to college, but I started having doubts. Both of my parents are farmers, and besides, I also have a sister who was in college at the time, so I thought my parents’ income would not be enough. I thought of just ignoring the problem, but I knew this would lead nowhere.

Then I decided to rely on prayer. The local Christian Science Society didn’t have Sunday School yet, but I’d been attending the Sunday church services, studying the weekly Christian Science Bible Lessons, and reading Christian Science periodicals.

My parents always told me that God will never abandon nor forsake us, for He loves us so much! I resorted to our Pastor, the Bible and Science and Health, for more helpful insight. In the Bible, the very first line of the 23rd Psalm said, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Clearly, it came to me that there was no point in worrying because there’s nothing worth worrying about at all. God is supplying my needs (including yours, of course!) and is giving us even more. In Science and Health, Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings” (Science and Health, p. vii). I felt at ease reading this.

Then I said to myself that all I had to do was to acknowledge that all blessings come from God alone and not from any material things, and to affirm in truth that as a child of a loving Father-Mother God, I could never be out of His providence, even just for a single moment. The worrying stopped.

After graduation, I applied for a scholarship and made it to college without even spending that much. I am very grateful for this wonderful healing because it didn’t only bring healing from a financial problem, but also elevated my understanding about God and who I really am. I am also very grateful for Mary Baker Eddy and this wonderful teaching of Christian Science. And most of all, to God.
